A 1920s Historical Cozy Mystery

A honeymoon in Paris. Idyllic days and nights. It couldn’t be more perfect. Until somebody dies.

October 1924. After their magical wedding, Kitty Worthington and her husband, Inspector Robert Crawford Sinclair, head to Paris for their honeymoon. Art museums, haute couture, French cuisine. Wondrous nights. It’s everything Kitty has always dreamed of and more. But then a body drops putting a damper on things.

At least this time, it’s a matter for the French police. There’s no need for Kitty and Robert to get involved. Things change, however, when a dear friend becomes the chief suspect, and she begs Kitty for help. Unable to walk away, she and Robert agree to investigate.

As they desperately search for clues, they discover a tortuous trail that leads from the Eiffel Tower to the Champs-Élysées and the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. With time running out, the solution eludes them, until they realize the answer is to be found in the most macabre place of all, the Paris Catacombs.

A Murder in Paris, Book 10 in the Kitty Worthington Mysteries, is another captivating historical cozy mystery from the pen of USA Today Bestselling Author Magda Alexander. This ingenious tale is sure to delight fans of Agatha Christie and the golden age of mysteries.

Honeymoon murder

Kitty and Robert are enjoying their honeymoon trip to Paris when Kitty has a chance meeting with an old friend from finishing school. After catching up they meet along with her friend’s family at the famous Moulin Rouge. After that their honeymoon takes a deadly tint. When her friend is arrested for murder Kitty can’t turn down her mother’s plea for help. With a reluctant Robert and a couple of surprises friends they set off on a hunt for the truth, can they solve a murder before their time in Paris is up?
Poor Robert trying to enjoy an investigation free honeymoon how silly of him lol. Quick, enjoyable and witty read. With a bit of a scaled down investigative force as this is a honeymoon after all. I was pleasantly surprised by the conclusion and there’s a very big twist at the end that is a bit of a shock. A wonderful addition to the series and I eagerly await the next installment!

A wonderful mystery - and a honeymoon to go with it

Kitty and Robert have tied the knot - finally - and Paris is their honeymoon
destination.

Ms Alexander has given us a marvelous tale, perfect for Kitty and “her newly
minted husband” as she prefers to describe him. But nothing is ever simple
with Kitty and Robert as the earlier books have demonstrated.

I absolutely loved this story as I have the nine books before it.

I strongly recommend this book.

Always Fun Solving a Mystery with Kitty

Kitty and Robert are honeymooning in Paris and, of course, there’s a murder. Also of course, they are connected to the accused and can’t trust the authorities. They tap some of the usual team to clear the friend but not everyone. I thought that made it easier for Alexander to manage the story. The romantic duo manage lots of honeymoon activity, lots of seeing the sights of Paris, and dining on French cuisine. The solution fell into their laps but then they were mostly otherwise occupied. Enjoy the cozy romp. I did.

Not your usual honeymoon

Kitty and Robert are in Paris being typical honeymooners. The Louvre, The Ritz, Moulin Rouge, Monmartre, and murder. Kitty simply must get involved to save an old friend yet again!
The 1920s come alive with the fashions, the food, high society, the customs. A wonderful easy read cozy!

Poor Kitty and Robert can't even enjoy their honeymoon without being caught up in a murder! Luckily, they manage to solve the case and still have a lovely time in Paris. This book was quite short, but still just as enjoyable as the rest of the series. The mystery was intriguing, and I was surprised by the outcome. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Christmas installment!

Enjoyed all 10 books

I have just finished 1 to 10 and I must admit enjoyed them all will look forward to the next 2 I liked the way kitty and her friends interacted and these books had a bit of everything and not to mushy thank goodness not a whole chapter of bed sport and it was good as well because the war was over and women were becoming more independent and the younger men were beginning to recognize this as well very well written and very good description of the era.

ok

A newly married couple get involved with a murder of her school chum’s fiancé. Fun rides and lots of descriptions of the city of Paris in the 1920s…. oh, did I forget to say they were on their honeymoon?

Also, I think it’s somewhat unrealistic to believe that a Detective Inspector with Scotland Yard and a tough man about town sailor would kowtow to a 22(?) year old woman, even if she was the wife of the detective. They seem to let her lead them around on a leash.
The plot was interesting, but the ending was a little weak.
I like a cozy mystery, but they all seem to have the same characters and plots…. just different names and cities. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Not sure I will continue this series.

This honeymoon episode in the Kitty Worthington series was not as good as some of Magda Alexander's other books. I found the mushy gushy endearments Kitty and her husband Robert to be unbelievable for two independent and sophisticated charactersm and actually rather sick making. It is commendable that the author does not go into details of their love making given the way sex seems to sell, even in historical cozy mysteries, something wryer and drier would have given this novel a bit of class and a humorous twist.

Robert and Kitty's honeymoon was interrupted by the murder of the man Kitty's school friend had the misfortune of being engaged to. He was not a very nice man, especially in his business dealings. So there would not be paucity of suspects. Unfortunately, Kitty's friend was the prime suspect because her engagement ring was found at the crime scene as well as her gun; and so Kitty was obliged to help.

Paris, October 1924. After their joyous wedding, Kitty and her new husband Robert travel to Paris for a magical honeymoon. Their newlywed bliss is interrupted when a school friend of Kitty's is accused of murder. Although reluctant to get involved, Kitty can't turn down her friend's mother's request for help. Kitty and Robert investigate the murder and its disturbing path, with help from the French police, while still finding time to enjoy Paris as a newly married couple.

Murder in Paris

This again was a thrilling read.

school.
Things go wrong when the fiancé of her friend is shot...and she is arrested for his murder.
Kitty must investigate to clear her friend.

Not the best

That being said it wasn't too bad. I just wonder how she would have reacted if the boot had been on the other foot. In other words if it had been her new husband who had wanted to interrupt the honeymoon to get involved in solving a crime. I doubt she would have given in with the same grace.

I was pleasantly surprised by the conclusion and there’s a very big twist at the end that is a bit of a shock. I also didn’t realize this book is #10 out of a series! So I’ll be sure to go back and read the others ☺️

cosy murder mystery

These characters should all weigh two tons, plenty of bread and sweets each breakfast, usually at least one tea or more with more food and sweets, lunch usually with some form of alcohol and sandwiches (plural ) and finally cocktails followed by at least two courses of supper, appropriate liquor with each course and some insanely rich dessert.

le beau Paris

Kitty and Robert are in Paris, on their honeymoon, full of love and passion. But murder intercedes (Mais bien sûr). Against Robert’s wishes Kitty investigates (the accused is her friend from finishing school). A tangled web, the Moulin Rouge, Mellie’s surprise appearance, lots of cafè et croissants, make this a delectable Parisienne romp.

Another adventure with Kitty and her (now) husband DCI Robert Sinclair. They're on their honeymoon in Paris when a friend from finishing school is accused of murder. A good whodunit with twists and turns aplenty.

Another short one, a novella, as if she's ripping us off. It's getting annoying. Kitty and Robert are on their honeymoon and, of course, get caught up in a murder. The basics are good if a tad simple, and the characters are still fun. Still, this only deserves average.

Kitty and Robert are in Paris for their honeymoon when Kitty runs into Mignonne, a classmate from her finishing school in Switzerland. Then Mignonne's fiance is murdered, and Kitty can't help getting involved in the investigation, despite Robert's reservations.
