This question raced through Sam Brown’s mind as he burned alive alongside a dirt road in Afghanistan. At 24, he was pursuing his lifelong ambition of serving in the US military when his vehicle detonated one of the Taliban’s bombs. Sam was desperate for death to end his pain. Instead, a fellow soldier extinguished the blaze.
Sam’s life had been saved, but for what purpose?
Sustained by his newfound faith, Sam endured a long, painful recovery as he grappled with losing his physical identity, his military career, and his dreams of making an impact. Yet he also discovered the power of serving others and embarked on a seemingly impossible love story. In Alive Day, Sam shares his inspiring story of perseverance, hope, and faith, taking readers from the ashes of a life lost to the freedom of an identity that cannot be shaken.
Sam Brown is an American politician, businessman, and veteran. A graduate of the Military Academy at West Point, Sam also completed training for the US Army Infantry, including Ranger and Airborne Schools. He earned his MBA from Southern Methodist University and founded a company that provides pharmaceutical resources to veterans. During his military service, Sam received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He enjoys skiing and hiking with his wife, Amy, who is also a veteran. The Brown Family lives in Nevada, where Sam is active in community service and a candidate for the US Senate.
God gives us grace to continue our "walk" of faith.
I was happy to read this book. Sam and Amy are a great example of walking daily in faith. Their pain, like so many Americans are dealing with, can only be dealt with through Christ's gifts. I feel hope even if we seen to be a "society in decline." The amount of money spent, on this 2024 election, is unbelievable in my state. God can not see anything good about that nor can I. I will be talking about this book to family and friends, and suggesting they read it, too.
This book was spectacular. It’s one you must have a physical copy of because the pictures just take it to the next level. This book made me cry, it made me burst out laughing, and each time I would get up after finishing a chapter, it made me stand straighter, think deeper, and work harder in whatever I was doing next. Captain Sam Brown’s story is truly incredible, inspiring, painful, yet hopeful. I can’t recommend this book more.
Alive Day was recommended to me by my sister-in-law. I grew up in a military family, although I never got to serve. Severe hearing loss due to scar tissue on my ear drums kept me from serving. I have always regretted that I couldn’t serve, yet I spent 47 years in the ministry. Sam reminded me that it was God allowing me to serve in a way other than through service in the military which was my calling and His will. Alive Day is a well written and enjoyable read.
This is a story of faith in God and the perseverance of this man. He served our country and suffered horribly after stepping on an IUD. What an amazing story that is sometimes hard to read about the pain he had to endure, but amazing that he never gave up.God Bless him.
If you need encouragement, if you need hope, if you need inspiration this read is for you. Sam and Amy Brown don't hide or sugar coat the hard realities they have faced, but their story also offers hope that life can be beautiful even when it is far from what we may have planned.
For those seeking a life of deep meaning this is a must read. And for those feeling defeated by life, Capt. Brown points the only source of sure hope. “I’ve got you,”Sam says.
Amazing book! Would recommend it to anyone, but warning there are some graphic photos of the soldier during his recovery from burning alive. Miraculous and inspiring how people can make the most of their lives.
This is a powerful story of faith and hope in Christ during terrible adversity. Sam and Amy are great examples of how to continue with Hope during difficult times. I am so blessed to have read it!
This book demonstrates life’s more than the pursuit for happiness or accomplishments. Life is about faith in something bigger than yourself and every day that comes.
