There’s a lot of dating in this book as protagonist, Gill, attempts to find her soulmate once and for all. With a range of characters littering the book, readers are taken on Gill’s journey to find love… with just a little help from a dating agency.

Suffice to say, the writer has included a colourful cast of dates for Gill. My favourite parts of the book were when Gill is reading the profiles of prospective dates: it was fun trying to figure out whether any of the information included might have been elaborate parts of the truth! Matching this profile up to the characters made me feel like a detective as I tried to deduce whether the men were being completely honest with Gill. Furthermore, when we occasionally switch to their perspective, it felt like a freshening insight into how they really felt about Gill, giving clues as to whether this potential relationship was one-sided.

If I were Gill, I would struggle to have so many men on the go! This is frequently agonised over by Gill as she struggles to fit her dates in around her very time-consuming job. Running her own business as a Recruitment Agency, Gill suddenly comes to the realisation that she does need to create a better, healthier work-life balance. Working from seven in the morning to ten at night is not healthy and I was pleased to see this change in Gill as the narrative progresses.

However, for the life of me, I could not grow to like Gill. She came across as very pretentious and stuck-up. Her attitudes to restaurants and fine-dining were grating and it seemed like Gill knew about everything and anything – even if I thought she was wrong. Gill’s approach to life and dating came across as very shallow; I could not foresee her ever finding a man to settle down with. I don’t think it helped that she constantly reached out to her friends for advice – even mid-date. For a grown woman of 37 who runs their own business, I think I was expecting someone with a bit more common sense. True, Gill has been hurt by several relationships in the past, but her reliance on her friends became quite grating. In addition, I thought her friends were quite incorrigible in some of their behaviours, particularly Lisa, and disliked her immature ways.

The story took an unexpected twist to Barcelona. This part felt unnecessarily prolonged and, whilst there was some point to this holiday, I believe this part of the narrative could have been significantly condensed. I have thought Buchannan’s writing style to be quite detailed – sometimes unnecessarily so – and this holiday to Barcelona bored me that I found myself skimming through the narrative. In this case, less detail would have been welcome.

Although there were some unexpected twists in this story, I did feel like it was quite predictable. Tedium did set in at times when I felt the narrative really slowed and the writer took too long to explain or describe things. However, the dating ‘game’ of the story was more interesting and I was very intrigued to understand who indecisive Gill would settle with once and for all.

With thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was sent an advanced review copy of this novel by the author.

Susan Buchanan's second novel will appeal to anyone who would like a nice, jolly, easy read about a woman who signs up with a dating agency and all the men she meets through this.

The novel centres round not only Gill's dates but also the relationship she has with her three best girlfriends - there's plenty of 'girly' stuff to identify with! In one part of the story she feels let down by someone with whom she had hoped to have a deeper relationship; I thought this bit was very good, and will ring true with all too many of us.

This novel will appeal to 'foodies', too, or just people who love to go to restaurants, as there are many descriptions of those visited by Gill, her dates and her friends in various venues, both in Glasgow, where the novel is set, and in Barcelona - which brings me on to another area of appeal about the story. There are several chapters set in Barcelona, where Gill and her friends go for a short holiday. These chapters give a great deal of detail about the architecture, tourist attractions and history of the city, showing the author's great love for it - anyone who has been there will enjoy reading about a place they have experienced, too. I also liked reading about Glasgow itself.

To sum up - the sort of book with which you might curl up in bed after a long day - it's 'cuisine lit' as well as sort of grown up chick lit - Gill's a businesswoman, not a ditzy shoe collector!

I received an advance copy of The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan in exchange for an honest review.

Gill McFadden has a problem. Although she's achieved great success in her professional life (Owning one's own recruitment firm at the relatively young age of 37 is quite an accomplishment!), her personal life is a bust. Much to her friends' chagrin, Gill's so engrossed in her job that she barely has time to think about dating. But she knows there's something missing in her life and she wants to find a nice guy to share the ups and downs with. Unfortunately, her last few relationships were disasters, so she no longer trusts her ability to pick out the right man for herself. Enter Happy Ever After - a dating agency for well-educated, work-oriented people that Gill learns about when she sees an advertisement on a bus during her morning commute!

Despite her trepidation about joining a matchmaking service, Gill decides to give it a shot (What has she got to lose, right? And she can get half off the membership fee if she joins now!) Soon, Gill is jumping feet first back into the sometimes exciting, often frustrating, dating pool and she's got options galore! Cultured Anton, hormone-revving Charlie, fun-loving Irishman Sean, sweet, romantic Liam - Who will win Gill's heart and who will break it? No spoilers here, so you'll have to read the book to find out! But I will say that Gill's path to true love does not run smoothly, and she has to make a really difficult choice between two wonderful men in the final act of the book.

I truly enjoyed the dry humor in The Dating Game, as well as the poignant moments when Gill despairs that things will never work out for her. Fortunately, she has the support of her three besties - Lisa, Debbie, and Angela. These ladies are always there for her and provide some really funny color commentary about Gill's many men along the way. The author did an excellent job of capturing the group dynamic of female friends, all with very different personalities, and how they relate, comfort, and get on each other's nerves whenever they meet up.

All in all, The Dating Game was a very satisfying and entertaining read that I recommend to anyone who's a fan of Brit Lit authors like Jill Mansell, Harriet Evans, Carole Matthews, and Sophie Kinsella. Pick up a copy today and discover a new author in the genre who's equally adept at making readers laugh and shed a tear. Now I need to go back and read Ms. Buchanan's first book, Sign of the Times!

Firstly I’d like to thank the author (@Susan_Buchanan on Twitter) for sending me an ARC to read and give an honest review. The Dating Game is Susan’s second book.

I love the colour of this cover (it matches my blog theme beautifully) and the design which fits in so well with the story. Once I began reading I got a real sense of fun and realness from it, Gill had some great friends who reminded me of friends in my own life and I loved the banter between them all.

Gill’s dating history was varied and interesting, this made me look forward to her future dates from the agency as I had a feeling they would be memorable. Reading the dating profiles was a fun part of the book for me – I’ve never been involved with any kind of dating agency so the whole idea was fascinating and my nosy side just loved it!

I enjoyed the parts told from the male point of view because I wanted to know what they all thought of Gill. To begin with I couldn’t decide which date I wanted her to choose but as things became more complicated there was definitely someone who I favoured.

I found myself chuckling out loud on a regular basis whilst reading this book, the trouser malfunction and flying food incident were particular favourites!

The descriptions were fantastic and enabled me to picture everything so clearly, the trip to Barcelona was especially good and I felt like I was there with them even though I’ve never been before. As with her previous book, Susan paid great attention to detail and this made the book feel more real – reading about all the lovely food had me reaching for the kitchen cupboards!

An unexpected twist made me feel very sad which was something I hadn’t expected from this book, it made me rethink my previous predictions about the ending and at that point I had no idea which way it would go. In the end I felt that it finished in a satisfactory way and I would love to know what happens next for Gill and her chosen man!

A fun book with likeable characters and lots of twists and turns.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance review copy of The Dating Game from the author.

The book centres around the main character Gill who is a busy recruitment consultant with her own business in Glasgow. Setting out to find herself a man after a few failed relationships she stumbles upon a dating agency who aims to set her up with like-minded men. The book follows Gill's experiences playing The Dating Game. She encounters various characters and discovers she has trouble trying to keep up with the various men she is dating. Gill confides in her three friends and together they all have a laugh and a giggle about her dates. The book also sees Gill and her friends go on a long weekend break to Barcelona. You can tell Susan really loves Barcelona given the in depth detail about their visit to the city... you really feel like you are there with them.

If you like your chick lit, and are looking for a good giggle in a read... The Dating Game is definitely for you!

Gill is dizzy in love...

You would think someone who runs her own recruitment agency is capable of sorting out her love life effectively - wouldn't you? When it comes to love, Gill is dizzy. Ms Buchanan does a great job of portraying the conflicting traits of strength and weakness in the fabulous character whose dating experiences will make you laugh out aloud! Will the Happy Ever After dating agency succeed in finding Gill the man of her dreams, especially when the one she thinks might actually be 'Mr Right' slinks quietly away? You feel Gill beginning to lower her expectations and consider 'settling' rather than facing life as a single professional. A fun read and there will be moments that will remind you of people you know - those little traits that ring true. Does Ms Buchanan deliver an ending that brings a smile? Read it and find out - you will not be disappointed!

You'll love "traveling" through this book! There's so much to like here, it's hard to know where to start. Well-developed characters, beautifully described settings. I loved Gill's antics with her pals and her romantic escapades made me miss the dating scene--the adventure of it all. Discovering new people and places, the way new people can affect you. Even the at-the-time mortifying but now-hilarious bad dates! Buchanan nicely captures that world. And speaking of capturing worlds, I have never been to either Scotland or Spain, but after reading this book, I feel like I have an intimate knowledge of both. A satisfying read!

I have to be brutally honest and admit I thought this book may be a bit too "girlie" for me but hell no!! I loved the settings of Glasgow and Barcelona and loved the "real" characters. This is a must ladies :)!

A fun filled book with wonderful characters and delicious food set between Glasgow and Barcelona. Gill is looking for Mr Right, will she find him or not?
Debbie, Angela and Lisa are her friends and they sound like the best kind of friends, especially the girlie holiday to Barcelona which sounded fun. Maybe the one you are searching for is closer than you think!

Dating has never been this variegated and fun, thanks to Susan Buchanan. It's the one book that would get you back in the game!

For Gill it's all about work. More work. Much more work. Running her own recruitment agency, her only social life might just be meeting with the girls for drinks. No time in her schedule for herself. No time for her parents. No time for Dating.

Mundane. In one word that's how you would describe her life (unless, her life it's a carbon copy of yours then you'd get touchy). Sex-deprived. In one compound word (for fancy's sakes) that's how you would describe her girly bits. Think back when you too been out of the game (I don't mean dating) for long, and you have Gill: unnerved, less relaxed, frantic. Then one day, you are strutting down the street, feeling all Carrie Bradshaw after nailing some major paperwork, all of a sudden a bus hustles by, then you have that Sex and The City moment you've been longing for. Of course, what were you thinking! You don't see yourself on the bus (unless you own a sex column), you run a recruitment agency for fucks sake! What you see is a poster advertising a Dating Agency for professionals like you. You jump at it because it beats OKCupid (and even Facebook, you desperate ladies out there. I don't judge, the best lovers are first friends), say bye bye to all those weirdos that have come your way to try something with very refined people.

Until the profiles keep piling from the agency. Then you are going on dates that are interfering with your professional life. Karaoke, bowling, free dinners, free drinks, free lunch, art galleries, a Scottish wedding. For you it's all worth it because the hefty subscription fee could cater for a new wardrobe spilling with designer labels. For your friends it's all fun because you get to have more time discussing suitable profiles and not so suitable ones over drinks and dinner, noting down the red flags and the brownie points.

Then shit! You find out the world's biggest assholes hide in suits. By then you are in too deep, wondering why that guy isn't calling. Didn't he have as much fun as you did? When he doesn't call you hit rock bottom, struggle to pick yourself up. Finally you do. After all, these profiles don't date themselves!

That's just The Dating Game.

This book was amazing! So true to life! It's one of those books both the storyline and the main character are relatable. I mean 9.5 out of ten women have dated. A lot of women past thirty are single (please, I do mean it in a good way. Cheers women! Who needs men anyway!). Anyway, we all know the Dating Game is hard. All the fretting over what outfit to wear, 'Oh, will this guy love it if I touch up with too much makeup?', the 'Is he enjoying this as much as I am?', "No, kissing on the first date", "Oh, why didn't he kiss me? Did I have something stuck between my teeth? Or do I have BMO?—" *smell check* "—No, I don't!". So fun how Susan Buchanan captures it all, not leaving a snippet.—★ Oh, and lest I forget, "Does my purchasing a new set of lingerie mean we might be getting it on tonight?"

Gill was just a plus character. You know, I just found out Susan names her chicklit, 'Chicklit without the fluff." . Yeah, the genre is prone to many airheads we chicklit lovers know, but Gill's got the brains, the looks, the boobs. She's about the only chicklit character who'd agree she's hotter than a close friend. And as if that isn't enough, she's independent! Just like you when you were thirty-seven!—★★

Don't you love UK chicklit.—★★★ Anyway, that's not the point here.

The characters in this book are so, so, entertaining! You remember all the funny dating stories you relate to all your friends? Well, Gill has a lot of funny, weird, wolf in sheep's tailored suit to relate to you. There's Charlie, the nice-looking, buffed guy with a hidden agenda, Sean who gets plastered during a first date, Anton(!) the guy who'd ask whether he can kiss you, Gary who would take you from surprise to surprise yet you feel no spark, so much more! For if not Gill's friends, she would have ended up choosing the terrible profiles, so you would love Angela, Lisa (Raarr!), Debbie. All these with their discussions on who to date made this book a fun experience in the journey through dating!—★★★★

Gasp. You would, a lot! There are lots of Oh Moments of Gee, and you will be so shocked you are never going to see it coming. Frankly, you will feel sorry for Gill because sometimes you might have two choices. And all these two are incredible lovers. All these two give you the spark. So who would it be? It's a win-win with every choice. It's a lose-lose with every choice.

But I did love the ending, the whole book as a matter of fact! It was the kind that would make you sing Natasha Beddingfield's Pocket Full Of Sunshine.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to get back into the Dating game or not! Anyone who wants something or someone they can sympathize and relate to. Anyone who wants something true to life. This book kinda reminded me of Zoe Strimpel's 'What The Hell Is He Thinking?', you know the UK woman's guide to Dating/relationships/all the brouhaha. So if you've read that, Gill is simply acting out Zoe's dating horrors.

Let me just say that I had always been curious how dating services worked. The last book I've read about an upscale dating service was Champagne For Two by Patrice Wilton. With Susan Buchanan's book, I finally learned more about it.

Gill McFadden had been unlucky in love. So her friends tried to help her find the one. But even her matchmaker pals' attempt with blind dates were major fails. Then she found herself signing up for a dating services named Happy Ever After. Soon, a string of gorgeous men were vying for attention and date with her. There was Charlie, Anton, Sean, Gary, among others.

Things started up well with her first two dates. Charlie was charming and Anton was adorable. But the interesting dates soon stopped when she was unceremoniously embarrassed by a drunk Sean and got her trousers split while on a date with Gary. Oh my, those disaster dates were really disconcerting!

To distract herself, Gill and her girlfriends went to Barcelona for a much needed vacation. I have read stories about Spain's tourist attractions and a dear friend of mine had actually sent me a postcard of Sagrada Familia. Learning more about its design and history in the book was a big plus! (I had always wanted to visit Barcelona, mind!)

A mugging incident in Spain soon turned into a chance encounter when Gill went back to work. Liam became the apple of her eye. She decided to end things with Sean after a painful bowling incident and she ended her friendship with Gary after a wedding fluke. And she dumped Chancer Charlie after an encounter with his wife. Whoa!

But with Liam, everything went smoothly with their relationship, until someone appeared again in her life. A few months after their last romantic night, Anton came back and explained his side. What would Gill do? Would she forgive him, even listen to him? Would she continue her relationship with Liam?

I loved Susan Buchanan's characterisation of Gill and her friends and dates. The laughter, banter and pieces of advice that her friends gave her were vital to the story. I suddenly missed my circle of friends! awww... The way Angela, Debbie and Lisa show their support was overwhelming, even though there were times when they want to cut each other's throats. Reading the male's point of view was also a bonus. At least I was able to see what were on their minds while they were on a date with Gill.

The ending was somewhat a big surprise to me. I was really rooting for the other guy but Gill chose the other one. Who was who, you might ask.. Well, I'm not spilling any beans..

But let me share my favorite scenes from the book: 1) When Gill split her trousers and Gary had to accompany her to her home. 2) When Gill's mother open her bedroom door and saw her with daughter with a man in bed. 3) When Lisa came back from the restroom, only to find out that the two gorgeous men she previously saw were actually gay. 4) When Gill made a fool of herself in front of a child while throwing pins in a bowling alley.... and so much more.

In the end, I finally conceded and accepted Gill's decision and I was happy for her and her man. Her tumultuous journey of finding The One was really an exciting one and I say, Kudos to Susan for a job well done! :)

Gill McFadden was fed up. How come her friends ended up with guys they really loved and she didn't? (Chap 2).

Good question! Gill is an intelligent career women in her late thirties with a wonderful, dry sense of humor that readers will love - a perfect match for a novel about a dating service for successful people. She owns her own company (quite an accomplishment) and has just about everything else settled except companionship from a meaningful relationship. Enter the Happy Ever After dating agency for professional people.

'Short on time? High in qualifications? Half price joining fee - offer ends 30th September. Visit our website below.'

How many readers out there are in this exact same situation? There's got to be statistics for this because I, for one, know a lot of successful professionals who don't have the time nor the inclination go it alone in the dating world - a dating service is the perfect solution and this chick lit novel about a dating service for upwardly mobile, more mature singles (Gill is 37) hits the mark and fills a gap in the reading market.

Gill tries hard, she makes mistakes, she meets with good guys and bad. And Gill's got great friends, too; three of them (Lisa, Angela and Debbie) and they're hysterical together which creates many great scenes in the novel including a girls' trip to Barcelona rich in details (especially about food, food, and more food!) that will make you feel like you're right there with them. I swear I gained three pounds reading the book!

Gill browses dating profiles and what emerges in the story is a selection of very different guys (four of them - Liam, Sean, Charlie and Anton - each with very different qualities) and one really difficult choice for Gill to make. All the ingredients for a great read. Unpredictable, tense at times (especially when there's an aggravated knock at the door) and ultimately, richly rewarding. The kind of book that leaves a smile on your face and a desire to read more from this great writer, Susan Buchanan. Loved it. So glad she's releasing her fourth novel.

I hope she writes till her fingers fall off.

The Dating Game is a wonderful contemporary novel. From the title you know it will be about dating, Gill needs to get a social life and find a man to share it with, a workaholic Gill has been busy setting up her own recruitment agency in Glasgow and putting in long hours to make it a success. She wants more from life than just work, so she makes a bold move to join a dating agency.

The first 3 profiles of men quickly arrives and Gill asks her best girlfriends for their support and advice before agreeing to setting up her dates. Gill soon goes from no social life to a very hectic one as more dates get lined up. Charlie and Anton prove to be great initial first dates and Gill is encouraged to make second dates with them.

Meanwhile the recruitment agency business is so busy that Gill decides to look for more staff herself to help out, so she is in a loop of interviewing new dates, new recruits for herself and new recruits for clients.

Gill and her girlfriends have booked a short trip to Barcelona for the Merce Festival which takes place in September. This is a famous event in Spain celebrating wine and cava from the Catalan vineyards, the girls plan to include sightseeing, shopping, the beach and plenty of wine tasting. The trip comes at a time when Gill's relationship with Anton looks about to get more serious, but Anton is busy too, he must go to Russia on business.

The Barcelona trip adds lots of great descriptions of events, people and places, Gill is saved from a mugging by a fellow Scot, who she literally bumps into upon their return. She picks up the fast pace of her life once more and is busy with more dates, but what happened to Anton?

I really enjoyed this book and happily wanted to shout at Gill that she chose the wrong man, but that was my opinion I wonder who you would choose in her place?

The review was originally posted at Library Cat book blog.

Too busy to find the right one, too busy to love, but desperately longing to be loved. That’s so modern day story. Gill is too tired of being lonely, so when a bus with an advertising logo passes in front of her, she makes the decision. She visits Happy Ever After dating agency. And they set her up with couple of dates. What choice will she make? Who will she choose?

After reading Sign of Times, I fell in love with Susan Buchanan’s writing. So when she offered me her next novel in exchange for an honest review, of course I said “yes”.

The story follows Gill through her matchmaking ups and downs. Some of them are so funny, some of them so romantic, some so disastrous. I really loved Gill’s character. She is workaholic, divorced, disappointed in love from previous relationships, but dreamer and believer that there is someone somewhere who is the right for her. She is also great friend and great sister and aunt. I really enjoyed her journey to find her Mr. Wonderful. Dating is not easy at all. Ending as a serial killer’s victim is her best friends ‘ biggest concern, so they are always there for her , to save her and protect her. Her trip with them to Barcelona was very vividly described, and my memories from my journey there came back. Most of the characters were well developed, not just Gill, but also the men she dated. Each one of them had so unique character. Some scenes were so funny and I was giggling all the time.

Overall, The Dating Game is fun and lovely story. Don’t miss it.

This is perhaps a book about today's society, about todays women in it and how love is perhaps not an easy thing to find.

Gill has not been very lucky in love, but she has channeled her excess energy into creating a recruitment agency and has been single-handedly running it for many months. However, she is becoming wistful and now needs something else in her life. She wants to have that wonderful feeling of being in love.

She needs to get back into the dating game.

Set in Glasgow, Gill joins a dating agency and through that she gets to meet a succession of potential candidates, some are suited, some are not but they all had to the colourful tale that Susan Buchanan has woven in this story.

Gill is a 'real' character, she has not been made into a stereotype which sometimes infuriates me in these type of novels. You can relate to Gill. You feel for her as she has some rather hilarious moments and you can sympathise when perhaps she needs to tell some of the more keen candidates that it is just not working.

Anton arrives right at the start of Gill's dating game and it seems that her search may not be as difficult as she thought. Anton is someone quite different. Then in a twist of fate she meets another man not through the agency, Liam who captures her heart. From nothing to being able to pick and choose, it seems that Gill is going to find the dating game difficult to finish.

What will happen and who will she choose? It keeps you reading to the end and certainly was not the choice I would have made, but then that is what keeps this novel real and not some fluffy piece of literature to pass the time.

I won a copy of this book on the author's blog, and I was delighted as it had been on my to read list for some time.

Gill is a successful businesswoman, but can't seem to find a suitable partner. She decides to join a professional dating agency in the hopes of finding her perfect man. She goes on a series of dates with eligible bachelors, with some hilarious consequences!

I liked Gill from the start. She seemed like a friend, and as the story progressed I really felt like I got to know her. Her three best friends add humour and insight into her past relationship disasters, and I particularly liked Lisa. Their trip to Barcelona was very well written, it's a city I know and love, and the author really did it justice as well as giving a brief history of the city for those who wouldn't be familiar with it.

Gill's series of dates are very funny. They range from romantic to disastrous and they are very true to life, it wouldn't have been very realistic if they were all either great or terrible, so I was pleased that there was an interesting mix. There are enough twists in the plot to keep you guessing until the last page, although I felt the story ended a little abruptly. Overall a very entertaining read from a very promising author.

I really enjoyed this book, although I did feel constantly hungry reading it!

A career girl with a run of bad luck with boyfriends, Gill is on the look-out for a new man when she joins a dating agency. Unsure whether it is the right thing to do, Gill consults her best friends throughout the book – a great supporting cast – as she looks for love. Buchanan has a fabulous knack for description and scene-setting, and I particularly loved her cultural depiction of Barcelona and her capacity to bring to life sumptuous food – and men! Buchanan draws you into the believable main character, giving her depth and flaws, tugging at your heart strings while making you laugh along the way.

Might I have wished for a slightly different ending? Perhaps, but that may only be because I had grown so fond of the characters! I would thoroughly recommend this ‘thinking woman’s chick lit’ and, if you find yourself heading to Barcelona for a relaxing break, or simply want to forget your own troubles and get lost in a good book, make sure you have a copy of ‘The Dating Game’ to hand!

The Christmas Spirit is next on my Susan Buchanan list....

This is my first book by Susan but it won't be my last. She has a way of writing that captures you from the first page till the last. I liked most of the characters apart from Charlie who I found sneaky. Gill was a lovely lead character and loved hearing about what happened in her job and in her love life. I liked the idea of the dating site and this is what drew me to the book to begin with. I had hoped for a different ending but was still pleased with it. It was mostly set in Glasgow and found this interesting as I live there. I look forward to reading Sign of the times as it sounds right up my street.

I was a little disappointed in The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan. Having previously read her work I had higher expectations of this book.

The central section of the book relays a weekend trip by four girlfriends to Barcelona, the amount of detailed information about Barcelona made it feel more like a tourist guide book rather than an actual story - consisting of bars, restaurants and places to visit - for me, that section was too long. Once the girls return to Scotland the story gets back on track - it just felt at odds with itself.

A perfect holiday read, I finished this book in a day while soaking up some sun in Tenerife (so loved the Spanish flavour in the book.)

The books central character Gill is older than me but I could still relate to her. The highs and lows of her dating exploits remind me of my own similar experiences and makes me glad I'm in a relationship!

All in all a great read and who doesn't love a happy but unexpected ending!

Well done Sooz xx

This is a funny book with some great one liners. I really enjoyed the heroine--I'm sure many women will relate to her struggles in the dating world while balancing a career. The only thing that prevents me from giving it a five star is that there were times when I skimmed--which always feels like a let down. But it is funny. If you want a fun, lighthearted read, then give this a try. I will definitely look for more from this author in the future.

I'm having one of those 'what now' moments as I've just finished this...I've been immersed in this over the weekend, and am sooooo pleased it ended this way. Thoroughly enjoyed the characters, love the friendship that the girls have and can see 'my gang' doing exactly what they did ~ feel a bit 'lost' now...

This is a delicious summary of every perfect and nightmare date a girl has ever been on. Susan Buchanan’s writing is full of energy and humour. Her characters ring true, especially the awful ones. The main protagonist, Gill McFadden is sympathetic and believable; the reader is drawn into her story and I really wanted her to succeed in finding the right man. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I very much enjoyed this book. It was simple with no dubious plots. The main character was strong all through the story and the 'rest of the cast' were believable and humorous. I couldn't give it 5* because I got frustrated with some of the padding. Overall an interesting tale of the ups and downs of Internet dating dating

Read this after a recommendation from a friend . I enjoyed the setting and characters. The story was fun and I was exhausted just reading about the main characters social life. I felt involved and like one of her friends. Will try some of her other books.
