Ty Draker has never been one to back down from a fight, but going undercover in a brutal, no-holds-barred fighting tournament—his best lead in the hunt for a home-grown terrorist planning another attack—is something he hadn’t expected. Assuming a new identity, he must adapt quickly to survive.

Meanwhile, the fallout from the deadly encounter in Ventura, California, still haunts him, and the shadowy forces tailing him are as relentless as ever, with answers slipping further out of reach. Together with his handler, Beau, Draker is chasing down a lead on one of the people involved with those forces.

Now, caught between ruthless opponents in and out of the ring and his search for a terrorist, Draker must rely on his wits and instincts. The clock is ticking, and every step could bring him closer to the truth—or closer to his own downfall.

If you like action heroes with the steely resolve of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, the calculating will of Gregg Hurwitz’s Orphan X, and the raw power of Mark Greaney’s Gray Man, then you’ll love Ty Draker, a new thriller series by Erik Carter, bestselling author of the Silence Jones Series.

Soldier who followed orders wants to set things right - 4 stars

"Raw Deal" is an imaginative story in which you are expected to accept many unusual conditions including a rogue defense contractor, a false marriage, considerable surveillance, and long held grudges. The easiest thing to give credibility might just be an illegal martial arts competition. This violent story moves quickly and includes concerns about society's values.

Ty Draker mustered out of the Army 15 years ago. Ty has feelings of guilt after murdering a man during his tour of service. He completed college, got a job as a policeman, and tried to forget his final military mission. His last orders in Afghanistan were issued by a corrupt contractor. That contractor has been actively keeping Ty under surveillance. Ty thought that he was married but his wife was only following orders from the contractor. It was a wholly artificial marriage.

After realizing that he had been duped into marriage, Ty escaped and accepted assignments from a trusted person he never met face to face. Ty started accepting assignments to rid the world of bad people with extreme prejudice. We meet Ty as he is assigned to work with a female FBI agent who believes that a psychopath is about to commit a mass murder.

Ty was asked to participate in an mixed martial arts event. No weapons are allowed, just physical brutality and luck. The participants were trying to win a modest monetary prize as the outcome of one-on-one battles determined the top three fighters.

Ty is given a little training for fighting and tries to figure out who is trying to complete a mass killing. The psychopathic person who is planning an explosion believes that people are following false and trivial goals. The backstory includes FBI agency infighting, a corporation trying to cover up its past, and a psychopath. Information is given sparingly. When the fight tournament is about to finish, more information adds to the complexity.

The potential number of victims is much higher than originally expected. Ty and his FBI partner have to do whatever it takes to stop a madman from exploding things and people. Ty's good nature and athleticism are put to extreme limits as the countdown proceeds. The fight scenes are not for anyone with a squeamish stomach. I give high credits for excitement which keeps an incredible story alive.

Action packed with a layered plot
Ty Draker is still reeling from his life that has flipped a180 on him. He has plenty of weight on his shoulders from his past baggage that is still following him. Life as he knew it was never real. Both our hero and the evil guy have a bit of rage boiling just underneath. They are just going about dealing with it in different ways. As Draker is learning to feel his way around in his new life, righting wrongs and digging into his past, he finds himself on another mission by his new handler. He is discovering more about who he really is inside and he has to come to terms with what was, and what will be.
A great read that flows well, lots of action and suspense, a good vs evil plot, and about giving others a helping hand. Well done and a recommended read. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

Ty Draker is sent on another mysterious case by his equally mysterious handler – Beau. He is tasked to assist an FBI agent, Jenna Sullivan, investigating bombings by a terrorist nicknamed the Watchdog. Jenna has identified an annual brutal fight meeting known as the Pit in Louisville, as the likely target of another attack, and Ty becomes an undercover participant in this brutal annual event.
There are plenty of twists and turns in this story, with Ty having to battle his way through ferocious training sessions with an old bruiser nominated by Beau, but also in the Octagon the staging venue in an old industrial complex. where the fights to submission or inability to continue were held. All the while Draker is controlled by Beau who is searching out the connections to his previous life, when he was, he thought, happily married.
Plenty of action and easy to read. Well worth the time.

This is the second in the new series and I'm really enjoying it. Ty Draker is a likeable character and there's plenty of mystery in his background to keep me intrigued.

This time the mysterious Beau sends him undercover as a fighter in an underground fight club with links to an investigation an FBI agent is conducting. As ever, there's lots of action while Draker gets used to the level of fighting needed while at the same time trying to get a grasp on the shady organisation who is trying to kill him. The mysterious Beau adds further to the intrigue especially with his exceptional skills at gaining access to information. The story flowed well and I found it quick to read. Looking forward to seeing where Beau sends him next.

Full of action and quite brutal as Ty is sent on his new mission which takes him into the world of underground fighting as his cover. He teams up with an FBI agent thru Beau. Beau still remains a mystery as to he is and ascertains his knowledge. The fight is on to discover and stop a delusional bomber. What will be his next target? As Draker and Sullivan delve deeper into the investigation, they discover shocking information that totally changes the dynamics of the mission. This second installment on the Ty Draker series will not disappoint. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.

I am enjoying the new Ty Draker series. This is the second episode, and it is as full of action as the first.
This time his handler Beau sends him on a mission and he hooks up with an FBI agent on the same mission it starts in an underground fight club, I'm not really into these fight clubs but they exist (I don't understand why 2 people would want to knock themselves silly in the name of sport)
Ty Draker is a likeable chap but still carries the world on his shoulders. He seems unable to get over his 5-year marriage to Alyssa real name Cassandra the bugbear of his life now.
Good action throughout so at the moment it's neck & neck with Silence Jones which does take some beating

There is plenty of action to keep the adrenaline pumping, and lots of intrigue about who is involved and how. The character of Ty Darker is multi-dimensional and well developed. The ending is tied up enough to feel like the book is complete, while leaving a few threads to lead into the next book in the series. That can be a tricky line, bt the author handles it well. Also, there is some review of prior events in the series, but I would still recommend starting at the beginning and reading them all the way through. Looking forward to the next.

I did received and ARC at no cost to me, but this is my honest opinion.

This is the second book in the new series. Ty Draker is the main character and he’s fantastic! He’s doing “mission” to help people so his overseer can help him find out who is hunting him. This book he had to go undercover as an elite fighter. This book was full of action and drama and a little romance thrown in. It was an exciting and hard to put down book! I highly recommend this book and this series.

Enjoyed the new character and hope for more of Draker. Beau remains a mystery which adds to the intrigue of how he manages to provide the information so quickly

Ty learns to fight

Ty is charged with trying to find a bomber who has a hate for the world. In his quest for the target, he has to fight in an underground tournament, perhaps to the death. He works along side a female FBI agent that helps him save the day. ENJOY!
