Great survey for new Dads

I'm a father and can verify this book gives a more than decent theoretical overview full of truths. You'll be glad you read it when you need to take command of a household with babies. Maybe read it a few times...

I may not agree with "partner". God made man work and woman give birth painfully. But this book gives a practical guide for new Dads in this morally fallen world.

At the same time we're so rich we can use disposable nappies (diaper for you Americans) and fake milk if Mum can't or won't feed.

So the reality is men are thrown into a series of catch 22s in this age. And this book tells all about it. In reality, you'll have to sacrifice your health and relationship to focus on needed wealth over short term while adapting to dominion over a new family.

The links at the back of book are interesting reading. It speaks to our collective amnesia about child care. So if you have a grandma who's not ideologically against motherhood then appoint her as consultant and helpers helper.

The First Time Dad Guide offers a sensible introduction to fatherhood, especially for men who identify with traditional masculine roles. It covers important themes like self-care and sustaining your relationship during the transition into parenthood, and the action lists make advice accessible. That said, I found it repetitive at times, with a sequencing that felt disjointed. While it didn’t add much to my own sense of preparedness, it reassured my partner that I’d engaged with the material, which was a worthwhile outcome in itself!

Good overall book

Good overall book on after to expect as a new dad. The formatting could be better as it can be difficult to pick out the subheadings.
