SAVED BY MY ALIEN HUSBAND is a sci-fi novel set in the last seven days humans inhabit Earth, made for readers craving their next spicy novel with a fiercely possessive alien prince. This story is a "fast burn" romance with multiple spice scenes and dystopian themes.
"Let go of my wife if you want your species to survive."
DELPHINE: Earth is dying, and the only bright spot in my life is not real—an irresistibly gorgeous alien prince who claims he’s coming for me. My dreams take me to his ship, where his presence feels as vivid as the heartbeat he ignites in me.
In the real world, it couldn't be farther from the truth. Me, saved by an alien prince? No chance. My mandated therapist says he’s just a fantasy created by my mind to avoid the vulnerability of intimacy, and that I have an unhealthy obsession with cats. She may have a point… after all, he does have a tail and a textured tongue.
But when his spaceship appears outside our protected dome, I realize it's all true, and my life is about to get a lot bigger than anyone ever expected it would be.
HAVEN: Delphine may not believe I’m real, but that won't stop me from loving her. The Eldrin were on a mission to save our genetic ancestors—the cats—from extinction, when her mind bonded with mine across the stars.
The moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she would be my princess.
Now, I’ll save the human race—for her. Or at least, the humans she thinks are worth the effort.
Featured tropes in Saved By My Alien Husband: new adult romance, "touch her and die," possessive alien hero, knotting, unique alien anatomy, high spice, and dystopian influences.

A big shout out and thank you to the author for providing me with a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review!
What I expected when I walked into Saved by my Alien Husband was just a sweet bite of quick escape. What I got was certainly that but so much more. To my utter surprise the book had many elements of a higher fantasy than I would’ve expected.
A dual POV narration greatly aids the storytelling, presenting the lives of the two protagonists and highlighting their different worlds, experiences and beliefs. When their worlds collide, it was additionally interesting to see their unique reactions to it plus the cultural differences between them and how they find middle ground with one another on it.
The plot is quite simple, but the many elements woven into the story add several layers of complexity to it. From classism, dystopian elements, politics, to the more emotional aspects of the story—like the way the female protagonist associates to her world and how she grows from possessing a smaller worldview to widening it to include others—were all certainly interesting to watch unfold. To a certain extent the power balance and plays remain but at least they shift towards more just characters.
The world building was surprisingly a big part of this book. I think most of us walk into books about aliens or ones with animated covers (is that the right name for it?) expecting a fluffy, fun read. Except this book had some heartbreaking themes, a wider world with lots of details and characters that required introductions and plot resolutions. I was pleasantly surprised! But I do know it can come as an unexpected revelation to some, so definitely do walk in aware that the story is more than just the romance. There are several sub-plots that hold equal importance, in my opinion.
The pace was relatively even, but depending on which aspect of the theme of the book you enjoy you might feel that that portion of the story progresses faster. For me, personally, I experienced a lag in the intermediary portion of the book.
Four stars! As always check trigger warnings before reading as some of the themes in this book may be difficult for some. Happy reading!
The cover may suggest a cutesy rom com but it is definitely not that. This dystopian alien/human romance is full of trials to overcome, differences to explore and the possibilities of love somewhere never before considered.
I was truly not expecting to fall so in love with an alien! Haven was so sweet, protecting, and I just loved him. He felt like a comfort during the whole book, and that grabbed my attention from the get go! I loved the story line, the cats, the aliens, the way everything was just written! I do wish I had more info of how the other characters were in the epilogue, but I can’t complain one bit about the book! I would recommend!!
I don’t know if I would have ever picked up this book with my own free will, but because it was a Book Club read of course I wanted to read it and I’m so glad I did! I was oddly intrigued with the book, and it made me want to keep reading! It was so easy to read, and was a quick read which was refreshing
**Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC; all opinions are my own.**
3.75-4 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶
First off, this is a pretty quick, cute, alien romance. Things start off really spicy and stay that way. I'm hoping that this is the first in a series because I have a lot of questions!
I, personally, felt like this was missing a little something but I can't quite put my name on what it is, exactly. It was cute, though! And it has a lot of promise.
If you like: ▪︎cats ▪︎psychic dreams ▪︎tail play ▪︎alien knots ▪︎world ending Then you should give this one a shot!
Not what I expected at all, but that's not a bad thing. I thought this was just going to be your average cute rom-com, but it was so much more than that!! I loved the plot and the characters so much, I like that there was spice but it wasn't the main focus of the book. Absolutely loved it, and it was a pretty quick read for me.
I received a digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A fun alien x human romance with an actual plot to give it some backbone.
The author clearly thought out the lore concerning the alien world and the human world which was well done. Aliens trying to save cats everywhere, ingenious.
A romantic relationship 10 years in the making, there’s no calling this one instalove! Our MCs both respect each other’s boundaries and pasts and make for a healthy relationship.
A very fun and enjoyable romcom! I have to say at first I was skeptical about an alien/human romance but I throughly enjoyed reading it. I was also nervous I wasn’t going to like the FMC but Delphine grew on me. There was a lot of progression of how some of these characters went from unlikeable to likeable.
Another great surprise: the amount of smut in this book! Can’t say I’ve ever been into alien smut but this may have changed my mind (we listen and we don’t judge).
Definitely interested in trying another book by this author!

This book is a quirky, romantic, and fun alien romance set on a dystopian Earth, where 23 year old Delphine has spent a decade dreaming of an alien man who promises to save her from her bleak, doomed life. Everyone tells her she’s imagining things, but then the Eldrin aliens actually arrive, and her not so imaginary soulmate, Haven, makes true on his word, rescuing her…along with the rest of humanity, reluctantly.
Haven originally planned on coming to Earth to save his species’ genetic ancestors, cats, but everything changed when he mind bonded with Delphine ten years before at the start of his journey through the stars. Their connection has been building for years, and unbeknownst to her, he’s been psychically communicating with her beloved cat, Parvati, to keep an eye on her.
I really enjoyed the world building and Earth’s strict Saviour or Server class system. The writing is simple at times, quirky, with some odd reactions from characters, but honestly, the whole book is weird in the best way. There isn’t much conflict or resolution within the story due to the focus on the romance and spice, but it's still a fast paced, easy read that's sure to fulfill your alien rescue/abduction dreams.
Speaking of the romance, it was really cute and I loved how they were together. Haven is protective, possessive and practically worships Delphine. Though Delphine has slept with other people, she only does it as a means of escaping, and heavily relies on going to sleep just to see Haven. Their bond is pretty instantaneous, so when they actually meet it's like we're meeting then halfway through their romance. The spice was definitely interesting, as you'd expect, with Haven's alien biology adding to the strangeness (hello, knotting and tail).
The book wraps up pretty quickly, leaving us feeling fulfilled and feeling happy with the delightful ending and super adorable epilogue. Overall, this was such a quirky, lighthearted, easy read that I would recommend!
To start off, I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.
I very much enjoyed the adventure this book took me on, and I especially loved the “end of the world” type feel that this book gave with the countdown of days on earth. When our main characters first met and throughout the beginning of their relationship, I loved how they communicated through their dreams! Because how cool is THAT?! I just wish that part of the book was a little longer and that was elaborated on a bit more because I found that part of the book very fun.. and steamy.
I really loved their relationship throughout the story, but I feel like we needed some more personal intimacy when they first met in person. It seemed to be very rushed so when they got married, I was like “Oh… Well, that was fast..”. To me, it would have made more sense if maybe we had more stories about them communicating or dating in Delphine’s dreams, or they had waited a little longer to get married. Like maybe get to know each other in person some more. The overprotectiveness almost seemed overkill to me because I feel we needed more relationship build up.
It did get a little boring there in the middle, so I was happy that we had some more thrill in the story once we learned that the other domes were failing. That made it a lot more interesting, so I wanted to continue reading.
I thought the ending was very sweet and it captured the humans’ emotions very well. It was nice to see how their lives ended up10 years later. I love to see the happy ending!
Overall, I would give this book a 3/5. I would have absolutely loved to see more of the communications they had in their dreams. We could have had a few more steamy scenes with that. That would have probably made me feel better about them getting married so quickly. I did like this story though and it was a very interesting concept, and I love the end of the world vibe it gave. We had such an awesome hero in Haven.
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, and I’m so glad I did—it was a fun read! I’d rate it 3.5/5 stars overall and 4/5 for spice. Maybe I just haven’t come across many yet, but I really wish there were more sci-fi romances like this. I once read that sci-fi is just fantasy with science instead of magic, and that definitely rings true here.
The story follows a 23-year-old FMC living in a dystopian future where Earth’s population has dwindled to just a few thousand people. Since she was 13, she’s had recurring dreams of the same alien (the MMC, also around 13 at the time). Over the course of ten years, they build a deep, non-romantic relationship through these dreams, with the MMC repeatedly telling her that he’s on his way. Then, one day, he actually shows up to save the her, all the cats, and, somewhat reluctantly, the remaining humans.
Beyond the romance, the FMC also grapples with feelings of being an outcast and attachment issues related to her parents. The book does a great job of showing her growth, particularly as she begins to understand that even those who slighted her were coping with their own trauma. While it’s an enjoyable read, it carries emotional weight as well.
My main critique is that the story jumps too quickly from the dream connection to their real-life meeting. I didn’t quite feel the full impact of their relationship’s depth—it’s there, but I wanted a bit more angst or buildup, maybe even a stronger friends-to-lovers arc. As it stands, we don’t get to experience much of the “friends” part before the romance kicks in.
That said, it kept me entertained, and I’d definitely read more from this author—especially if more books are set in this world!
This is a quick and spicy alien romance which was way spicier than what I was expecting from the cover. The romance in the book is very fast paced but isn’t insta-love as they have been communicating in their dreams for 10 years even if Delphine just thought he was her imaginary friend. That being said, I would’ve liked some more intimacy when they met in person before going straight to getting married. I would’ve loved to see more of the worldbuilding. It’s set in the future where climate change has wrecked earth so much that there are only a handful of groups of humans in remote places around the globe due to constant tornadoes, unpredictable solar flares and unstable temperatures. I did pick this book just because of the cats on the cover and I loved that they’re telepathic and are the genetic ancestors of Haven and the other Eldrin aliens. My one criticism is that I wished the epilogue wasn’t ten years later. Although it was really cure, I would’ve loved a second book or seeing more of the two of them together while they travel through the universe and continue trying to save humans and cats. This was the first book I read from this author and I will definitely be reading more in the future.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, the author and Aria James Publishing for providing me with an arc in return for a voluntary review. All thoughts expressed here are my own. A paperback version with pink sprayed edges is available exclusively from ariajamespublishing.com Tropes: new adult romance, "touch her and die," possessive alien hero, knotting, unique alien anatomy, high spice, HEA, and dystopian influences.
The cover made me imagine this would be a sweet light hearted read and while it had its moments it is still about the end of Earth. The end of humanity and what happened to those lucky enough to still be alive. A series of domes is all that’s left and one of them is where we meet Delphine.
She’s been having dreams of an alien prince who tells her he is coming to rescue her but she thinks he’s a figment of her imagination. Something she thought up to help herself get through her loneliness. Come to find out he truly is an alien prince and when she needs him most he finally arrives to save not only her but all of the humans left on earth.
Oh and the cats.
This was pretty cute! I got access to a copy on NetGalley and started it immediately! The story was easy to follow and the character development was pretty great. It did have its darker moments, as all dystopian worlds do.
Delphine starts out pretty negative, rightfully so she’s been dealt a pretty crappy hand, but she evolves to be selfless and kind regardless. And Haven was determined to spoil and love her. He said she would never have another lonely day and he absolutely meant it. And we love a male with a tail, a knot, and a deep desire to give his wife orgasms and respect.
Delphine has spent ten years dreaming about an alien man who promises to save her. Everyone thinks she’s crazy—until the Eldrin aliens actually show up, and her very real soulmate, Haven, comes to rescue her (and humanity, though he’s not thrilled about that part). He originally came to Earth to save cats, but bonding with Delphine changed everything.
I loved the world-building, especially the whole Saviour vs. Server Class system. The writing is a little quirky, some reactions felt off, but honestly? The whole book is weird in the best way. There’s not a ton of conflict since it’s mostly about the romance and spice, but it’s fast-paced and super easy to read.
Haven worships Delphine, and their relationship has been building for a decade—so no instalove here. Also, aliens coming to save cats? Incredible.
4 stars
Weird, fun, and full of heart. Definitely worth a read!
✨I received a digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review✨
This book was absolutely adorable! I first came across this author on TikTok and later requested this book through NetGalley and I have to say this is going in as one of my favorites!
As someone who doesn't read Sci-Fi much, I wasn't too sure on what I was expecting. If you know me you probably know I have been in one of the worst on again, off again reading slumps. Yet today when I picked this book up I did not want to put it down. I was absolutely obsessed with Delphine and Haven. From Delphine's personal experiences and relatability for me, to the love shown in the pages I was hooked. The world building was absolutely PHENOMENAL!
Something I get nervous about when reading Sci-Fi or fantasy is the introduction of non-human characters and their descriptions. Rachel wrote amazing descriptions of all of these characters. I was able to fully envision and see everyone clearly. I will give a side note that this was really present in the spicy scenes as well! The development and pacing felt very well placed. This is a pretty fast paced read with lots of huge interesting changes!
This book might be the coziest end-of-the-world story I’ve ever read. Humans on Earth live in domes with a strange caste system, while the human FMC has been having encounters in her dreams with a sexy alien.
The romance isn’t quite insta-love since they’ve technically known each other for a long time, she just believed he was a figment of her imagination. They’re automatically obsessed with each other. He’s very dominant and protective, while she’s spunky and independent.
There is a sexual encounter between the FMC and a human, which flirts with cheating vibes, though the MMC is aware of her ongoing arrangement before he arrived. Personally I found it to be an odd addition to the plot, and it may be off putting for some readers.
Overall, this is a fun dystopian sci-fi alien romance with the potential to launch a series.
Spice: 5/5 Plot: 4/5 Writing: 4/5 My Enjoyment: 4/5
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Heads up: I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book (thank you to NetGalley and Aria James Publishing).
3.5 stars rounded up
Umm how was I supposed to just pass by a cover on NetGalley that featured an alien with what looked to be a prehensile tail (if you know you know, and if you don’t… well, I will not be elaborating further) *and* cats with space helmets on???
Ok, so this book was generally fast-paced and pretty silly (in the good way), despite the end-of-the-world situation.
I will say, though, that since Haven and Delphine already know each other by the time they meet irl—and they’re already in love and married, thanks to Haven’s peoples’ customs—there’s a lack of romantic tension in this story, to the point that it doesn’t feel like a genre romance at times, so much as it feels like a super cozy apocalyptic politics story with spice and a romance subplot. And because of that, the spice felt like it had less payoff because their relationship was a given from the start.
Even so, I had a good time. I also wish my cat could communicate with me like Delphine's can her.
All right - I read this because alien smut. And I really wanted to like it because it just seemed like major “my wife” fun energy.
Based on the synopsis, I wasn’t expecting this to make much sense but I found this to read more like 9th grade fan fiction (ninth grade in that at 55% of the way in I’ve no idea about who these characters really are or why they’re in love, it seemed like a mix of sex and “these people treated my wife badly and I’m going to have my father, the king, do something about it” immature revengey - I appreciate the author’s obvious care for her stories but if I’m going to read fan fiction I need more character growth/development and I also need characters to be more than the flimsy, one dimensional like they are here. And the smut was…for me, more awkward than hot.
Other readers may find this to be wonderful; unfortunately, I was not that reader.
Thank you to Aria James Publishing and NetGalley for the DRC
Thank you NetGalley & the author Rachel H. Drake for the early access of Saved by my Alien Husband
🐈 Touch her and die 🐈 Knotting 🐈 Dual POV 🐈 Alien x Human 🐈 Cats!! 🐈 End of the world
Synopsis: 💫Delphine, knowing the world is about to end in about 10 years, finds solace in her dreams, where she meets her alien prince, Haven. Despite her therapist’s insistence that her visions are mere figments of her imagination, Haven’s spaceship unexpectedly arrives on a mission to rescue his cat ancestors. This unexpected event forever changes Delphine’s life. 💫
My Thoughts: 💫The concept of this book was intriguing. The initial part focused on Delphine’s relationship with Haven, which gradually evolved into their mission to save humanity and cats. I would have appreciated a slightly longer book to delve deeper into their relationship and explore the dynamics between humans and aliens.💫
Sci-fi romance has been a new exploration for me as a reader and I'm finding I love it just as much as I love paranormal romance. I always find Rachel's books to be such fun reads, so I wasn't at all surprised to find that I loved this one too when I received it as an ARC. Cats, a sweet and funny heroine, and a protective alien husband? Honestly, what's not to love?
This is definitely a quick read, but it packs a lot into it! The world feels vast and well developed, both the MCs were super easy to connect to, and I was rooting for their love from the very beginning. Definitely a fun and cozy read, but don't worry -- there's plenty of tension and conflict to go around! This story kept me engaged from start to finish.
Told my boyfriend when I was reading it that it was definitely funny, smutty, and cute. So, if that's your sort of thing, I'm pretty sure you should pick up this book!! Easily a 5-star read for me!
An alien that I see in my dreams turns into my real-life husband? Yes, please. Delphine is a bit of an outcast in her apocalyptic society where everyone is labeled and placed in roles to serve the community. She doesn’t buy into the society structure as much as everyone else does, and why should she? Life there is lonely until her alien dream visitor becomes a reality.
The beginning of this book was very fast. I was into it and rooting for Delphine and Haven. After they got together, it became more about saving the human race. I didn’t see that plot coming since Delphine didn’t feel connected to her community. This plot took the fun out of the book for me. I wanted more of the relationship between Delphine and Haven. There was just more community politics than I expected.
Saved by my alien husband is an alien/human romance where for 10 years Delphine believes Haven is imaginary until one day she finds that he is actually real. I wasn't sure what to expect out of this story since I have never read an alien romance before but I enjoyed this and finished it pretty quickly. There was spice but it also had humor at times. I do wish it was a little bit longer with some more detail into the backstory of the characters but overall it was a good read especially for someone's first time reading alien smut.
Thank you to Aria James Publishing, NetGalley, and Rachel H. Drake for the ARC.
I’m a sci-fi girly to death so I really into this setting in space. It’s my first alien romance so I definitely need to get use to it at first. I really the cats!!! ‘It was said that the generation that lost the dogs was the saddest.’ But what do you mean the dogs went extinct Rebecca?! 😭😭😭
I can see that Haven and Delphine are trying to establish a healthy relationship though it’s a bit hard for me to get into the headspace that their relationship has lasted for ten years. I really like how Haven respects Delphine’s boundaries. Overall I think there isn’t much of a character arc between the two. But I really enjoy the dynamic between the two.
First and foremost, a giant, raging, ‘FUCK YOU’ to the trigger warning page that promised “knotting”, “unique alien anatomy” and “high spice” - you sold me on a lie. (Sidebar: a dick that resembles a forearm is hardly unique)
Secondly, to the reviewers who rated this four whole fucking stars, and in particular the one who lead me to believe this really WAS going to be a spice-fest. I have zero doubt you’re the person who orders lemon and herb at Nando’s and complains it’s too spicy. Fuck you to the moon.
If this hadn’t been an ARC I would have DNF’d.
SBMAH felt a whole fucking lot like thinly veiled climate propaganda, as though Greta Thunberg hijacked a romance novel with ChatGPT.
Into psychic bonds with cats? Contrived dialogue? A virgin MMC who trained with blow up sex dolls? Yeah, me neither.
I was really looking forward to reading this because of the cute cover and the interesting blurb but it didn’t end up being my cup of tea. Because of how fast paced the book is, the emotional connection between the characters did not grow the way I felt they should have.
It is a really interesting concept for an alien romance but it felt like a lot of things were said but never explained properly, maybe the author couldn’t come up with a logical reasoning. Overall just not my cup of tea and choosing to DNF rather than push through and be negative about the book when I know from now that it is not for me.
In a post apocalyptic world where people live under domes, population is dwindling, and animals are mostly extinct, humans are desperate to get pregnant, even if it means from as many partners as possible. But despite their efforts, things still aren't looking good. But Delphine has a way out. An imaginary alien friend who says he's on his way to save not only her but her cats.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was more complex than I expected. I expected a simple sci-fi romance novel that would t dive too deep into the complexities of life. Instead, this book was pretty existential (specially given the premise of the planet Earth dying) and explored themes around mental health, sex, and family dynamics. I enjoyed reading this book and would read a sequel if one was written. Giving it 4 stars because I would have liked it to be a little longer and I think a better title could have been chosen.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Aria James Publishing for the ARC!
This story is adorable. It is a quick read with a unique setting and characters. As a cat lover, it made me so happy to think of a race of aliens that had evolved from cats and were then saving their genetic ancestors from an apocalyptic world.
My only critic is that I wish the story was longer! I feel like Rachel H Drake could create an entire series from Delphine and Havens story. It would be fun to see them again one day.
While aliens and space aren’t usually my thing, I found this book surprisingly adorable! Don’t get me wrong, the spice was exactly what I want from a creature romance, but it was also sweet and at times, funny! I don’t really read sci-fi leaning books, even the romance ones, but I’m actually hoping there will be more books in this universe!
