Rate this book
A sequel to the world-wide bestselling phenomenon Tiny Blunders/Big Disasters!

How is history really made? It’s not always the major events but rather a mosaic of many small events that often form critical turning points in history. Some of these small events were seemingly tiny mistakes that led to great disasters. Such The End of The Roman Empire. The Fall of Constantinople in 1453 came about because someone forgot to close and lock a major gate. The Sinking of The Bismarck. The captain of Germany’s largest battleship decides to break radio silence after being warned not to do so, contributing to the sinking of the Great Ship and an enormous Allied victory. Laboratory Mistakes. Two of the biggest developments in medical history took place because of mistakes in the laboratory. One saved many millions of lives; the other cost the lives of over ten million people worldwide. Learn the intriguing story of what they were. This well-researched book takes you into the deep shadows, the black holes, and the Nooks and Crannies to give you the facts behind the big events. Learn about mysteries and resolutions that you never knew existed. These puzzling situations and their outcomes for better or worse have determined the course of human history.

These are bizarre, hypnotic stories your history teacher never taught you.

The first 1/2 of the book was interesting and insightful. He lost me when he started repeating far right conspiracies and attacks on Dr. Fauci. One would think that someone of his intellect and education would not be lauding Donald Trump !! I wish those hadn't ruined it for me.

I very much enjoyed the first volume and was excited to read the second.

The content was interesting. I especially liked finding out more about a few topics mentioned in the first book.

However - there were three things that ruined this book for me.

First, the editing is terrible; there are numerous typos, and sentences are randomly italicized. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there is no reason not to present the stories as an unbiased narrator.

Second, I guessed the writer was from Texas and a Republican based on some very biased statements in several chapters.

Third, and IMO worst, I was immediately turned off by the cavalier, tone-deaf joke that a particular individual in one of the stories might have benefited from a little Autism. He then doubles down on the joke by starting the next paragraph, "but seriously."

It's unfortunate because it's such an interesting subject and the first volume was fantastic.
