I am a developer by profession, of software and the occasional website. However, WordPress itself was new for me, and this book was exactly the intro I was looking for, to wrap my head around the structure of files in the install, where to go to edit different functionality and visual aspects, etc. I felt this book covered the right range of topics with the right depth, without spending time on the basics that I already know or diving so far deep that I lost the big picture perspective. Post-read, I felt prepared to dig in and tackle the tasks I needed to complete, and further explore the places I wanted to learn more about. If you are new to code development or web development, this book is NOT going to break things down to a level you will find value from. But as the title clearly alludes to, if you are a web coder who is just new to WordPress - this book is a great introduction to WP for you!
