Off-Limits Roommates

I caught my ex cheating, and now I’m homeless. My only out?
Crash with my sinfully hot ex-stepbro and his gorgeous teammates.

Vaughn , my ex-stepbrother, is the kind of trouble that teases me mercilessly and looks way too good doing it. Now, I’m his “Cinderella”, cleaning up after him and his teammates just for a roof over my head.

And he’s laid down the law—I’m strictly off-limits to the guys.
But rules were made to be broken, right?

Fisher Hayes , star quarterback, is as smooth as his passes, and after playing fake boyfriend to ward off my ex, he's looking at me like he wants to take the role full-time.

Then there’s Booth, the gentle giant of a lineman, with dimples that could bring anyone to their knees. Did I mention we ended up sharing more than just a house?

Vaughn’s got this twisted need to protect me, but I’m starting to think it’s less about the guys and more about his own feelings. Feelings that shouldn’t feel impossible for me to resist.

And the last thing I want is to tear apart their team and cause a scandal.
But the deeper I fall for these three, the more I realize—this game is playing me.

18+ Only. This is a standalone college football reverse harem romance with no cheating and an HEA.

I am hooked on this author's reverse harems. I love the way the characters fall in love and I truly enjoy the drama. I rushed to read this the moment it came out, then had to stop because I knew I would read it all in one sitting - so I waited until my day off. And then as predicted it was a "one-sitting" book. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes reverse harems and drama. Drama filled with epic fallout and a lot of groveling from the male leads. Now all that said....

My rating system:
1★ – I would never touch it again
2★ – Good but forgettable
3★ – This was great, worth reading
4★ – I liked it, I would read it again
5★ – I would recommend it to others

Minor spoilers!

I'm noticing a pattern with Rebel Bloom's books. The plots are usually recycled with different character names and settings but the storyline, conflict and conflict resolution stays very similar. 🤔 This isn't entirely a bad thing, it means there usually aren't any unpleasant surprises and her books are a safe place to return to for palate cleansers or a light fun read.😗

This would have been a 4-star read if it weren't for the senseless big conflict.🥲 The public humiliation felt very very out of character for these 3 particular MMCs who were very protective and kind to the FMC from the start. Maybe in another book with a different set of love interests it would make sense but here, it felt rather forced.🫤 It just didn't align with any of the boys to treat her like that, especially Booth, the most levelheaded guy who was not a fuckboi seemed to cherish the FMC dearly. It was extremely out of character for him to follow along and participate in such a cruel "revenge". 😕 He seemed like the one out of the three who would get mad at the other two, and confront the FMC for her side of the story. Even for Fisher, it didn't really fit with his personality to be like this.

I still enjoyed the other parts of the book but I'm still very "wtf?" at the conflict as it didn't make sense to recycle this kind of conflict for this particular set of characters. It didn't make sense at all and I was very disappointed at the direction it went to. I was mollified by the way it resolved but it still left a bitter taste in my mouth. 💔

Entertaining

I really enjoyed reading this book, can't remember the last time I actually laughed out loud reading. Ellas mom is a Legend, the book could have been about her story and I would have been chuckling just the same.

If you're looking for an easy sports romance to read this is it. If you're like me and couldn't care less about the nitty gritty details that go into a sport this is a good one. I would have liked more background about the boys, I think it would have enriched the story a bit more.

I do recommend this book especially as a palate cleanser.

A few grammar mistakes. The parents were so OTT. I also don’t think there was enough grovel. The covers are so cringe 😭

It was very pleasantly surprised by this one. I love all of rebel’s books. However, this one had a very firm plot, and it was very slow paced compared to her other books. This one was A+.

Funny, sweet, smutty.
It was just overall a great time.
That third act breakup was pretty harsh. But I do like how they came back together.
🤷🏻‍♀️ It was a really fun read.
I’m always greatly entertained by this author’s writing.

Not sure how to feel about this book and all the chaos that ensued. A lot going on with three different people. You’ve been warned. Proceed with MAJOR caution.

Three stars because it was good until it wasn't.

I've read a few Rebel Bloom books, maybe 7, but I had a very difficult time with the third act breakup in the last two I've read, Off-Limits Roommates and My Ex-Boyfriends Brothers. I'm not a huge fan of third act breakups, but they are a part of a lot of books so I deal, BUT what the guys did in the last two books was SO BAD (Off-Limits was particularly cruel) that I didn't even want her to take them back! That's only happened to me ONCE ever before in the 600ish books I've read!

Now a lot of the book was ok, like I said, good until it wasn't, but it was hard to come back from that and I just finished to know how it ends.

I noticed both of these books are from near the end of 2024, and a lot of the other books of hers I've read are a little older (22/23), so maybe her style or story formula changed.

I want to note that I've given other books of hers 5 stars. For instance Fake and Don't Tell was great, made me laugh, it was charming. But I think I'll be wary of reading any of her newer books. To me it's just not fun to see the guys turn on a dime and be irrational or cruel.

I feel so conflicted over this book. And that’s the first time I feel that way from this author.
First of all, I have to comment on what I always comment about on her books, is that they are fucking hilarious! Honest to God it always has me laughing so hard that my whole body hurts and I’m begging someone to make it stop. Tears leaking down my face, gasping for air.
And this book was just as funny as all her books which I’m so grateful for. I mean, who doesn’t love a good laugh or 50?!

Another thing this author always does so well is make incredibly likable and lovable secondary characters. I’ve never met a writer who could make the main characters families so amazing as this one does.

I was totally hard-core into this book riding it all the way up to the summit for the first 65% of the book. But then, unfortunately, the author caused an avalanche and knock me off of the mountain. I fell down so far that I felt like I couldn’t get back up again.

I mean what the guys did was just so horrible, maybe not as bad as dark bully romance, but still really fucking shitty especially if you look at what her ex-boyfriend was all about and they knew about that. What they did was just horrible and cowardly and pathetic.

And then they didn’t really even do anything to get her back. No groveling no grand gestures. Booth didn’t do anything at all and he was supposed to be the big teddy bear.

They forgave Vaughn really quickly, which I didn’t get. What he did was really fucking crappy no matter why he did it. But after that, I feel like they didn’t really do much other than maybe send her some text messages to get her back and to get her to forgive them.

It was a month that went by before they did a grand gesture, and even then they couldn’t come up with the grand gesture themselves, even though it had been a month that they had the time to think about it. It was on the car ride over to talk to her that they finally came up with something that wasn’t even original at all. Yes, in the end it was super funny but still, I didn’t think it was enough after what they did.

She forgave them way too easily. That’s why I just think that the author may accidentally went too far with their transgression, because it just made it hard for the author to come back from for the readers.

I also feel like the author spent too much time on their break up and not enough time on their actual relationships. Especially booth. I mean, did we really even know him at all? Same kind of goes for Fish.

I’m grateful for the epilogue, I just can’t believe it took them six years to ask her to marry them and she was already six months pregnant. And don’t even get me started on the ridiculous thing that she said, she basically said that her pregnancy wasn’t planned and she was gonna go right back to work as soon as she gave birth because, I’m quoting her now “I hadn’t worked so hard to become a lawyer just to give up at the first sign of hardship”. Nice to know that her beautiful children are a hardship.

Anyways, there was a lot to like, but also a good amount not to.

Look, you all know I love a good Rebel Bloom book. And this one was great up until the 70% mark. BUT I AM SO CONFLICTED.

The third act break-up and the fall out of how the author chose to go about it, in my opinion, was insurmountable. There was no amount of groveling that could make what happened okay, or redeem the love interests.

There was the classic miscommunication with a dash of lying. Par for the course. HOWEVER, the MMCs' response to that was to create a cultural atmosphere that made it okay for the other male students on campus to sexually harass the heroine. This happens in front of them, and they smirk and laugh because they think she's getting what she deserves. They created an environment that made it socially acceptable for two men to follow her across campus and begin a sexual assault scenario.

For a few more chapters, the side characters agree that the way she was treated was shitty. And then the FMC's mother tells her she needs to get over it and forgive them, so she does.

I'm sorry, but I just don't think this works. The author created a dynamic with the characters that completely ruins the trust that she spent the entire book building. She affirmed that her "heroes" were men that would resort to inciting threats to the FMCs safety and general well-being just because she hurt their feelings (they thought she was choosing to break up with them). I understand this is fiction, but in a real world scenario if a man you were dating gave open season to his friends to sexually harass and assault you because you were breaking up with him, we would call that a giant red flag (I would like to be able to call it crime, but we all know the statistics on violence against women and how well that goes down in the justice system).

This book was supposed to be a light, reverse harem, love story with an HEA. What we got was a woman put through multiple trauma events by men that claim to 'love' her, and then half the characters guilt tripping her into taking them back. Wild. Usually when I step into dark romance, it's at least marketed that way.

Anywho, I think this one just veered too far, and I wish more care had been taken with the plotting and editing decisions for the end of this book. But at the end of the day, I love Rebel's books and I will be back for another.

Ella, Vaughn, Booth & Fisher

Hot college romance

Now, I’m not usually one for college romances. Probably because it feels like it was so long ago for this middle aged lady. But I’m happy to admit that I actually really enjoyed this story. Oh, to be that young, carefree and up for fun.

At first, it’s safe to say that I was not too keen on the jealous stepbrother routine that the sweet Ella Rae had to endure. Vaughan is such a miserable, grumpy grouch when Ella first comes to stay with the three frat brothers mansion. He really knows how to stamp his authority, but with feelings between Ella, Fish and Booth running hotter than, the inevitable outcome is that they are going to give into temptation very quickly.

But when they realise that Ella is secretly into both of them, well things start to get interesting. But everything starts to go pear shaped when Vaughan’s real reason for his need for his roommates to keep their hands of his ex-stepsister becomes too much for him to resist. Yup, you’ve guessed it. He’s also desperate for a chance with Ella… but how will he react when he understands the true nature of their blossoming relationship?

In answer, it’s not good and Vaughan’s jealousy threatens their entire relationship and poor Ella bears the brunt of the fall out.

Will she be able to forgive their mistakes? Or is the shame of being the talk of the campus too much.

Fantastic story. Really gripping and engaging. I loved Fisher and Booth right from the start. Their playful wholesomeness and need to make Ella feel special is truly something. And by the end, when Vaughan stops his ridiculous attempts to come between his ex-stepsister and his roommates, he’s actually just as gorgeous.

Really enjoyed reading this and that epilogue was awesome. Loving this writers work. Will definitely be reading more of her stuff.

When Wanting The Impossible Leads To Forever

Another fabulous book by Rebel! Catching your boyfriend cheating wouldn’t usually be a good thing, but for Ella, our FMC, it ends up setting her on a path & a turn of events that ends up being the best thing to ever happen to her. Ella was smart, quirky & determined to not let anyone dictate her happiness, including Vaughn her ex-stepbrother. He sure tries though, by letting his roommates/teammates (and best friends) know that Ella is off limits after she has to crash with them & be their “Cinderella” to have a place to stay (Cinderella could’ve never imagined this scenario 😝🤣). You can imagine how well that works out for him, since he has a bit of a problem listening to his own rules, and his friends can’t resist her any more than he can 🤦🏻‍♀️👀😂 Dominoes probably fall slower than these guys did 👀😈 Their secret relationships can’t work once reality comes knocking…can they? What transpires is literal perfection because Rebel delivered so much emotion, and it was balanced out so amazingly with the humor (OMG, Ella & her mom 🤣), spice, wonderful secondary characters, & drama that she added so seamlessly to the story. Ella’s story with Vaughn, Fisher & Booth will have you diving into Rebel’s backlist if you aren’t already aware of her brilliance…how else can you explain so much laughter, smiles, eye rolls, and tears all in just one book 😉 I never worry about being entertained with one of her books, and this one did just what it was supposed to…transported me to another world for a few hours before I had to return to reality 😭😂 You will never be disappointed with one of Rebel’s books, so please do yourself a favor & grab this NOW ❤️

I did like this book, overall. There were things I did like in here, but there were so many things that I did not like, as well. I doubt I would read this again, but it is a nice read the first go-around. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to read this one.

Grammatically, there were some issues. There were at least 2 or 3 instances where the wrong word was used or simply missing. I think the biggest one for me was using swamp or swamping rather than sweating. I'm not sure how that got through.

The issues I had with this book are several. First off, we don't really get to know Booth at all. We somewhat get to know about Fisher. Since Vaughn was connected to FMC, though, we did learn about his background. Because of this, the relationships didn't feel equal to me.

The biggest thing that I had issues with, though, is that everyone is so quick to forgive, here. After the horrible thing that Vaughn did, the other guys are just OK after he simply apologizes. Seriously, he potentially ruined all their relationships, and they just let it go.
Then, there was the the quick forgiveness from Ella to the guys. Honestly, even after a month, all they did was just show up to the house and apologize. You would think after that long, they could have done something a little MORE. And then she just took the apology and moved on. Considering how damaging their actions were, there needed to be more, publicly.

Another thing I do want to mention, since it was mentioned in another review. The cover is just cringey. And so many of her covers are the same, and they are all cringey.

I won't read this one again, but I don't begrudge anyone wanting to read it. It is a pretty good read.

Well... This book is a lot. It's my first book by this author and it was another Goodreads recommendation. Sports romance is one of my favorite genre's to read right now and football romances I haven't read that much of.

So this was an immediate one click for me. At times this book was hilarious and had me laughing because WTF. Living in a closet sharing a room with a Buffy/Angel fanatic. And Beyonce or Kelly's doll taking a tumble. I mean those little moments made it worth the read.

Then we get into the real business of this book and we meet Vaugh, Fisher and Booth. Individually they all stood out in their own way and their dynamic with Ella. There is a lot of sexual tension in this book that it might as well have it's own post code.

There is no denying that this book is sizzling hot with the intimate scenes. There are a lot of them and damn they are hot. Seriously hot. This book is the baby of a cheesy romantic comedy with some serious R-Rated book.

For me personally I did like this book and IMO I think that this book had the potential to be a lot more. It could easily have been split into two books with a lot more build up to the intimacy scenes. I would have liked to have seen flashbacks to when Ella and Vaugh were technically step siblings. More background history for Fisher and Booth instead of just some details being dropped every now and then.

But the MVP of this book. Paul. That man has no filter and I can appreciate that in a character. Overall I thought this book was a great read. I would read more from this author but would I read this book again. Maybe. But not for a while.

I just can’t say no to a Rebel Bloom book. Forced prox, reverse harem, a lil bit of taboo, and enough tension and angst to get me tearing up when the spice isn’t making me swoon… this is like my own personal drug!! Every time I think the next book won’t hit as high as the last, Rebel manages to make me fall in love all over again.

In saying that… I wouldn’t have forgive Vaughn so easily to be honest. In fact… I think I would have forgiven Fisher before the others. She was warned about him, so what he did is more forgivable than Booth being downright cruel to her. Fish couldn’t even hurt her directly, turning to Booth to get her to leave. I would’ve folded for him so much sooner than the others.

Except… Booth. I think I would have fallen for him first. There’s just something about the big teddy of a guy. He’s perfection, which is why he hurt more, to be honest.

And Vaughn. Fucking Vaughn. I get it, and I loved the protective and possessive act. But he fucked up… and I would have made him grovel SO much more.

Still… I loved this!! There’s never a doubt in my mind that I won’t dive into another of Rebel’s books the moment I get the chance!!

~~~
Trope(s): Romance. Contemporary. Sports. College. Forced proximity. Reverse harem. Friends-to-lovers. Enemies-to-lovers. Taboo. Fake dating. Football.
Trigger Warnings: Angst. Third act break up. Mentions of cheating (not done by MCs). Lil bit of violence.
This book had me laughing and crying in the same chapter. I think I looked like a may have lost my mind while I was reading this book. Rebel Bloom has a gift with words. Reading this book as my first book introduction to Rebel Bloom’s work, I gotta say I was disappointed in myself for not discovering her words sooner. So let’s get on with the review.
Ella has just given up everything to transfer colleges to be with her 3 year boyfriend only to get crushed by the reality of “His College Life” without her.
Vaughn, Fisher, and Booth are roommates, best friends since freshman year and the star line up of the football team. Vaughn has also never mentioned to these men that he had a stepsister. Now that the cat is out of the bag can he keep his friends off his kid step sister? Can he get over the fact that she is no longer the awkward teen and now this beautiful woman? Ella is corcky, her mother is an absolute nut and the conversations between mother and daughter will have you ROFLAO. But the pain that Ella feels hits you hard, this is truly an emotional roller coaster of a book and up there are one of the funnest books I have ever read in the ROM/COM section.
I enjoyed the story of Ella Rae and her harem and how she moved to Florida to be with her boyfriend of three years, only to discover him face down on a woman. She is devastated after she had left her college to find that she is homeless, and without her boyfriend, she calls her mother to tell her all about it, only for her mother, to advise her to call her ex stepbrother, Vaughn, to see if she can stay with him. He tells her that they have a spare room in his house, and that she can stay there rent-free as long as she plays her part as Cinderella, cleaning up their filthy mess. Booth, Vaughn, and Fisher are best friends and the star players on their college football team, they are all attracted to Ella Rae and before you know it, they are all in a secret relationship with each other. Things take a downward turn, when people discover their relationship and Ella Rae tell her stepfather all about it when he is visiting, and he organises for her to move into her own place. The guys realise their mistakes, and they set out to win Ella back. There is a happy ending with all in the relationship, very happy and on the way to having their own family.
Complicated 4 stars - Ella and Vaugh are ex-step siblings. Ella, who is desperate to have a roof over her head, made a deal with Vaugh to be his and his roommates' housemaid. Although Vaugh likes to call Ella “Cinderella”, that’s all the similarity between Ella and Cinderella’s story because Vaugh is overprotective of Ella. He had warned his bestfriends Fisher and Booth not to touch Ella because he is her protector. Is that really the reason why? Well, Fisher can’t keep his hands to himself and soon, Booth succumbed too. At this point, Ella is very confused when something happens in the library with Vaugh and she’s even more perplexed! The complications were compounded by Vaugh’s disastrous tantrum. Poor Ella! There are a lot of steamy scenes. The characters have chemistry with each other. Vaugh, Fisher and Booth’s interactions feel natural. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Ella, Vaughn, Fisher, & Booth. When Ella decides to change schools and follow her boyfriend to a different college, what she didn't plan on was showing up to find him cheating. This should be her only problem but it isn't she also can't find housing since the dorms are full and she thought she was moving in with her boyfriend. So she goes to the only person who might be able to help her, her ex-stepbrother Vaughn. Vaughn, Fisher & Booth can't believe one that Ella is on their doorstep looking for somewhere to stay and two how beautiful she is. Vaughn is determined to man up though and protect her so he deems her off limits. What happens though when feelings get involved will they fight for one another or will they hide away because it is the safer option?
Another hit out of the park by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Enjoyed this book immensely, you can never go wrong with a book from Rebel Bloom.
Ella is left homeless after she catches her boyfriend cheating on her. She tried to find someplace to live, but kept coming up short. Her mom reminded her that Vaughn her ex-step brother lived in the area and went to the same school. She finally gave in and called Vaughn, they came to an agreement about her staying with him and his best friends.
The roommates Booth and Fisher have an immediate liking to Ella and show her to Vaughn's displeasure. She begins falling for each if them. They cross a line that Vaughn had set and they didn't look back.
Does Vaughn feel anything for Ella? Is this why he doesn't want his best friends messing around with her? Will they be able to have a relationship between the four of them? Or just three of them? Let's finish reading to find out!
I normally love a good Rebel Bloom book but lately these third act break ups are harsh! Why treat her that way? Any woman and that would be harsh. The university should have done something about sexual harassment too.
I think Booth was my favorite if I had to choose. He was so sweet and waited for the right woman, wasn't a womanizer and still sexy. Vaughn was the stereotypical "boys will be boys" guy but I'm glad he pulled his head out of his ass. Fisher was cute he knew he wanted her and didn't care what anyone thought. I just wish he wouldn't have said such mean things to Ella.
What happened with Natalie and Chris they seemed to be left out. Kinda sad that they were in her corner but we didn't get to hear about them.
Also why is the cover of a blonde haired woman? She is brunette or at least had dark hair?
Another great book by Rebel Bloom
What can I say? I have yet to read one of Rebel’s books and come away disappointed. She has this way of creating a world and characters that are so relatable that you just get sucked in. Off-Limits was wonderful. I loved watching Ella, Vaughn, Fisher, and Booth all go through their ranges of emotions throughout the story. I do have one complaint though (which is why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5), and that is that I don’t feel that they did enough to earn her forgiveness. Vaughn did more than the others, but Fisher barely tried and you don’t see anything that Booth did to try to get her forgiveness. I felt that she gave in too easily. Other than that, it was a fantastic story and is one that I will be rereading in the future.
I was really surprised at how much I liked this book! It wasn't just all fluff and spice.
After Ella moves to a new college to be with her boyfriend she discovers him actively cheating on her. Now homeless she reaches out to her ex-stepbrother who she hasn't seen in years and quite frankly, was kind of a jerk to her all those years ago. He agrees to let her live with him and his roommates.
What she doesn't know is he starts to crush on her - as does his roommates Booth & Fisher. But he's warned them off her.
I love that although it was kind of insta-crush they all had things they had to work through. It wasn't an easy road. And honestly, Ella's mom and Vaughn's dad...they were the BEST! I would've loved to have seen more of them! Haha!
Literary Equivalent of a Sweet Treat
You know how, when you’re dieting, you just have to have that little piece of dark chocolate that hits the taste buds just right? This story is the literary equivalent of that. It’s got just enough character development and plot twist to make it worth reading, but the spice is really what you need. Good thing it wasn’t a diet, because I couldn’t put it down.
FMC finds herself with no place to live after uprooting her entire life for a guy who cheats on her. Her ex-stepbrother is a last resort, but he and his roommates turn out to be a good fit. I love how the author gave their relationship time to progress. Spicy bits aside, I could actually believe they fell in love and I was glad they didn’t miss their HEA.
Rebel Bloom never lets me down, because I love every book she writes! This book was just that.
Ella's story was the perfect blend of humor, delicious steam, with a fantastic plot!
It was filled with laugh out loud moments, drama, tension, spice, and more!
I must mention Ella and her mom's relationship. Oh my goodness, they had me in giggles. I loved it!
I loved that the relationships between Ella and the guys developed naturally. While they were attracted to each other, they didn't rush into bed right away.
It went from playful banter, then the friendships turned to love. It was perfect.
