Sheree Montgomery has had a lot of experiences in her young life. She became a newspaper owner and recently found out that her biological parents are alive. Feeling betrayed, she questioned if she would ever be worthy of love. Consequently, she doesn't believe in relationships, especially since her biological mother, Shelby, suddenly reappears in her life. Sheree is doing everything possible to avoid a relationship due to her luck with dating. She wonders if she can give love a shot if only her insecurities aren't in her way.

Pedro Gonzalez is living his best life, enjoying his job and loving his family. Despite their issues, they are working through them. With his sister's passing still weighing heavily on his mind, Pedro does what he can to help others by volunteering at the downtown youth center. While volunteering, he encounters his ex-wife, whom he hasn't seen since their mediation years ago. Pedro attempts to move forward, but will past recollections rekindle former emotions?

Sheree and Pedro have had several encounters since their first meeting at Andie and Dexter’s wedding. They even shared a secret since the wedding, making Pedro want to explore his feelings for Sheree. However, Sheree feels she’s not ready to reciprocate, which could lead to Pedro moving in another direction in his love life. Will Sheree be willing to give in to her feelings, or will she let her potential relationship with Pedro slip away?
