Okay wow >> first book by Zoe Dod and definitely not my last. I devoured this book. Leah and Gabriel were amazing, their chemistry was just so captivating. Also bonus points for the side characters because guess who wants a book for each side character? MEEEE

Both characters had so much growth and genuinely cared for each other in the most beautiful way. It was so easy to connect with them and really feel only them because of the way Zoe wrote them. Also Gabriel is definitely a new favorite billionaire boyfriend 🤍 The Only thing I didn’t like was the miscommunication between them 🫣

The storyline was absolutely beautiful. I was so invested and just wanted to keep reading.

Definitely recommend!!

Thank you so much Zoe for sending me an ARC 🥰

long and anticlimactic

The story was predictable. Like everything in the story was predictable. . And the same phrases and catch words were used over and over. The story dragged on and went too much in debt of obvious things and not enough of others. Example… Caleb the MMC identical twin impersonates MMC to the FMC and she can easily spot the difference. But the author skimmed through how she knows the difference but made it seem like it was a funny scenario without explaining the significance. The whole fake narrative went on way too long. And for the FMC to be the communications officer, she was terrible at communicating with her boss. It was a good story with potential but the execution was mediocre.
She wants a baby, he offers to provide sperm. And lines blur. The end. Nothing happens in between. The story didn’t offer much of anything besides spice.

This is a slow-burn romance with a sweet and heartwarming storyline that is easy to read.
The first thing that caught my eye was that Gabriel was 5 years younger than Leah. This was interesting to read, contrary to the usual convention that the male characters are older than the female characters.
It was beautiful to see how their relationship slowly developed and how they communicated to solve their problems and maturely act on them. It's kind of rare in stories.
I liked the side characters and I'm definitely intrigued to read their story too.
The bonus chapter was lovely to read too.
It's the first book by Zoe Dod and definitely not my last. :)

no ending?

Not sure if it continues. It was left at their baby kicking. I love the story but I guess I was hoping to see if they had twins, if they married? Or had more children. Don’t get me wrong but honestly hoping for a longer ending.

Man o man this book was so easy to read. The communication between the characters was so nice to read and how they solve they’re problems so easily. Honestly reading their little banter was kinda amusing I was smiling so much haha
I really wanted to read about Elijah book but I guess I need to wait a little longer

Oh my word Gabriel Frazer, swoon. He is considerate, gorgeous and a sex god. Leah a professional working woman, with a good relationship with her boss, then things get a little muddy and well delicious! I was desperate for them to do it the proper way, even then Gabriel was so considerate. This was a slow burn romance, we could see it but they couldn't.

Billionaire ✔️
Friends to lovers ✔️
Fake relationship ✔️
Sizzling sex ✔️

Yes this has all I needed and I loved it.

Oh when you find a book that delivers the goods you hunt down the authors information and sign on for life. THIS book did that for me. Gabriel and Leah have so many hurdles to jump through to get their own happy ending it makes you wonder if they will. Zoe does and incredible build and takes through all the feels to the pint your hanging on to the end holding your breath just in case … grab this book it’s a good one

Leah and Gabriel

Good plot, well written story. Pacing was good. It’s a dual POV, friends to lovers trope as Leah has worked for Gabriel for 8 yrs and they’re work friends. During that time, they dated other people but there’s no OW/OM drama after they finally get together.

No 3rd act breakup (yay!). Their relationship is built on a contract they made so as it develops, there’s uncomfortable conversations and awkward situations they have to address. Much like real relationships. It never felt like they had much chemistry at first. There’s no big reveal where they suddenly realize they both feel more. It’s more like a slow dawning that they’re more important to each other than they first thought. It’s a sweet story, low angst, and sometimes you just want an easy read about a romance that grows organically through friendship. Of course, there’s spice and a great HEA. I also loved Gabriel’s supportive family dynamic.

I don’t understand how this books so highly rated I really tried to get into it but found myself skimming the book and then realizing I was doing that at only 140 pages in I gave up. Its dual point of view but a lot of scenes I would have liked to witness like the altercation with the ex and his new girlfriend or when Gabe’s mom first drops in and sees Leah living with him all happened off screen and is just briefly mentioned in passing was a huge miss. I only gave it two stars because I like the premise with the whole fake dating but pregnancy trope unfortunately I was very disappointed.

so very, very close

I wanted to give this book a better rating. Honestly, I did. The pacing, characters, and plot were all well done.

But the sentence fragments!! The grammar was painful in SUCH a specific way. Periods instead of commas, just all OVER the place. And not in a stylistic way, but in a “I’ve genuinely got no concept of what makes a complete sentence” sort of way.

The other issue I had with it was the BFF Stella, who was constantly haranguing our poor FMC to have casual s*x with the MMC, only to turn around once the deed was done and say “I knew this was a bad idea. You’re no good at casual.” Excuse me, ma’am, WHAT?! What an absolutely awful friend! The other bff just disappeared halfway through the book, so no opinion on her.

The last 25% of the book it was like the author got tired of the MCs and decided to just switch to the other siblings. It made no sense for the story and was incredibly disappointing. This could have been SUCH a good pregnancy book if she could have only stayed focused on the actual couple! Instead, we get to 9 weeks and then…they’re done.

There were some other minor editing issues, where a character would reply to a statement that wasn’t ever said (MMC: our little peanut now, more like. FMC: and a bowling ball, soon. Although it’s not much of a secret now. Me: huh? Who said anything about a secret??). There were some inconsistencies with other side characters (miss me with whatever unholy mess is going on with Elijah, Darra, and Pen. A family that’s convinced both Darra AND Pen that they’re both pariahs? Yikes.)

Sometimes I read a book and think it’s such a mess it needs a professional editor, and I get that cost can be prohibitive. But this was so close to being good it just needed a solid, critical beta reader to point out a few things, and that’s almost worse. Because cost ISNT an issue. That’s the sort of thing people would absolutely do for free!

Anyways, up until about 80% I was so excited to have this as another pregnancy trope book to recommend, but honestly, I don’t know if I can. It’s more a book about getting pregnant than about pregnancy, and that’s something else entirely.

And also, it needs some polish.

The Donor Billionaire by Zoe Dod is a heartwarming and emotionally engaging romance that skillfully blends the complexities of workplace dynamics with the tender journey toward parenthood. The story centers on Leah, a strong, intelligent woman in her mid-thirties who, after a painful breakup with a cheating fiancé, finds herself unexpectedly supported by her boss, Gabriel, a reserved billionaire hedge fund mogul.

What makes this book particularly touching is the emotional connection between Leah and Gabriel. Their relationship evolves naturally from professional colleagues to something deeply personal, marked by mutual understanding and respect. Leah perfectly complements Gabriel, appreciating his introverted, grumpy yet kind nature, and understanding his quirks without judgment. This mature and honest communication between them is a refreshing departure from typical romance tropes and adds a layer of authenticity to their bond.

Leah’s resilience and determination to pursue motherhood despite her fears create a heartfelt narrative that many readers find relatable and inspiring. Gabriel’s offer to be her sperm donor blurs the lines between business and personal life, leading to a slow-burning romance that is both sweet and compelling. The age difference, with Leah being five years older, adds a unique twist to their dynamic, challenging common genre conventions.

The novel also benefits from well-drawn supporting characters who enrich the story with their lively interactions, making the world around Leah and Gabriel feel vibrant and real.

In summary, The Donor Billionaire is a beautifully written, emotionally resonant romance that offers a fresh take on the billionaire and workplace romance genres. Leah and Gabriel’s connection is both heartwarming and genuine, making this book a satisfying read for fans of contemporary romance with depth and warmth.

Leah and Gabriel, you spunky hornbags!

She is dealt a hurtful blow by her boyfriend cheating and being a douche canoe - Vince is a spoilt brat, be gone and don’t return MOFO! Leah decides to become a mother on her own, but her boss and all-round hotty is keen to assist. In many ways.

Of course Gabriel is a workaholic who isn’t the relationship type … until he finds an intelligent and beautiful woman who has been right under his nose. Things progress, in many ways … Gabriel is hooked and I love to see it!!

Leah’s friends are awesome side characters and Gabriel’s twin brother is a cutie that seems to be hiding something.

The following are excerpts from The Donor Billionaire, written by Zoe Dod

“We’ll have professional sex, I mean clinical sex... in order to make a baby,” I say.

“You wanted me to remind you to pick up a large bag of green lentils,” I say, enjoying the flush that spreads up her neck. “Thank you,” she splutters.

“Is that what a woman really wants in the office? To be ravished over a desk?”

“Leah Walker, what are you doing to me?” He rests his forehead against mine. “I wasn’t expecting this,” he says and I feel the furrows form between his brows. “You’re like a drug. One I can’t seem to get enough of.” He exhales slowly. “I can’t get you out of my head or what it feels like to have you under me, surrounding me.”

Whatever I told the girls this evening, I know I’m in trouble. This man is so much more than I ever imagined, and I’m going to need to find a way to protect my heart if I’m to survive this.

One thing I know is Leah can’t get enough of my body. If that’s the case, I shall use every trick in my arsenal to make her crave me so much she can’t let me go, and with luck, somewhere along the way, she might even fall in love with my mind too.

“Ignore my brother. His thoughts are not mine, nor Caleb’s or the rest of my family’s. You are here as a guest of my mother and me. The child growing inside you is mine. You’re not inferior. You are a queen, my queen. Don’t let that arsehole wield any power.”

“When did you become such a bitch?” Vince spits, his eyes wide. “When I realised being a doormat wasn’t conducive to my wants and needs.”

End.

FL nya lebih tua 5 thn.

10 tahun sama2, 5 tahun tunangan, eh ditinggalin, diusir dari rumahnya.
Leah ini lagi ditahap patah hati, 10 tahun nya terbuang sia-sia.
Mimpi punya keluarga dan anak terancam hanya sebatas mimpi..

Meet Gabriel, Billionaire sekaligus bosnya Leah.
Dia ini antisosial, walaupun dari keluarga kaya dia gak suka sm lingkungannya yg kebanyakan fake.
Diusainya yg 29 thn dia cuma gila kerja, gak suka basa-basi.

Gelisah dia, gak rela kalo Leah bakalan punya anak sm org asing. Sebenarnya mereka sm2 suka. cuma berusaha profesional.

Gabriel ini beneran orgnya pemikir, smpe udah konsultasi sm temen dekatnya, sampe satu kesimpuan dia mw jadi donor sperm nya.

overall gue suka. bacanya smpe jam 3 subuh... gue kliyengan dikantor. ditambah epilogue nya juga manies banget.. penasaran sm Elijah dan Pen. Untuk Twin-nya Gabriel, Caleb, nyusul dah.

Such a sweet and heartwarming story!

Gabriel is an introverted grump but unlike the typical grumpy characters we are used to, he isn't unnecessarily rude to the female protagonist. He's a grouch hiding a soft and kind heart. Shy since he was a young boy and the complete opposite of his twin Caleb. You can't help but fall in love with him.

Leah is strong, loyal and admirable. Despite the heartbreak of her cheating ex and the fear of never getting a chance at motherhood due to being single in her mid-thirties, she stays resilient and determined.

About the donor thing...

What's great about their relationship is how mature they are. Since the beginning they always put truth and communication first in order to avoid misunderstandings. The characters act like their age. Also it was sweet that she was five years older than him. Not the same older man, younger woman.

Leah has worked for Gabriel for 8 years. First as his PA. Now after 10 years of being engaged to Vince, he announces he's met someone else.
One evening when Leah is out with her girlfriends, Vince and his new girlfriend make a scene at the wine bar and the GF announces she's pregnant. Leah rushes from the wine bar where Gabe and his twin brother, Caleb have witnessed the scene. Gabe follows her out of the bar and watches from a distance until she gets home.
Now the fun begins. When he finds out she needs to find an apartment because Vince is demanding she move out in two weeks, he offers her an apartment in his building. Then, surprise, surprise her apartment floods and he moves her into his guest suite. Even though Gabe is socially awkward, he finds that he can converse with and enjoys Leah's presence in his life. After seeing her browsing history one night he offers to be her donor. And so, they enter into a mutually agreed upon co-parenting contract.

If you like a girl gets involved with her billionaire (cause they're always billionaires) boss storyline where there are explicit sex scenes and an HEA ending, you'll enjoy this one!!

- RECEIVED AS AN ARC COPY -

I got to say that I loved the FMC in this book. Leah was no victim or damsel in distress, she was a intelligent, logical, fun and engaging woman, with real personal problems and concerns. Her friend group were a blessing and a blast in their banter, I loved it how they supported her through thick and thin.

Gabriel, the MMC, was ok, pleasant, sweet at moments, but also very logical to a fault - I had a big problem with his lack of attitude or some possessiveness -. But I loved his mom and his brother Caleb.

The beginning of the book seemed promising, but suddently became too "technical" and perhaps my problem here was that their constant logical approach in regards to their relationship became tiring. And the end was kind of disappointing, I was waiting for maybe some future overview of their lifes some years ahead or just them with the baby.

Overall, I did like this book even if I had some issues with it along the way. And I'm very curious about this authors work and hopeful that we will have an Elijah/Pen book after Calebs.

A Mutually Beneficial Arrangement

Leah's fiance of many years cheats on her and leaves her for the pregnant OW. Leah, too classy and strong to show weakness, trucks along heartily as the Communications head for Gabriel's multi billionaire company. She's worked with him for eight years and yet they don't truly get to know one another until he does the unthinkable and offers her an apartment to stay in until she's on her feet.

But of course there's more to this. Soon it's revealed Leah is considering a sperm donor so she can get pregnant. Gabriel does what any awkward billionaire boss does: suggests being her sperm donor and co-parenting their child.

I know, I know. Way out there. Right? And yet the slow evolution of their professional relationship to friendship to lust-ship and more is smooth and sweet. My primary complaint is the overuse of commas and some serious misspelling errors later in the book. It's almost as if the editor or beta readers trailed off at the end. Overall, a fun and spicy billionaire romance. 4 stars.

A light and fluffy, smutty romcom

This was a refreshing read.

The premise, the writing, the characters and the journey were beautifully constructed to create this truly wonderful billionaire romance.

I liked that aside from contextual references the MMC wasn't only defined by his money, he had depth, he had quirks, and he had a lovely arc showing him coming more out of his shell as the book progressed.

The FMC was realistic, relatable, and had a fantastic arc following her part of the story too. She had fantastic friends which was nice to see as a continual theme throughout the books - anyone in a solid group of besties that feel like sisters will relate!

Truly entertaining read to follow and I can't wait to see what's in store in the other books!

⭐ - 5/5
🌶️ - 4/5 - straight forward but very emotionally charged - very reminiscing of falling in love irl
❤️ - 5/5 - just **mwah** 😘

This was a little out of the realm of what I read, in terms of the planned pregnancy. Usually it’s a surprise trope for me. But I really did love Gabriel and Leah. Their story I feel came together organically, given the situation. I loved their chemistry and I loved Gabriel’s respect he held for Leah. It was also refreshing to not have a huge traumatic event before everything tied together. It flowed naturally for me, and I really did enjoy this!

The Donor Billionaire: A Fake Relationship Romance ( The Trade Family Book 1)

Oh my...this story was absolutely beautiful. Leah is planning her wedding, the next she is being told to move out that the engagement is over. Her husband to be shows up with another women and tell her she has to move as soon as possible. The woman is pregnant with her ex boyfriend. She leaves and trying to find a place to live is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Not having any luck with it , she tells her boss that she has to have time off to find something right away. Gabriel has been her boss for the past 10 years. He offers her a place to stay. In his building. Leah moves in and loves it a lot. This story is fantastic story line. Every twist on turn something is happening and never comes off as boring. ENJOY! This author is an excellent person in writing love and drama stories.!!!

This book was very boring, and I really tried to like it but nothing was fun or exciting about anything I read. There was no real growth with the characters relationship, very plain, and way too many POV chapters that didn't allow for any convincing that they are starting to like each other. The author liked to skip, ex: she has live with him for a week, a month, a few months past, or they magically went swimming together etc. Instead of skipping tell me what they did during those times to convince me they are actually falling in love? I don't even know if it was love really... The ending was bad too, don't expect what you think...

Also too many repeats of phrases, i worked there 8 years, I have known him 8 years, he was my boss for 8 years, etc. I literally said sthu at one point. lol

Wow, I love this couple

I am not going to lie, but I wasn't crazy about it at first, because for reasons unknown, I wasn't connecting to the characters. Sooo glad I hung in there, because I absolutely loved Leah and Gabriel so much as the story progressed. He was so wrong in his own opinion that he couldn't and wasn't capable of doing "relationships". He was actually really great at doing it with Leah. She just got out of a long relationship with a piece of garbage guy who cheated on her and didn't deserve her. She was smart, sweet and I really loved her. I was truly in love with him. He was kind, thoughtful and caring towards Leah. Don't want to give too much away, but their relationship was special. i'm going to move onto book 2 to find out what happens with Gabriel and Leah, and of course, Caleb's story should be fun

Oh my, what a breath of fresh air. It's an easy read. The communication and respect? Chef's kiss!!

Tbh, i can see how others will find this uneventful and boring. There are not much drama and angst, only because they don't let any misunderstanding get in the way. They communicate openly and honestly- and I realized how something as simple as honesty can require so much bravery and trust. Trust that your partner will not look at you differently after baring your dreams and aspiration. It's really good.

The book focused on the evolution of their love. Their individual growth. Their communication is raw and honest - which makes sense since she is supposed to be a communications officer. I like how their characters stay true to their nature. I took a break reading romantasy rh and I'm glad to have randomly picked this up.

Holy My WoW 🤩

Forewarning for US readers. The words will throw you off. Took a while to realize a “jumper” is a tee shirt not overalls or a romper 😂 and kerb is actually a word and it does mean curb, thank you google 😂 🤪

Okay, so holy crap what an amazing book. I kept picturing Sheldon from “Big Bang Theory” when Gabriel was described as socially awkward 😬 I loved how their relationship turned out and they communicated with each other instead of the stupid breakup that you usually read. Vince was a dense bonehead, so glad she gave him the what for (I threw in a few words of my own during her smackdown with him 😂) I really can’t wait for the next book of Caleb and April. I would however LOVE to read about Elijah and more than likely Pen.

I really enjoyed Leah and Gabriel's characters. Gabriel is not the typical "billionaire playboy" in so many books. That title belongs to his identical twin.
Leah is also a great character. She has a great job, one she actually enjoys. She is not self depreciating, which again, is common with fmc in this genre. She is however, nearing 35 and fresh out of a relationship she wasted too many years in.

While the story contains many of the things common in billionaire/workplace romances (for example : fake relationship), the author really put her own twist on it.

I will say, I was a bit let down by the sudden ending but I look forward to reading the next book.
