Um, I'm sorry, what in the heck did I just read, and what was that ending????

So we have our fmc Eva, and she is literally incredible. This poor, beautiful woman has had it tough for a few years and wants to go to college for her best friend Farrah. She is talented, kind, a little niave (you'll understand why quickly), and truly deserves happiness after all she's gone through. Our mmc's are Cooper, Colter, Mason, and Liam. I don't know why I like these men because they really shouldn't be likable with the ways in which they manipulated Eva, but I just do. Colter and Cooper are twins and Fah's big brothers. Mason and Liam are also twins. They are all so different, but they each complete Eva in their own unique way.

The plot was mind-blowing. It was twist after twist. I thought it was so interesting to see not only the 5 main characters but also side characters that played a crucial part in the story have pov's, which in turn gave me a very real view on what is truly going on. Once Eva arrives at uni, she is determined to make it work and live for her best friend. The problem is, certain some one's blame Eva and her family for things that have occurred within their lives and are determined to make Eva's life difficult to the point of you know what. To top it off, these certain some one's start to fall hard and fast for Eva but are still determined to seek justice. Things aren't as they seem, and I just can't quite figure out yet who is behind it all...

I can't wait to see what happens next because it is going to be explosive. I really want Eva to lose it and prove just how strong she truly is.

I have so many questions!!! I genuinely thought I had worked this out until that second last revenge scene. That was brutal to read and it doesn’t let up for those last few chapters. This isn’t a tame bully romance and is a pretty full-on game of psychological warfare. There are moments where your heart will break for Eva Rose as she hits rock bottom only to realise it can get worse. I cannot wait to see her come back swinging.

There are a lot of toxic characters in this one. The mean girls are all vile but we don’t need to worry about them as the boys are so much worse. Liam is maybe the best of a bad bunch but I hate how they are all targeting Eva Rose for something she hasn’t done (even if she does have misplaced guilt, they are aiming at her as a way to get back at her dad and brother which just gives me the rage). None of them deserve her and the grovel better be good! I love Jade though (Nix writes amazing ride or die characters) and the volleyball girls have a great dynamic to even things out. It was a highlight seeing my favourites from Edgewood too although I’d love Ariah to make an appearance and put these twins in their place. Her and Jade would be a force to be reckoned with and Eva could use them in her corner after that explosive finale!

4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Yes!!!! This. Book. Is. Amazing.

OMG! THIS BOOK!

Destroyed in the best way possible. If you love dark romance, why choose, and obsessed MMC’s, I promise you will love this book!

Eva is an incredible FMC, and my heart is broken for her but also in complete awe of the strength of her character, despite all the things she is going through, i just want to hug her and keep her safe 😆.

The guys? Where to start with the guys?

The Jacobi brothers motivation is powerful, and I love that family is their main priority, and how stubborn they are in their quest for justice, even if it’s leading them to make some pretty questionable decisions. The Bradley brothers have motivating factors, but I love the undeniable chemistry between Liam & Eva and Mason & Eva from the moment they met.

The plot was excellently executed, leaving my on the edge of my seat, while clinging to every detail to make sure I didn’t miss anything, because I was one hundred percent hooked from the minute I opened the book.

Now…THAT ENDING! NO BUT WHATTTTTT?! I have no words! I am not okay. I may have (gently) thrown my kindle down on the table. Then convinced myself it couldn’t have ended like that….so I had to go back and check again …… how am I supposed to breatheeee?!!! I absolutely need more, and I’m already questioning whether it’s too soon to read it again 😆

I loved this book. Honestly, I felt genuinely sucked into this book and found it difficult to put down. This is a fantastic romance, but it is also such a good mystery. I have so many questions about everything that is happening, and I cannot wait to find out the answers in the next book. I also love the romance within this book. I am so excited to see how the dynamic between Eva, Cooper, Colter, Liam, and Mason continues to develop. Like i am just so excited to see what happens next with them like they are all so perfect together but also so completely fucked up. I adore them, I just cannot wait for the next book, I need to know what happens next.

Slightly off topic, but I also love how this book takes place at the same time and in the same universe as the Edgewood Elite books. I love seeing the boys from that book crossover into this one, and I'm excited to see how their stories intertwine.

My heart is unwell, I fear I am obsessed with this book and I should run the other way but like Eva, red is obviously green for me 😏

I went into this book completely blind and *insert my infamous cat crying emoji here* I am UNWELL. I don’t remember the last time I was so invested in a book I finished in less than 48 hours. Distorted Obsession had everything, from mental health rep to bully romance and why choose 😩

This book took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, I actually cried cried. Not like a little tear, I mean like I balled my eyes out while my heart quite literally hurt 😭 I give infinity stars, 5 isn’t enough. PH Nix, you got me so messed up, respectfully 🙂‍↔️ thank you for writing this book, I really needed an FMC I can relate to mental health wise 🖤

First of all, that cliffhanger? Rude. I literally threw my kindle. That’s how invested I was in Evie’s HEA. This was my first read by P.H.Nix and I enjoyed every minute of it (except the cliffy haha). This is a dark, let me repeat 𝘋𝘈𝘙𝘒 Academia Why Choose, set in Groveton College in TX, where Eva Rose has 2 sets of twins (!!) as love interests.

This was different than anything I’ve read recently, which I welcomed. Colter, Cooper, Mason, and Liam all have twisted vengeance in store for Miss Evie that doesn’t quite go according to their plans. There are elements of suspense and spice with a great plot. This is about how Eva Rose, this shattered girl learns to survive by giving in - to pain, to pleasure, to them. And in return, they love her in the only way they know how: violently, obsessively, and without apology.

This is not a romance for the faint of heart. There is great mental health rep, diverse representation in the characters, blood, self-harm, murder, torture, assault…lots of trigger warnings here. A great shopping list for me 😉 Overall, I would definitely recommend - 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒃𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 is a dark little masterpiece.

This is a dark one - make sure to check all triggers before digging in. It starts out very heavy and heartbreaking. This story aches with pain from every direction. Hurt people hurting people. Everyone has some sort of heartache and is trying to work through that pain, either by hurting others or hurting themselves in some way. If you have ever been in pain or experienced grief, I think you will understand the feeling. Some find relief in the spice that unfolds. And that spice is 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️!! The FMC and MMC characters are flawed, but redeemable. The MMCs say one thing, but their actions speak something different, and loudly. There is also a mystery person wreaking havoc from the outside that has you guessing around every corner. While it feels like there is a lot going on, it is all so cohesive and you move through the story so quickly. This does end on a big cliffhanger, which leaves you screaming into the ether. I need to know what happens next! Will she remember? Will the truth be unveiled? I don’t want to wait to see the conclusion of these characters’ stories!

Having been a fan of the Edgewood Academy Elite series I couldn’t wait to dive into this next installment of the shared world this time focus on the Jacobi twins, who we meet in the Elites series.
I would say this time round it did take me a bit longer to get into the flow of the story than the previous series even though I knew who some of the characters already were. There were a few reasons for this; this story is more dark and layered and not straight forward in expectations at all. Where you think the story is taking you, it’s really going in a different way.
There’s more languages and cultures this time round which was really interesting to read about, some of the sentiments spoken to Eva were so beautiful in their own way.
There are also a lot more characters at play this time, the Jacobis, the Bradleys, the vapid group of bully girls and the best named group of idiots: Brad, Chad and Thad- love this by the way P H Nix!
This means this time round I have taken my time reading, processing, getting flustered with all that spice and got round to that cliffhanger ending all too soon. Can’t wait to see if my theories are correct!

AAAAHHH imagine my surprise when I realised this book was BLACK Y’ALL!! I did not know this author was black so I am extra hyped about this book. BLACK FMC, BLACK CULTURE, BLACK CHARACTERS YES LAWD!!!

This book was gut wrenching, I related to Eva’s trauma so much. The author did amazing deceiving her pain and shining a light that says “yes, black women suffer deeply too.” The men were well written and it was easy to see the transition for them.

The simultaneous murder plot line is also really good. It was well balanced between our character driven plot and our action driven plot.

The only reason I’m not giving this 5 starts is because of the language barrier. I wish the author would’ve included a language guide because I had to skip over those sentences because I didn’t know what they meant or what languages they were to google them.

I’ve waited for this book ever since groveton shared universe came out. I’m so glad it’s finally released. I hope the next book doesn’t take as long.

Holy Jacobi -- what did I just read!

I cannot express how much this book took me by surprise. I mean it was just one thing or another. It was a whirlwind of a story.

A girl who is suffering and blaming herself for her past and guys who just want to torture and use her for something that she keeps blaming herself, when in reality -- is she responsible for what happened? She's stuck between four guys who rock her world but for all the wrong reasons and when she finds out what exactly is going on ... what do you think her reaction is going to be!

They preyed on her and took advantage of her vulnerability so someone has to pay for what she's going through and being punished for something that she had nothing to do with.

WOW, this book really did take me by surprise and boy was it H.O.T.! It was a fast paced, dark, very dark book that if you can't handle the definition of dark then I suggest you stay away, but if you are unhinged like I am then you would LOVE IT!!

Distorted Obsession, the first book in this RH contemporary bully series, is more than a story about vengeance. It's more about psychological warfare. The mind games are everywhere...built on so many layers that you'll never be able to see what's real and what's part of the game. Worse, there are too many players and too many games being played. So who is the true game master?

Distorted Obsession will mess with your head. You'll wonder what is the real story and why Eva Rose holds herself responsible. And you can just sense the hurt that is coming. Although the cliffhanger at the end was way bigger than I expected.

Please take into account the author's note and warnings for this book. The storyline is dark, with some themes that could be a trigger for some, so readers should be prepared before starting.

The cliffhanger omg

I knew Nix would take us on a ride, but wow. Eva and her best friend struggled mentally, and after losing her best friend feeling like she's at fault, she tries to go on by heading to college. She is continually bullied but does have some great roommates who try to defend her. Everyone wants revenge against Eva's family, and between the Bradley Twins and the Jacobi brothers, Eva is falling right into their trap to make her pay!

The end will shock you and make you wanna throw your book like wtf. Did that really just happen. I have questions Nix😂 I sure hope book 2 will be here quickly because I need answers!

Make sure you check your triggers. Because this book is full of them. Do not take them lightly if things trigger you. And if you don't have triggers, dive into the start of another amazing series by Nix!

Why choose

I couldn’t put the book down, I was so excited to see what would happen, and the secrets that are hiding in this story are crazy.
If you ever wanted a book with twins, then girl, hold on because theirs 2 sets of twin brothers is this story.
Eva story broke my heart and the life she struggled with. She just didn't see anyway around things. I understood why she did what she did, but if only she really listened and saw the twins, she might not have gotten so surprised at the end.
This book was full of secrets, but when you think you had it figured out. Here come the twist and turns and throwing you way off. The cliffhanger had me wondering all night what could happen next. Can't wait for book 2.

Eva has had a rough life and it was compounded by the death of her best friend. She is feeling guilty for many reasons but she didn't kill her. Her guilt has her now trying to honor her friend by living her dreams. 

However, she is noe at school with her dead besties brothers and they also blame her for their sister's death. They have a plan but as with most plans there are always unexpected things that pop up. 

What will Eva do with all her trauma, guilt and confused feelings? Will she honor her friend or go down in flames? 

Secrets, lies and the unknown leave you wondering who is doing what and who is on who's side.

OHHHHHH MYYYYYYY GAWD!!!
I’m ruined and I love it. Such a great book. Good story, excellent characters one’s you love to love and one’s you love even more to hate, the twists keep twisting, and usually I can have a book figured out but this one has me completely confused and that’s my favorite part!!! WHO DONE IT, with spice! I wish the MFC had a little more back bone but I know this author well and I am confident that that character will have her awakening and vengeance in the end. And if it’s as great in book 2 as this book was, Ooooooooooo I can’t wait! It’s written so well that the pages turn effortlessly and you won’t be able to put it down until it’s done. Enjoy the insane ride!

Nix is back and this book was an emotional roller coaster, definitely giving you all the emotional feels! Don’t forget she is the queen of cliff hangers and this one made me throw my kindle!

I loved the character development and the romance between them! Eva definitely goes through it all and I feel for her! And those boys need I say more you’ll just have to read it for yourself (insert wink face).

If you have read the Edgewood elite or have not there is a crossover and I was here for it because that series is so good, so if you have not read that one and wanted more from those characters I highly recommend.

Left Bare
Another Dark that checked the boxes, you will defitnely want to reaffirm your love of the dark with this one. Youve been warned.
I love me some Bully sure do, saying that I wanted to smack the "boys" its rare it took a minute to warm up to them. All the votes aren't in yet... just saying.
This story created layers then peeled them back and left you bare.
I'll need to go back and reread this slow so I can absorb it.

Chokehold! I am in a chokehold! Dark college romance with a polygamous relationship with mm YES . This book has all the dark and twisted tropes and warnings I search for. Multiple POV to give the reader a more in depth understanding of the characters. You might think you know where the story is going but this book is not predictable. I was so engrossed in this book it flew by and I am EXCITED and FRUSTRATED because I am left out on a cliffhanger to await the next book. I am a fan now for sure!!

Umm excuse me but what did I just read?! Like what in the actual?! My heart is freaking in pieces and warning, this leaves us on a major cliffhanger that made me scream NOOOO and nearly throwing my kindle. There’s soooo many plot twists and I can’t even attempt to predict what is next. Our poor Eva has gone through so much trauma and clearly she has her secrets but I have no idea what they even could be. Also be ready for all the theories because I am literally one heart beat away from ordering an fbi board just to get all my thoughts together.

highly recommend!!

I ended up finishing this book in about a day, it was incredibly hard to put this book down! Eva’s character was written so beautifully that I could relate to her a lot, and that’s one of the main things I look for when I’m looking for a new read. Her grief became my own and I cannot wait for the second book (especially after that cliffhanger, be warned!!!)
I HIGHLY recommend picking up this for your next read, you won’t regret it!
I will however warn, PLEASE take into consideration all the trigger warnings.

You’re going to need them!! I absolutely loved this book. My emotions were in chaotic overload from page 1. The story and characters grad a hold of you and not let go. The cliffhanger will more than likely have you cussing and throwing your kindle or book! Need book 2 ASAP! Definitely a must read!!!

When I tell you I wanted to cry, throw my phone, scream in a pillow I mean it. This book had me on a roller coaster of emotions. This is one of the darkest books I’ve read in a while. I absolutely loved it. The book kept me in suspense asking questions, making me hate some of the mmc at times. Girl bringing out all the emotional stops , crying , laughing 🔥🔥spicy , all types of feelings throughout the book.
This was something totally different and it was very good ! Wow soooo many people through soo much in this book,
A lot of fingers pointed a lot of anger ! This was a couldn’t put down book bc you needed to see what was next! But I did have to sleep and work that the only reason I put down.

She’s done it again! After the Edgewood series, I didn’t think any other series could compare but holy sh*t. I was wrong. PLEASE do yourself a favor and check this book out. Honest to God, you’ll love it if you love dark romance, possessive lovers, and slightly broken people that somehow you know are meant to be together even when it seems they shouldn’t. I liked this! It's Eva's story & it was a hard one to read. She's been through so much trauma & is being punished for things she didn't do. There's a lot of players on this board, & I haven't made up my mind about any of the guys. This is full of secrets, manipulation & psychological warfare. The story was awesome & ends on a cliffhanger. Please be aware this is a really dark book & isn't easy to read.
Highly recommend this book & author!
