September is a love letter to the time of year that marks the passage of seasons; the passage of time and years; and the passage of people into and out of our lives. September is from the collection of short stories, Pool of Souls and Other Stories by award-winning Iowa Writers Workshop alumni, Daniel J Klein.
Daniel Klein's writing education features Graduate Fiction at the Iowa Writers Workshop with the late James McPherson, along with other writing programs across the country. In his early years as a writer, Klein minored in Poetry with Iowa alumni Rush Rankin at the Kansas City Art Institute and then elsewhere with other Iowa graduates. His short stories have won New Letters Literary Awards and have placed in various short story competitions.
Most recently, Daniel's short story, Sonata in Three Notch, Alabama was a finalist in the Vocal Media, Vocal+ Fiction Awards. Sonata was also published by Prometheus Dreaming Literary Journal. Klein's screenplay, A Yellowstone Christmas was recently a semi-finalist in the Final Draft Big Break screenplay competition in Los Angeles, where he got his start in Hollywood as a script reader for several production companies. Daniel was fortunate to be a teaching associate of the late Writers Guild-winner Ken Rotcop and his Professional Writer's Workshop and has taught workshops at Screenwriting Expo. He once worked for the circus.
