This is book 4 of an interconnected standalone series, and I haven’t read the other books. I wasn’t confused, but near the end of the book, I realized that answers to questions I had will be answered in the next book or, should have been talked about in the previous ones. So, in the end, I didn’t really find anything out 🙃 I didn’t hate it, there just really wasn’t a story other than the romance aspect of things.
This follows Kaleb and Samantha, foster siblings. I loved the taboo and forbidden aspect of the romance. I liked Kaleb a lot. Samantha wasn’t my favourite. I thought she acted VERY childish for her age and I was cringey at times…
This was a quick read, but left me with more questions than answers for a “standalone” and ended on a positive cliff hanger? I get it’s to make you keep reading but, it’s just difficult as an ARC reader who hasn’t read anything else from the series, to review this… Was this horrible? No, not at all! Did I enjoy this? Yes! Would I recommend it? Yes but ONLY if you start with book 1 and read it as a series!
Overall though, good job! And thank you Jennifer for the opportunity to read this entire it’s released! ☺️🫶

This didn't feel as spicy as the others. A little more bland despite the taboo. I do have a soft spot for Kaleb though. Felt this plot could've delved a little deeper.
As a huge fan of this series, I couldn't wait for Samantha and Kaleb's story. The tension has been building throughout the last 3 books, and although this relationship is taboo, forbidden, and has incredibly high stakes, it finally finds a way.
One fateful night, the dynamic reaches a boiling point while Kaleb is protecting his family (and blowing off a little steam), and the masks come off.
Blood gives more insight into Kaleb's origin story, as well as what his relationship with the Cromwells means to him. We also get more insight into Samantha's need to push back against everything he says and does. They also show undying loyalty to their family, alongside Daniel, Charlie, Michael, and Lara.
If you love a dark romance where you find yourself rooting for the "bad guy" to get the girl, then this is the story for you! Blood revisits the world of 80's summer camp slasher movie vibes, complete with chase scenes, water play, and dubcon. It's a fast-paced read with dual POV, giving all the found-family vibes we have come to love in this series.
As with all the previous books in the series, Blood sets us up perfectly for Lock, where we'll catch up with Shelby and the town doctor who seems to have more than just a few secrets of his own.
I love this book and am so happy for Kaleb story! I've been waiting for it since Michael's book. Honestly I do like Kaleb the most, I don't know why but him being overprotective of his sister and I'm using that loosely. Just makes it all the more better cuz you see their relationship through all of the books and just to finally read this one words their story. Just got to love it. I did wish I knew a little bit more about Kaleb's backstory. I know they don't really say much but I wanted just a little bit more. Like I just wanted to know what his mom did but I like the mystery of it too. Honestly I can't wait for the next book because of what happened at the end of this book I know for a fact the final book is going to be good. Because there's been one character I just been hoping for them to go goodbye. But they haven't yet, and clearly they have caused a lot of problems. This book does have smut, has a lot of family dynamics, and I feel like you don't need to read the other books but it would be better to read it cuz you understand each brother. And you will get to understand the family a lot more. Still of this book, cannot wait for the last one.
I love spooky, horror movie vibe books, especially in the fall season when we're in those cooler months. It's such a vibe. Blood was definitely that. It's been a while since I've read the others in the series so I sort of forgot what happened and who the characters are, so I felt a little loss in this one. I couldn't remember characters and what roles they played, but the story was still really good and really enjoyable. I loved Kaleb's story, though, this one wouldn't be my favorite in the series. But this series overall is amazing. Kaleb isn't as intense as the others though his taboo relationship with his step sister has a lot of tension. I can't wait for the next one in the series though. I've really enjoyed these. I literally finish each one in one sitting because once I start in on these, I can't stop.
We are back in Cromwell for this instalment. With Kaleb and Samantha. I'll be honest I was a little apprehensive about this book as in book 1 & 2 I was not a fan of Samantha, and if I'm being honest I didn't like her in 80% of this book. It wasn't a I loved her at the end kind of situation. Her outward personality and perception that she is above everyone and everything really grated on me. Genuinely couldn't understand why Kaleb wanted her. They do say love is blind though. Samantha throughout this book acted childishly, bratty and entitled. Some highlights of this book are Kaleb and Shelby acting like siblings and I found that to be very cute and funny. The scene where Kaleb blurts out that he "fucked your sister" to Daniel and Michael was just comedy gold lol. Kaleb as a whole was a massive highlight, his Each book that passes
Kaleb is a bit different. I'm not a big fan of his but I do love Sam and Kaleb together. They balance each other out a bit. The big problem I have with this book is that I have to wait so I can find out what happens next. It's like a cliffhanger not not as bad. Kind of like cliffhanger lite. I can't go into too many details without giving it away but I will say this the people you don't like don't get any better.
I really can't get enough of this series. Mind you, please read the triggers. These are not the darkest books but some of the themes might bother someone... someone is obviously not me... I wish these were longer, I've never been reading a book by this author and wished it was over. Sigh... just impatiently waiting for the next book.
I received an ARC copy of this book and had not read any other books in the series YET before reading this. I absolutely love a taboo dark romance and this absolutely delivered and the spice 🥵 . I did have some questions throughout the book about characters and how they all tie in together but will definitely be going back to books 1-3!
We've had hints in the previous story about these two being more than what was expected. There is blood, as the title suggests, and the scenarios are different. No book in the series reads exactly like another. I do like seeing the couples from previous stories. I also enjoy the dual pov. I didn't get as much of the possessive crazy vibe in this one. Enjoy!
I went into Kaleb’s book expecting it to be my favorite, but it ended up being the weakest of the series so far. I still have a soft spot for him because of the earlier books, but this one just didn’t hit the same. The pacing dragged, the tension fizzled, and compared to the rest of the series, it felt surprisingly off and almost tame. Even with the taboo element, it lacked the same dark edge and intensity the series is known for, almost as if it belonged in a different series altogether.
I had a lot of fun with this story. Did i expect a bit more in terms of character introduction (specifically Caleb, and when and how he became obsessed with FMC, probably) also we didn’t really see when she fell for Caleb. But i had lots if fun with their story, and i can’t wait for the next book. I would say it needed a bit more character development, but then again i was here for the vibes, smut and some unaliving so i can’t complain 😹
