A little long, I think, and I did not care for the illustrations at all. But still, the message (whether read as metaphor for siblings or literal for pets) is a good one. Not as amusing, but better, imo, than How Fletcher Was Hatched.

Sweet and charming story about a dog who must make room when a new kitten joins the family. Their caretaker, a little girl, also learns a lesson about dividing her time more equitably between her pets.
The story of Nugget and Darling will be relatable to child who lives in a multi-pet household, or has siblings.

This is a sweet story that depicts the adjustment that our current pets experience when a new pet joins the family. The narrative is fun to read aloud and we loved the pen, ink and watercolor illustrations - they are so adorable and we loved Nugget's expressions. Overall, it's an entertaining story with a good message and we really enjoyed reading it together.

A book about sibling rivalry told through the eyes of a dog and cat who belong to a little girl. This book makes me cry every time.
