I’m a huge fan of W J Gilbert’s Eerie Edinburgh YouTube videos and podcast, so was eagerly awaiting his book. And it did not disappoint. This collection of lesser known ghost stories from Edinburgh and beyond is a rich and dark brew. Perfect reading on dark stormy nights.
I particularly love the historical context given for many of the stories and the mix of story telling and first person accounts.
This really is a fantastic collection of ghost stories to scare you and to also make you wonder, and most of all it made me want to visit and explore Scotland further.

3 1/2 stars. Well written, but a little disappointing if you've seen the original videos on YouTube's Eerie Edinburgh. They do better on the screen; the photography is lovely and Mr. Gilbert has a beautiful voice. And having seen them, it's a bit of a letdown to read them.

The author does a great job of telling a story, and includes a lot of historical context. Worth reading, especially if you haven't seen the videos.
