Helps to deal with loss

Oof, a really heavy book. When you lose your brother, at first, the pain is immediate, you cry, you get angry, and you will start asking a lot of of what if.

Over the years, it gets better, but the wound kind of just lingers. When my kid has an amazing day on the mound, all I wanna do is call my brother.

But at some point, we have to deal with the reality, that death is a part of life, and something we all have to deal with. This book is great for that.

First the author tells her story of grief and how she initially coped. Breaks down the 5 stages of loss, and why they don’t really fit with someone who has lost someone, but rather how we deal with our own mortality.

So what to do, the author delves into self care strategies: rest and recharge, honor your pain, find joy.

Also, who all is effected, how to focus on your mental health, what are your support systems, etc.

This book is a really good start for anyone dealing with loss.

Also, not long, can be read on a short plane ride.

This book.. I bought from Amazon already and I got a lot out of it.. more than I expected.
Like the author says there are scarce resources for adults who lose their siblings. I just lost my younger sister (in July).. saying JUST LOST says it all.. after re reading C.S Lewis and this book I feel like my feelings of anxiety and other issues were confirmed to me.. that I am not just falling apart. I need this time off to grieve. My procrastination and feeling of fear or other issues are well within the range of normal. I worked in medicine and I was surprised that I reacted so hard. I went into a sort memory shock for two to three days during the funeral and afterwards which happens. I am a Christian.. this is not about my faith, my body just reacted out of sheer fight or flight.. Lord be with you if you are going through this. And I noticed like C.S Lewis said: the Lord is very quiet right now..

Powerful Book

Being a surviving sibling, I have been very touched by this book. I suffered all of the situations after losing my sister to cancer. There is no describing the pain you feel to lose your sibling at a young age. This book will surely help many people.
