Two Renegade Realms by Donita K. Paul is the second book in the Realm Walkers series. This second book was a better written and more enjoyable story than the first one. It wasn't as kiddish to me. I hated how it ended, though! I'm going to have to wait how long for the third book?! lol Joking aside, it did end pretty decently. It tied up everything from the story and only kept us hanging just enough to want the next one in the series. ;-)
It's been two years since the last book, and Cantor has been off on adventures ever since. With no success at finding Ahma and Odem, he feels inadequate and insecure in his realm walker role. Then he is sent on a mission to find Bixby and Dukmee. Once he locates them, he finds it slow going to save the world from the Lymen Invasion when multiple distractions and missions keep coming up. Will they be able to figure out the mysteries surrounding the invasion? And what about Ahma and Odem? Where have they been for the last three years?
Cantor is my favorite character in the book. There is more to him than meets the eye, and I can't wait to hear more about him in the next book. Cantor keeps trying to fight his attraction to Bixby because he fears it will distract him from the Lymen invasion. But poor Bixby is the one who gets hurt in the process. Bridger, the dragon, is as funny and silly as ever, but I do wish Cantor would accept him already! They've been together for three years! Isn't it time for the temper tantrum to be over now... lol Dukmee still irritates me because his brilliance makes him come off as arrogant and aloof.
Chomountain is an interesting addition to the story. He's a much more likable character compared to Dukmee, but I am confused by him. I think he's supposed to be kind of like an Elijah in the story, but I'm not sure. It wasn't explained well at all. Cantor, Bridger, and Bixby continue to be my favorite characters, and I can't wait to see how their story will come together in the end. Overall, it's a fun, enjoyable read. :-)
I was given this book free from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.

This one was better then the first one.

This book was very nearly a dnf for me. Personally I felt little attachment to the characters (the human ones at least) and the plot was kind of predictable. The world-building had potential but it didn't feel like it was fully realized in this book, though I'd hoped it would be. I liked Bixby in the first book, but I found her constant obsession with clothing grating after a while. I think a character can be feminine and like girly things, but in this case it felt like crowns and dresses and shiny things were 90% of Bixby's personality. In fact, the only other female main character, a dragon, is OBSESSED with her looks, too. Considering that there were only two female characters in the book, I would have loved to see more facets of their abilities and personalities highlighted.
Another thing that bothered me was the weird focus on the extreme height difference between Cantor and Bixby. So I guess I lied when I said dresses and frippery are Bixby's entire personality; we can't forget that she is the size of an average 4th grader. The reason we don't forget this is because it's mentioned in every. Single. Chapter. Or at least it felt like it was. I don't even think we get any physical description of Cantor besides the fact that he's 6'9" or something like that. It made it hard to picture his character-- i just imagined a faceless giant. Cantor is kind of a jerk, too. I read a few reviews for One Realm Beyond that expressed a dislike of cantor, the MC, and although I didn't really agree at first, I feel now that he's not a particularly likeable character, he just has enough redeeming moments to keep the reader from wanting to punch him.
Overall the rather slow pace, unlikeable characters, and confusing world building made this a difficult book to get through. I liked the writing style enough and the dragon characters were fun, but, unfortunately, that wasn't enough to make this an enjoyable read for me personally.

One last thing that bothered me right from the start: the entire driving force behind the plot is imminent invasion by aliens who travel by--brace yourself--fruit. Like a gourd or seed pod or something, with interdimensional capabilities. They're supposed to be ruthless, marauding raiders coming to wage war on another planet and eat the hapless humans who inhabit it, but... the space-ship vegetables felt less than threatening. It brought to mind more of an evil oompa-loompa vibe than interdimensional galactic space invaders. Oh, and to further kill the vibe, they're giant carnivorous plant creatures. The whole thing brought to mind more of a 60s B horror film than a Sci-fi/high fantasy adventure, which isn't exactly what I'm looking for in my reading, but hey, at least I found a cool band name. Be on the lookout for my new garage rock band, Space Gourds, touring in your area!

2.5 stars, rounded up because I love the Dragon Keeper series. This review is also available on my blog, Read Till Dawn.
As a long-time fan of Donita K. Paul's Dragon Keeper books, I've been itching to get my hands on this series for years. When I saw the second book available through BookLook Bloggers I knew I had to grab it, the fact that it was an ebook notwithstanding. While reading it, I was completely engrossed. I found myself drifting away from my school work, reading "just one more page" in the middle of doing what I was supposed to be doing. I thought I would give it a high rating, maybe 3.5 or 4. It wasn't quite as good as the Dragon Keeper books, but I was definitely loving it!
Then, somehow the ending just kind of . . . dropped me. Really, I was starting to get antsy by the last third of the book. Because the first third sets the book up for amazing things: old friends reunited, a spark of suppressed romance between two main characters, impending doom and the right hand of Primen. There was some serious potential there, and even though they spent a lot of time wandering around in ruins in the middle of a mountain, I enjoyed myself. The second third involves the loss of two characters, one minor (a mining slave) and one I'd thought wasn't so minor (Neekoh had better be important in the third book, because otherwise he serves abolutely no purpose that a bit of magic couldn't have performed). It sees the beginning of travel, the addition of a bunch of dragons with names that all sort of blur together, and this random guy who keeps popping up, asking Bixbee to marry him, and then disappearing again. I was sure there would be some sort of great purpose for his presenncem and kind of disappointed about where he wound up fitting into the plot. He'd better have a pretty important role in the third book (along with Neekoh), otherwise he's a pretty big waste of time.
Over all, this is a good book from a great author. The world-building is amazing as always (Paul is a world-building pro at this point!), but while I did love the characters I felt like by the final third of the book there were too many mixed in there, pulling the focus away from the characters and plot-lines that really mattered. I am definitely looking forward to the third book, though, and I think that will be the one to make-or-break the series. If the third book pulls everything together perfectly, then One Realm Beyond is a great introduction to a lot of the threads that will be needed for a masterful ending. If the third book is disjointed, overwhelming, and disorganized, then this book will have been the book that set up for that. Basically, it's a stepping stone for the story arch. Whether that step leads upward or downward is still up in the air.

Two Renegade Realms (Realm Walkers #2) by Donita K. Paul Two Renegade Realms takes place two years after One Realm Beyond. Cantor, Bixby, and Dukmee are on a quest to find the legendary, Chomountain, and save the realm from an impending attack.
I enjoyed how the characters developed both mentally and physically since the previous book; especially Cantor who seemed to have undergone the most changes. I still appreciate his relationship between him and his dragon Bridger. They have an amusing connection that keeps growing and retains the reader interest. Bridger is such a goof you cannot help but love him.
There was a stretch I felt dragged a little but overall the plot was carefully thought out and original. Towards the end of the novel, it had a more science fiction feel.
Donita K. Paul is an exceptional writer. She has a talent for visualization, symbolism, and creativity.
Two Renegade Realms is a fun book for a young adult or adult. It in an imaginative read with Christian values and beliefs. This is a book that I would encourage my eleven-year-old son and his friends to read. I also think the series would make great movies.

I LOVE these books! Such great stories filled with adventure, hilarity, good fellowship, food, and faith. I would definitely recommend to all my fantasy-lover friends!
The gist of the plot: Word of a coming invasion from two renegade planes reaches our crew of heroes, and they hurry to prepare for the impending assault. This includes gathering two stones and a globe, which essentially act as a key to the realm of the Universe. But first on their agenda is to rescue the famed Chomountain, the right hand of Primen--essentially a Prophet. During all of this, they must deal with the corrupt members of the Realm Walkers Guild, who seek to take over rule of the realms, outlaw the true realm walkers loyal to Primen, and replace them with their phonies...

The cover? Rocks. It depicts the story much better than book one did. I think that is the only improvement between the two books. SO many things were going on all at once and none of them got the proper space to flesh out. The big focus should have been the Lymen Invasion (aka saving the world), and while we did mosey our way there, the whole thing was easily wrapped up in a few pages. It was like a slow, unsteady lead up to a climax that you could miss in a blink.
Cantor was less enjoyable in this story. It felt like Paul may have been aiming for a Harry Potter book five vibe, but Cantor came across as much more obnoxious and obtuse. He is just sullen and always ready for a battle. I feel like he doesn't even do much during the novel but complain about how much time the group is wasting and wanting to hunt down bad guys.
If you a fan of action/fantasy easy middle grade reads, this is your pick. And it still has talking dragons!! I'm walking away with just 2 stars.

Donita K. Paul writes her own flavor of fantasy. Her stories are captivating, fun, and heartwarming. Her characters are rich with quirkiness. The world in this particular series is fresh and innovative, a place I'd really like to visit.
Two Renegade Realms is set about 2 years after the fist novel in the series (One Realm Beyond). We get to spend more time with our favorite characters - Cantor, Bridger, Duckmee, Bixby, and Totobee-Rodolow - along with meeting a couple of new additions to the crew as they puzzle out how to save the realms from an alien attack and defeat the corrupt Realm Walkers Guild.
Appropriate for all audiences. Recommended for those ready for a fun read.

Summary:
Cantor, Bixby, Dukmee, and Bridger are back for another adventure! On their way to discover more about a coming Lymen invasion, they come across a man who has no idea that he is Chomountain, the right hand of Primen. They must first remind him who he is before they continue on their quest. But little do they know that the Lymen invasion just might be sooner than they expected!
My personal review~
This book was very good! However, I must say it wasn't as good as the first. The first half was a tad bit slow and at that part of the book I planned on giving it four stars. However, the end made up for it nicely and I didn't have a second thought about making it five stars! Bixby was her amazing self, but I must say that Cantor has changed in this book (both physically and emotionally!) I really missed the short, young, carefree Cantor and this tall, grown-up, serious Cantor made me pity Bixby. Another thing I didn't like was that there were only a few scenes from Cantor's POV when in the last book, the majority were his POV. But that's not a huge deal.
Negative Content~
Near the end, there is a Lymen invasion and I won't spoil the book by going into details, but there is the mention of blood, chopping off limbs, and eating children, but that's all very minor things and are not very detailed.
Sexual Content~
Very little, like the last book.
Bixby is starting to like Cantor and Cantor Bixby, but to protect them both, Cantor tries to be a bit distant from her.
There are two kisses, but they are on the cheeks and forehead only.
My personal rating~
Five Stars!

Just because the minimum age is so low does not mean older teens or adults will not like this book.

I am a big fan of Donita K. Paul's work. This book is no exception. It is the tale of a few close knit friends on a great adventure to save the world (what else). Along the way, they meet a few new friends and allies, as well as their fair share of obstacles. This book is a good read for older elementary school students. The vocabulary is fairly simple, but the complexity of the storyline might be difficult for 3rd graders of younger to follow. I think some good activities for this book would include order of events exercises, retellings, and summarizing.

It's been a minute since I read the first book in this series, but I found myself remembering the characters and events of the previous story well enough to follow along with this one.
Cantor is probably my favorite character, although he does get on my nerves sometimes with his unfairly harsh behavior towards Bridger. The characters are entertaining and different from each other, but I often found their emotions impotent. They didn't make me feel anything.
I am interested enough in the storyline to read the next book, but I don't think this series will become a new favorite.

This book started off a little slow, but was really interesting by the end. It could have used a section on what happened in the first book, or read book 1 before reading this just to get the story in your head... But well worth a read...

I need book three!
August 29, 2018
Summary:
Two years have passed since the attack by the corrupt Realm Walkers Guild - years Cantor, Bixby, and Dukmee have spent searching for secrets that could save their realm from a deadly invasion. Just when they seem close to success, however, a new surprise knocks them off track: the famed Chomountain may indeed be alive. And it appears their group has been chosen to rescue him from his years of imprisonment.
But when they arrive int he valley where Chomountain supposedly has been kept, they are met by a man whose only passion is fishing. Desperate and running out of time before the invasion begins, the three friends, along with Cantor's dragon constant, Bridger, must find a way to escape the growing perils in the valley while also uncovering the answers they urgently need.
Positive Elements:
Bixby is determined to be the best she can for Primen; Bridger will let nothing stop him in his search for his sister; Bixby and Cantor use self-control when dealing with difficult individuals; Cantor grows more accepting of Bridger; faith and trust in Primen is encouraged.
Cons:
Cantor, at times, is demeaning to Bridger.
Violence:
A guard is beaten and left for dead; a woman is drugged; a secondary character gets cut with a knife; mor dragons are kidnapped and drugged; some mor dragons obtain injuries while fighting a beast; a man gets walloped on the head with a bottle of bath oil; invaders are mentioned destroying all in their paths and eating human babies (nothing graphic).
Spiritual Content:
Primen is the equivalent of God; Bixby and Cantor pray to Primen; Chomountain is described as the right hand of Primen who advocates and is an intercessor between Primen and the people.
Other:
Cantor kisses Bixby, as does Dukmee.
Rating:
5 Stars
Conclusion:
Once again, Donika K. Paul masterfully weaves an epic tale that will keep you (quite literally) on the edge of your seat. Her imperfect characters are relatable and fun, and I couldn't help but love Bridger. If you are looking for a story to sweep you into a world of adventure, treachery, danger, and friendship, Two Renegade Realms is the book for you.

I was not a fan of the 3 year time jump, particularly with the way the first book ended. A lot of ... nothing happens in this book. There are huge jumps in time and we're just told - oh, they did this. Also, the big battle at the end was completely underwhelming because we spent like a hundred pages in the valley doing essentially nothing and then jumped weeks to where all the random (at odds) groups have gathered to fight off the invasion. And the actual battle is like 10 pages (that is a slight exaggeration, but it's so little of the book that's what it felt like). And you would think with all this time with the characters we'd actually get to know them better, but because of the missing 3 years, during which the characters were not all together, I actually felt like I knew them less by the end of the book. Also, while this sort of ends, absolutely nothing is resolved and there are no more books. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised that the first two books didn't do well enough to warrant more in the series. There is a lot of potential in the world, but nothing is developed well, the magic is not explained in any real way, the characters feel very flat, particularly in this book, and we get no resolution or forward movement from all the events of the first book. This is a brand new adventure with occasional references to, oh yeah, the council is still evil and wants to control everything, but we can't worry about that because evil plant people are about to attack. What?! So disappointed.

Since I was already familiar with our cast of characters, it was easier for me to jump into this one without comparing it to the DragonKeeper Chronicles like I did with the first book. I loved seeing the shifting, growing relationships between everyone on the pages, and how their strengthening bonds enabled them to overcome immense challenges. And as always, Mrs. Paul is a great author to pick up if you want a well-crafted fantasy story that won't come with content warnings and disclaimers. She writes books that are safe for the kids yet still enjoyable for the parents.
The biggest thing that saddens me about this, though, is that it seems there was a kerfuffle involved with the publishing (or lack thereof) of the third book in the series, so despite the last chapter ending on a cliffhanger, I may never get to know how the adventures of our intrepid realm walkers end. And that makes me go a little pouty, but hey, I guess that means that if it ever DOES get published, I'll just have to re-read the first two books for a refresher of what happened. And that's gonna be my little silver lining for this particular storm cloud. Both of these books were delightful.

This one was just a bit more difficult to understand (all the things with the planes, the orb, and such), but that did not in any way diminish from how enjoyable the story was. Of course there was a bit of a cliffhanger, so I'm on tenterhooks to see what comes next.

Where to begin? Where to begin? Donita K. Paul has done it again! Dragons, adventure, danger... what more would you want in a fantasy novel?
I was very muchly excited when I was able to obtain a copy of this book to review. No matter that I haven't read the first book yet, but I'm planning on picking up a copy of that one just as soon as I'm able. *coughs* Moving on... Two Renegade Realms was definitely a fun read. There were a few little things that seemed a bit confusing, but that would be quickly mended if I had read the aforementioned first book first. The characters are lively and memorable, the plot was active and engaging, and I ended reading with a hunger for the next book.
Frankly, I'm having trouble writing this review, because it's easier for me to write reviews for books I didn't enjoy. Yeah, I'm weird like that. My favorite character, without a doubt, was Bridger, the shapeshifting dragon. I could understand Cantor's frustration with him as Bridger tended to be a little on the oblivious and careless side, but he was so hilarious! Mrs. Paul has a terrific talent in giving each one of her dragons special personality. Even though most of her books include dragons as main characters/elements, the dragons in each series are so unique. I think that's one thing I love about her novels so much -- tons of dragons, yet it's never the same dragon twice.
I also really liked Cantor's character development. More somber than most, Cantor is stuck with Bridger as his constant (dragon companion for the realm walkers), and he is not secret in his desire for a new constant. Bridger bears his complaints well, but he doesn't want to leave Cantor. Their teamwork got better as the novel progressed, and by the end -- well, now I can't give away everything, now can I?
The portals are incredibly epic. Just thought I'd point that out.
Advisory: Some fantasy fighting and descriptions of battles, but nothing terribly graphic. A group of foreign/alien invaders are written as being awful enemies, gruesome and despicable. In one scene, they eat people, including babies which they seem to think a delicacy. It was the most violent thing I can recall from one of Mrs. Paul's books, but it's not portrayed graphically.
Other things to note quickly would be scenes of injuries/sicknesses. Nothing big, but two of the main characters in the book are healers, so it's natural to expect that. Also, some suggestions of romance, but nothing really comes of it.
*Please note: I received a copy of this book from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.*

I've been waiting to read Two Renegade Realms since I finished and reviewed
One Realm Beyond
! Three years after the events of One Realm Beyond, all of our favorite characters are reunited for an important mission. However, the legendary Chomountain isn't what they expected and the now rogue Realm Walkers will have to work together to avert a disastrous intersection of the realms.
With the time skip comes surprises such as Cantor's growth spurt, leaving him much taller than his peers. It leads to a lot of fun moments when he reunites with his old friends. Bixby, the daughter of royalty, is as bubbly and petite as ever. I spent half the book trying to figure out if the author is planning to romantically pair her with Cantor. They have a sweet friendship right now, along with several moments that feel like they're flirting with something more. It makes me wonder why Mrs. Paul created such a height difference between the two ... (I'm sure it's intentional). Scholarly Dukemee and Bridger, the slightly klutzy dragon, completes the entertaining ensemble cast. Ending on a slight cliffhanger (again), it'll be interesting to see how this trilogy close (I'm assuming the title will have a "three" in it somewhere). ;-)
As someone who has read a lot of fantasy novels, the absence of a character list/glossary and a map was very noticeable. I think the books could really benefit from their inclusion --especially if someone is jumping in mid-series or if it's been awhile since you read the first novel (like me).
While she often incorporates fantasy-type magic, there is always a creator or God-like figure that orders her fantasy worlds. Though listed as teen fiction, I'd recommend Donita K. Paul's books to upper elementary students and older that love clean fantasy. Her content practically always "all ages appropriate" (think of her as a grandmother telling a story).
[Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.]

About the Book:
In book two of the Realm Walkers Series, Cantor, Bixby, and Dukmee must band together to find the storied realm walker Chomountain after the devastating attack by the corrupt Realm Walkers Guild. But what they discover while traveling turns their mission upside down and they must now find a way to restore Chomountain.
About the Author:
DONITA K. PAULretired from teaching and took up the mantle of grandma. She loves her new career as author of stories her grandchildren devour. Winner of multiple awards, she lives in Colorado, enjoying friends and family, pets and beautiful scenery. Her favorite part of writing is the readers.
My Review:
Cantor, Bixby, and Dukmee have spent three years searching for secrets that could save their realm from an invasion. Now after years of being separated, they along with Cantor's dragon constant, Bridgor have searched the Lymen Library up and down. They soon discover that they are in need of one major thing...an army.
Meeting a small guy by the name of Neekoh, they discover they must find the famed realm walker Chomountain. And maybe with his help, they will be able to save their realm from a deadly invasion. The only problem with this plan is they have no idea how to find him. With time ticking away, they are in a race against trying to get what they need to save everyone.
This is book two in the Realm Walkers Series, it leads us down a few new trails along with some previous ones. This is the perfect book along with the series for children aged 9-12. My daughter is 17 and she has read the series as well. It is full of suspense and the author's writing drives you to turn the page to see what happens next.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the Z Blog Squad.

Like many others, I was eagerly awaiting the release of Donita K. Paul’s new book, Two Renegade Realms. Once again I found myself following the adventures of Cantor, Bixby, and Dukmee in their exotic world consisting of flat, pancake-like realms instead of round planets. Three years have elapsed since the end of the last book. One particular delight was to see Cantor beginning to see the value of his loyal shape-shifting dragon friend Bridger. I also get a kick out of the notion of a dragon keeping a cat as a pet.
Much of the story in this book centers around the search for and rescue of “Chomountain,” who is the right hand of “Primen,” the name for God in this realm. The reader is kept guessing for some time about what is actually going on--which is just as it should be. I had to read the book in bits and pieces and I found that I was thinking and speculating about the story when I wasn’t reading it.
Without giving too much away, I do want to also mention that this story deals with two very different evil attacks. One is the actual, physical attack by the two renegade realms. The other attack is much more subtle and hard to recognize, but in a way just as damaging and just as big a challenge to defeat. The story ends without a full resolution, but that is to be expected since there is another book yet to come.
Like all great young adult literature, this story can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages, up to and including a middle-aged adult like myself. Now the wait begins for the final installment of this imaginative story.
Note: This book is the middle book in a planned trilogy, so if you haven’t read the first book, One Realm Beyond, you should read that first.

Special thanks to Zondervan for providing a sample copy of this book for review.
Welcome to a world were certain individuals, realm walkers, can cross between different realms through portals. The realm walkers are paired with a mor dragon, a constant, to help them during the travels, assignments, and adventures. Unfortunately, the current Realm Walkers Guild is corrupt and seeks to do more evil than good. The old ways and good is slowly perishing to the evil that is consuming the realms.
It took me a little while to get into Two Renegade Realms, book two in the Realm Walker series by Donita K. Paul. It wasn’t because it wasn’t interesting, but rather because I was trying to recall all that had happened in the first book. Three years have passed since the series of events at the end of One Realm Beyond. After I had refreshed my memory, I dove right into the book and couldn’t wait to see where it lead.
The book continued to develop the characters and some relationships that were started in the first book. Quests were continued while additional quests were added. Time was of the essence due to some impending doom across the realms.
I enjoyed seeing how some of the characters had grown and changed since the end of the last book. The story was intriguing with a variety of twists along the way.
Dragons, magicians, realm walkers, spells, healers, and individuals are constantly torn between good and evil. Will they serve Primen or will they serve the evil one? Sides have been drawn and there is no middle ground. People aren’t always who they appear to be, and everyone must be aware that spies could be in their midst.
I look forward to reading the conclusion of the Realm Walker trilogy.

This book is a fantasy and is about several Realm Walkers. A Realm Walker has the ability to travel through portals to other realms. It is discovered that there is going to be an attack by two renegade relams. Cantor and his constant, a dragon names Bridger, along with Bixby and Dukemee, two other Realm Walkers, set out to look for Chomountain, who will be able to help them stop the attack. When they find Chomountain, he doesn't know who he is, due to a spell that has been placed on him. The others are amazed at his powers once he realizes that he is Chomountain. The group splits up to find more dragons to help in their quest. They find the dragons have been captured and drugged to keep them from escaping. Once they free the dragons, they travel on to find more Realm Walkers. They discover that there are many other realm walkers who have been captured, as well. Once they are all freed, they set out to figure out how to stop the invasion. Chomountain is able to look ahead in time and see how they are invaded and is able to figure out the best way to stop the invasion. The Realm Walkers and dragons prepare to attack the invaders before they land and are able to prevent an attack from ever taking place.
There was some back story at the beginning and it was not always easy to make sense of it. There were some enjoyable parts to the story and seeing how the Realm Walkers cared for each other was nice. I would recommend this book to older teens/young adults who are interested in fantasy. (reviewed by T.Lyles)

I was first captured by the beautiful cover of this book. Second; I’ve read several of this authors books and loved reading them. This author usually writes for middle readers 5-8th graders. Her stories are dragon adventures filled with fun, and fantasy. It’s a great escape. I like that all of the dragons in her books are very different, unique (just like people) I couldn’t wait to jump into this magical world filled with dragons and mystery. What I didn’t realize when I ordered this title is this was book two in the Realm Walker series.
I tried several times to read this book all the way thru but there was so much missing that other readers would have grasped from book one. This book is not a stand-alone novel. I couldn’t wrap my mind around and follow the story line. I found it hard to navigate my way through this fantasy world and connect with the place and its characters. I was lost. I didn’t know the, who, what, where, why and when. I’m going to try this book again once I’ve read book one in the series titled, One Realm Beyond.

This book was so much better than the first one! The characters were more believable in their actions and the plot was more engaging. I was pleased to see some action in this book, however mild it may have been, and I do look forward to finishing the series. I also loved the spiritual examples that I saw throughout the book, very inspiring:-) However, this book seemed to move both too fast and too slow at the same time...and that is not necessarily a 'good' thing or 'bad' thing. It moved too fast, in the scenes that were short and choppy where it seemed like the author was in a hurry to get to the next scene, making them seem unfinished. The ways that Two Renegade Realms was too slow were in the story, on how it kept dragging out and the characters kept finding more pieces to the puzzle before they could put them together, and the pieces were acquired too easily. I would have preferred to see either a considerable amount of more action or some explanations to certain "pieces of the puzzle", so to speak. Even with all of the above, I still enjoyed this read and rate it 4 out of 5 stars, but I am warning older teens, like 15 and up, this might not be for you as the action is not "upper teen" worthy.
A Quick Tip to the Author: Another thing that might have made the story pick up speed, would be if you showed us the story rather than telling it and had had some more dialogue between the characters and less self examination.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved this more or the same as the first book, I can't decide because they were both really good.
This book takes place 3 years after the first one which at first confused me but as I read it made more sense and it was really fun.
Cantor still annoyed me with the way he treats Bridger but it was definitely better than the first book.
Bridger and Bixby is still my favorite characters within this series. They are great and so witty and awesome.
I liked the other characters and the new ones that we meet. I can't stand Errod Tos he is so evil and I still don't know what to make of what his ultimate plans are and it kind of scares me for the characters I love in this series.
The 2 renegade realms were interesting plot twist in this book. The description of the people/creatures (not to sure what they are) was slightly creepy and very dangerous. I was wondering how Cantor and the gang were going to deal with them.
I seriously need the next book because I really want to know what is going to happen and the ending of this book was a cliffhanger and I am excited to see how things are going to play out in the next book.

Donita K. Paul's books are absolutely delightful. Full of creativity, an in-depth understanding of people, and a fair amount suspense (that surprisingly never leaves me feeling anxious), Two Renegade Realms had me up late turning page after page.
I enjoyed the character's growth, the twists and turns of the story, the incredible imagination of the author and the truth that echoed through every line of the story. Somehow, despite the very real evil portrayed in the book, the writing never feels dark and hope is never lost. (The books remind me of Narnia in that regard). It is rare that a middle book of a series does more than just move the story along, but this book had a great deal of resolution in its own right. Yes, the story continues, however, several challenges have been met along the way. I give the Realm Walker Series a five star rating.
I want to say a HUGE thank you to Zondervan for mailing me a copy of this book for review.
All my opinions are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.

In this second book in the Realm Walkers series, we learn more about about the unique solar system that these "Realms" orbit through.
Bixby and Cantor have discovered that there are realms that have wide orbits that keep them from the other realms. Every few thousand years these realms intersect with the main group of planes and a devastating invasion occurs. The time of the next invasion is near and now the realm walkers need to find an army to stop the invaders. If they could just stop getting side tracked first.
They have to find an ancient wizard and some ancient stones and rescue their fellow realm walkers, and maybe if there's still time they can marshal an army.
I loved this installment in the series because no matter how unrelated their tasks or the strangers they meet, the author ties it all together into a beautiful and believable narrative.
Now if only I didn't have to wait for the next book.
