Brains, beauty, and a past plagued with death and destruction, Alexis Parker is anything but ordinary. Her deductive skills and expert marksmanship make her deadly, but she must contend with her demons in order to overcome the irreparable damage she's endured.
Ever since meeting James Martin, Alex's life has never been the same. The former federal agent turned private investigator has faced off against mercenaries, deranged crime lords, and art smugglers, and that's just what's happened since taking a job in the private sector. After the most recent brush with death, Alex is reconsidering her work as a private security consultant, but the universe has other plans.
Martin has been arrested for the murder of supermodel Caterina Skolnick. The body was found on his yacht, and he was the only person onboard. Now Alex is once again rehired by her former boss to clear his name and identify the assailant. Her stellar reputation and Martin's affluence, coupled with the threat of a lawsuit, force the police department to enlist her help in resolving this matter. Furthermore, she's a size two, and they need her to infiltrate the salacious world of modeling, armed only with sarcasm and stilettos.
Her worlds collide when her corporate gig at Martin Technologies, her consulting position with the local PD, and her almost relationship with Martin blend together in a maelstrom of drugs, sex, and security overhauls. What's a girl to do when the boundaries between her private life and her work life no longer exist?

Just as good as the first two mysteries in this series. What doesn't convince me is the romance throughout. It's just too slow going.... I will read more in this series.
I picked this up in error having disliked books one and two. They were not memorable and it cane up free on kindle unlimited. It didn’t take long to remember the idiot characters and I could not finish it when it became gut-wrenchingly inane, boring, repetitive and unrealistic at about 1/3 of the way through.
I love a good mystery and this was a good one. But, I don't think it is the first in this series so I guess I am going to work backwards to find what I missed. You can call it a stand alone book, but I think it would be better reading in sequence. The characters are real and the author didn't use sex and violence to sell the book. Looking forward to reading all the other ones.
Here i am again leaving the OIO again and bounce into consultant for a law firm representing Martin who’s been charged with murder of a model. Of course he is innocent proven the drugs that appear in his body and the models. So he is released from jail and I’m released from the law firm but then the police decide I would make a great consultant for them so here I go again trying to figure out who killed the model. I go undercover as a model even though I’m only 5’6” and almost 30 years old. I get raised eyebrows and the look up and down when I answer the cattle call at the model agency. Enjoy
I have very mixed feelings about this series. There are some fairly obvious typos, repetitive phrases (how many times can the main character call her boss's decisions unilateral?!) and just plain misuse of the language which irritate me. But the plots and the characters themselves are still enjoyable, so thus far I am continuing to follow the series. I'm not sure Alexis's good relationship with both local police and a federal agency is quite realistic, but it is entertaining, and who doesn't like to see a strong female character being reluctantly admired by heretofore skeptical cops.
Alex is involved in a case consulting with the cops to find the person that killed a model and left it to look like Martin did it. She's working with the major crimes department. She ends up going undercover in a modeling agency. There is a lot going on and Alex slowly unravels the murder clues and fingers another model with mental issues. A lot of people are involved with a mix of clues and alibi the model when confronted finally confessed. Oh, Alex and Martin have slept together twice and have an understanding..
Interesting plots in this international thriller series.
I have grown fond of this cast of characters. It took a little time for the main character to grow on me but the plots are interesting and there is always a lot going on. A reader should start from book one to fully understand what is going on.
Solid police procedural, reasonable amount of action, a little bit of romance, all wrapped up in a terrific heroine. Alex Parker, whether working for the feds, the police, or independent PI work, is bright, snarky, tough and - remarkably - very fragile in number of ways. Makes for a great read. On to the next book in the series!
This is a great series. Although you could read as stand alone, I think starting from the beginning is best as you can see the character changes. Lots of action and plots. Great mystery. Characters are all interesting. Enjoyable reading and look forward to the next adventure.
This series is amazing! Each book is as good as the previous one. Alexis continues her consulting business, taking a gig with local law enforcement. As she continues to struggle in figuring out her work preferences, she works two cases simultaneously, that are quite different.
I enjoy the.character development and the fast pace of this book.
Alexis does it again, solving one crime after another! Well with help from cop pals and FBI Friends, but she's still the one doing the leg work. A little romance may finally be happening!😊
There’s nothing better then a series recovery around a smart woman trained to figure out ‘who done it”, while dodging bullets, and finding love. I’m heading on to the fourth in this series.
I enjoy the way the books in this series are written. The stories are private investigation/police procedural stories with characters that are enjoyable. There is some romance. This is a very entertaining book.
This series is a cover to cover thrillers you can't just read a few chapters and set it down to goo back to later you get to involved to put it down until itis finished.
This book had a great storyline, and it really brought out the characters in it. The only downside it seemed like the hero was just going to give up on the heroine, and move on. That sucked, but other than that it was really good.
The cases keep coming and Alex is up for them. Her relationship with James Martin moves in a positive direction and she kicks ass and takes names in characteristic fashion.
I did Enjoy this book even though it did have some slow parts to it. Not quite as thrilling as other books that this author has written but I did go ahead and get it finished. I was glad of this decision toward the end.
I can only describe the author's writing style as effortless mystery. The story lines are so well written that little effort is required to read the book. The easy flow and logical mix of humor and romance makes each story a joy to read.
You never know what lenght's they will go to to get what they want! On another I'm note, could our favorite "non-couple" finely be getting there "stuff"together ❤?right who am I kidding!!
Enjoy this author and the story and starting on book 4. Thus PI has a good relationship between her, her clients, the police and former and present employers. She thinks outside the box to solve a mystery.
This series is amazing. At the time of this review, there are 27 books in this series. I have read them all, and I am reading them again. I absolutely love the characters and the plots. I recommend this series to friends.
#3 in the Alexis Parker series. Getting to know the players in these novels has been fun. Alexis evolves emotionally and some of the previous tension has been relieved.
