(4.5⭐️) Let me start by saying…the title is very fitting because I definitely forgot to “breathe” during the last 20% of this book 😪 (please check trigger warnings).

I absolutely loved Isaiah and Kailynn as a couple. Their banter was fun, their chemistry was electric, and Isaiah’s “Daddy Dom” energy? Loved it. I also appreciated that we got to see their relationship develop on page through the playfulness, the banter, the dates, and the conversations, so their connection felt natural, even though it moved quickly.

Both MCs were strong and genuinely likable, and the found family aspect (along with the side characters) added so much depth to the story. The plots were engaging, with twists I didn’t see coming. And that last 20%? So intense it felt like watching an action movie. It was emotional, high-stakes, and had me fully locked in trying to see how everything would play out.

The only reason this wasn’t a full 5⭐️ for me is because, while Kailynn and Isaiah’s story feels complete, the larger underworld plot is clearly ongoing. I struggle a bit with storylines that carry across multiple books. I always worry about being left with unanswered questions if the series isn’t completed. There were also a number of editing issues that stood out to me as someone who pays attention to detail.

That said, don’t let that stop you from picking this up. This was a wild, engaging ride. Despite being 655 pages, it never felt slow. Whether it was Kailynn and Isaiah’s love story, the mystery of her past, the family dynamics, or the underworld drama, there was always something pulling me in

This was a good book that I wish more people knew about. If you like underworld secret society plot lines, stalkerish, possesive and obsessive loving men, insta love and a lot of killing and torturing this book is right up your alley. While it is long, 655 pages, it's not a slow read. Things move pretty quickly and it stays interesting. I'd definitely recommend if you like The Consortium series or reads with dark themes in them. Check the triggers, there is child sexual assault and pedophilia mentioned in the book a lot. Overall, it was a good read.

This book!!!!!! 😮‍💨 The title is perfection because I most certainly had to take several breaths while reading this one. What started out as a normal-ish stalker, lover, friend & found-family situation evolved into something so much more than I took heed of when reading the trigger warnings. I had ALL the emotions reading it. It is not for the fate of heart, but the journey (and it is a journey) sucks you in and doesn’t let go until THE END. To be completely honest, the book was a 4.99999 and the only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is because I still had questions. I guess I’ll be sat until the next book. Emersyn has already grabbed my attention with her budding catalog, so I will definitely be going in the next time she drops something.

Sheesh…this book right here….

I have almost no words to describe this book. It reminds me of a certain consortium set of books in that loyalty, intelligence, humor, full of love, dark, deranged…describe the MMC/FMC and their family. The storyline is tight and the characters fleshed out as what motivates them draws the reader in. The action at times felt like I was reading a movie script…very nice! After therapy is done, the author asks at the end if anyone is ready for the next story...ummmm, NO. ‘Cause…Woosah. Per the title, let me breathe, get a drink and impatiently wait for this next installment, thank you very much.

I absolutely loved this book!!! Isaiah did not play about his “Pooh” and I’m glad she got herself together and accepted that he wasn’t going anywhere. The bond the ladies had was also amazing. Looking forward to Bear and Kita’s story!! Oan I hope they take down the Prafecti or whatever it’s called. They pissin me off😑😂

An Amazing Read!!!!

This book was not a slow burn at all!!!! I enjoyed the development of each character. Quite a bit of grammar and typos but the book/story plot kept me intrigued and I completed it!!!! Can’t wait to read more from this author as this was my first book from her. Job well done ma’am!

Outside of the grammar issues (we definitely need more representation in the editing department for black books) I found this book was amazing. I never almost want to cry so much a reading a book it’s crazy and I’m stressing because it don’t look like book 2 is close.
