Rob Liefeld is an American comic book writer, illustrator, and publisher. A prominent artist in the 1990s, he has since become a controversial figure in the medium.

In the early 1990s, self-taught artist Liefeld became prominent due to his work on Marvel Comics' The New Mutants and later X-Force. In 1992, he and several other popular Marvel illustrators left the company to found Image Comics, which rode the wave of comic books owned by their creators rather than by publishers. The first book published by Image Comics was Rob Liefeld's Youngblood #1.

He is married to actress Joy Creel.

Admittedly, I think this is my first time reading a Deadpool single issue comic! Haha Go Me! Lol I know Liefeld's art gets a lot of crap, but honestly, it works with the characters and storytelling. I had fun with one. (I bought this number one just for a variant cover lol)

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld returns for his last dance on the character that is his signature creation and most important contribution to the Marvel mythos and coffers.

Liefeld recently, in his own words in recent statements and his podcast, reiterated that this is his last Deadpool work, and Marvel work as well. Retiring from a character that has brought him fame and to focus more on personal work while his hand-eye coordination has not yet failed him.

Liefeld's last Deadpool story is going big with multiple characters as the cover showed. However, not everyone on the cover is inside the first chapter. Only 50% of the cover characters appeared, with the rest perhaps teased for a future appearance in subsequent chapters.

What's up with dragons in Marvel comics? This is the second straight comic book I read where mythological dragons are an antagonist in the story. This is also the case in Uncanny X-Men (2024-) #1.

As expected of a Liefeld Deadpool book, it lacks not for ultra violence. Less blood and gore perhaps, because only ashes remain after someone gets incinerated by dragonfyre.

I think this is going to be a fun romp and I'm in it till the end. It might even end up as a fitting send off to the author's Marvel work. 3.5 stars rounded off to a four.
