1. How can you possibly have “lackluster exhilaration”? That’s like saying “hot cold”. You also can’t have a “bright pastel”. 🙄
2. I don’t mind a bit of MM but almost the whole book was just the guys in the pack having $ex with each other.
3. Why didn’t the Graves pack and Omen recognize each other as Fated after they met?
4. I’m at 42% and absolutely nothing has happened (except for LOTS of MM $ex) and I’m bored. It’s clear the author tried to drag the book out to make it a duet.
5. For Nebula to reject Omen because her brother rejected his sister and caused her death was unforgivable. I’m only reading the next book because I want to see if the Graves pack can even come close to making up for the way they betrayed Omen.
***Spoiler ... they didn't.

I was so so so lucky to get to Beta read this book.

I want to disclaimer, that JC and I didn’t know each other before she let me read her story. She’s a friend of a friend (another amazing author) and that friend facilitated us meeting and my subsequent reading of the Primordial Covenant duet.

So a few things: This is not someone who is a friend just giving a good review because I’m friends with the author. We didn’t even know each other and hadn’t even talked when I picked up the doc.

I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to feel because Im really not a fan of rockstar romances. For some reason I always shy away from them because I feel like the MMC’s are always morons who make stupid decisions just because they’re rockstars. I’m also not a HUGE fan of MM and knew going into this that this pack was poly- not just Why Choose with MM.

So with all of that being said, believe me when I tell you that this is, hands down, the BEST Omegaverse I’ve read all year. I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up all night reading the first book, and when she let me read the second book of the duet, It was no hardship at all to go back and re-read book 1. In fact, I WANTED to.

First off,

The Plot:

We have our amazing masked singer band… a group of Alphas and a Beta who are a part of one of the most popular bands in the nation. We also have our sweet Omega heroine, Omen. Omen has been living for years in the designation equivalent of Witness Protection. Her father is the leader of a cult-like anti-pack and anti-designation community and he is freaking HORRIBLE. From flogging her older brother publicly when he presented as an Alpha, to employing an evil doctor who he allows to experiment on the members of his “flock” who present as anything other than a Beta. Her childhood and young adult life is truly horrific. Because of this and so many other things, Omen is terrified to put her potential future mates in danger with how rich and far reaching her father’s power is. This man is friend with politicians and millionaires so it’s not a matter of just ignoring him. Omen *has* to stay hidden.

Omen is a photographer, and with her best friend and “foster” sister, she gets a job touring with Primordial Covenant as their Tour/Band photographer, while her best friend gets a job as the manager of the band’s opening act. Both girls are heavily protected with security, and of course are fearful but they refuse to let Omen’s past and their fear of anti-designation/pack activists to ruin their chances of a good life and doing what they love.

Of course, the guys know almost right away that they want Omen. They are almost immediately obsessed with her. It’s soooo much fun to watch. Theres so many ups an downs and the tour setting is just sooo good. The forced proximity, the new experiences they all get to do together, the simmering attraction that turns to lust and then to love? Its perfection.

The Pack

These are the kind of rockstars I want to read about. These guys are badass hot AF musicians that are in a masked band (legit think Sleep Token.. who I also have never listened to outside of the random songs that pop up on TikTok) and consist of all Alpha’s and a single Beta. These guys love each other. Straight up, there is so much love flowing through this pack that it tugged at every single one of my heartstrings. They always have each others backs and always want whats best for each other. They are one of the best examples of the way a true pack in OMV romance should work that I’ve ever read. It’s not just a few hot guys thrown together for the sake of the author having a pack— these guys have bonds that can not be broken. Even when a few of them screw up majorly, they are there for each other and work to make each other better.

Omen

Omen is everything I want in a heroine. The hurt/comfort is phenomenal even if the guys don’t really know what her secret is. Because her father is so well known she’s terrified of telling them who she really is— the daughter of the most dangerous anti-designation leader in the country. She doesn’t want them to judge her for her family’s sins, and even more she doesn’t want to put them in danger.

But… fate has other ideas. One thing I loved more than anything is the way JC Belenac approach’s fated mates. Each fated mate bond generates in a different way. A year before Omen is hired as the band’s photographer, she is hanging out and writes something on her arm… and a shortly afterward she gets a response. Her fated mates can WRITE TO HER ON THEIR BODIES. So if she wants to talk to them, all she has to do is write anywhere on her body, and it shows up on the same place in her handwriting on their body. For the aforementioned reasons, she tells them that she needs time and can’t find them yet, and they all write back that they’ll wait for ever for her if they have to.

So a year later, this band meets Omen, falls for her instantly, but they still know they have a fated omega out there somewhere Obviously they dont know that Omen is their fated omega, but shortly into the tour, she sees one of the guys writing to another one of the pack and it’s showing up on his arm while they’re out together and she knows.

The Betrayal

Ok you guys this is where the book really fucking shined for me. I loved the plot, loved the world, loved the way the author approached fated mates, loved the rockstar and tour element and im a fuckign SUCKER for anything with a heroine with a ton of past trauma… and this book delivered on each one of these points in spades. Absolutely chefs kiss and even without the betrayal this would have made the book a 4.5 star read for me. The betrayal at the end.. the way it’s handled.. the way I honestly felt for the Alphas and how they felt… it was so perfectly wonderfully beautifully done… I loved the story itself more than anything…

SPOILERS BELOW SERIOUSLY

But.

FUCKING BUT.

Eventually, Omen’s secrets come out and she find out that one of the guys in the band … his sister was rejected by her alpha and DIED from rejection sickness. That alpha? OMEN’S OLDER BROTHER. So he already knows he fuckign *hates* Omen’s family… so when he finds out that not only has she been hiding the fact that she’s not only a part of that family but the SISTER of his sister’s killer, AND their fated mate? Ohhhhh shit hits the fan. And they leave her in the worst situation possible.

You’ll be very happy that book 2 comes out in less than a month because when I tell you that the cliffhanger almost brought me to tears?? Whewwww boy.

Ok now.

The Writing

I read a lot of books. Like.. a lot. I’ve read over 600 books so far this year and normally it’s pretty easy to notice when an author is releasing a debut book. Thats just part and parcel of being an author. You grow in your art the more you write. It’s not a condemnation.. just a fact.

Had I not known that this was the author’s first ever debut novel I would have sworn on my child’s life that she had written multiple books before this. The story telling, the technicality, the wording, the way she planted so many different plot points and followed through, the character grown throughout both books… it was perfection. I would have assumed had I just randomly downloaded this book on KU that the author had an entire ass backlog for me to go back and catch up on.

As it stands, I’m extremely honored to be able to be here for the start of what Im sure is going to be an amazing career for her as an author. I can’t wait to find out what she’s going to come up with next (I’ve been told a few options and im internally squealing about both of them) and Im eternally grateful that she took a chance on a friend’s friend who just happened to love why choose omegaverse. I will be rec’ing the shit out of this duet for the foreseeable future.. so if you see me in an OMV book groups or the Betrayal/Grovel romance group on Facebook, dont’ be shocked when you see me posting a link to this book because I genuinely feel like everyone needs to read it😂😅

Yall are not ready for This. That cliffhanger was criminal 😭

I loved this. I'm really glad that we get all the POVs because it really made me feel more connected to all of the characters instead of just the fmc. The men having relationships as well with each other was 🤌🤌🤌. Nebula is kind of on my shit list though 👀

Omen deserves everything good in life. She's so sweet and precious and absolutely did not deserve any of what happened to her. It was really nice seeing her fall in love.

The way the author does fated makes is really interesting. It's different from what you usually see, especially in an omegaverse, and that was really refreshing.

My one complaint might be the dialogue. In some areas it felt forced but definitely not enough to knock a star.

Did I like this book? Absolutely. Do I want to pitch the guys off a cliff for rejecting Omen? Absolutely. There better be some epic groveling from all of them in the next book.

Enjoyed this book, but I'm not sure I was prepared for the drama found in this novel. I'm enjoying the storyline, so of course I'm going to continue.

Do you like the miscommunication trope? No... not MISScommunicstion, but NONcommunication? Because this book definitely has THAT!!

Other tropes:
🎵Masked Musicians
🎵Fated Mates
🎵Coworkers/On Tour
🎵They Fall First
🎵Bubbly, Anxiety filled, Cinnamon Alpha
🎵Pierced 🍆
🎵MMMMF (⚔️)
🎵 AND Betrayal to go with the NONcommunication!!

We have Omen (that's not her "real" name) who is an Omega that just graduated from college with a photography degree, shes got a terrible past, was rescued by DAU: Designation Activist Underground and is in witness protection to keep her away from her anti-pack cult of a family. She lands her dream job of going on tour with a band of mask singers: Primordial Covenant to be their photographer. Nebula: Lead Alpha, Nexus: Alpha, Titan: Alpha, and Callisto: Beta (also, that's not THEIR "real" names) which all have their own pasts dealing with anti-pack judgment.

While on tour, the guys just know Omen is the Omega meant for them, same that Omen feels this is the pack for her! But, are they the Fated Mates that they believe the other to believe? We (the readers) know, but they don't know, because NONCOMMUNICATION. Omen feels she can't move forward with the pack because of her terrible past. Could she have communicated with the guys? No, she chose NONCOMMUNICATION!!

I get so frustrated with noncommunication because Omen is a pendulum of going back and forth, back and forth of being open and honest with the guys: "I can't be with them" "Okay, I'm going to be happy, I'm going to be with them" "No, they are in danger being near me" "I want them" "I can't tell them about my past" "I'm gonna tell them after THIS concert" "Crap... I can't tell them" And guess what, does SHE even end up telling them about her past herself?? NOPE!! Oh, but they DO learn, not by her tho, and with secrets blown wide = betrayal happens!! ...let's be mad at her bc her name isn't Omen... let's not look at how we aren't using OUR real names either... let's not hear her out, bc we prefer NONCOMMUNICATION... GUH! 😮‍💨😤

I wanted to like Omen, I really did, but she was just soooo frustrating!! I wanted to shake the girl just like her BFF, Bea wanted to through 90% of the book! Now the guys, love them! To me, they are a perfect pack balance! I love the sweet Beta Callisto, who keeps the peace. Titan, the giant, silent Alpha, I just want to curl up in his lap. And, you can't not love Nexus, he alone is reason enough to read this book. And then there is Lead Alpha Nebula... the biggest disappointment by the end - for his choices from his own painful past. I feel for him, I do, but come on Bro!

Even though I was frustrated through this book of NONCOMMUNICATION, I was sucked in, and I'm gonna need book 2. And with book 2, I demand and it better have: a gooda$$ grovel from the guys, Nebula gets his sh!t together, Omen finally SPEAKING her feelings/past history, and a happily ever after!! If they don't end up together, I will protest!!

Also, I'm really hoping for Bea's story. I have a feeling that is coming, but I gotta know how/when/if she ends up with sexy Bodyguards: Lex and Ridley, and maybe a grumpy boss too?!!

The flashbacks really bothered me in this book. Some of them really weren't necessary. The book was also easy to skim. I wish we would've seen a bit more of the panic/pain/fear Pack Graves felt when Omen was taken by her father/Dr. Harrison. If I go back and reread, I'll probably only read the last chapter or so of this book and then move to the second one. It just felt a little longer than necessary.

What a start to the duet

Ok, so this book was absolutely incredible. I was hooked. The story is so good, the characters and the wordl building were fantastic.

Can we talk about the tropes? I mean, hellooooo!! Forced proximity, found family fated mates, and so much more, but I feel like saying there is miscommunication through this story would be an injustice to the trope!! It's more like avoidance, but I can totally see why Oman does it, and I'm OK with it!!

I loved the dynamic between the characters. The relationship between the guys is amazing. They all have the roles they play within the pack. This book is off the charts HOT.

This story had me so invested that I didn't want to put it down, and I found myself putting off doing anything else, but reading!!

And can we just take a moment to acknowledge that cliffhanger......... WOW, I literally stared at my Kindle for a moment in total disbelief that the book was over, but im so glad we font have to wait too long for book 2 because I am desperate to know what will happen next.

Wow - what a ride! This book gives major Sleep Token vibes and I'm so here for that. Omen lands a job as the photographer for a masked band she's been obsessed and honestly, love that for her. This is an emotionally charged, why choose romance that features fated mates, a little bit of witness protection, a good dose of MM content, hidden identities and one of my least favorite tropes of all, miscommunications. Well, more like noncommunication.

I really enjoyed having a POV from each character, it gave me a connection to all the pack members and made their dynamics feel so real. That said, it did take a little time to fully distinguish who each guy was but I got there, ha. The pacing felt a little off, for me. It started strong, fell off for a bit but the second half had me hooked. And THAT cliffhanger. Unforgivable. Even though I was fully aware it was coming, it still managed to leave my flabbers gasted.

The Characters (aka, your new fictional obsessions):

Omen - Omega. Photographer with a love of spicy foods and spicy books! Smells like sunflowers and honeysuckle.

Nexus - Alpha with major golden retriever energy. Lead singer and board game enthusiast. Smells like amber and oud.

Titan - Alpha. Quiet cinnamon roll type. Drummer, towering at 6'6 with a soft spot for sour candy. Smells like pink pepper and leather.

Callisto - Beta. Shy marshmallow type. Guitarist/songwriter who has a not-so-secret addiction to reality TV. Smells like cedar and violet.

Nebula - Alpha. The overprotective pack leader and bassist. Smells like smoked vanilla and tobacco.

If you're a fan of masked bands, emotional tension and why choose romances with fated mates this book is for you. Just prepare yourself - this story will shatter your heart, drive you insane and leave you desperate for book two.

I have no idea how to rate this so I am just shoving 3 stars as a placeholder.

I know book two gets a lower rating but idk if it is a 1 or 2 star book. Or if this is a four and that is a 3. I know my current dislike of this book stems from a major trope used in it which I loathe. But I cannot decide what a fair rating would be since I normally avoid that trope because it is so triggering to me and i usually DNF the ones that sneak in so this is unfamiliar territory.

This book started really good, like 5 stars I am going to take money from my food fund to buy a copy for my shelves level of good. I loved it, right up until the shall we say 3rd act break up. Then it became kindling for a dumpster fire.

I think if any other trope would have been used to create tension here, or even this one without crossing a safety line with it, I would have been OK with the book and enjoyed it to the end.

I am still so livid right.

In case you're like me and hate rejected mates books because the groveling is never right after the level of cruelty between the so called love interests to satisfactory level that lets me believe they've overcome their issues and all will be well......let me just tell you this is a rejected mates book "we hope our rejected mates dies" book. If that trope is your thing and you want to cry, then you will probably love this book.

I somehow missed that trope warning and was really not happy when To me, that is the line and the book crossed it.

If we could ignore that then the book was pretty good. I liked the world, I liked the characters (at least un until then) and I was so curious about what was going to happen next that I couldn't put the book down. It was a good read until it then.

OK so I cried reading this!!! Especially that cliffhanger ending had me in tears....

So we have our fmc Omen. I am obsessed with her. She is so selfless, talented, kind, caring, beautiful and has such an amazing soul. I just wish she pursued what she really wanted instead of second guessing everything because she is so worth it. She has just finished her photography degree and has been offered the job of a lifetime working with Primordial Covenant (a band is she is obsessed with).

Our mmc's are Nexus, Callisto, Nebula and Titan - Pack Graves. Nebula is our Pack Alpha and thrives looking after his mates. Titan is our very tall alpha that tends to be a little on the quieter side. Callisto is our sweet Beta that loves writing music and Nexus is our alpha that loves to make everyone happy even though he questions alot due to his anxiety. They are a beautiful pack but are missing one thing....

From the get go, Omen and the guy's story had me hooked. What they all had to go through in their younger years was truly heartbreaking but it shows great strength in each of their characters as to where they are currently. Omen definitely does struggle with the pull she feels towards Pack Graves when she knows that she has fated mates out in the world waiting for her. The problem is, Pack Graves feels the same way about Omen but they are also waiting for their fated Omega mate. Things between Omen and Pack Graves quickly become complicated and it all kind of explodes in their faces when truths are told. Pack Graves need to grovel and they need to grovel pretty damn hard for putting Omen through it. Poor Omen 💜

Shout out to Bea, she is the best!!! ♥️

I need book 2 now! That ending had me in tears and I needs answers as soon as possible.

Read this! It's so worth it 💜💜💜

Thank you so much to J.C. and your brilliant team for giving me the chance to read this story. I am forever grateful 🙏

I think I have read just about every omegaverse story I can and seen just about everything. It is my number one trope and even if I read the same basic story over and over, I continue to read and love them. But when I find an omegaverse that has something different, I get really excited. I thought that this book was so entertaining. I loved the story and the characters. I thought the whole theme of hiding in plain sight and how basically everyone is wearing masks. I love a good backstory that has shaped our MCs and that’s exactly what we have in this story. When I finished this book, all I wanted to do was start the next one because I needed to know what is coming after the cliffhanger. I love a good omegaverse book and this was definitely one of the better ones that I have read. It pulled me in and dragged me along because I just didn’t want to stop reading it.

The characters in this book were wonderful. Omen was exactly what I want to see in an Omega. She’s a survivor. She has to be strong to protect herself. She is in constant fear that her past will find her and is on her guard to keep herself safe. But that hasn’t stopped her from being accomplished and just amazing. She has her degree in photography and she was offered an amazing opportunity to work with a band she loves. The guys in the band are just great. They are a strong pack where each guy has their role to build the best pack possible. All Pack Graves needs is an omega to complete them. The one thing that frustrates me is the miscommunication between everyone, which is a main theme of this story. There were times I just wanted to knock some sense into people. This was a slow burn and I am so excited to see what comes next.

This was such a well written omegaverse. I was so invested in the story that I didn’t want to put it down. Even though this was a slow burn there was some spicy times in the latter part of the story that made the wait worth it. I throughly enjoyed this book and it was so good to read such a well written omegaverse. It is definitely one I would recommend.

Oh my lanta! This book was SO good! I read omegaverse quite a lot and this will definitely find its place towards the top of my all-time favorites! I'm a sucker for fated mates, especially when the guys fall first, and this book does not disappoint! I love the angst, the danger, the anticipation! It had all the elements I look for to capture and maintain my attention.

Omen is an Omega that is under protection from the anti-pack and anti-designation half of the country and refuses to pursue her fate matched pack for fear of putting them in danger. Pack Graves are a masked rock band that meets their tour photographer, Omen, and immediately feel drawn to her. Omen feels a similar draw but must maintain her distance to protect her identity and keep the anti-pack and anti-designation leaders from targeting Pack Graves.

Nexus, Nebula, Callisto, and Titan make up Pack Graves and they are strong advocates for packs, alphas, and omegas, derived from anguish and upheaval experienced in their youth. As such, they each have their own stress responses and damage that impact their ability to let each other and Omen into their lives.

One of the main themes in this book is miscommunication (or rather a lack thereof), and while frustrating at times, I also felt it was completely justified. Omen is traumatized from the past she was saved from and despite how much she wants to trust Pack Graves, is overwhelmed and ultimately controlled by her fear. Omen could not reveal her true identity without putting everyone at risk, and Pack Graves are hiding much of their true identities as well.

This is extremely slow-burn between Omen and Pack Graves, but if you're wanting spice, you still won't be disappointed. There is some delicious MMMM action with just a tease of some MF in this first installment of the Duet. The cliffhanger is pretty hazardous, but luckily the second in the Duet gets released January 10, 2025! I need to know what happens next and so will you!

I just met the Mother of all angsty reads, that holds the crown jewel of the miscommunication/non communication trope, and I am proud I survived. I am so, so happy to find a book that can shake me, make me scream with frustration and provoke real feelings in me, because I was tired of stories I can't feel and connect with. So yeah, I am obviously a "glutton for punishment" after the author so kindly threw me in a meat grinder and squeezed the air out of my lungs, while I was trying to figure out what I liked the most from the book.
First and foremost - I don't like type of characters like Omen for sure - the back and forth in her train of thoughts - To tell or not to tell, to act or not to act gave me a whiplash, honestly. I like fictional characters with gusto and inner fire that grab their life like bull for the horns and ride it hard, consequences be damned. But that's exactly why I fell in love with the story - the prospect to see a plot so captivating that a single non likeable character couldn't stop me. I was also searching for omegaverse stories where nothing is candy sweet and flows smoothly from the start. Even better if it leads to fractures in existing bonds and threatens to tear apart fated mates.. I wanted to feel tension, doubts, rejection, anguish, pain and self destruction and I got it perfectly delivered all in one plus the bonus of a mighty big cliffhanger. What more can I say - if you want different flavour of Omegaverse where everything goes sideways before it gets better /hopefully, who knows/, then try this one.

I really enjoyed the added elements of this Omegaverse. It's fun to see authors write their own spin on a beloved genre. The suspense of unrest with anti-designation groups and anti-pack supporters helped keep up the tension while the story remained sweet between Omen and the band. Speaking of the band, I was sucked in from the moment I knew this was inspired by one of my very favoritist bands, and I wasn't disappointed. While I do think there could have been more emphasis on the rockstar events, I liked what we got.

This did have a trope that I have a hard time with: not miscommunication, but NO communication due to secrets and omissions. I spent a great deal of time trying to understand Omen's irrational fears, but it wasn't until the second half that I started to get a grasp on her reactions and responses. I did appreciate that she was self-aware enough to chide herself for not being honest, and once I finally connected with her inner thoughts and reasons, my heart went out to her on a whole other level. The angst that hit about 70% in was perfect.

Nexus is just the sweetest Alpha. I was elated he went to Omen when she needed him most, but it hurt so badly to see him be torn between his pack and his omega.

We got great side characters going on here, and I am desperately hoping we get Bea's story AND Hannah's story someday because I am sucked into their orbits too.

So happy I only have to wait a week to see how Omen and the band find their way back together in part two. This was a great debut!

The connection between Omen and her fated pack starts off all cute and sweet at the start, making this feel like the start of a sugary sweet omegaverse. Don’t let the start fool you though; the angst in this one is very real, and so were the emotions going through my body toward the end of this first book. The cliffhanger is a big one, but luckily book two isn’t too far off.

For once, I went to check out some previously written reviews, and what’s funny to me is how different these characters can resonate with people. I, personally, totally understand Omen’s hesitation in trusting in the men and telling them about her past and her present situation. Nebula though, he definitely struck a nerve in me with some of the things he chooses to do and say. It’s clear this is not everyone’s opinion, but I always like it when opinions between readers can vary this much. It means that these characters speak to their readers; what you hear and how you interpret it though, that’s on you.

I believe my favorite character is Nexus. He’s the one who’s least at fault, and who’s willing to grovel the most. His vibe is awesome, and I love how multidimensional his character is. Even though this story is set in a fictional world, the way Nexus and so many others struggle to find their place in it, resonates with the world we’re all living in. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

First of all, I can't even begin to express how much I love this book.
It combines several of my favorite genres/tropes. Not only do we have omegaverse, but we have MASKED ROCKSTARS!!! ** Insert obsessed scream ** I am a hardcore fan of omegaverse and J.C. gives us a unique touch with this amazing book!! It was an immediate decision from the FIRST PAGE that I needed to get a paperback.
I'm going to warn you now...find a comfortable spot, buckle in and make sure you've got some tissues on standby -- plus a pillow to scream into! J.C. is going to drag you through ALL the emotions. From fear to rage -- and some exciting moments where we're all squealing like someone who's lovestruck.
We're taken on a wild journey with Omen, who has endured a rough life right from the start. I mean, who wouldn't have been dealt a bad hard when they're related to someone who is anti-pack? (Not to mention EXTREME about it.) She's lived in fear of her family & what might happen if she gets close to an unknown group of people.
I absolutely loved watching her grow. The growth from Primordial Covenant was just as amazing! To see their words collide? MIND BLOWING.

I CAN'T WAIT to read the next book. If I were you, I'd go ahead and grab the first and second book at the same time! Absolutely worth it!!!

Amazing job, J.C.! You've got an immediate fan here!!!

You ever stay up past your bed time because you just have to know? Yeah, this is one of those books. I have never been drawn to Omegaverse books on the regular because I am 100% a fangs over fur girlie and most seem to take place in a shifter universe (not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my usual cup-0'-tea) but this was a refreshing AU type take.

The world was wonderfully built using both current time and flashbacks to give relevant information and help in its construction. It is set in an AU of our own world (and timeline) giving a good mix of familiar and non-familiar.

The relationship throughout this book are diverse and build naturally even with a Fated-Mate situation. It is not magically sunshine and rainbows as soon as the connection is discovered for these characters giving a very realistic approach to love. While the relationship between the MMCs and FMC is a slow burn, between the tension, dreams, and pre-existing relationships with the MMCs there is plenty of spice to go around.

I read some of the queens of cliffhangers but J.C. Belenac earned a hard-earned place on that list for me with the ending of this book. I cannot wait to get my hand on book 2 and will gladly give up another night of sleep for it.

Okay this book completely hooked me! If you love secret identities, spicy romance, and a dash of mystery, this book is everything. Omen Powell, an omega photographer, lands her dream gig with the super mysterious band Primordial Covenant—and let’s just say, meeting these smokin' hot, masked musicians turns her whole life upside down.

But it’s not just about the chemistry (though, hello, the tension is REAL). Omen’s running from a dark past, and these guys are hiding their own secrets too. We love a good hidden agenda... but sometimes the lack of communication here is SO frustrating. Like, sit down and have an actual conversation already, guys!

The plot is gripping, and I couldn’t put it down. The characters—Omen and the band members (Nebula, Nexus, Titan & Callisto)—are so complex, and you just know something juicy is coming. Can Omen trust them with her secrets? Will they ever stop dancing around the truth?

But heads up: this one ends on a CLIFFHANGER (why, J.C. Belenac, why? 😩). So if you're like me, you're gonna be dying for book two. Happy ending? We hope, but we need ALL the truth, feelings, and drama to be laid bare.
Can't wait to see how everything unravels in book two!

Where to start?

This is a new series and a new author for me. I'm so pleased that when I saw this book's description I knew I had to read it. Masked rockstars, an omega in hiding, fated mates, and a horrible organization that is determined to tear apart the ABO world.

Sold!

I didn't realize that this book would pull me in so hard. I found myself choking up in places and unable to tear myself away. Each character's individual background story just showed how complicated things can be in a pack and how those things can bring them together or be an obstacle to pull them apart.

This Fate That Guides Us is full of conflict that is both compelling and addicting. Omen is hiding from her extremist family and knows that anyone connected to her could be in danger. And even though she suspects that the band is fated to her, she can't put them in danger. Being on tour with them will be a challenge. Things only get more complex as she learns more about the guys and she is torn about telling them the truth. But Nebula's past might be the thing that destroys everything.

Although with that ending he might never get a chance to find out what could've been.

This was my first time reading a book that's part of the Omegaverse. But I do absolutely love a good Why Choose, so I filled out the form for the ARC to check it out. Add in so many Sleep Token songs, and I really needed to check it out.

This book was a really good introduction for me to Omegaverse books. The whole storyline pulled me in, and I needed to know more of what was happening. Omen, our FMC, knows she has Fate Matched Mates out there but tries to remain hidden from them because of the secrets she's keeping. But when her world crashed around her, I felt it. The last 20% of the book, I think I spent crying, and then it ended on a cliffhanger.

The MMCs are masked rockband who all carry their own burdens and struggles from earlier in life. This book doesn't solely focus on the FMC and her issues. It focuses on each individuals issues, and I really enjoyed the backstory of each character no matter how heartbreaking it was.

💜Why Choose MM content (MMMMF)
🖤Masked Rock Stars
💜Coworkers/On Tour Together
🖤Piercings and Tattoos
💜Hidden Identity
💜Fate matched mates/Soulmates

Fate leads but not always as expected

First off this book was so good.

This is definitely a different take on pack politics. You have one side who believes in your normal pack relationships being good. However, there are groups who believe that anything other than standard relationship dynamic is sinful. They also believe anything outside of a beta is going against nature.

Our FMC grew up in the terrible group, until she presented as an Omega and was forced to flee. So she is basically in witness protection and always afraid he father will find her again.

This is definitely a slow burn since she is denying the pull because of her fear. I absolutely love the band and their outlook on things. Their messages are important and their stories have led them here.

Unfortunately when secrets are being revealed things are not going to be easy. What is fate trying to do?

That freaking ending was brutal... Y'all it was freaking 3am and I need part two because I am not okay. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

That cliffhanger!! I’m so happy I waited until book 2 was released.

A new take on Omegaverse and bonds that I’m super intrigued and excited about.

I was hooked from the first page. The world building, character’s, bonds, all of it. Everything flowed seamlessly.

I absolutely adore Omen, her strength, passion, and tenacity. She has her ups and downs and struggles but who wouldn’t in her place?

I loved seeing all the different relationships within the Primordial Covenant band as a pack. They each have unique relationships and bonds that were so beautiful.

The constant push and pull between Omen and her pack had me on edge the whole time.

All of her men were great even if they were hesitant to start things with her. Nexus was my favorite up until the end. He was all in from the beginning with Omen, his obsession was so sweet and cute. I wish we got more Titan!

The ending?! THIS is a cliffhanger- I’m so happy I wait until app parts of books are released because I can’t imagine having to wait after reading this.

I really should have guessed what the writing would be like from the title, but I kinda hoped it was ironic, you know? Spoiler: it's not ironic. And pretty much every sentence has the same purple tint.

I always feel a bit mean complaining about that kind of writing, where the author really, really wants to show off how poetical they are, because I, too, was 14 once and wrote deep, big-worded nonsense about fate and darkness and the glittery tragedy of someone liking the same band as me, even though they didn't really 'get' them like i did, you know? I made sure to include plenty of confusing flashbacks and 'twists' too, and my MCs were oh so different from other girls.

Happily, I did not publish any of that, so no one wrote mean reviews about it. Unlike this novel.

Honestly if someone wrote me the painfully melodramatic messages she wrote to her mates, my answer would have been "New arm, who dis?"

Wow, this book was good. Really, really good. I was invested in Omen’s story from the minute I picked it up to the very last sentence.

I love the author’s unique take on fated mates in the book. It definitely adds a layer of complexity to alpha and omega pairings that you don’t find in other Omegaverse books.

The characters in this book are complex. Seriously. Omen is an amazing omega that deserves the world after everything she has already been through. Her mates are intense, and incredible. Until they aren’t. Someone needs to smack some sense into Nebula. Stupid alpha!

There are a lot of awesome side characters in this book, too! Here’s hoping Bea and Hannah get their stories told someday.

This book does end on a cliffhanger, and it is one heck of an ending. I cannot wait to see where this story goes !

Fate Needs To Give Communication Pointers 😂

Ok, so there is soooo much lack of communication going on in this story, but I get it lol. When you put yourself in the character's shoes, it makes sense though. And whewww, all of these characters, from our FMC Omen to the pack she wants but thinks she can’t have (Nebula, Nexus, Titan & Callisto) , have things in their past that they’re trying to hide. We all know how well that works out though, don’t we? Once those secrets start seeing the light of day, that lack of communication really comes into play, and everything changes. I can’t wait for book 2 so we can see some good groveling (hopefully 🤞🏼), and so that EVERYONE’S secrets can be brought to the light so that they can all start healing & moving forward with what will hopefully be a spectacular HEA ❤️❤️❤️
