While the feel has changed a bit with Tim Stafford being the sole editor as opposed to the first volume with Derrick Brown also at the helm, this does have a great selection of contemporary and highly relate-able poetry that is classroom friendly in both diction, theme, and context. Stafford has a diverse set of contemporary writers contribute to the volume and the focus on personal narrative is here. The one major downside is only the first volume, there is no discussion and writing exercise companion: this is just an anthology. However, this also is a good anthology for those interested in contemporary and slam style poetry just to peruse.
