Vonnie Smith is trying hard to keep her spirits up, but with her family far away, her road home blocked for the forseeable future, and her Nan's small business on the brink of failure, it's easier said than done. Even reconnecting with her childhood "triplets" takes a sour turn when one of the boys breaks his leg in a freak accident—right in the middle of the shop!

With Vic and Val on her side, Vonnie is determined to prove that the little ice cream parlor can still turn a profit, but as blow after blow threatens her budding hopes, she can't help wondering where God is in all of the mess. Can she still find purpose when life seems to be crashing in around her? And can she manage to trust God and others when the answers are delayed?

About the author

Rebekah A. Morris has lived her entire life (as of now) in Missouri. Being home educated during her school years was great, except for writing. That was the worst subject (along with math) that she had to do. It wasn't until after she graduated that she discovered the joys and wonder of writing. Now she can't write enough. After spending six years in research and writing, she completed her first book, "Home Fires of the Great War," a 500+ page, historical fiction about home life in the United States and Canada during the First World War. Since then, she has been an avid writer and always has more than one story going on at once because only one story at a time got tiring and dull.

So much fun to listen to this story on audio! It was perfect for summer evenings.

It's out! Be prepared to want ice cream when you read it.

I thought this was a delightful story, with excellent themes and characters. The setting was fun and atmospheric—as cheerful and bright as the cover suggests. I don’t have much else to say other than that I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who wants a cozy contemporary read.

If you like small-town, faith-filled, cozy stories and characters that feel like friends, Nan’s Ice Cream Shop is just what you’re looking for! I felt instantly drawn toward the characters and invested in their fates, as well as the fate of the ice cream shop. There were enough surprises and twists to keep me hooked, but the pace was relaxed. The characters’ faith in Jesus held a prominent place within the book, and the conversations surrounding faith were handled with authenticity and believability. This was an enjoyable read—perfect for summer vacation or any time you want to relax with a fun, well-written, and wholesome story.

Well, now I want a triple scoop ice cream cone. What a fun story.
There were a few suspenseful moments for Vonnie, but she handled it really well.
Lots of sweet and enjoyable characters.

This book is so fun and refreshing! The atmosphere is cheerful and, with all of that ice cream, quite tasty too. It's such a good mood booster! And yet the story also has a very serious side to it. I love the way one verse is woven through the entire book. There is a lot of good encouragement on walking with Jesus! And the characters are just great. From sweet Nan to both humorous and caring Vic and Val to bubbly Aunt Shae to Vonnie, who always wants to do the right thing and help others, this story has such a good cast of characters. I definitely recommend this story!

Nan’s Ice Cream Shop is the first book I have read by Rebekah A. Morris. It is a sweet summertime story filled with trials, faith, and hope. I listened to the audiobook while cooking dinners, and it almost felt like I was right there behind the counter, scooping ice cream for customers. The story centers around saving Nan’s beloved, family-owned ice cream shop, and it’s packed with strong family ties, and a deep sense of community.

The Christian themes were very strong with Bible studies, prayer, church attendance, and Scripture. The overall Christian theme can be pointed to the scripture 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

The main character’s journey is one of perseverance, reconciliation, and trusting God through trial after trial. The slow-building romance between two sweet friends adds another layer of charm to the story.

This book is an inspiring reminder that God is faithful, even when life feels uncertain. A perfect read for anyone who enjoys wholesome fiction with a strong spiritual message.

This was such a beautiful story. The setting is bright and cheerful just like the cover portrays. This was a beautiful summer book. There was a few suspenseful moments for Vonnie and felt like you were among friends with funny and caring twins Vic and Val.

I hadn’t seen the snippets of this at Kings Daughters Writing Camp; the book is dedicated to all the girls at King Daughters Writing Camp who wanted more of Vonnie, Vic and Val, and of the ice-cream shop.

The story centres around saving Nan’s family - owned ice-cream shop. There is a deep sense of community. There was a lot of perseverance, reconciliation and frustrating God after trails.

This book has a good reminder that God is faithful even though the hard times when life is uncertain.

This was a super sweet gentle story. I loved the characters, and the plot while slow, made for a relaxing read. The lessons and Christian themes were also encouraging and exactly the reminders I needed.

I loved the twins they made the book a lot of fun. I loved Vic. He was so sweet.

There was so much yummy ice cream in this book. I had a hard time not going to get ice cream every time I read it.

I recommend for all who love solid Christian fiction, fitting for the whole family to enjoy.
