Booksmart meets Today, Tonight, Tomorrow in this page-turning romp about two archnemeses—the valedictorian and the class slacker—who band together for a whirlwind night after discovering that they need each other to achieve their very different sunrise goals.

Autumn Povitsky is a high-achieving, booked and busy, straight-A nightmare. She’s currently having a crisis of self—she needs a fake ID ASAP—but because she’s a total square, she has no idea where to get one.

Enter buzzcut hottie Tara Esposito. She’s a rule breaker and party crasher of the highest degree, and if anyone knows where to get a fake, it’s her. But Tara has hung up her James Dean leather jacket for the night. If she doesn’t finish this godforsaken essay that’s already weeks late, she can kiss her upcoming graduation goodbye.

One brainy girl who needs a fake ID before sundown. One serial rebel who needs to turn in an essay before sunrise. It’s obvious what needs to happen here. But with a years-long feud keeping the girls from working together, this may be a night to forget…or one they’ll remember forever.

With razor-sharp dialogue and fiery tension perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Casey McQuiston, All-Nighter is a caffeine-fueled labyrinth of chaotic escapades—from prom after-parties to library séances to underground roller discos—led by two enemies who must decide if working together is better than their worlds falling apart.

loved this omg. The entire story takes place over the course of a single night, and while I often find stories like that to be missing something, I surprisingly really enjoyed this one. I loved both characters, even though they were a smidge annoying. The first half of the book was quite hard to get through on account that it was corny and events quite unrealistic but I enjoyed the second half better! Glad I picked this up for sapphic september!!!

All-Nighter follows Autumn and Tara, sworn enemies who couldn't be more different, on one night in their senior year of high school where they realize they are each other's last hopes to get something they really need. As they spend real amounts of time together for the first time, they realize that maybe their hatred was unfounded, and over the course of the night, something more blooms.

Okay, so... I think All-Nighter will be good for a lot of readers, but I was NOT one of them.
I was skeptical from the starting scene, which certainly establishes character well but also... would simply never happen. (Autumn, who has not even graduated from high school, is left alone as the sole closer of the town's public library on a Saturday evening, and that's just the start.) Throughout the whole book I could not get past that... not to mention, the whole reason Tara and Autumn spend this night together in the first place is so that Autumn can get with a college-age patron at the library where Autumn works (?!?!?!) who thinks she's also a college student. That, the latte, the post-latte abandonment of the desk to hide in a supply closet, etc etc, continuously drew me out of the story and made it very difficult to sit down and commit to more than 5 or so pages at a time.

Once the night took off, it got a little easier, but there were still moments where I had to pause and be like... ohhhhhhkayy! Many descriptions were trying too hard, there were a lot of pop culture references that make me worry how this one will read in a few years, and Autumn showed a perception of libraries that made me wonder how she got her job in the first place, because it is so radically different from any library I have ever entered. And I work in one, so I've entered A LOT. I did find the back half of the book better than the front, and it dealt with some more weighty concerns, so didn't feel quite as frivolous and unbelievable.

I did really like the concept of the whole book taking place over one night... not sure whether I feel that was cheapened by the epilogue being set a month later or not, but ultimately I thought it was a cool way to go about telling this story. And I sure hope these ladies talked about their problems in the month between last chapter and epilogue because boyyyy howdy. I was rooting for them despite not liking them. LOL.

Ultimately, I think this will be a good read for booktok teens and adjacent, and I can see anyone liking it who doesn't get as annoyed as I do at library misconceptions and intentionally witty prose that is also (unintentionally?) just not that witty. And anyone who likes an enemies-to-lovers, especially a wlw one.

Before I get into my review of “All-Nighter”, I’d like to thank NetGalley and Quill Tree Books for the ARC!

I truly loved this book so much, the chaotic and fun nature of this book had me feeling the teenage spirit! I fell in love with all of the characters and all the crazy adventures that followed them.

I gave this book 5 stars and I’ve already recommended it to so many friends!

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

This book isn’t about character arcs or building up a romance; it’s a night of mischief, teenage hormones, and two people falling in love. It’s quick — so very quick — as the two girls have a night of some ridiculous adventures that hit a teenage checklist of prom, after-prom parties, illicit and secret parties, high schoolers pretending they go to college because their crush thinks they’re older than they are, doubts about graduation, doubts about college, fears that friendships will end once high school does, and a first kiss. It’s also pretty cute.

This just a fun, quick read with compelling characters and a slightly unbelievable plot. But it’s all in good fun, and I think it’s worth the read if you’re looking for a good YA rivals-to-lovers.

Rivals to lovers, with an epic night with high stakes and a time crunch.

(I'm still laughing that the MC was upset that the girl she liked didn't know that her twin was related to her when they're fraternal, go to different schools, and have different last names because for some reason their parents were Catholic and Jewish and decided to give their twins each of their last names).

All-Nighter is quite literally a wild ride. When you’re not with the characters at yet another party, you’re in a haunted inn or hiding from campus security in a supply closet. Which yes, gives you a very cliche romance moment, but you’re not entirely mad about it.

I don’t have many negatives for this book as it was pretty fun from start to finish but there were two things that did annoy me.

Firstly, I felt like I was wading through molasses with All-Nighter to begin with. I should have expected a slower pace as this book takes place across just a few hours. I actually think just making the chapters a little shorter would have helped with this. They weren’t particularly long, most were probably about 15 minutes, but my attention span isn’t great at the best of times so I did struggle to get going. I think All-Nighter would have benefited from being a little shorter to help keep the pace snappy.

Secondly, can we please stop saying a character wears glasses if you’re not going to have them wear glasses on the cover. It’s rare enough that main characters of books, especially romances, even wear glasses so it would be great to see them actually have them on in the cover art. I’m being a major nit-picker with this comment but as someone that wears glasses, it would be so great to have the main character in a romance book (which this isn’t entirely) wear glasses.

Anyway, rant over. Now onto the parts that were great, made me laugh or just outright happy. Yes, this part of the review mentions a dog.

Disney Infinity is not something I was not expecting to see referenced in a book published in 2025. Especially as the characters are only 17/18 and that game is fairly old now (I played it as a kid and I’m 26).

Any book that has a sighthound in it, a greyhound to be precise in All-Nighter, gets a tiny boost in its rating. I make the rules for my reviews and this is one I absolutely must follow now I’m a sighthound owner myself (I have a whippet that has just turned one, he’s the best). There’s a moment that mentions how the dog is sleeping with its nose pushed into its armpit in a weird position and this cracked me up as this is typical sighthound behaviour. My dog is often lying in the weirdest positions. Back to the actual book.

I was fully expecting to like either Autumn or Tara as to begin with, they felt overly stereotypical because of course the trouble maker queer teen has a shaved head and multiple face piercings and the academic lesbian wears tweed. Thankfully, they were much more than these stereotypes. Both Tara and Autumn go through a lot of character development in just one night.

The amount of antics they get up to in this one night is almost unbelievable. I can’t even comprehend pulling an all nighter anymore nevermind one that involves multiple parties, summoning a ghost and plunging into the freezing cold ocean. Yes, all of these things happen across less than 12 hours.

Overall, I’d say All-Nighter was a very good read but the pacing felt a little off at times. It does score extra points for having a greyhound though.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
All-Nighter is the third book I’ve read from Cecilia Vinesse, and like the previous two, it was a lot of fun. I was immediately sucked in, and with the book taking place over a single eventful night, the pacing mimicked that timeframe, keeping me invested throughout with all their wild shenanigans of parties and libraries and everything in between.
The prose definitely aids in this as well. It’s third person present, and while this did result in a lack of intimacy with the characters at times, I did feel a sense of immediacy due to it feeling like it was happening in the moment.
But in spite of the sense of distance created by the prose, I did still like the characters overall. Autumn in particular resonated, especially given her generally nerdiness and passion for books and libraries, but also the sense of escapism with her breaking the rules for the first time in her life. Tara was also fun, though, as she’s a major party girl who’s trying to turn things around academically by getting a big essay done in a single night. I loved the tension with their initial rivalry, but also how their bond deepened as their respective quests inspired them to see the other in a different light.
I had a lot of fun with this one, and would recommend it to readers looking for a fast-paced sapphic romcom!

Thank you to NetGalley, author Cecilia Vinesse, and HarperCollins Children's Books: Quill Tree Books for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

I love fun, sapphic YA stories!! All-Nighter is comparable to the movie Booksmart, which I adore, in that the story takes place over the course of a single night with two high school seniors, but in this case, only one of them is straight-laced. I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers, and I thought the dynamic between Autumn and Tara was electric. I totally bought their rivalry and obsession with each other, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout to see how their plans would play out. The stakes weren't very high in this read (at least on Autumn's end), and I would have liked to see a little more fun mayhem in parts, but I really enjoyed the plot line of them finding Franko and ghost hunting. I thought the secondary characters were great and well-rounded in both their individual characters and in how they were connected to Autumn and Tara. I didn't personally love how many current references/name drops to popular things were in the book, as I feel that it dates the story a bit, but I enjoyed Vinesse's writing and character work otherwise. The sapphic representation was perfect for YA, and I thought the inclusion of other queer characters was also well done; everything came across as super authentic and relatable. All-Nighter was a fun read to kick off summertime, and now I want to go watch Booksmart!

This was so cute! I flew through this story, it was immediately captivating. It had so many great things! Enemies to lovers, great tension between characters, and oh so much character development.

Autumn and Tara have been school enemies since Tara showed up at Autumn's school two years ago. They don't get along, they don't like each other, and they can't have a single conversation without bickering. Autumn is a rule-follower and Tara is a rule-breaker. When Autumn suddenly finds herself in need of a fake ID, she reluctantly seeks out Tara for help, but Tara doesn't have time for this, she has an essay due at 7am and if it isn't done she won't graduate. The two strike a bargain that leads them on a quest of epic portions.

I absolutely devoured this, it was reminiscent of an early 2000's romcom movie and I was here for it. It balanced its fun comedic moments with a serious look into how we feel others see us and how we see ourselves. I absolutely loved seeing both of these characters have realizations about themselves through the course of their shenanigans. This one hit me in the feels and was just a great time.

Absolutely recommend you pick up if you want a fun sapphic read that will keep you turning the pages. Thank you to the publisher for providing an ALC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was an INSTANT all-timer for me. When I tell you it IMMEDIATELY captured a special kind of magic that only the most iconic early 2000’s movies (think The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) can evoke. This author does something SPECIAL here. In the span of a single night, enemies become (~lesbian~) lovers (in a totally PG13 way). Friendships level up, relationships are forged, and destroyed, and built back again, in a way that is SO silly and ethereal in a way that only being a teenager can be. Our characters experience such honest growth and development on a totally misguided overnight quest.

Personally, this story is more than I ever could have asked for in a fun and easy read. It’s also a great recommendation for the teenagers at my local public library. There’s representation of so many different identities, interpersonal soul searching, and a sick catalog of music to go along with it. Kids can go on an EPIC adventure with our MC’s in a totally harmless and PG way. It’s also a new take on a prom night story.

20/10 🌟 Definitely give this one a go for a taste of some of the cutest situationshipery you’ll see in a while!!! You just simply don’t get up to this type of mayhem as an adult, so I’m so grateful to have spent the time with Autumn, May, Tara, and the ever iconic Franko!!!!!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC of All-Nighter.

Two rivals. Two differing goals for the night. One wild ride as they attempt to meet those goals and inadvertently get to know each other along the way opening up a slew of unrequited feelings. All-Nighter is one of those books that will draw you in and pull you by the hand as you follow Tara and Autumn throughout this unforgettable night.

This book was cute and fun and fast-paced. The dual-POV structure adds to our understanding of Autumn and Tara, as well as how they’ve viewed each other over the years and how that view is changing throughout the night. Focusing the storyline on one night where the two MCs are thrown together on a mission to help each other out was also useful and helped guide the story.

Both of Tara and Autumn’s backstories were well thought out and helped to inform us of why they act in certain ways. The supporting characters were also intriguing, and while I was annoyed with May and Ezra at times, I could still see the rationale behind their actions. And now I want to go to one of Franko’s Underground Nights.

I just couldn’t put this book down and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure Vinesse took us on.

Autumn and Tara are enemies. They're approaching the end of their senior year in an all-girls school and couldn't be more different. Autumn is the class president, debate team captain and straight A student. Tara is a cynical slacker in danger of not graduating if she doesn't submit an essay on Mrs. Dalloway by 7am the next day.

When Autumn's college age crush invites her to a 2am poetry reading at the university assuming Autumn is in college, Autumn and Tara strike a deal--Tara will get Autumn a fake ID and Autumn will help Tara write her essay.

This book takes place over this one night, with chapter headings noting the date and time. As an enemies-to-lovers book, it details the slow coming together of the 2 MCs.

It's for the most part a well written book and pretty engaging read. The reason I'm going with 4 stars instead of 5 has to do with some over-writing in the final chapters as each MC begins to learn the life lessons we come to expect from YA character arcs. While this is expected, it's a bit over-done here, especially with Tara. Less would have been more.

But overall, I do recommend this book. It's a great modern adaptation of Mrs. Dalloway.

I was provided an ARC by the publisher via NetGalley.

Two high school seniors- Tara and Autumn, are enemies? LOL as we know from the blurb they are in an – enemy to lovers’ story. True they seemly don’t like one another but there is definitely positive chemistry.
I am not the target audience for this but as a High School Guidance Counselor I love to read YA stories. It pleases me when I can recommend a book as well just talk about books and encouraging reading for fun.

I have no doubts my students would enjoy this ~ a rule follower and her rule breaker nemesis end up having fun. No doubt these two characters are witty.
However, I personally prefer a YA story with no foul language but I know that is normal and I am certainly out numbered.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Audio Children’s /Quill Tree Books for this early audiobook.

This is an enjoyable book about graduating, moving on, and a personal journey for two high school seniors-slacker Tara and perfectionist Autumn, a quest for a fake ID, a poetry reading, and an English paper that takes them to a coffee shop. Prom, several libraries, a closed roller rink, a few parties,a seance and the Atlantic Ocean. Told with alternating POV, the reader’s journey follows the characters and is deeply enjoyable, and the ending, very rewarding. Like most LGBT YA romances, this is as clean as a romance gets, with a lot of building relationships and connections before even a kiss. This is a clean, sweet. enjoyable book for teens-or adults who remember what it was like to be 18 and have everyone telling you your life was about to begin…and being unsure about what was going to happen next.

I had a pretty good time with this story. I really enjoyed the set-up of the whole story taking place over one extra long night. Not going to lie, though, I was stressed the whole way about Tara getting her essay done in time. I liked the shenanigans that occurred throughout the night and how it brought Tara and Autumn closer together. I even liked the parallels that Tara drew between the assigned reading and her adventures. The cast of characters were diverse and interesting.

While there is some character development, there's only so much that can be done in one night, so it's more about realizations than actual development. I definitely recommend this for fans of young adult books with lighthearted antics.

All-Nighter is a YA romance featuring Tara and Autumn in the final weeks of their senior year in high school. Most of the live action occurs over roughly twelve-hours between 6:40 pm May 31st and 7:00 am June 1st. However, as we learn in flashbacks, their relationship has been developing over the previous two years. It takes the exhaustion, exhilaration, and fear of the future unknown characterizing that period in life to finally push the women over their respective walls and into a relationship. The secondary cast includes several interesting characters with a few issues of their own. Collectively, their interactions with the main characters help provide a more complete picture of the young women. This is an enjoyable tale with a satisfying happy for now conclusion.

This was absolutely so much fun. I really enjoy stories with a full night of highly unlikely yet fun hijinks as characters speed to their high-stakes final goal...always interesting detours and conversations along the way.

Teacher's pet Autumn and rebel slacker Tara have little in common. But one night -- one long, unusual night -- Tara has something Autumn needs (a way to make a fake ID), and Autumn has something Tara needs (a way to pass her final class to graduate). Can they help each other before the night is over? Or will they kill each other along the way?

It has:
- sapphic enemy-to-lovers in high school exchanging favors
- late-night shenanigans like illegal roller-rink discos + ghost-hunting
- likable, realistic characters on the precipice of life change
- joyful celebration of living life, seizing the day

This was such a funny, wild ride of a single night of shenanigans for a rule follower and her rule breaker nemesis. These two characters were witty and have undeniable chemistry from the jump of the story. While I did enjoy the story overall, there were a few lulls here and there and a bit of repetition that could have been left out. I would still recommend checking this one out for a fun, summery story that shows just how much can happen in one night.

SO SO GOOD I was a big fan of the book today tonight tomorrow by rachel lynn solomon so when I read this book and it was basically the lesbian version of that I was bound to be impressed. Genuinely such a lovely book, the relationship between Autumn and Tara was so cute and the bickering was super funny to read. However, I will say I would love to find out Tara’s reaction to Autumns initial crush on Tara when they started at their school. Besides that perfect

I’d describe this as a worse version of Booksmart meets a better version of She Gets the Girl.

The characters aren’t always super likeable, but I didn’t hate them either. The characterization feels slightly inconsistent at times. I like the premise, but, despite taking place in only one night, there’s almost a bit too much going on. I like where it ended, though.

I enjoyed the story but sometimes I find the books that take place all in one 24 hour period a little hard to believe. The characters had a long history of animosity and the character development was amazing and beautiful but it requires a fair amount of suspension of belief that the full relationship came together in one night

Such a good book! I love queer stories and we need more like this one! Two characters simply living their lives while exploring new relationship. I loved the dual povs and thought each character had a distinct voice while still working well and contrasting each other.

All in all a really great feel-good romance!

This book was cute. I had a hard time getting into it at first, but by the end I was invested. I really liked all the little side adventures, especially the one in the roller rink. If you are a high school senior I think this would be an especially fun read, I am a freshman in college and I still enjoyed it even though I didn’t personally relate. If you love enemies to lovers, and small town adventures, check this book out. I would give it a solid 3.5 stars, I will definitely buy it once it comes out.
