I almost DNFd at 20%, but then the plot line twist happened so I stayed to see how everything played out.

Good short story. The plot was engaging and emotionally deep.
I just didn’t rly understand where their romantic attraction came from. It seemed as though it was something he felt for a while… but she left as soon as she turned 18 and it’s been 10 yrs. So idk when those feelings first came to be?
It was kinda just instalove which I’m not a huge fan of. I was able to look past it for the most part bc I love the dad’s bf trope.
Also the mom. Bro. I hate her so bad I don’t care if they rekindled their relationship. She believed her daughter r*pist over her and had her drugged up in a mental facility, away from anyone who could help her. And for what? Her fucking reputation. Right righttttt.
I liked Callan a lot. He checked off the protective, broody, and dirty criteria. I just love any man who is obsessed with his woman. I loved when he went crazy with rage over anyone who hurt her.

Man this one’s packed full of emotions and trauma, this book has a lot of heavy topics so read your triggers please.
However, it was all portrayed well I thought. It a heavy book, but the love and the found family within it was beautiful. Seeing him stand up for her and be what nobody else has ever been for her, while also having suspense. This was a good one.

What an emotional and traumatic read. Holy cow... the plot twist was crazy and I just got a feeling the bad guy was based on a certain orange someone.
However, I do wish there was a little more character depth for Callan. And I do like that the climax was more at the halfway point then right at the end. The only thing that seemed to be rushed was the ending and making the actual HEA.

Definitely Recommend
I saw a video on Tik Tok about this book and decided to read it. I’m so pleased I did. The author kept me intrigued throughout with all the twists and turns merged perfectly.A beautiful story and I definitely recommend reading this amazingly deep beautiful story.

I… don’t know about this one. 😬
Something about this book just felt off to me. The grammar was rough, the same things were repeated over and over, and at times I genuinely felt like I was reading the literary equivalent of an AI-generated fever dream with a dark backstory 😂
And I don’t mean that as in “OMG, this book was obviously written by AI” because I have absolutely no idea if that’s the case, it just had that too generic, too polished-but-not-polished enough feel. Like where is the actual soul?? The feeling of the book??
The characters and story had potential, but I never really connected with any of it. Like the words were there, the plot was technically happening, but I couldn’t feel the person behind the story. Does that make sense?? Haha
