FROM AUTHOR'S WEBSITE: I'm a native of central Maine, and grew up on a small farm with a wonderful mom and dad, three sisters and a brother. Most of my books take place in small towns, many of them in Maine.
My husband, Jim, and I moved to his birth state, Oregon, for a while after we were married, but decided to move back to Maine and be near my family. It allowed our six children to grow up feeling close to their cousins and grandparents, and some of Jim's family have even moved to Maine!
Our children are all home-schooled. When Jim retired from his vocation as an editor at a daily newspaper, we moved from Maine to Kentucky.
I've always loved reading, history, and horses. These things come together in several of my historical books. Another longtime hobby of mine is genealogy, which has led me down many fascinating paths. I'm proud to be a DAR member! Some of Jim's and my quirkier ancestors have inspired fictional characters.
For many years I worked for the Central Maine Morning Sentinel as a freelancer. This experience was a great help in developing fictional characters and writing realistic scenes. I also published nonfiction articles in several magazines and had several short stories appear in Woman's World, Grit, and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.
Nice short book- keeping with culture and historical mores. Young lady works in accounting for her father, gradually falls in love with his clerk (which crosses societal norms). Her father is gruff and seems cold but has an understanding heart buried deep. Alls well that ends well
Etienne is a lumberjack, he is out working when he hears a I cry for help. It’s the boss’s daughter, Letitia, she has fallen through the ice. He rescues her and brings her back to her cabin. She is fine and her father rewards Etienne for saving his daughters life by giving him an office job where he will be working along side Letitia. As Etienne and Letitia get to know one another they become friends and feelings grow but her father thinks Etienne too lowly stationed for his daughter.
I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I didn’t really know how it was going to be but I really enjoyed it! It was really good and very well written. The whole story is very entertaining. The love story is perfect. Good Christian message and I definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awe, such a tender love story! A gentle giant but a poor lumberjack falls for a beautiful heiress of the lumber company that employs him. Could she ever return his love? Would her father ever approve of such a lopsided match? Letitia focuses on his true character and love for his mother and God! She can't help but be drawn to this strong and loving man!
Susan is a wonderful storyteller and this whole series is great!
THis was a pleasant read but not overly adventurous. I wish the lumberjack stayed in the woods, I liked his character better as a woodsman. Nice, but not too memorable.
