Some questions should remain unanswered...

After receiving a clue regarding her parents’ potential demise, royal detective Redwyn Deathan finds herself traveling to Halthdurn, a land marred by war and pain. Desperate for answers, Red finds herself not only entering Halthdurn’s most secretive forest, but also one that contains some unpleasant surprises—two of which being the irritating, grumpy archer Lycus Allaidh and the ongoing evil Red has long fought to extinguish. She doesn’t anticipate an accident forcing her to accept Lycus’ help, just as she doesn’t expect her search to uncover the sinister intentions someone wants to keep hidden.

Lycus Allaidh longs for peace and quiet after the most recent war. He never imagined he’d again see the cantankerous redhaired detective, much less find her injured, unconscious, and in dire need of assistance. Red’s determination both irritates and draws him, and he soon finds himself offering to help her in her endeavor. What was meant as an act of both pity and goodwill soon turns into Lycus having to protect Red from an unseen enemy.

Deadly intentions lurk in the shadows as danger grows, turning Red’s quest into not only a search for her parents, but now a hunt for the truth as old evils are unveiled and a new malevolence is unearthed. Red and Lycus find themselves in the fight for their lives—and the growing feelings between them—as the hunters become the hunted…because someone will do anything to stop them.

The final novel in The Redwyn Chronicles, WOLF is a Christian fantasy Little Red Riding Hood retelling with the tropes forced proximity, enemies to more, and protective hero. The series should be read in order.

8/30: WOLF is now available! This was a doozy of a story with so many emotions for our poor characters.

WOLF is the fourth and final novel in The Redwyn Chronicles, and is a New Adult Christian Fantasy fairy tale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. The main books in TRC must be read in order

5+ stars (6/10 hearts). Oh my soul, I knew this last book would be bittersweet but I did not expect to love it like this—because I never expected it to be this.

Dear, dear Red—so broken, so unexpectedly beautiful. And Lycus, one of my favourite male characters of the series for his very unassumingness. He's not crazy funny or strong or broken or sweet—just deep, faithful, and present. <3

I loved seeing the chaos of Ruid's family; I loved the characters, from sweet Orla to eccentric old Enid; I loved the Halthdurn setting; I loved the trademark Carlin humour; I loved the darling wolves; but most of all I loved the quieter story, still suspenseful, but stained with grief and questioning.

Final questions are answered; storylines are finished; and in the end, I loved seeing everyone together again. It's the perfect way to say goodbye, and I cannot wait to reread this whole series. <3

I finished this in 48 hours! Like never even got around to putting it on my currently reading shelf! It's so good! What a beautiful ending for the main books in The Redwyn Chronicles!

Characters:
Red is so spunky and sarcastic but also deep down afraid...and I love her! Covering up her fears with pricklyness. Dear girl...
Lycus is the sweetest, and I loved him! His steady determination, even as he battled his own demons, was so enduring!
Aodh and Chike were adorable! Who doesn't love wolves as pets, right?
It was amazing to see so many characters I loved again, even if some of them just made passing appearances near the end!

Themes:
Closure, belonging, and what it means to find home...it was beautiful! And hit me in the feels as someone who has been on that journey of finding family and home!🩵

Language:
N/A

Romance:
A cute enemies to lovers...though more like rivals to lovers. whatever the case, it was adorable and clean!

Magic:
N/A

VIolence/Gore:
There are chases, injuries, broken limbs, near death experiences, deaths, betrayal, etc...mentions of blood, but always handled well and not over described.
Human trafficking is mentioned and talked about in this book as well as the rest of the series.

Overall:
I loved this conclusion to the main part of the series! it was epic and fantastic! sprinkled with so much humor and also heartfelt moments!

Redwyn is humbled in the best way....
Redwyn, the titular detective of the series, has always been a favorite character. Her sassy attitude, her bravery, and ultimately, her perseverance, have been admirable from the start. Of course, her sass also came with a lot of faults: pride, prejudice, and the inability to recognize when sarcasm goes too far. In this book, she comes face to face with those faults when she is attacked by an unknown assailant and severely injured. Forced to take kindness from a man and his family that she once resented, she slowly comes to realize how much she relied on herself, hid her true self, and how broken she really is. Ultimately, the plot of this story is a slow one, more psychological and relational than action based (though that certainly happens). And I enjoyed every minute of it, even crying a few times as I realized how often I, too, rely on my own strength instead of on others. A long hidden question is finally answered in this book, and I discovered there are more tales to be told about other side characters. As for the romance, it is more sweet than spicy, which is just how I like it. And, of course, the faith of the characters shines through. Overall, a wonderful Christian Fantasy book.
Content Warnings: PG level violence, one-two non descriptive kisses. No cussing. Child/Sex Trafficking mentioned but not described.

This book was soooo worth the wait!!!! I loved it so much!!! The faith content was strong and something everyone can take to heart. A strong message about grief that made me want to cry so many times, but at the same time, it was uplifting. I am so happy Red finally got her story, there were so many times where I just wanted to give her a hug. And Lycus!!!! I’ve been needing a book about him ever since he popped up in Iron! All in all, an amazing book! So sweet and with such great characters! The ending was the sweetest thing I’ve read all year! Highly recommend!!!!

I read through this whole series (except the prequel the novella) in almost exactly one month and this alone should be enough to tell you how much I loved it!

I was not prepared for how hard this would pull at my heartstrings… I’m not an easy crier, but this book brought me to tears several times (might be different for everyone, we all have different triggers) and I loved how delicately grief was handled.

We knew Red and Lycus from the previous books and I was so excited for them to get their own love story.
It’s a rival-to-lovers story and it’s so funny to see how reluctant Red is. She doesn’t want to admit it, but she needed a sweet ending the most. I really loved these two together - the banter and snark, but especially the sweet and tender moments between them.

I found this ending to be pretty much perfect. Wolf has the same strong faith content as the prequels, wonderful characters and animal companions (oh I loved the wolf pups!!), the typical Carlin sarcasm and a lot of healing moments through finding a family, finding a home.

Loved it!! Can’t wait for the physical copies to get matching covers so I can buy them all, put them on my shelf and then wait impatiently until my daughter is old enough so I can read them with her!

Beautiful! I could totally relate to Red, and so I loved the portions
where others who love her, explain her worth!
Of course, I loved the love story,
how they start off annoyed with and annoying each other....
Yup, it's gotta be love.
The only thing I wished there was more of would be scripture.
Still, it was a lovely series.

Madisyn Carlin's WOLF was spectacular!!!!!!!! I loved getting to see some of my favorite characters again and experiencing the finale to Red's journey.

Lycus and Red are SO CUTE as a couple. They complement each other so well!!!!!!!! It was sweet watching them working together to heal from the scars in their pasts.

I loved the scenes with the wolfies (especially with the baby wolfies). I want a pet wolf!!!!!!!!

The cranberries... *cackles* ... BEAUTIFUL. PERFECTION. SO WELL DONE. Speaking of which, when do stores restock on cranberries? Cranberries sound so good right now. (I can feel Lycus judging me right now.)

Anyway... this book was such a fun ride. I laughed a lot, and I was so happy to be able to go on this journey with these sweet characters!

I received an advance copy of this book. My opinions are my own. A positive review was not required.
