A protective hero and his best friend’s fearless sister risk everything as desire and danger collide in this heart-pounding romantic mystery from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brittney Sahin.
Hudson Ashford, a former Navy SEAL turned private security expert, has sworn off romance—especially when it comes to his best friend’s sister. Between protecting clients, running his bar, and avoiding the political spotlight as the son of a prominent governor, Hudson keeps his life tightly controlled, leaving no room for complications—or emotions.
Isabella Costa, a headstrong billionaire with a compassionate heart, refuses to give up on the future she dreamed of with the man she thought she could never have. But when a dangerous threat from their past resurfaces, chaos erupts. What begins as a routine undercover operation quickly spirals into murder, trapping them in a nightmare from which there’s no escape.
Forced into close quarters, Hudson and Isabella must confront not only their shared history but also their undeniable attraction. As enemies close in and deadly consequences loom, can they outrun the secrets of their past? Or will the truth they uncover tear them apart forever?
Brittney Sahin began writing at an early age, with the dream to be a published author before the age of 18. Although academic pursuits (and, later, a teaching career) interrupted her aspirations, she never stopped writing—never stopped imagining.
It wasn’t until her students encouraged her to follow her dreams that Brittney said goodbye to Upstate New York in order to start a new adventure in the place she was raised: Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she decided to take her students’ advice and begin to write again.
In 2015, she published her first novel, The Safe Bet. When she is not working on upcoming novels, she spends time with her family. She is a proud mother of two boys and a lover of suspense novels, coffee, and the outdoors.
I listened to the audiobook, and the duet narration was fantastic!
I have mixed feelings about this book. I LOVED the romance and thought the angst and love story between Isabella and Hudson was beautiful. I felt their pain and how they struggled to fight the pull between them. And when they finally surrendered?! It was perfection.
Brittney knows how to build the perfect amount of emotion, steam, and angst in a scene. I couldn't wait until the H and h had their moments alone. I was holding my breath every time they were getting stolen moments together. Their spicy moments were more emotion-driven than solely focused on sex, which I like to feel in my romance novels.
This book reminded me of a game of Clue mixed with Mission Impossible. Instead of focusing on Clue the entire time, however, I wanted more action aka Mission Impossible! The last 20% or so was what I wanted to see for a large percentage of the book. Honestly, without the romance, I wouldn't have continued. I generally like romantic suspense, but besides the love story, I would have abandoned the ship.
Plus, given that Isabella was 32 and Hudson 42, I don't think her brothers should have been so controlling of her. I mean, come on! That's a little too old to allow the overprotective brothers to call the shots, regardless of her upbringing. Sigh. At least they got the brother's "blessing," even though I would have just said, "Sorry guys, I'm going to be who I want to be with!"
I'm glad Isabella and Hudson got their happy ending. Considering what they both went through, with Hudson struggling with the effects of war and Isabella with the death of her sister, they so deserved to find happiness.
“The Art of You” is an absolute masterpiece that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Book three in the Costa Family Series delivers a thrilling blend of heart-pounding action, sizzling chemistry, and an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you breathless.
Hudson Ashford, a former Navy SEAL turned private security expert, is the quintessential protective hero. His commitment to his work and his loyalty to his best friend’s sister, Isabella “Bella” Costa, make him a character you can’t help but fall in love with. He’s tough, self-controlled and determined to avoid romance despite his feelings for Bella.
Isabella is fierce and determined. She’s been holding on to a dream of a future with Hudson for so long, and when danger reappears from their shared past, she won’t let anything stand in her way. Her refusal to give up on Hudson is one of my favorite things. Their past is riddled with tension, secrets, and unresolved emotions, and this book beautifully explores how they navigate their complicated history while fighting for survival.
The attraction between these two is potent and magnetic. Every single page crackles with explosive tension. OMG, the TENSION!!! It is perfectly balanced by the emotional depth of both characters. The plot is full of twists and turns that will keep readers guessing and unable to put the book down.
Sahin expertly crafts a tale of redemption, desire, and courage, where every moment feels earned and every risk is worth taking. This book will have you hooked, heart in your throat, and rooting for the characters to find their way to each other despite the odds. A must-read for fans of romantic suspense!
I feel like I say this with every book that Brittney writes, but THE CAMEOS! They make my heart happy and have me beyond excited for all of the stories to come.

• Thoughts: Okay, let's dive in. Off the bat, this one grabs you! I mean, we can all agree that Brittney is really good at doing this. She can craft the suspense and mystery in her books like no one's business!! And in true Brittney fashion just when you think you figured it out... bam! She pullls the carpet out from under you! I love how creative this author is with her plots and her twists and turns. This book follows Hudson and Isabella, we see them a ton in the previous 2 books, and naturally, they have to get together! 😉 I love Izzy's spunk and drive! Hudson dear night! That man and his mouth! I truly love these individuals. But as a couple, I struggled with them. I feel bad for saying this out loud. But I didn't feel a strong connection with them. Individually, like I stated, they were great. But together, it was just okay. I still enjoyed the story and the plot. Do not get me wrong! Just didn't love the main characters.
NARRATOR THOUGHTS: Ava Lucas and Connor Crais •Duet Narration •Listening at a 1.5 speed. They both did an incredible job! I was actually super stoked that Brittney decided to do a duet narration. There is nothing wrong with dual! However, duet just packs a punch! And really brings a different depth to the story! It was really fun listening to this in duet! Connor and Ava did a great job with this. I loved that Joseph made an appearance in this book as Roman. (Roman's character was inspired by Joseph) he did a good job and honestly he should become a voice actor.
•Recommend: I will always encourage people to read what makes them happy. If it sounds good, read it! My reviews are just that, my opinion. Happy reading, friends.
The Art Of You is the third book in Brittney Sahin’s ‘Costa Family’ series.
Hudson & Izzy are undoubtedly extremely attracted to each other, but that attraction can never be explored. Izzy is the beloved sister of the Costa brothers, overly protected and unattainable. Hudson, (former FBI) works with Izzy’s brothers which precludes any chance of a relationship even if he didn’t believe himself unworthy of her.
On their way home after a seemingly simple op, Hudson & Izzy are involved in a car accident leaving them both in hospital. When it appears that the accident wasn’t as innocent as first thought they find themselves fighting to discover the truth whilst struggling with their own personal demons.
Secrets are revealed and the pair become closer than ever, but when Izzy’s life is on the line Hudson finds himself fighting the ghosts of his past…….
-———————
As ever Ms Sahin keeps us on our toes with this third book in the ‘Costa Family’ series. Fast paced, with heart stopping action and volatile emotional scenes, at times you have to stop and take a breath. Hudson & Izzy’s interactions on the page are powerful and sincere, their relationship playing out through the story perfectly. Hudson’s struggles are dealt with sympathetically and Ms Sahin really humanises him as the story progresses - you can’t help but feel for him in his struggles. The dynamic between the Costa brothers is portrayed perfectly and we get a greater insight into all of their characters, especially Constantine’s.
There are lots of wonderful cameos through this book which was appreciated. It’s always nice to get a taste of how the lives of characters from previous books have progressed. Mya’s sister Adeline whom we met briefly in ‘The Wrecked One’ appears in TAOY and we learn more about her which I hope might lead to her getting her own book at some point in the future. There are also appearances from several other Falcon Fall & Stealth Ops characters. I’m not ashamed to admit my heart LITERALLY missed a beat or two when a certain all time favourite character from Echo team appears *fans face* I defy you not to get invested.
This third book in the Costa Family series is in my opinion is easily the best yet. Whilst it can be read as a stand alone, you will get a more rounded view of the characters and their motivation if you read the first two books in the series - ‘Let Me Love You’ and ‘Not Mine To Keep’. I read an arc copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
The Art Of You includes:
🖼️ Plenty of action 🖼️ Suspense 🖼️ Intriguing secrets 🖼️ Spicy action 🔥🔥🔥 🖼️ Age gap 🖼️ Flawed MMC 🖼️ Feisty & stubborn MFC
As a big Brittney Sahin fan, I’ve read all of her published books. I love her writing and her ability to tell a detailed story with complex characters. She has a real knack for connecting other series within this entire world she’s created.
All that said, unfortunately this book just didn’t do it for me. I felt the characters were inconsistent and the pacing felt off. I was so excited for Hudson and Isabella’s story after getting a peek at them in the previous book, but I just didn’t pick up on the chemistry and things ended up feeling forced.
This one was more interconnected than most, and with all the references to the other books, I had a harder time keeping track.
Something I find a bit off-putting in trad pub books is the emphasis on verbal consent. This may be a controversial opinion (though I’ve spoken with many women who find the same issue with it), but I think that consent can often be given with non-verbal cues. So when we are mid-spice scene, and the MMC stops to say “is this okay, may I, are you sure, I need to hear it, use your words,” it pulls me out of the moment. I’m sure this is at the hand of the pub houses and their need to be PC. I just hate that it’s affecting our author’s stories.
The Costa Family series continues with the next Costa sibling Isabella and Hudson. These two have been secretly in love with each other for years and many obstacles stood in their way and neither was willing to make a move. With three overprotective brothers, dating is hard especially when the man you really want is your brother’s best friend and your co-worker. All that changes when a routine op takes an almost tragic turn and the entire team is thrust into a plot that is tied to the past and more complicated that they can even know. Hudson is also forced to confront his past and also the simmering attraction he has with Bella. Their love story unfolds amidst the complicated plot that threatens the entire Costa family. The plot simmers as their relationship solidifies and then explodes on the page.
This story hits you out of nowhere. I was reading before bed, enjoying the slow burn, and then the story took off and I realized it was 2:30am when I came up for air. This story sneaks up on you and then sprints to the end and once I hit that point, there was no putting it down and respecting my bedtime. Brittney teases tendrils of the plot through two thirds of the book then it all comes together with a storyline you won’t see coming. This was a fantastic read. The romance simmers and slow burns with steamy teases the whole time and I couldn’t wait for Hudson and Bella to get together. But with her overprotective brothers, in particular Constantine, trying to keep her “safe” from Hudson, it’s no wonder it took them ages to get together. I really loved that all three of the Costa men featured heavily in this story and I REALLY need Constantine’s story now. Plus there were some fun cameos from characters in previous series. Overall this age gap, forbidden, brother’s best friend, slow burn romance was a fantastic read in the Costa series, one of my favorite series. The plot surprised me which always makes for an enjoyable read and the romance was deeply satisfying.
I have been waiting for Hudson and Bella’s story and boy was it worth the wait!! Bella is the youngest of the Costa siblings. She has been fiercely protected by her older brothers since her sister Bianca was killed years ago. Hudson is her oldest brother Constantine’s best friend, acting like another protector in her life. This story of how that line got blurred is so wonderfully told by Brittney Sahin!
Hudson and Bella’s love story is full of twists and turns, you think you know who the “bad guy” is just to have that rug pulled out from under you! I was guessing throughout the entire book! I loved how suspenseful this story was. I enjoyed watching their love story build throughout it as well.
I cannot wait for the next story in the Costa family saga! Thank you for another beautifully brilliant story Brittney!
“Maybe it’s possible I can help Hudson the way you helped my brother.” “What do you mean?” she asked softly. “Revive his heart so he can love again.” “Not possible.” Callie shook her head, then held up her hand between us. “Hudson’s heart isn’t dead. You can tell in the way that man looks at you. You’re the definition of a masterpiece in his eyes. You’re like livin’ art to him.” Her soft Southern accent flowed through her words. “I mean, really. The man has it bad for you.”
OH MY GOD!! Readers are going to freakin FLIPPP with that you did!! Adding everyone’s favorite characters to the story… DEAD! I freakin squeaked and my husband gave me the weirdest look lol!! The way I was able to get the ick about you know who JUST FROM THE FIRST INTERACTION, BRILLIANT! Bella and Hudson’s story was beautiful. Their love for each other… swoon! The spice was amazing too. I very much enjoyed that there was no sneaking around behind the brothers and them giving Hudson his blessing so early. So different than your typical “brothers best friend” in the best way!! As always the connections and intricate details you add to your story’s blows me out of the water and I have nothing but amazing things to say about this story!! I highlighted so many amazing quotes and swoony moments, I can’t wait to reread it already!!
ALSO, WHO IS CONSTANTINE BEING PAIRED UP WITH?!? I NEED TO KNOW SO I CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT LADY!!
“Does that mean you’ve decided I’m worth the risk? She was worth it all. Living. Dying. And everything in between. That wasn’t the issue.”
The Costa boys… how on earth am I supposed to close up this series with book #4 next. I don’t want it to end. Completely obsessed with Hudson and his integration within the Costa Family as well as his love for Bella. There was a LOT of action in this book compared to the other two and a lot of moving pieces so I’m that I was able to have no distractions to finish it today. Again.. highly highly highly recommend this series to anyone
I just don’t think I can get enough of the Costa’s. Hudson and Bella’s story was everything. From them forming a friendship over 7 years, to finally kissing, and then happily ever after. You could feel how much Bella and Hudson really loved each other even without saying it. Damn I love how Brittney wove the story together all the way from Bianca’s murder to present day. It tied the story together so well! Of course love seeing cameos of members of Falcon Falls and Stealth Ops. I straight up gobbled this book. Thank you Brittney!!!
Wow, what a book! Britney Sahin never ceases to amaze me with her talent for telling stories that draw readers in. The Art of You is a fast paced, thrill a minute book that is full of surprises, sadness, desire and badassery!!!!
Both Hudson and Bella have experienced tragedies that have significantly impacted them. Hudson, while he was embedded with his former SEAL Team and Bella because of the murder of her sister Bianca. The question is can they overcome what has happened in the past to find their HEA?
Book three in the Costa Family Series, this is Isabella and Hudson’s story.
Bella is the youngest Costa, and with older brothers, who are overprotective, making dating hard, and this is just one obstacle. The next is Hudson is best friends with her brother, and a co-worker. Still, she has been secretly in love with Hudson for years. Does she need another overbearing male in her life?
This is a Brittney Sahin story, so expect twists and turns, plenty of suspense, and plenty of spice. Bella and Hudson’s love story is sprinkled with action, mystery, and humor. Her characters are believable, and storylines addicting, and this one checks all those boxes. I am excited to see where we go next.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
I had been anxiously awaiting Hudson and Izzy’s story since the first book in the Costa series, and it’s finally here!!
Hudson Ashford is Constantine Costa’s best friend, and a trusted family friend that Izzy (or Bella, as only Hudson calls her) has known for many years. She is beautiful, brave, talented, kind, and has the worst taste in men. It’s not until a recent op that truly opened her eyes to Hudson that she wondered “what if?”
Hudson is ex military, the Governor’s son, and has zero interest in dating. He offers one night to women and moves along with his daily life in private security with the Costa’s, along with running his bar in NYC. But he can’t get Bella off his mind lately. He can’t control his thoughts of “more.” This girl has been in his life since he was a teenager, and suddenly he can’t look away. He vows to keep his distance, no matter the temptation, but the kiss he shared with Bella for the sake of an op has opened his eyes, and now she’s the only one he wants.
It’s not until Bella receives a mysterious photo from her past that triggers a dangerous chain of events. Someone is targeting her…or are they targeting Hudson? The team races to unscramble a complicated mystery and to understand the “why,” all the while Hudson’s protective streak towards Bella goes into overdrive. He can’t lose her and can no longer resist her. Bella has waited for Hudson, never truly believing she can have him(10yr age gap, crazy overprotective brothers), and in the fight for their lives, they finally give in to each other.
I adore Brittney Sahin. I have read all of her books, and get swept up in each series. She creates a wonderful world full of characters you root so hard for, and her worlds collide every now and then by interconnecting beloved past characters into her new series. We see glimpses of the Falcon Falls team, among others in this story, and I love keeping up with these guys/girls while being introduced to a new realm of characters. The twist at the end that unlocks the mystery, combined with all the romantic angst(🔥🔥🔥), made The Art of You so satisfying. Can’t wait for Constantine’s book next!!!!!
This book features a 42-year-old male lead who, despite being a highly trained special warfare operator, is inexplicably terrified of pursuing his best friend’s sister. I mean, sure, no one ever said that a lifetime of saving the world prepares you for a little romance, right? For over 200 pages, he tortures himself with self-doubt about the woman he clearly loves—like a 20-year-old stuck in a never-ending “should I or shouldn’t I?” loop. Seriously, dude, you’re 42. Get it together.
Then there’s the female lead, who, at 32, has dated every idiot under the sun in a misguided attempt to move on from the guy who’s clearly been the one all along. The level of emotional self-sabotage is so high, it practically needs its own zip code. And yet, the plot doesn’t give her much more than the role of “the woman being perpetually cock-blocked by her overprotective brothers”—at 32, no less. I guess brotherly love knows no age limits.
As for the thrilling revenge plot about the wrongful murder of her sister’s killers? Predictable. Female lead gets captured, male lead saves the day—yawn. If you’ve read a thriller before, you’ll see this one coming from a mile away.
While the writing itself is solid, the repetitive themes and tired tropes make this book feel like a long exercise in eye-rolling. If you’re looking for fresh and engaging romance with a side of thrilling plot twists, you might want to look elsewhere. This one feels more like a 42-year-old man’s midlife crisis…with a sprinkle of predictable vengeance.
I loved getting to finally learn about Hudson’s story. I knew from the other books that he was carrying so much with him that he didn’t need to be carrying. I loved seeing him and Izzy’s relationship change over the three books and get to where this book ends. The only thing that was hard for me with this book verses the other two in the series is that there was a lot of storyline to follow and at times I had to re-read parts to make sure that I was following correctly. Great book though and I can’t wait to read Constantine’s story next!
Move over Enzo and Alessandro, Hudson has entered the book !! I just don’t where Brittney gets the words from when she writes her books but I’m so glad that she does. Hudson and Bella’s story has everything that I expect from Brittney, laughter, suspense, mystery, action and more action if you get what I mean 😉. She has such away of making these big alpha guys become teddy bears and Hudson is no exception when it comes to his best friends little sister who he’s loved for years. But because of the bro code he’s never done anything about it until an accident happens on this OP. With a little help from some old and new friends Hudson and the Costa brothers always get there guy. Another must read by Brittney. Can’t wait to see who turns Constantine from a growly bear into a teddy bear. Hope you all enjoy the book as much as I did😊.
I’m not normally into fictional drama, action suspense, romance books, but this book had me hooked. The love interests were equally craved and their subconscious and internal dialogue was relatable and anticipated. I found myself wondering, oh my what is he thinking about her?! And vice versa. Highly recommend, very spicy! Which is also out of my comfort zone however with this book I did not seem to mind the romance.
Oh. My. God. The last 70ish pages had my heart racing!! I am obsessed with the costa family and of course Bella and Hudson was just as amazing as the others. I do have to say there were sooo many moving parts that I had to stop and remember who was who, but was shocked on how the puzzle pieces just came together!!! I will say this again I love the costas!
This story it was both slow burn and forbidden with some drama and suspense. Loved it from the beginning to the end. Hudson and Bella had it all love and slow burn and forbidden moments.. the ending had me in all my feels.
Omg! I absolutely love this family. The author does a wonderful job of developing the characters and the dynamics between them in an amazing way. I love love love the best friends to lovers trope. One of my faves as I believe these make the strongest couples.
I never feel I have the appropriate words to express how good the books Brittney Sahin writes are but I’ll try.
OMG I could not put this book down and I’m in love with Hudson and I want one of him for my very own. This book is so full of angst and longing it made me ache. The feelings jump off the page and grab you I actually caught myself squeezing my thighs together when Hudson growled. He is so torn and Bella is so sure of him and the two of them that you just know they are meant to be.
I just know each story Brittney writes gets better and better . If you haven’t read the Costas story get to it .
This book is really a two and a half, slow, and repetitive. Also, there were a lot of side characters I had to remember because they were brought up several times. Not enough romance or intimacy for me. There was a lot of strategizing about an upcoming Op... to much of that. I did like that there were no loose ends. The ending was romantic, but not enough for me.
Hudson and Izzy is an another amazing and creative love. This time we get to watch yet another Costa get an HEA. This time it’s the remaining sister but somehow the murder of their other sister crops up again. Hudson has wanted Izzy and has lover her secretly as she was forbidden. She is the baby sister of his best friend. He forced himself to not go there but after a singular kiss while undercover, he’s having a harder time moving past. Izzy sees him as a playboy friend of her brothers but is staying to potentially different side and when things stay to go crazy, Hudson takes Izzy away to keep her safe but his control finally snaps and the rest is just a wild ride from there. Brittney is able to once a agin deliver a creative and unique story line. The alpha protective streak within Hudson is strong and he isn’t afraid to show it.
I thought it would be hard to beat how bad the last book in the series was, but I was wrong. I was so looking forward to Hudson’s book…what a disappointment.
I was so annoyed, I had to wait 3 days to write this review. Sahin used to be a favorite, but lately all she delivers are these helpless, cream puff FMCs who have little else to offer than a big mouth and an unjustified attitude. Oh, but of course they’re hot, so all is good.
So this FMC can’t even stand on her own two feet. Literally. The woman is falling all the time. And she needs her teddy bear in a critical situation that should involve adulting. She’s 28 going on 14. How is this not cringey? She’s embarrassingly inept and can’t function without her brothers or the MMC. Just a spoiled, coddled princess with no concept of the real world and no ability to find her way out of a paper bag. There is literally nothing special about her except being born into a wealthy family. That’s pretty much it.
And, once again, we have what should have been a great, alpha protector MMC, reduced to an embarrassing simp. He is SO OVERDONE. I couldn’t stand him by the end. The being led around by his nose and following her around like a lost puppy and having to do everything except wipe her nose…yeah…ruined the character.
Can we please go back to actual strong, independent, SMART FMCs, Ms. Sahin and grow out of your princess phase???
2 disappointing stars. What happened here?!? Hudson lost his mojo in this book. He wasn’t portrayed as a strong character, but of course it took him years to be ok dating Izzy. Izzy was portrayed to be a teenager when she was 30ish. This book did the characters dirty. It didn’t work. Plus, I couldn’t stay engaged enough to know what was happening with the kidnappings or shootings, or other kidnappings? It was too much.
Welcome back to the Costa family! This was an ARC book and audible. Connor Crais was amazing, and I really enjoyed Joseph Cannata's parts as well. All of Brittney's books are so well written, and her characters are always so well developed. The plots are always great, and keep you pulled in. I always love the way Britteny brings back old friends, and we get caught up on what's going on in their lives. I felt like you could feel the connection between Bella and Hudson, maybe because they had a real past friendship that helped make their romance so much deeper. My heart does ache every time they mention Bella's sister. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no drama between Hudson and the brothgers. They knew he was a great man who would treat her well. Another really good Brittney book.
Izzy (Bella) and Hudson!! Finally!! I have been in love with Bella and Hudson since they were first introduced to us in ‘Let Me Love You’ and boy were they worth the wait. Their banter and friendship drew me in from day one, but most of all it was looking from the outside in knowing how much they loved each other and just needed the ability to get past their insecurities to let each other in. There was just enough heat (2.5 peppers) that it didn’t over shadow their story but still made their connection fire.
As always Brittney blew my mind with how she once again tied in past characters that completed the story without taking over it. Even if you haven’t read her previous books, you would love the side characters. Her ability to throw us for a loop when it comes to “who done it” frustrates me, in a good way, because I can never guess who the bad guy is, ever!
I had the privilege of reading ‘The Art of You’ as an ARC but could not wait to get my ears plugged into the audio! Wow! Because Brittney’s books aren’t thrilling, sexy and emotional enough she always has the best narrators to bring her characters to life. Connor Crais, Ava Lucas and even the pleasant guest appearance of Joseph Cannata as our beloved Roman just made everything even more unforgettable. When I read the ARC before knowing the narrator’s Connor was exactly who I could hear in my head for Hudson and Ava nailed Bella’s personality.

ARC review. I love the Costa family, including Hudson who is most definitely a member of this family. All of them were broken by Bianca's death and the aftermath of it. Hudson is also dealing with years of guilt from his last military op. He loves Izzy/Bella but does not believe he deserves her or can be what she needs. She has other ideas and is determined to find a way under his defenses. Unfortunately, bad guys, terrorists, a horrible father, a grumpy brother, and an irritating FBI agent are all standing in the way of their happily ever after. The mystery has the Costas, the FBI, their friends at Falcon and on Echo Team baffled and was quite an unexpected twist. Lots of chemistry, flirting and tension between Hudson and Izzy before they finally give in to each other and once Hudson starts sharing his feelings, we find he is very good at it. Lots of action and adventure as they work to solve the mystery and take out the bad guys as well. Another great story!!
