This was quite the journey 🖤 Thank you to Saz for letting me read this as part of your ARC team & for introducing us to your world and making us part of Ivan & Aliyannah’s. Hold on folks, this debut mafia romance will have your heart racing till the very end & what an ending it is!

Aliyannah stands out as a strong, compelling and caring FMC taking on the bratva head on. She’s loyal & fearless, ready to defend those she loves.

I had a bit of a hard time getting used to the 3rd person narrative for this type of story. The foundation is set for next chapter & I’m looking forward to reading what happens next and learning more about Ivan!

I want to say congratulations to my friend for making her writers dream come true! Here’s to the 1st of a blossoming series of books 🖤

ARC review!

Aliannah and Ivan *chefs kiss* are amazing. Their relationship is beautiful, there is not much spice, however, the story makes up for it with great plotting!!! I devoured this book and was mortified with the ending so role on book 2. The sass amd Grovelling in hold in gave me super expectations.

Thank you for a great read Saz x

I had the privilege to receive an ARC of this book. This review is my opinion.

This mafia-lite story is the debut book for Saz Taylor.
I say mafia-lite because, although the MMC is in the Russian Mafia, it’s not spoken about in great depth or detail. The focus of this book is the love story between Aliannah and Ivan and the challenges they faced to find each other again.

Ivan loves Aliannah so much, there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. He’s like a dark knight who will stop at nothing to ensure her safety and happiness.
One thing I really appreciated about this book is that he never once expected her to quit her job. In fact, he supported her career goals throughout the book. In too many books, the billionaire swoops in and declares that his woman never has to work again. So happy this didn’t happen here.

We also see a great friendship between Aliannah and her BFF Michelle. No jealousy, no cattiness. Just pure love for each other and wanting the best for the other.

The story is fast paced in the first third but then it just slowly drops from there. Although It does end on an intense cliffhanger, the majority of the book leaves you wondering “ok, where is this going?”

It is very low on detailed spicy scenes- The reader is given enough detail to use their imagination. So, if you are looking for super spicy, you will not find that here.

Looking forward to book 2!

SOLID debut novel and devoured in one day! Easy read and just what I needed after such a complicated fantasy tandem. All the “mafia action” happened in the middle so it was a bit slow for about 20% toward the end.

But the END?! Ummmm…I neeeeed that 2nd book…like SOON!

Congratulations Saz Taylor! Well done indeed!

I really enjoyed this Mafia Dark Romance. I would describe it as dark romance light. Great for a dark romance intro. This is a 2nd chance romance and has a couple of twists that I didn't expect. I love Michelle as a side character and really enjoy her friendship with Aliannah. That ending, though, wow... Everything was great, and then bam!!! I need the 2nd book now!!!

My only frustration was that it was in the 3rd person, and there were some grammatical mistakes, but that doesn't bother me too much!!! I also wanted a bit more detail with the spice. However, the plot more than made up for this.

I fell in love with this book. The story line never veered off and was very consistent. The love story between Aliannah and Ivan is every girls dream! Through misunderstandings, fear, and love they always knew what they wanted and that was each other. It’s mild spice so over you’re looking for something with a lot of spice this would not be it for you but I recommend you give this book a try anyway, it is just to hard to put down. Very well written and I can’t wait to read more by Saz Taylor!! Also thank you for allowing me to be apart of your ARC team!!

〰️Thank you to Saz Taylor sending me an Arc copy of her book for an honest review. Release: 6th October 2024 - Pre-order available now on Kindle🌹〰️

⚠️ CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS ⚠️
Be warned this is a dark romance and triggers are riddled within this book if you venture forward, hence please keep this in mind. Some of them are as following;
Betrayal, death, guns, kidnap, knife, revenge, stalker, spice, torture, violence...

You have been warned and informed.

🌹 Second Chance
🌹 Russian Mafia
🌹 He Falls For Her First
🌹 Billionaire MMC
🌹 Stalker Vibes
🌹 Toucher Her and Die
🌹 Possessive MMC
🌹 Strong FMC
🌹 Cliff-hanger

This is a second chance dark romance. Ivan - someone from her past - starts sending her bouquets of flowers with an apology at first, despite her never revealing where she was staying. Now how did he know her address? A baffled Aliannah brushes it under the carpet to focus on her present and gets on with work. She didn't want anything to do with her past anymore. But do the mysterious bouquets by Mr. I stop arriving? Of course not.

"Aliannah, darling, please - I."

Even after she comes home from her friend's birthday celebration, there's another one. She quickly realises now that Ivan has indeed been following her around, and that night she goes to bed furious, rightfully so. Upon waking the next morning yet another bouquet is waiting for her with a message. Next time he sends a diamond necklace to catch her attention...

"Aliannah darling, this sparkles just like your eyes and the sea - I."

But she doesn't want anything to do with Ivan after he betrays her. All she wants is to move on in life and forget about him, live her life happily in New York. Does he let her? Of course not, he follows her there. He's a very persistent man and he wants to possess by any means possible.

She eventually meets Jasper, a CEO of his own media company and they both hit it off. On a second dinner date with him she gets a text with Ivan telling her that Jasper better keep his hands to himself.

"Aliannah darling, did you really forget about me so soon? -I"

Eventually she breaks the no-contact rule and tells him to leave her alone. Frankly he puts her life at risk and she won't put up with his dangerous tactics to keep Jasper away from her. She thinks it will get through his thick skull until she discovers him waiting for her right outside her door.

How did he get here? What does he want? Does he think she'll go back to him? Just why won't he leave her be? She's furious, anxious and constantly on edge. From here on out the story grows and twists into something more, something darker and enticing. And he doesn't like the word 'no' and is here to convince her otherwise, even if she doesn't appreciate his efforts. He even warns her about Jasper. But Jasper isn't the dangerous one...is he?

Ivan invades her home, her privacy, follows and knows her whereabouts at all times, demands that she only belongs to him whether she likes it or not. It drives her insane. Not me though, I'm on the edge of my seat and I literally giggle and kick my feet whenever he calls her 'darling.'

She lay very still, trying to take in all the sounds around her. There was a pipe dripping somewhere. She could hear what sounded like train horns or boat horns— it was hard to tell which. Aliannah tried to sit up, but her head was throbbing. She groaned and lay back down. She heard something shuffle. She froze.

At the 39% mark - chapter twenty - did it pick up the pace a lot more for me. And my attention was fully being taken by one of the biggest whirlpools I've ever been caught in. I ended up loving this book more than I expected. The shock! The twists! The revelations of who is actually WHO! Oh my Lord. Made me visibly gasp at the invisible camera in my room.

That cliff-hanger? So good. The story has everything you want; the right amount of darkness, splash of stalking and spice, a hint of suspense, thrill of a deranged man from the Bratva claiming you for himself, kidnapping by dangerous men, mafia feuds, blood and murder, revenge, true friendships, light-heartedness, humour, and so much more.

Truly, if you like possessive MMCs who try to kill any other potential love interests in your life to get you back, sends you bouquets one after the other, stalks you, wants to make you his under any circumstances, this is the one for you. Not to mention that he's from the mafia life. Gosh. What an experience.

Now, it took me a while on my reading progress simply because of how my life loves throwing hurdles on me, otherwise I would have finished it long ago. Second chances aren't usually what I go for but I was challenging myself to read something I thought I would not like the second chance part, but surprise surprise, I didn't mind it all since the plot ends up pulling me in deeper and deeper. I dare say I might give second chances another chance. See what I did there?

The only thing I didn't like was the last few chapters before the cliff-hanger dragged on just a little bit, it could have been condensed, but either way, I did enjoy it. Such a good experience overall. I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment❤️

“Hold on, darling. Keep fighting. I am coming for you.”

Hold On is an incredible debut novel. I tend to lean toward first-person but I actually enjoyed the change of pace reading third-person about Aliannah and Ivan.

It was quite a fast paced book with lots of drama and twists and turns. All the way through Aliannah stands out as a strong, sassy and independent. She has a fantastic friendship with her BFF Michelle too, no drama or cattiness between them which is refreshing to see.

Ivan loves Aliannah so much and is so caring and thoughtful throughout. It's clear he would do anything for her. What a romance!

That cliffhanger too!!! Can't wait to read the second one!

“Hold on, darling. Keep fighting. I am coming for you.”

This book where do I begin?!
It’s a debut novel and it was amazing.
I di have to say, in the beginning I had to get used to the writing style. It’s very 3rd person and the names are mentioned alot which threw me a bit.

Also in the early chapters it felt like stating facts instead of a story which didn’t help me really get into it which was a shame because the story grabs you.

But the further you get the more of the authors style you and eventually i got sucked in I think it happend around the 35% mark and i couldn’t put it down.

Their story is so grabbing and loving but it also has angst in it.

I loved that a certain parts you got a change of POV. It really helped the story.

Michelle is the bestest of best friends you could have how she stood for Aliannah, was there for her and just everything.

Ivan is a man of the dreams! He is just so wholesome! How he gets her peonies, always remembers what she loves. Is there for her and wants the best for her.
The little notes he leaves (even in the beginning when he is stalking her swoon..)

Overall an amazing book but the beginning was a bit hard to really get in to it.

The ending tho i was balling, will not say more than that, that will be for you to figure out.
But let’s just say i cannot wait for the second book.

Just a little quote to let you get a bit of Aliannah.
Who as it says is such a strong person she overcomes a lot. Faces a lot. But is such a fiery fierce and sass person. Do wish she had more real sentences we could quote instead of she expressed her annoyance or expressed her thanks.

“I call this ‘the Ali’, pretty and sweet with a dash of sass.” ( It’s a pink drink😉)

"Hold On" by Saz Taylor is an exceptional debut novel that captivates with its blend of mafia romance, action, and deep emotional stakes. The story revolves around Aliannah, a fiercely ambitious woman whose resilience shines through her struggles. I was particularly drawn to her strong bond with her friend Michelle, which adds depth to the narrative.

Ivan, the male lead, is simply swoon-worthy. His devotion to Aliannah is palpable; he protects and cherishes her in a way that makes their romance truly compelling. The supporting characters, Michelle and Gavin, enhance the story, creating a rich tapestry of relationships that enrich Aliannah and Ivan's journey.

The pacing of the novel is dynamic—starting off with a whirlwind of twists, slowing down to explore character development, and culminating in an intense cliffhanger that left me breathless. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and am eagerly anticipating the next installment to discover what lies ahead for these unforgettable characters!

I got the opportunity to read this book as an Arc, and I am blown away. It was outstanding. Aliannah has moved up the ranks as one of my favourite FMC. She is relatable, funny, and iconic! I love her to absolute bits, and Ivan is just, omg words do not describe my love for that man 🤭

The plotline was consistent and kept me realed in, I physically wasn't able to put the book down and read it all in one sitting. The touch her and ☠️ trope, one of my favourites and brilliantly used in this book. Normally, second chance romances wouldn't be one of my favourites, but it was perfectly executed in this book. The ending had me reeling!

This book has slowly risen to one of my favourite dark romance books with stalker vibes incorporated in, and honestly, I wouldn't complain if Ivan wanted to stalk me.

Would definitely recommend this book 100 times over. Read it and fall in love with Aliannah and Ivan just like I have! 💕

Wow just wow . I seriously cannot believe this was Saz Taylor’s Debut romance. And even better a Mafia trope which just so happens to be one of my absolute favs to read . Aliannah and Ivan’s love story has to be one of the most beautiful and emotionally charged journeys I’ve read in quite a while. No really I definitely was not prepared for how invested I would become in both characters together and separately. And the emotions I felt while reading well they truly were all over the place . I mean everything from speechless, to yelling outta frustration, to smiling, laughing, crying and rooting so so hard . One of the things I loved most about Ivan , was how protective he was of Ali , the love he has for her , the way he would do absolutely anything for her , was so beautiful. These two definitely have their challenges and obstacles to work through and find their happy ending but together they really are a force to be reckoned with

I was blessed to be able to have read this as an ARC. Let me tell you, it was amazing! I loved all of the little plot twists that were thrown in there. I really thought the guy doing Milena was Jasper (Viktor) boy was I wrong. Ivan is a pretty tame member of the Bratva compared to other Bratva books I have read. I loved how strong and resilient Aliannah is. The ending killed me I hope there is a second book, I need more. The story keep me engaged and turning pages like it was my job! Saz did an awesome job with the character and plot development, I don’t feel like any detail was missed. I definitely recommend everyone who loves a good mafia romance to give this a read!

The plot twist really got me. I didn't expect that. That's exactly how I felt about the ending of the book. At first things seem to end happily for Ivan and Aliannah. But unfortunately there is no happy ending.
It definitely ends with a cliffhanger.

The way Ivan treats Aliannah is cute, but with some stalker attitude. I love that Aliannah is a strong, clever and independent female.

But I don't want to spoil anything for you.

In my opinion the spicy scenes could be described in more detail. But if you have a good imagination, it's gonna work for you too.

Hold on is Saz Taylors debut book.

I had to get used to the fact that the book was written in the third person.

(ARC Review: I had the honor of reading the book in advance.
What I would like to add is that my native language is German. The book is also suitable for people with English as a second language.)

A really great debut novel by Saz Taylor.

“Hold On” was one incredible debut novel. It’s a mafia romance with plot twists, action, betrayal, love, family and more. I really fell in love with Aliannah as the FMC. She was very career driven and an amazing friend to Michelle. She endured some hard things in this story and didn’t allow it to break her spirit.

Ivan made me SWOON. This man’s love for Aliannah was something else. He truly loved her, protected her and spoiled her like no one’s business. Michelle & Gavin really added to the storyline and were amazing characters to include into Aliannah & Ivan’s story.

The pace moved quickly at first with so many twist, h then it was a bit slow for a while, and then that ending with that intense cliffhanger was ABSOLUTE MADNESS. I enjoyed it very much and CAN NOT WAIT for book 2 to see what happens next!

This is a dark romance mafia story that requires you to check the trigger warning before reading if you have any. This story was great. The suspense, the thrills, the shock when that first serious plot twist hits of who is who and what role they really played.. had my jaw on the floor. Allianah is a strong female character! I absolutely loved her!! That woman is a survivor after what she went through! I actually disliked Ivan at first but he grew on me. The characters in this book are so well developed and experience so much growth throughout the story. Ali and Ivan seem perfect for each other.
The story itself is amazing. I really enjoyed the plot. However, I don't think 3rd person worked best for this story. It would have been more enjoyable in multi-pov. Other than that.. its was well done and I would recommend giving it a read.

I want to start off by saying that I received this as an ARC. I did not enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. I feel like I am the odd one out because all of the other reviews are so good!

I liked the plot and really thought the book could have been really really great, butthe writing style felt very "point form" to me. "Aliannah did this. Aliannah said this." Maybe I'm just not a big fan of 3rd person writing?

It's also important to note that this is a debut novel. There will obviously be kinks to work through for remaining novels. It did leave on a cliff hanger so I think I will give the second one a read when it gets published to hopefully the series will redeem itself! 🙌🏻

This book had a hold on me. I ate up everything in it and never wanted it to end.
Aliannah goes travelling but returns with a broken heart but is luck she has Michelle her best friend who there is nothing she won’t do for her.
Enter Ivan omg he is amazing. The relationship he and Aliannah have is beautiful and something girls wish for.
The only down side (if you can call it that) was the book was missing spice but sometimes it’s nice to read a clean book if you know what I mean.
I was devastated by the ending leaving me on a cliffhanger how could you do that to me Saz??
I can not wait for the next instalment.

Not great

The perspective this is written in does allow a clear view into the characters emotions. Every scene seemed half thought out. No image was clear with detail. The climax of the book happens midway through and then finishes with a bunch of uneventful tasks that could have wholly been avoided and left out as it had and given no context to the ending plot. The ending, although left on a cliff hanger that has the potential to lead into another book, the build up for this next stage was sorely lacking and not leaving much desire to pursue the following potential story line. Overall, lacked emotion, detail with no relatability.

This was such a good book. I loved how strong and fierce Aliannah was from start to finish, even when she was being tortured at the hands of someone she thought she could trust she kept that fiery attitude. Ivan never gave up on her, he had such loyalty and devotion to her so much so he stalked her. This was a story where they had to count on each other even through the worst of times. That ending though i didn't see coming. I really enjoyed this and i'm glad i got the opportunity to arc read this

I'm not usually a fan of third person writing but once I got past the fact that the story was written in third person. I really enjoyed it, like really enjoyed it.

Great character development! The FMC was amazing 🤩 definitely one of my favourites now.

It's pretty fast paced. There's plenty of drama and suspense.

The plot was great. And the plot twists were twisting!

The spice wasn't very spicy (but maybe that's because I'm a thirsty whore 😂) but gave enough that you could use your imagination.

The Cliffhanger though.
Can't wait for book 2.

I was lucky enough to receive this as an arc and wow what can I say. I’m not usually a third person point of view reader I prefer first person but I really enjoyed Saz writing style. It started off a bit slow but once it started it got good. I was drawn into the characters and their stories. I felt like it needed something a little bit more as for me the middle was full of drama then it stalled a little bit and then it ended like that?! I will definitely be reading the next in the series. Would love Michelle and gavin story. Or more to Ali & Ivan. I would definitely recommend this book!

Hold On is Saz Taylor’s debut novel. It’s a mafia second chance romance told in a 3rd person/narrative style of writing. This was my first read in this type of writing and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. The author did a fantastic job with making sure the story was told well and that as the reader you could understand what was happening from all characters. As well as making sure you understood how they were feeling almost as if it was a written in a duet style.

I do give this story 3.5 stars

This book was so good! I was grateful to read it early. I feel like so much of what I love would spoil this for others. So I’m going to just say if you love a mafia romance you will love this. If you love a book that’s hard to predict, you will love this. I think the only thing that I wanted was more spice, but that’s just who I am as a person lol. The love story in this book is very much your touch her and die, so if you love this trope this book is for you. I am looking forward to the next part!

Oh my goodness, what a superb book. The story has every element you need from a book. It has suspense, trauma, heartbreak, romance and spice. It was so gripping especially around chapter 20 which resulted in me not being able to put the book down and had to finish it.

The romance between Ivan and Alianna ends with a nail biting cliff hanger. I will not spoil the plot but there are a few twists and some unexpected surprises.

This is the first book in the series. I cannot wait to read the next one.

I was lucky enough to read this book as an ARC read and just wow!
I will say I struggle to read books that are in 3rd person and that’s the only downside for me with this book!
The storyline was amazing, the drama/ suspense was incredible, its was sad, funny and just an enjoyable read! Not as spicy as I normally read so I’d put it at 2🌶️/5 but there is still some spice there!
Still an amazing book

The female main character in our story transcends the stereotype of a "strong independent woman"; she embodies compassion, care, and intelligence. Her journey is captivating, and I eagerly anticipate the developments between her and Ivan in the future.

Despite my frustration with the conclusion, as I am eager for the second book, I wholeheartedly recommend this read. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am confident that others will as well.

didn’t care for 3rd person, but great read

This book is a fun, fast paced ride that ends on a cliffhanger. Allianah is a great FMC with a ride or die bestie who has her heart broken while on holiday in Europe.
This book is in 3rd person which I didn’t care for.
Also, the mafia touches are very light
other than the the author did great with her storyline and characters. It’s a wonderful debut novel!

I was able to read the ARC. I don’t normally like reading third person books but, her writing style made it easy to follow. The FMC was relatable and the MMC was very dreamy with the way he treated her. I felt like the story could’ve been condensed a bit after the 60% ish mark. Overall, I liked the plot and Ivan calling her “Darling” all the time?!?! I loved that. The ending though??? A bit abrupt and I hope that whatever comes next will complete the story a bit more.

This title for the book is so fitting. It helps prepare you to hold on to your kindle or physical book for a ride of your life (for your eyeballs). The story inside tells a tale of the heroine and hero who are trying to co-exist together again with their second chance at love. Like any good alpha hero, he is hard headed and does what he thinks will be good for his heroine.
