A killer is making his list and checking it twice . . .
For the past six years, a killer has struck on the same date in random locations near Fairbanks, Alaska. The victims have no connections, leaving investigators with few answers and no suspects.
The daughter of the December Dismemberer’s latest victims pleads with the Arctic Circle Murder Club to take the case. The group of six podcasters travel to the scene of the last crime—a reindeer farm transformed into a vacation destination. With the ominous date fast approaching, the team races to solve the mystery.
But as if battling subzero temperatures, raging snowstorms, and a twisted killer aren’t enough, the team begins to suspect the killer isn’t the only one harboring secrets. Someone would do anything to keep the truth hidden. Even if it means . . . telling only one more lie.
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
Only One More Lie by Christy Barritt features the True Crime solvers that have been in previous books. This story takes place at a reindeer farm. Barritt does a wonderful job at crafting a mystery that kept me glued to the pages of the story. Twists and turns were true to her writing style, and readers will be enchanted by the continued action throughout the whole story. Since readers are so familiar with the characters, it was a continued investment to spend time with these characters. The romance between two of the characters blossoms a little more. A little shaky at times, but it still continues to mature. As for the setting, Barritt did a wonderful job at bringing readers into the cold of the story. Overall, Only One More Lie by Christy Barritt is a fabulous read to enjoy this time of year for readers of mysteries with a hint of romance.
I received a complimentary copy of Only One More Lie by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.
What a way to make snowmen creepy! I loved the Christmas camp setting and depth of this mystery. The serial killer was creepy, as intended. Once again, a page-turning mystery that really did keep me guessing!
Get ready for a wild Alaskan adventure amidst suspense and danger. A serial killer strikes every December 6th. Can the Arctic Circle Murder Club true crime podcasters find the killer and stop him in time? This story takes place on a reindeer ranch/resort, where a double murder occurred the year before. The powerful drama draws readers into the powerful tale and keeps them engaged and guessing who might be behind the crimes. If you like clean suspense, you’ll enjoy this novel. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
And here we go again…great characters, suspenseful plot, non-stop tension, and my brain working overtime trying to figure out who-done-it! Christy Barritt knows how to keep you on your toes. This series wasn’t supposed to be this long, but the stories just keep coming and I have to read them.
Clean, low-key Christian fiction, no bad language, no sex. But beware, once you start…it will be hard to put down!
"What's with all these secrets everyone seems to have?"
Lies, secrets, murders . . . . it was the murder of her parents nearly one year prior at Borealis Reindeer Camp outside Fairbanks, Alaska that prompted Juniper Burrows to summon members of The Round Table podcast to her beautiful resort property. A serial killer dubbed the "December Dismemberer", for the heinous way body parts of the victims were built into snowmen, was still at large and if past history was an accurate indicator of his pattern, another death was only four days away.
It didn't take the podcasters long to realize that just about everyone they met could be considered a suspect, but unfortunately before incriminating evidence could be gathered, tragedy struck again.
Another fabulous "cat and mouse" storyline with a dangerous deadline amidst characters whom readers have come to know and love . . . . but do they know everything??? . . . . a rather significant surprise is in store, along with some lingering romantic tensions that need smoothing out.
Christy Barritt has done it again!! Just when you feel like it might be safe to live in Alaska, she shows you that no place is safe, even during the most wonderful time of the year!! This story has it all, including more false leads and rabbit trails than a group of hunters with their dogs in the Appalachian Mountains! Or should I say the White Mountains in Alaska? I loved this story and I love the way Christy continues to develop and grow this cast of characters that feel like close friends and family now. Faith is a prominent part of the story yet it’s never preachy or in your face. The main theme through the book is the lies everyone is hiding, hoping to keep their secrets safe, including one of the podcasters. I never saw the ending coming although I did figure out a couple of the lies. This book is amazing and I highly recommend it!!!
The Arctic Circle Club are going to a Reindeer Farm to help the owner, Juniper, figure out what happened to her parents a year ago. A serial killer had killed 4 other people before her parents, a year apart from each on December 6th. There was always a 4-ft snowman at the scene with a body part from each victim incorporated into the snowman. Just before their arrival, another body is found....Juniper's best friend, Peppermint. Through a series of near misses & another employee injured then murdered in the hospital, they are trying to put the pieces together to make sense of what is happening! As usual, the plot twists are great. I highly recommend this Series!
I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. The True Crime folks return to solve another murder mystery. This one strikes each year on Dec 6th and builds a snowman to commemorate each one. Last year Juniper’s parents were killed leaving her to run the reindeer ranch, but now all kinds of strange things are happening and the crew must find answers before more people are killed. In addition to Andi is battling panic attacks from her last encounter with a madman and doesn’t want to tell Duke. A riveting story and depicts the struggles of several characters and their growth along with the plot twists and turns.
What a wild, thrilling Alaskan adventure. A double murder takes place on a reminder farm/camp a year prior courtesy of a serial killer who strikes on the same day for the past 6 years. The Arctic Circle Murder Club heads there to investigate and find the killer. While they are there, it is evident that someone is doing their best to sabotage the camp. This one was nonstop action with suspense, danger, and secrets with the truth that needed to be revealed. It also had twists and turns that I definitely didn't see coming.
The Arctic Circle Murder Club is on a deadline to find a serial killer. He, or she, has been killing someone once a year, on the same date, and leaving a gruesome scene. When the team gets asked to try to catch the killer before he/she strikes again, they head to a tourist destination, a reindeer camp where the mysteries and actions just do not stop. Bodies, missing persons, complicated family relationships, and a struggling business make for lots of twists and turns. My idea of whodunit" kept changing time after time. I always enjoy catching up with the True Crime Junkies!
What a great book! I couldn’t stop reading this. I read the entire book today. I love the characters in this book and how real they are. I also love how they work together and use each persons expertise to figure out who is guilty. The setting in Alaska is also so amazing to me as it describes the winter and cold so realistically. I’m certain it’s so beautiful up there and can imagine it from these books. Thank you for another great book!
By Christy Barritt. I’m always sad when the book draw to a close but especially this one. There was so much that needed to be discovered, but it happened too fast for me. Why are people so wicked and get such great satisfaction hurting others is beyond my comprehension. Read this as soon as you have Read the other 8. I may have to go back and read this series again. Enjoy.
I thoughtthe last book was the end of the Murder Club, but I'm glad I was wrong. I think this might be my favorite of the series. Loose ends were tied up, the December Dismemberer met his comeuppance, and Andi and Duke may finally confess their love for one another...but we'll need another book to find out if they get their happy ever after. If you're interested in this book, I highly recommend starting at the beginning; otherwise, you'll be confused.
Death again stalks the Arctic Circle gang. Called upon to resolve the Christmas time murders occurring yearly with horrendous gristliness, Duke, Andi, Ranger, Simmy, Mariella and Mathew courageously venture to a Reindeer Camp to track down clues. A serial killer once again has an innocent as the next target and the puzzle must be pieced together before more lives are lost.
I have read all the books in The True Crime Junkies series and each one seems to be better than the last, if that's possible. Christy has a wonderful talent for suspense, if you pick up one of her books it will pull you in, and keep you there!
I hope we will see our Alaska friends again!! Thanks Christy for this exciting series!!
There is evil and those bound by the horrors of their past, and the true crime junkies have made it their purpose to right the wrongs. They dig, investigate every lead, leaving nothing unturned and eventually they put the pieces together. I love how this one ended with the nativity, the One who came to show us the way to love one another and be a light in the darkness.
This is another amazing true crime junkies book with the mystery and suspense as well as danger the reader expects. The true crime team is out to try to prevent the December dismemberer killer from killing again. The daughter of the last two murder victims has requested their help. Will they be able to stop the murderer before he kills someone else or will they be his next victims?
Thus is a great, suspenseful story. The group try to discover who is behind all the murders. I love all the twists in the plot as the group keep finding more information out but no outstanding leads as to who is behind the murders. Once I started reading this, I couldn’t put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense throughout. I highly recommend this book.
So I have read all of Christy Barritt’s books, and love them all ! I fell in love with this series from the very first book, and this book was my favorite one of the series. The suspense and the excitement are so intense and of course I’ll have all the characters so much.
This series has the right amount of suspense and human compassion. Please don't end this series. I loved the characters and the romantic developments that emerged with each book It is refreshing to see Christian values lived out on the pages of a modern day mystery murder.
Christy Barritt does it again. This time, the gang winds up at a reindeer farm that was the scene of the last murder of the December Dismemberer. The daughter calls the Murder Club to investigate to try to keep another December Murder from happening. There are more twists and turns than there ate on a mountain road. Excellent book!!
Seriously, I have read so many books by Ms. Barritt that I’d think I’d figure things out by now. Nope! I find her books riveting and surprising and this book is no different! I love how her characters invite me into their lives as if I’m part of the action. One word of caution though. You might look at snowmen a little differently for a while!
Fast paced suspense with lots of twists and turns. Skillfully written to keep the reader guessing who the bad guy or girl or guys or girls really are. Another great read from Christy Barritt. Love this series. Please keep writing # 10, 11, 12, etc. Definitely worth the read.
Wow. I've been waiting for this last book of the True Crime Junkies series. It did not disappoint. It's set during December and at a reindeer farm in Alaska. The team uncovers many secrets during their hunt for the killer, and time is a big factor. The December Dismemberer takes something from the victims and decorates a snowman with it. Loose ends are wrapped up nicely as well.
Christy Barritt best writer. I've read all her books and buy them a head of printing. Never disappointed! This crime mysteries I must say I didn't guess who the killer was. That's how good Christy Barritt writing is! These are clean must read books ! Looking forward to the next one!
Fans of the series asked for more, and Christy Barritt delivered a spooky winter suspense! Best read with a hot drink, blanket, cozy corner and the lights on.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
I have enjoyed this series and read every book in it. I like the plot twist in Only One More Lie. I now wonder if we will ever know more about some of my favorite characters.
I am so glad I ordered this. It was an amazing read! Another great one by Christy. Full of mystery, intrigue, murder and lies. How a lie brings people together to solve a serial crime & bring people together.
Brilliant end to a brilliant series. Kept us guessing and the surprises kept coming... Even left an opening to return to the series of Christy wanted to! Thanks again for another good read.
