The Church in Many Houses: Reaching Your Community through Cell-Based Ministry

Rate this book
Although the largest churches in the world are cell-based, many have questioned whether the model will work in North America. The Church in Many Houses: Reaching Your Community Through Cell-Based Ministry makes the case that the ell model will work --- if key assumptions about spiritual growth and the nature of the church are re-examined and renewed. By drawing on scripture, research and insights gained through personal experience as the pastor of a growing cell church, Steve Cordle identifies five pivotal philosophical shits necessary for the cell approach to work. These are: * from programs to relationships * from member to disciple-maker * from educating to equipping * from "come and see" to "go and show" * from church with cells to church is cell Imposing a cell structure upon a congregation that has not yet made these philosophical shifts will likely lead to failure. But when people adopt these biblical mindset changes, the cell approach seems natural and will result in great unity and effectiveness.

Easy Read Great Stories of House Church Model

I enjoyed reading this as I will be planting a Church in Summerville SC and it is refreshing to see how church can get back to being people getting closer to Jesus and serving their neighbor together in small groups. A much appreciated book on an Acts based model of Spirit filled ministry.

Great book to start a cburch

This is great book to understand small groups, or even one avenue to start planting a church. Steve wrote it well and if you can be in person teaching this is even better.

Pastor Steve gives a great illustration of what cell-based looks like and details the nuances of it. It details the challenges and successes of a cell-based ministry versus a program - based minstry. If your looking to transitioning your church into a cell-based ministry this book is a good start for researching and prayerfully considering this shift in ministry pricipals. Love, grace, community, and discipleship are at the heart of this book.
