When a joy ride in a heat limo shatters the peace of small town, beta reporter Karen Hillcrest sets out to destroy the career of the limo’s owner - Foster Camden, a well respected heat helper to the elite packs in Port Haven.
During the interview, Foster recounts his experiences. A omega’s first heat. An older alpha concerned about satisfying his young scent match. A pack grappling with their omega’s chronic illness. A single omega who tries to go it alone.
Karen learns some surprising facts about heat, but it might not be enough to derail her plans.

Interview with a Heat Helper is a standalone novella set in the Port Haven Omegaverse. It is a series of shorts depicting encounters with several clients. Chronic illness and Diabetes is discussed. Please see the content overview before reading.
I have always loved smart, sexy, magical fiction…. When a group of witches, vampires, and shifters started hanging out in my brain, I couldn’t say no and had to make them real on paper!
I LOVE morally gray characters.
I LOVE impossible choices.
I LOVE characters who want to burn it all to the ground. Bonus points if it's to save someone they love.
I would like to begin this review by praising the tense shifts. Amy did a great job switching from first-person present during the interview scenes to first-person past when Foster told his client stories. The technique was simple but very well done!
On the same note as tenses, I didn’t immediately understand the names at the top of the chapters. I originally thought they were perspective shifts, as names usually suggest in romance books. However, they actually followed Foster’s clients and told the reader whose story we were reading about this time. This was a unique way of doing things and worked super well in the interview format.
Moving on to the plot and characters, it was incredibly fascinating to see what heat would be like for a chronically ill omega. I’ve never thought about issues chronically ill omegas could face or what would need to be done to make everyone in the pack comfortable and satisfied during the heat. I enjoyed reading about the solutions they came up with and seeing everyone in the pack being taken care of. I hope to see more of this pack in future stories.
I think oddly enough my favorite quote was “Still wrapped up like a little omega burrito, I roughly ran my hands all over her body, touching her everywhere under the guise of drying her off.” While most of the book was very spicy, as is stated in the beginning of the novella, this was a very sweet scene. Foster wanted to help but didn’t want to push himself onto a very clearly needy omega without her begging first. Foster as a character is just so good, he hit all the right buttons in terms of spice and romance.
I enjoyed this short novella a lot, I loved seeing some familiar faces and I hope we see more of these characters in the future. If you want something short, sweet, and spicy, this is definitely a book to try!
This story is primarily male alpha lead POV, well written and edited, and a fantastic introduction to the author's style and omegaverse. I adored Foster’s calmness and patience whilst dealing with a relatively rude beta in Karen, the reporter conducting the interview. Whilst spicy, the series of vignettes focuses on relationships and Foster’s facilitation of positive experiences for others, in committed relationships or starting out. I enjoyed the variety of interactions displayed and the care between characters, as well as the philosophical exploration of alpha/omega/pack interactions. Given the nature of this story, it doesn’t have a HEA for Foster but he seems content in himself, which is lovely.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
First off I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I was intrigued by each new situation.
I love that it started with an incident that showed a need in the market. This Alpha has amazing control and I live that the motive was not selfish.
I honestly would love to read more of these but I also wanted more to them.
Being a type 1 diabetic I was super impressed with the depiction of the character and that the facts were actually correct. I can only imagine how hard control would be in a heat. I struggle with needing candy in the middle of normal circumstances. I'd be dropping left and right. I really wanted more of their story and experience but that's just fascination and seeing a correct depiction.
While I enjoyed seeing all the different needs I was left wishing for more in each one.
Heat Helper is a novella in the Port Haven Universe. We get the stories of Foster and how he started his buisness as a heat helper and different stories about his experiences as a heat helper himself. It starts as an interview where the beta journalist Karen is trying to shame him and write a scandalous piece about him and his job. But she gets a totally different story. Its a cute novella where we get to see so many cute characters. I would really like to see a lot more of these experiences, maybe from a pack view that needs a heat helper or something. I really liked it, it is well written and Foster is really likeable and a pretty standup guy.
The Port Haven Universe is to this date one of my favourite in all the RH Omegaverses, so thank you 🫶
What a fast, fun and extra spicy read from Amy Nova. This little novella gives readers a glimpse into the lives and heats of five different omegas and how Foster, a paid heat helper, supports them physically and emotionally through their most vulnerable moments. The book is set as an interview between Foster and beta reporter, Karen, who has some bias opinions towards alphas, omegas, and heats in general. Foster shares insights into why his role as a heat helper is needed in some situations through the stories he shares with Karen. If you’re familiar with Port Haven, be ready for a little cameo appearance by a certain omega as well as references to locations and other characters that are from previous books. It’s a super quick read that will definitely have you begging for more!
I’ll say off the bat I had a hard time orienting myself with this story. I’m not sure if it’s because it was such a different set up for a novella, or I had never read another one of Amy’s books, but it did take me a minute to get into it. Something to keep in mind when reading is the names of the chapters aren’t a change in point of view. All the stories are told through Foster’s POV, while the interview portions are through Karen’s POV. The names of the chapters are in fact the names of the clients that Foster is helping. The stories were fun little snippets, and it was interesting change of pace from the typical omegaverse narrative. Once I figured out how the story was laid out I really enjoyed it. Honestly I wish I got to know more about the characters we saw little snippets of!
Reporter Karen Hillcrest intends to set the record straight. She has her mind made up even before the interview begins. Foster Camden is nothing more than a sex worker whose hired limo destroyed the Exeter Town Square Park. Sure, he paid for his client's damage, but that's not good enough. Karen plans to expose all his ugly truths.
What a fun little romp this story is. It's a novella with surprising depth. I was expecting a bawdy tale but got more. And yes, there is plenty of humor and spice, but Foster delivered an intimate glimpse into the heat nests of several Port Haven Omegas during their most vulnerable times. I loved the interview format and enjoyed each story. Most of all, I loved Foster. I hope he packs up in a future book, so we get more.
Interview with a Heat Helper is a novella set in the Port Haven Omegaverse series. In this story we see Karen, a beta reporter, who is determined to destory Foster's career. Why? Because a joy ride in one of his companies limmo went awry. Karen wants to reveal all the details and get to the bottom of things. What she gets instead is a whole other story. Foster explains how he has been a heat helper and different stories of those he has helped. It is a well written story with characters that are completely relatable. I wish it had been a longer book as I can really see it expanding into more. Like the others in this series, I wnjoyed it. I look forward to more Port Haven stories!
This novella was the perfect little tidbit to get me through a Tuesday night. But it left me wanting more.
Foster (MMC) was the perfect storyteller, and Karen (FMC) was a sarcastic, snarky journalist. I wanted to read more about both of them and watch the fireworks explode between them.
I hope this novella is just the prelude to a story with these 2 characters. I can see their chemistry moving from slightly combative to oh, so much more!
This book is like a series of short stories of omegas in heat. This is done in an interview of a beta asking an alpha whose business is to help omegas and their packs, if she has one, get through the heat with information, a scent proof vehicle to get her safe, even helping one who has a medical condition (diabetes) with help. One omega had such a sense of humor, was a funny read. Just remember this is not your typical read it honestly like a series of short stories.
Simple and easy review. This is pure omegaverse smut. You know what you are getting going in and it doesn't disappoint. But it also does a good job building the character behind Foster. You learn a surprising amount about him in such a short book. Also loved seeing Moxie again. This is a quick and enjoyable read.
Rating 3.5 stars *I received a review copy from the author for my voluntary and honest review
This book was interesting as a snap shot into different heats and problems that could be experienced. I liked the idea of a heat helper.
It’s a short read and I enjoyed reading it but there was no real emotion to grab you behind the characters. It is written in the style of an interview and was like reading a magazine article.
I love OV from Any Nova, and this short novella didn't disappoint. I loved the plot and the client's stories were spicy and sweet. I especially liked how the Ontario's opinion changed after the interview. I look forward to reading more in this world and by Amy.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The storyline for this short story is very different from your usual omegaverse. Most of them have specific love interests with the intent of having a happy ending. This one is more geared towards Foster helping out others and enhancing their experiences. I really enjoyed him as a character and how unique the story was!
Unique really and I can tell you Amy outdone herself yet again. It's a short book but that is a okay here as it doesn't need to be a long one. It is fun and spicy and I love how you get to know a sm*x worker if you will and his vision and loved his name too. It being Foster. It is in the Port Haven world so you'll see certain people you may know. Loved it.
Wow. I loved this story. A different twist on Omegaverse. And I want to know more about Foster. Unusual to have a male protagonist as the focus of an omegaverse story. He is intelligent, moral, ethical and caring. I’d love to have him take care of me during my heat!
This story has a unique writing style. It alternated with part interview & part recounting past situations. In one it had Moxie as a character we met in another book so I wouldn’t mind reading books with the characters in the other situations too.
I really enjoyed this book. A couple short stories all unique, a little spicy. I really enjoyed reading about foster. And I kinda hope we see more of him!
A fun, spicy look at the life of Foster, a heat helper, through an interview. It chronicles his experiences with various omegas and packs as well as chronic illnesses. Very enjoyable.
What a unique way to tell a story. Honestly the first time I’ve ever read anything like this. I loved that it was different. It’s the bonus of a few different stories in one book and so fun to read!
This story was not what I expected 😂 I absolutely love the heat moments in omegaverse stories...I did not realise this was going to pretty much be only that.
I am not complaining, Amy wrote those scenes so beautifully and made the most heartwarming novella out of them!
If you like heat scenes with a story line behind them, this little book is for you!
This was fun! Definitely different than other books but it makes SO much sense in the Port Haven Universe! I really enjoyed it and the way it was set up. It was a fun time and although it's 98% smut the 2% plot makes you understand omegaverse dynamics a bit more!
