A new era for the Merc with a Mouth - and a gun, and a sword! CODY ZIGLAR (Futurama, MILES SPIDER-MAN) has a wild ride planned for the regenerating degenerate - beginning by introducing a terrifying new villain who won't stop until he catches Wade Wilson in his Death Grip! But Deadpool has had (well, stolen) the great idea to start his own boutique mercenary agency. A startup is a lot of work though, so Wade asks Taskmaster to run it! Their first assignment? Finding out who this Death Grip is and why he's so interested in Deadpool. Their next problem? Someone has hired Crossbones to hunt them down! A surprising new recruit joins the fun, and that calls for a training montage! And Deadpool's healing factor is tested to its limits. At what point will the Merc's mouth stop growing back?

Deadpool (Wade) and Taskmaster seek to set up a new mercenary agency when Deadpool's first daughter Ellie turns up. Also Wade and co. have to take on alchemist and martial artist Death Grip! A lot funnier than the awful preceding volume, but that's not saying much. Also typical Marvel sees toddler Ellie in just a few years become a fourteen year old! It does feel that previous writer Alyssa Young has lumbered Ziglar with the awful Princess and recent history leaving him limited scope to make a mark in this early volume. Best thing about this season is the fourth wall breaking comments from Wade. A Two Star, 5 out of 12 read.

A decent Deadpool book. I do have a couple a question, when did Deadpool get two daughters? Is there a Deadpool series I missed? Hare the double standard they don't want to age today Peter Parker even Deadpool has a daughter now, a 14 year old at that. Back to this book.

Deadpool has been through an emotional ringer. As much as he body heals, he is broken. Personally, he is staying away from his actual daughter because he believes that is best for her. Whist he is taking his symbiote daughter to work with him. Tried of the middlemen, he started his own business as well as a new enemy/follower.

A couple of decent 4th wall breaks, but nothing really funny in this book. Though with Deadpool's melancholy mood, this is understandable. The action and fights are actually pretty good. It's better than some of the other Deadpool books I have read. The final battle was particularly good. It almost moved the book to 3.5 stars for me. The book finishes with a varient covers gallery.

3.75/5.

An enjoyable continuation from Alyssa Wong’s run. I did have a few issues, primarily that Deadpool and Valentine’s relationship wasn’t explained at all, but maybe Ziglar will elaborate on it in later issues, idk. Still wish I got to know what happened to my non-binary goat tho🥲

There were a couple weird kinks in the art, mainly a few panels where Wade had all white eyes for some reason, with no pupils. But besides that, the art was good enough.

Ziglar probably spammed Deadpool’s ‘I’m in a comic’ fourth wall breaking a bit too much, especially towards the end where almost every page was ‘haha in the next arc’ or ‘in my old issues lol’ which was still a little funny but definitely overused.

Story was still cool tho and had some cool moments, like Ellie being brought back since she hasn’t been around in some more recent Deadpool comics and the Chainsaw Man reference was pretty fire. Overall, a fun enough read.

Deadpool starts up his run again, this time with Cody Ziegler at the helm, and the hilarious violence is back! Teaming up with Taskmaster, and bringing along his daughters Princess (a red symbiote dog) and Ellie (who is revealed to have healing abilities similar to Wade, as well as almost being able to learn moves as quickly as Taskmaster) they take on a cult led by Death Grip, who has absorbed the full power of the Muramasa Blade.
Excited to see what happens as Ellie gets more involved (maybe a Deadpool Jr kind of thing?) and expect the humor and violence to continue.
Recommend. Very much what you'd expect from Deadpool.

A fun start of a new series, with many cameos of people from Deadpool's history and harking to old relationships in a good way. The new villain gives it some freshness as does the inclusion of Deadpool's daughter. The art is a highlight and helps the action flow without sacrificing the emotional beats.

This is like the best Deadpool run I have read in years and I love how fast paced it is and actually feels like its funny and has references to modern stuff and not from the 80s and 90s thank god. Marvel actually put a good and funny writer here and it shows and this book has it all thats needed of a Deadpool back and I love the inclusion of his daughter and it feels like a workplace comedy type of book and its awesome.

The new villain Death's Grip is kinda fun, kinda anime inspired but I love how he is just after death like conquering it and we don't go much deep into his character and maybe that works with a wacky character like Deadpool and maybe he will be back later in the run but he served his purpose I feel with what happens to Wade at the end of this volume.

I love how Ellie is in this too and in Duggan's run she was one of the best parts and here also its like focusing on her and I love how she grows into her powers and plays an active role in this book and her equation with her sister, Princess, was fun too. I haven't read the previous run but it works here really well plus the ending really sets up an interesting new status quo and it will be fun to follow.

Also Taskmaster, finally written right after such a long time feels like and yeah that domain expansion threw me off, and I was like wait did he learn magic lol, but yeah the humor in this book is awesome.

Anyways, long story short, read it, its one of the better books at marvel and I feel like this run is gonna be legendary.

THIS Deadpool series has high hopes...

They've ditched the weird romance with the lady with the needle fingers. Keeping the symbiote dog, 'Princess' that was ...grown from Deadpool after he was experimented on was an interesting twist. The best part that they've kept, though, was highlighting Wade's relationship with his daughter Ellie.

Honestly, you probably could build a series on JUST Deadpool and Ellie and be fine. Marvel needs more. Hence, throwing the kitchen sink at the title (When in doubt use Taskmaster), Also, it feels like Ziglar has to reach into his 'Miles Morales' bag of characters and tricks to get us to the arc.

Not bad. Not great. It IS something different in the Deadpool books.

Bonus: Death Grip reminds me too much of T-Ray (a classic Deadpool story that was supposed to be spooky, engaging, and full of mystical stuff). It all ended up being a wet fart in the history of Deadpool comics. RIP Death Grip. You're the new macguffin.

Bonus Bonus: 4th wall breaking is one thing, but referencing that this is a comic book every 3 pages is a bit too much. Dare I say it? Deadpool may have 'jumped the shark'

A decent start to a new volume of Deadpool, which brings together elements of previous runs that I've really enjoyed, like Taskmaster, Deadpool's daughter Ellie, and Princess the symbiote dog. Wade goes back to his merc business, but soon runs afoul of new villain Death Grip, who's obsessed with killing people (it reads better than it sounds).

The fourth wall breaking is handled decently well, and the amalgam of stuff from Deadpool's history is executed without being a 'HEY REMEMBER THIS'-fest, which I appreciate. It feels like a natural progression for Deadpool's life given what he's been through lately. I'm a bit sad we've lost Valentine Vuong so soon, and Death Grip himself is a little bland aside from his motivation, but overall I'm intrigued to see where we're going next.

Roge Antonio's on art, with Andrea De Vito picking up issue 5 - solid visuals throughout.

Definitely some good things here. Deadpool's banter feels on point, the action scenes are fun and appropriately over the top, and the concept of Deadpool losing his healing factor feels like it could be interesting, even if it's extremely obvious he'll get it back. I'm just not entirely convinced by this little family setup. It's not just Deadpool and his symbiote dog, there's also his daughter. Who now has Deadpool's powers, so we can make the young teen Deadpool's sidekick. That shouldn't be at all damaging to her psyche. And then there's Taskmaster. I love this character, but putting him in the uncle/godfather role in his weird little family feels like an odd choice.

Been a long time since I read a full arc of an ongoing Deadpool series, it’s a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to seeing this story continue and what they do with his daughter and her newfound abilities.

Great art. Great story with Deadpool talking to the reader. It was fun for me, who is a fan of Taskmaster and to see him be a part of the Deadpool world and its craziness .
I think they created a new villain for Deadpool that could easily return to be a problem for Deadpool years to come

Now this is how you do Taskmaster-MCU take notes. All for more female superheroes but the massive change of Taskmaster in the MCU was too much to the bad side. Enjoyed this volume very much and I'm looking forward to the next one.

It's always an interesting start when a new Deadpool series starts, new creative team, new status quo, how much of Wade's own past will still matter? Well this time, for me I missed a run or two on the series so some of this is new to even me, a long time Deadpool fan since 1993.

Now Wade has two daughters, one of whom is a symbiote giant wolf, and his own mercenary business he's running along side his old friend Tony "Taskmaster " Masterr, and he runs up against a magic cult who is obsessed with his healing factor.

I enjoyed this first volume a lot, it feels like a Deadpool book but he's allowed to grow as a character, which is a rare thing in comics but I love it when it happens.
