Cruise the highways and byways of the American nightmare...
Supernatural, the hit show from the CW, continued to attract a dedicated and growing fan following as well as critical praise for its compelling mix of horror, thrills, and family drama as it upped the ante in the second adrenaline-pumping season.
Sam and Dean Winchester continue their dark odyssey across American in their 1967 Chevy Impala. Having tracked down their father, a confrontation with the Yellow-Eyed Demon went horribly wrong, and the brothers are now on a mission to find the demon responsible for the deaths of both their parents and reveal the secret behind Sam's mysterious powers. Along the way, they encounter creatures most people believe exist only in folklore and nightmares, including werewolves, ghosts, djinn, hellhounds, and even murderous clowns!
This official companion is packed with exclusive interviews, photos, behind-the-scenes secrets, the low-down on the show's new supernatural entities, and a complete second season episode guide.
These companion books are really something that every Supernatural fan should read. To have these pieces of information really hits the spot. It has a lot more details in it for each episode. Really great read.
I found that this one was actually more informative than the first season's companion guide. Again, having followed the show for years upon years of my life, some of the information I had become aware of. The little tid bits that I caught are things I'm going to look for next time I watch the episodes.
I love these companion books so much. You don't realize how much work is put into the show and episodes until you read this. I mean you get Jensen and Jared who have mentioned what it's like to work on the show, but you don't hear what it's like for the beind the scenes people. The writers, directors, composers, prop guys, costumer designers, set designers. etc.
I think these Companions are the best and most informative ones I have ever read about TV or Movies before. I never realized just how much work is put into every episode. Just the other day I re-watched an episode from Season One, and it was the first time I really heard the score music. It was perfectly set.. and maybe it's the aspiring writer in me, but I never focused so much on what was going on in the background when watching the show. I focused on the story and Jensen and Jared's portrayal of Dean and Sam more. Re-watching now, I start to see that these little things that I never noticed are actually incredibly important to the episodes and obviously they do a spectacular job at not making it into too much so that it takes off the focus of the characters. It's done real well.
I loved the first three seasons of Supernatural the most, so getting to know little secrets and interesting facts about the episodes and the actors/crew makes these Companions the most perfect books for any and every fan of this show.
Once again anything about Supernatural and the 2J's is wonderful by me. Great book containing all episodes of Season 2 - love this programme and the guys.

Ah, Season 2. By far the best season of Supernatural, at least in my humble opinion. This is the season where Sam’s dark secret begins bubbling up to the surface, Dean faces death and meets a Reaper, my fear of clowns only escalates, Amber Benson, Tricia Helfer, Aldis Hodge and Linda Blair guest star, the subject of angels is approached for the first time giving clues into the Winchester’s futures, the boys go to prison, and the yellow-eyed demon makes a return for a phenomenal season finale which will leave you in tears. Plus werewolves, zombies, djinn, Jo and Ellen Harvelle, and the Trickster all make their first appearances. A brilliant season overall and will probably will always be my favorite.
Nicholas Knight continues to explore CW’s hit horror-action television series in Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 2. Featuring episode reviews, character profiles, and cast and crew interviews, Knight does a good job at giving the reader a comprehensive overview of the show. And the scriptwriters are surprisingly honest in their discussions of what worked and what didn’t, and why. Also, Closer Look segments are included that provide a deeper look into some of the monsters-of-the-week and the lore that surrounds them. Additionally, the book is filled with production photos and screenshots, as well as a supplemental colored photo gallery. Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 2 is a well-crafted and engaging guide that’s sure to heighten one’s appreciation for all that goes into making this extraordinary show.
I love that book actually on same way like I loved the first one! We know about Jensen and Jared POV about the show from so many interviews, but now reading this book I learn a lot of new things about the show, I start to knew the team, and they became more than names running at the beginning or the end of the episode. I start to pay more attention to THE music, not the songs the music written especially for each episode. The only thing which I feel sorry is that took me too long to read it. But that is because I was overloaded from work and my own things... Can't wait for the 3rd one and John Winchester Journal.
Overall, it felt like it just scraped the surface. Maybe if they cut the ep summaries to bare minimum and moved the quotes to the margins, they could squeeze much more in. Every ep commentary has the same structure - writer, director, sometimes actor, hair, makeup, props, music - so it feels a bit superficial, like it's jumping from one place to another without paying attention to anything properly. But it's still an interesting read and a good addition to every SPN fan's collection.
With tons of inside views, inside information and descriptions of every episode, and lots of shiny pictures!
A MUST for every Supernatural fan. This show is so very very pretty, and OMFG are we really in season 9???? I'm just so happy for everyone involved that SPN has been such a success! Who'd have thought back in season 1, when it started as a badly written B-movie wannabe somewhere in the Canadian woods?
This was an interesting book to read. I am a pretty big fan of the show and reading this book was a good way to take a look back at season 2 and find out all of the details about it. Parts of it were kind of boring. I didn't really care so much about some of the technical aspects of the show, like the makeup and lighting. It was cool how they had little sections about various supernatural creatures in the book.
The second official companion is much like the first: full of background information about the show, cast and crew. There's another section of glossy promo photos and pictures of the sets. There's character bios, with some thoughts from the actors. I especially liked to read Jeffrey Dean Morgan's thoughts on John Winchester.
A good summary of all of the episodes of season 2 along with behind the scenes information and lots of pictures. This is a fun book to have, but I'm not sure it is worth the $125.00-$140.00 currently being charged by sellers on Amazon.com. Try to pick up a copy on eBay or in a used bookstore instead, and keep requesting it as an eBook--maybe publishers will eventually comply.
This is a great book for fans of the television show "Supernatural" or for people interested in getting a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes happenings on a weekly production.
Fun factoids and revealing interviews make the book read like a special features section of a loaded DVD.
If you're a fan of the tv show Supernatural, these books are a great companion to the series. There's lots of background information on the individual episodes, as well as interviews with the cast and production crew. Lots of photos, too. Can't wait for the Season 3 companion!
Whoever told Nicholas Knight to do this needs a raise! This is a brilliant idea and I love that these exist. I enjoy the little factoids that are included, the song information, the summary and the fun annecdotes about the actors and the behind the scenes glimpses. A great companion to the series.
