This book is disappointing because it doesn't offer much more than what you can find in the tutorials on the Bootstrap website itself. I had hoped it would go under the hood and explain the reasons why Bootstrap components and layouts work the way they do, but there is no mention of that. It's strictly a quick guide for people who have no interest in actually learning how something works, but just need the short cut. There is almost no customization shown or strategies explained, so with the sole help of this book, you would essentially be stuck with a site that looks like the Bootstrap default. It's also disappointing that there are many, many pages that are half-blank because of poor layout choices; these pages could have been filled with more explanations or even alternative screenshots of the changing styles. Nope. Very little effort put in.

A nice and simple book about one of the most famous frameworks. This is a guidebook written in the style “how to do this” not “what it is or how we can understand it”. Nevertheless as a simple beginning this book fulfils its function. I do not regret buying it as it helped me to understand some ground rules that didn’t strike me when I was learning online.

Not a bad intro to Bootstrap, but nothing too in-depth here. The biggest plus is that it recommends a few 3rd party plugins I was unaware of. If you're overwhelmed by the official documentation, pick this up and work through the projects. Then maybe go back to the official site and try another read through of it.

I read this book as part of the Safari Books Online collection. I'm still a beginner (at Bootstrap) but, this book has pulled the Bootstrap story together in a way that makes me feel like I'm ready to actually start working with it.
