Henrietta Tregoss has decided she needs a gap year before starting uni in England. She has also decided that rather than spend that year staying home in Cornwall, working at her sister’s comic book shop, or backpacking through Europe like everyone else does, she wants to live the beach life in gorgeous Southern California.
And why not? SoCal has beautiful weather, stunning beaches, and a surf culture that is perfect for Henrietta’s favorite pastime.
Even better…she’s been invited to stay with none other than Megan and Vanessa...and Vanessa has even given her a job at La Vida Mocha!
Savannah Harris has been working at La Vida Mocha long enough to be an expert on everything in the coffeeshop. No wonder she’s been tapped by Vanessa to train the new girl…a task Savannah certainly doesn’t mind doing once she meets the new a tall and utterly gorgeous redhead from England.
When these two young women discover they have a mutual love of surfing, a fast friendship is formed, which very quickly becomes so much more… The only question is, how long can it last if Henrietta has to return to England in a year?
“Something Clicked” is the fourteenth book in Sabrina Kane’s extremely popular Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance series. It is the story of two young sapphics who find themselves irresistibly drawn to one another, forging a delightful romance while surfing the beaches of California.
It is a funny, charming, and insightful novel with zero angst and a wonderful HEA…as well as the trademark Sabrina Kane steam!
This is a story about young adults, but not written in a typical YA style. I love it. Henrietta has just turned eighteen, and is leaving her native Cornwall in England for a gap year in Southern California. She already has a job lined up in a coffee shop in Carlsbad, and there she meets Savannah, who is tasked with training her. They are both surfers, Henrietta coming from the surf capital of England, she is looking forward to the California surfing scene. This has so many funny moments, mixing typical British dry humour with American comedy. One of the strong underlying currents through this is surfing, and that is taken a really long way. Also it is such a steamy story - they always seem to be doing something, somewhere!
This is a classic Sabrina Kane romance - from Cornwall to Carlsbad. It's Henrietta's story from "Clueless No More" when she takes a gap year to spend in CA with Megan and Vanessa.
In all her infinite, lesbian wisdom, Vanessa pairs Henrietta up with Savannah to teach her the ropes around La Vida Mocha and Carlsbad. Sparks, surfing, summer love, sex, and adventure all wrapped up in this fun romance! And we get to meet up with some of the Carlsbad Lesbian Royal Court as always.
I loved this book just as much as I love all of her other books in this series!! She’s such a great writer, her writing is fun, witty and sexy. She’s definitely one of my favorite authors.
Well done. I could almost feel the sunny Carlsbad, CA environment and beautiful snapshots into the two girls from two very different places. I like that they are able to use their voices and communicate like real adults should to figure out how to be together. The suggestion is a very simple one.
Well, she’s only gone and done it again. Another superb book in the Carlsbad series. I personally loved the mix of American and British characters in this one. Both mains are a little younger, just 18, and have that weird…im an adult, but not a real one…thing we have all been through. With that being said, they each had a mature side. You will instantly love both of them. Although the characters are younger, don’t expect that it means the spice level drops. This is a Sabrina Kane book after all.
I found the Easter Eggs to the different series Kane writes fun. If you haven’t read the other books yet, just picture this series set in space or alternatively beautiful Cornwall.
I also found the banter around packing for a trip humorous. I’m pretty sure that was a dig at the author herself.
This is a cracking addition to an amazing series by a fabulous author. Long may it continue. P.S Do we Brits really say bloody that much? Yeah, probably. P.P.S Again with the baked bean hatred? Is this a theme now?? lol
I loved the story it was unique and it brought out both American and British humor. There was so much humor and I love a good book that has me spontaneously laughing. There was plenty of sex scenes for those of us reading lesbian romance books so if you're a bit of a prude... this isn't the story for you. There is plenty of friendship, fun and family with a happy ending... it doesn't get any better than that.
