Lennox Kennedy is beautiful, loud and the love of my life.
She’s also my ex-girlfriend.
The first time I saw her after ten years apart, I slammed into the plexiglass minutes before our game was set to begin. The second time I threw up. But third time’s a charm apparently because as my fiancée and I walked into an appointment to meet the woman hired to plan our nuptials–there she was again.
Obviously, I did what any smart man would do–I called off the wedding.
I don’t have a plan per se, other than winning back the only girl I’ve ever loved.
As a future hall of famer and one of the best centers hockey has ever seen, I know a thing or two about winning, but convincing Lennox Kennedy to give this hockey boy another chance might just be the challenge of a lifetime and this game I’m playing may turn out to be nothing but a pucking disaster.
Hockeyboy is a second chance rom-com following Aiden, a recently engaged hockey player, and Lennox, his old high-school sweetheart and new wedding planner. When Aiden and Lennox reunite, Aiden instantly ends his engagement and sets his sights on getting Lennox back. I really wanted to love this, but I just couldn't get into the story and romance! My main issue was it felt like everything was happening and tropes were just thrown in the story to add more and more when the dozens of chaotic side characters were steamlining the book and throwing it off balance. I think the almost 500 pages was a little overkill and I wanted more emotion and angst from Lennox and Aiden. The way they fell into bed together and then things just worked themselves out felt very forced and while I can get behind a sweet and simple rom-com, this just wasn't for me. I am definitely in the minority here and I can see this book working for so many people, if you're a fan of Meghan Quinn, I see so many similarities!
~Many thanks to Hambright PR for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
There's no way I could read all 409 (490?) Pages of this 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦😬 I can't even finish chapter 3! What the fuck is this???
He's been with his gf, now fiance for three YEARS? Even with everyone telling him how awful she is. they're at the wedding coordinator's office and in walks his ex gf. With her pink.outfit, pink hair and pink painted lips 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😬😬😬😬😬😬😬🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂😂 good god.......ew. Ex gf is jealous of the new girl and he doesn't say anything since he's struck speechless. The h says the fiances voice is nasally, just like her face and her nose (she says schnoz) can give pinoccho a run for his money.......making fun of someone elses looks and voice like that makes me cringe super duper hard 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😳🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦😠 now with her pink ensemble, shes already a fuckimg bitch. He's already planning on telling his fiance that its over 🙄🙄🙄🙄😬😬😬😬😬 after three years......🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
They leave for the elevator and he tells her that they're done and she goes, "ha! You weren't end game anyway! I planned to use you for money while sleeping with another hockey player because he has a bigger dick yada yada" and he's like thank god! This is great. Like.....bitch, you stayed with her for 3 years! You knew what kind of person she is but you just stayed for the hell of it? Then you tell fiance that you gave your heart to this ex of yours and never got it back and you will always love her. Then why are you with someone else for three years!?!? How is that fair to you and the significant other?!!
This is even before chapter 3 is done 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Fuck.
This author is problematic for me. I tried her first book and just couldn't get into it. And then guess who?! FACEBOOK book group people said how GREAT this book is. No. No its NOT. Its making me mad and angry that I listened to these people 😂😂😂 they must be arc readers for the author NO CAP
Fucking dnf this shit
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
“For more then a decade everytime I’ve fucked someone, I’ve thought about you” SOMEONE BLEACH MY EYES OUT I haven’t even read this book but from that one line I DONT WANT TOO YUKKKKK
Sorry, not sorry I didn’t like this book. I was very confused. She kept jumping around with people‘s names. I didn’t need seven different characters. Always speaking at once and the plot. She made it all about her problem with her mom and dad and it ended up being completely irrelevant. I’m sad because I liked her other writing . This book was really poorly written and some of the scenes were just uncomfortable to read.
I’m on the fence about this book, because everything I loved about it had nothing to do with the romance, which is a bit of an issue, when reading a romance book with no other storylines but the romantic one.
The found family vibe and the banter between the characters were absolutely fantastic. I had so much fun with the Langfield family and their friends. I dare you to find someone who wouldn’t wanna be a part of this family.
However, I didn’t love Aiden and Lennox’s love, right from the premise of it.
Let me get this straight - she was the absolute love of his life, yet when she left him, he NEVER made any attempts to reconcile, to get her back. Nothing, for a whole decade. Then, he saw her a year before the events in the book start, had a visceral reaction to her and still, did NOTHING about it, except getting engaged to a woman he was dating for over 3 years, in order to get his brothers off his back, because they were teasing him about still being in love with Lennox. Got it - he doesn’t care about her enough to actually try and be with her or he’s too brokenhearted to try again and chooses the cowardly way out.
Well, it all changes when he sees her again, in her office, where he shows up with his fiancée and Lennox turns out to be their wedding planner. Then Aiden suddenly has an epiphany, drops his fiancée and decides to win Lennox back.
Why? What changed? Why now? There’s no justification for his sudden change of heart. And from then onwards, nothing else makes sense either.
The whole reasoning behind their breakup before barely made sense even back then, if we were to believe they truly loved each other that much. However, it made absolutely zero sense in the present time. There was literally no logical reason for them to keep their relationship fake and make up rules about not catching feelings.
It was giving a middle school drama for the sake of drama and I’m way too old for that.
And why do some authors do this annoying thing of putting up an excerpt from the book as a prologue, giving us a sneak peek into some big moments happening later on? Why are you spoiling your own book for me?!
Anyway, it was a fun read, I did enjoy it, but no thanks to the plot.
I don’t know how or when this went wrong but this was marketed as a standalone. I always check out the author before I apply for ARCs and did not see this under a series (I see see this as book one though). The plot sounded adorable, the cover was beautiful and I really was intrigued by this book.
After reading the first page before the story even begins, I learn that this story is indeed part of a series. “But can read as a standalone”. I figured, okay, I’ll give it a real try and just focus on this main couple and their story.
Well, unfortunately for me, this cannot be read as a standalone. So many people entered the chat. Storylines from the past were introduced quickly. Relationships and friendships had already been established. I was truly LOST. I couldn’t remember who was who, who was related to who, who was married to who, who had kids, who was the Coach, who the characters meant for this book were, and so on.
It was hard for me to feel any connections towards anyone because it all just happened so fast. Their friendships and relationships already developed and so there was no need for deep introductions. I honestly didn’t understand why Aiden and Lennox hadn’t spoken in ten years but they’re in the same friend circle. I didn’t understand why the language felt more college than adulthood.
I really tried to look past the “this is from an interconnecting world” and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. For me, I wasn’t a fan of the writing. The plot/storylines were really cute. It captured my attention in the first place. It had potential. I just wasn’t a fan of the execution.
The initial reunion of these two was actually written really well. But then it fell flat for me. I felt like they promised no feelings but that lasted 5 seconds. It never felt like they were fake dating. The trust fund plot got lost. There was just too much going on that wasn’t needed.
I’m sure if you LOVE this series, you’ll love this. But from an outsider, I just could not randomly jump in this many couples and storylines later to enjoy this.
Aiden was cute at first. He is pining and literally took 2 seconds after seeing Lennox for the first time in years to dump his fiance. Okay, I get it. But then he just got obsessed and it was kind of a turn off for me. I didn’t enjoy the “I’ll act out a stalker romance” side to him, it was a bit cringe. Lennox had huge potential but her personality felt inconsistent for me. She wants no feelings involved but caves in two seconds for him and then it’s never addressed.
I definitely wasn’t a fan of the “sisters” talking in graphic detail about their husbands who are brothers in front of everyone. Like, that’s weird. Like I get they are all friends and apparently super close but like...too old to be acting that way. That was a huge reason as to why this felt more college age than older.
The end felt a little rushed and I felt like the carousel scene needed to really shine since it’s supposed to be this romantic thing. Then getting engaged and married just felt so quick and I don’t know…I wasn’t vibing.
I think things felt way too cheesy to me and I can handle cheese. I hate to keep repeating myself but I think for me it just came down to the tone and language.
I really wanted to give this a chance. I really wanted to enjoy this. The concept had potential but it just missed the mark for me.
This was literally the WORST book I have ever read. Anyone who posts about it on tik tok cannot be trusted. So many details of side characters that were not important. So confusing. And also sooooooo cheesy and cringe I could not handle it. This was a hate read for sure. I literally cannot express my disdain for this book enough. And im sorry the random breaking out in song and dance is not hot or funny it’s icky
ARC review: Wow, where do I even begin! Brittanee created the most beautiful couple whose love has truly shown through from the beginning. You want to be continuously giddy and smiling this book is for you!! This is one of my favorite second chance romances ever. It was so sweetly and beautifully written, I was completely smitten with both the MMC and FMC. It’s impossible not to love them. Spicy scene were top tier 🔥
"I was speechless. She's always done that to me. Steals the words right along with my breath."
You know I’m not usually a second chance romance girl but if Brittanee writes it I’m gonna read it. I really wanted Aiden’s story and once he went face first into that plexiglass seeing Lennox I knew it was going to be good.
I was so lucky to get an ARC for this book and I loved it. When Aiden saw Lennox again sitting across from him as his wedding planner he knew marrying Jill (ew Jill) wasn’t going to be his future. Lennox was. Ending his engagement he’s determined to make Lennox his. There’s some hijinks along the way, some fake dating, rekindled love and family secrets. As always highlights are seeing the Langfield brothers and their significant others featured a lot throughout the book. Sara and Beckett as always nail their cameos.
There was pretty hard hitting mental health issues in this but I found they were written really well and gave an insight into what happens in peoples heads behind the mask. Coz same 😅 I really love that we can openly talk about mental health and finally find representation or reflections of ourselves in the stories we read.
Brooks was my favourite brother but now I think it might be Aiden although maybe both in different ways 😂 I am so excited for the rest of this series and the romances that have been hinted 👀
4.5 ⭐️ 2 🌶️ This is my second Brittanee Nicole book and I was pleased to see it was just as captivating as the first one I read. I couldn’t put it down.
I was excited to read Lennox and Aiden’s story after Brittanee sort of started there story in Pucking Revenge - with Aiden crashing into the plexiglass on the ice when he saw Lennox. 🤭
As it turned out, they were high school sweethearts, and Lennox broke it off after graduation but Aiden didn’t know why all these years.
Aiden had gotten engaged - to an awful woman - despite his better judgement and showed up for their first meeting with their wedding planner and it turns out to be Lennox. After one look at her, he immediately knew he had to break off his engagement, which he does right after the meeting literally in the elevator before it even hits the ground level.
Cue a rekindling of friendship and romance, with a fake dating scenario that naturally turns into more.
There’s a great representation of depression in this book, done tastefully and respectfully. I appreciate the normalization of people taking meds when they need them.
The story was beautifully written and made you just fall in love with Aiden and how much he loves and cherishes Lennox. Once again, the side characters are just as swoony and I need to track down Ava and War’s book that I’m sure exists or is about to.

Aiden is actually the sweetest and most golden retriever MMC I’ve ever read😚🫶🏼 he made this whole story with how caring and considerate he was. Real life definition of if he wanted to, he would!!
That’s it; that’s my review🤠 sorry guys I’m in a review slump🥲
This book is AMAZING, I had to take a day to reflect on the masterpiece I’ve read.
This book will make you laugh out loud, make you swoon and it will make you emotional. It's a perfect combination that will take you on an amazing journey.
I couldn't put this book down, I was obsessed right from the start.
Aiden is the perfect combination of swooning, possessive and dirty mouthed. I was already in love with Aiden from previous books, but now I am obsessed. How he loved Lex, how he worshipped her, he loved her since their first kiss and he wasn’t afraid to show it to get her back.
How depression and anxiety are approached in this book was extremely relatable, she described so many of us who put a mask to the world, but struggle alone in the darkness.
Lennox was such a relatable character, I felt in love with her easily. She was a bright light. It was amazing to see her growth throughout the book. She is a strong, fiery FMC who will make you cheer for her.
Now to the best part. The spice 😏🔥 Nobody writes a sweet man with a dirty mouth like Brittanee 👌🏻 This man was dirty, delicious, and unhinged. He is the perfect book boyfriend, making all Lennox book fantasies come true. 😮💨🔥

✨️ This was the first book I've read by Brittanee, but it will definitely not be the last! I truly enjoyed this book. I mean, what's not to love? First of all, both of the MCs are so lovable, they were totally made for eachother. Aiden though 🙌, I LOVE a golden retriever boy with a dirty mouth 🥵. He is obsessed with Lennox, and I'm here for it. There is some mental health rep in the book, and I felt that this made the book and characters even more relatable. All in all. If you like a hockey romance, second chance romance, and/or fake dating story, I'd definitely recommend you give this a read! It'll be released 9/12.
Thank you to Brittanee Nicole and The Author Agency for allowing me to read and review!
Aiden and Lennox - ugh I loved this book so much!! It was sweet and it was emotional. I loved seeing how their story played out. From high school sweethearts, to not seeing each other for 10 years. The moment Aiden sees Lennox again, he just knows she's his end game and will do anything to win her back.
I absolutely love these Langfield men 🤭 this one had me feeling alllll the feels. Aiden's story is a little heavy and the mental health issues were done so well in this. I'm so glad he found himself back with Lennox after all the years apart. She is definitely his person.
"Never have I ever gotten married" 🫠 This moment right here, made me so damn happy.
The Langfield sibling banter is my favourite 👌🏼 always a guaranteed laugh and love all the family grout chats. Overall another great read by Brittanee, looking forward to reading the next one.
Brittanée Nicole does it again! I devoured this book in 24 hours! I absolutely love the Langfield boys! This one had me feeling ALLLLL of the feelings. Aiden’s story really hit home and I loved watching this one play out! I didn’t want it to end! Definitely love me a hockey romance 🤤 but I also love the other life message in this one! I can’t wait to read more from Brittanée ❤️ #bookstagram #brittaneenicole #hockeyromance #hockeyboy #mentalhealthmatters
Holy amazingness how is it possible that the Langfield brothers just keep getting better? I loved Beckett and his pining for Liv. I swooned hard for Brooks and his love for Sara. I don't think I have ever loved a story as hard as I did Gavin and Millie's. But then Brittanee was all, HOLD THE PHONE ANOTHER PERFECT MAN COMING YOU WAY. And boy did she ever deliver.
Because, Aiden you guys. Aiden freaking Langfield. We've loved him since we first met the Langfields in Mother Faker. We've loved his songs and his jokes and his magnetic golden retreiver cheer. But we had no idea what was hiding beneath that cheerful exterior because you guys, our man is oceans deep. There is so much going on under that bubbly surface, and what he needed was his high school sweetheart Lennox to help him understand that it was safe to show the world all the parts of him.
Holy moly did I love Aiden and Lennox together. A second chance romance is always a good idea, and there wasn't one single thing that wasn't completely perfect about this one. I love how neither of them had ever moved on from each other, despite being separated by years and distance. I love how they came back to each other during a crossroads in each of their lives. I love how it was never fake for either of them. I love how well they understand each other, giving each other exactly what the other needs - they are "you complete me" personified and I am so here for it. And I love how they both are safe enough with each other to be their whole entire selves, knowing that their hearts and the deepest parts of themselves will be protected. Their love is an epic one. I devoured this book and I never, ever wanted it to end.
And because no Boston Sports book would be complete without all the characters that make this world one of my very favorites in all of romance world, we got all the perfection that comes with Beckett's matchmaking hijinks, Gavin and Millie and Brooks and Sara being amazing, spectacular Finn one-liners, A CHRIS/AVERY/PUFF CAMEO OMG. And we got some little tidbits of what's to come in the rest of the series. And the epilogue? I DIE. Never have I ever read such perfection in all my life.
As long as Brittanee is writing, I'm reading. And I hope she writes this series until the end of time, because this is one world I never want to be without.
I thought I knew Aiden Langfield… I think we all did… but this man had so much hidden depth to him, I didn’t expect this one to be as emotional of a read for me as it was, but I loved every single second of him.
Lennox and Aiden are the best example of right person, wrong time, and I absolutely adored seeing them get their happily ever after.
Also this man dumps his fiancé the SECOND Lennox is back in his life and that level of he falls first and hard is exactly what I want in my romance.

Brittanee really can do no wrong. I eat up every single one of her heroes like they are my last meal, and Aiden was no different.
I love a good second chance romance and this was one of the best ones I’ve read in a bit. He was so gone for Lennox and when they got it together and talked out their issues. I was all in my feels.
I loved how kinky this man was for her and as always “piercings” bring everything up a notch h I. The best ways.
I also loved and appreciated the care taken on Aiden’s mental health struggles. I think it’s a good reminder to check on your happy friends, the ones that always light up a room, because they may be having trouble starting their own flame. I felt so seen and so emotional over Aiden’s journey and I loved every minute of it!
“Obsessed. A bit crazy. And determined as anything to make her mine.“
“The man slathers it on like butter on a biscuit. My biscuit. And dammit if I don’t want to have my biscuit and to eat it too.”
“Aiden Langfield was the sweetest boy that ever existed. He loved me enough in those few years to last me a lifetime.”
Never have I ever loved a man so much! IYKYK!
Aiden Langfield has secured the top spot. I don’t make the rules it’s just the way it is. Britt, you have done it AGAIN!
This book was so special, I wanted to jump inside and just hug this sweet sweet man & Lennox so bad! This second chance at love is everything 😭 Ugh. I laughed, I cried, I swooned & sweated 🫡
Me🤝🏻Langfield brothers. For life.
Thank you so much to Britt and the author agency for the opportunity to review this ARC. It was everything!

Content Warnings from Storygraph:
Guess what? Stephanie is reading another sports romance and another shocking statement, I loved it!!
This book is a hefty book coming in close to 500 pages and for some reason I just was breezing through it. I was smitten from the very start when Aiden sees his first love for the first time in a decade and then the fun begins!
As a romance reader, I love when authors use the trope of "boy obsessed" and in this one Aiden made it very clear time and time again how much Lennox meant to him. "I remember everything, Lex. When it comes to you, every detail is tattooed on my brain." Like SWOON! I highlighted so many liners that Aiden said proclaiming his love for her. There was a moment later in the book when they are living together and fake dating when he comes to their apartment as he was traveling with the hockey team just to give her a hug because she needed it. Female authors just know how to write their male characters. Lennox was so adamant on not wanting to be in a relationship but throughout the book Aiden chipped away at that wall she built up.
I have never read this author before but holy moly she can write the hell out of a sex scene! The blushing that her words caused me as I was reading. I will say though Aiden's roughness surprised me as he came off so sweet during their interactions but behind closed doors he was a whole other animal.
"I'm stupid in love with you, Lex. I always have been, There's no reason for you to ever be jealous or insecure."
I thought the author did such a great job highlighting depression for Aiden's character. I follow sports and I often think how hard it must be for these athletes to perform and that on top of any other mental illness can make life challenging. I like how Aiden opened up towards the end with his depression and started that dialogue to learn he wasn't alone.
This book is a first of a new series BUT a lot of the characters were from prior books which is explained as the characters were introduced so this does work as a stand alone for that reason. I'm anxious to see who the next book is going to be about since Aiden was the last brother to get a book.
PS - It's been awhile but there was KARAOKE featured in the book!
I was not ready for Aiden Langfield and the way he rocked my world but ooh am I not mad at it in the slightest.
This story- while fun, entertaining and bedazzled with some heat 😉 it also was so touching and relatable as it deals with the stigma some place on mental health and the very true nature of depression. So proceed with care if this is a triggering topic for you.
Hockey Boy is the first book in the Boston Bolts hockey series by Brittanee Nicole but it is also Aiden's story so we get all the other Langfields in the mix too. If you haven't met the other Langfield brothers- what are you waiting for?! I do really suggest reading those books first just because the brother and their better halves are all very prominent in this story and the little teases from them will make much more sense. I will admit that I was a little nervous about how this story was going to play out- Aiden and Lennox were childhood sweethearts. A decade has passed and Lennox is still trying to figure out her place in the world when she ends up being Aiden's wedding planner. I was nervous about how the time together was going to bring them together and if there was going to be a possible "emotional" kind of cheating happening but Brittanee did these two good. And of course it helped that Aiden's fiance was so unlikable that I was glad to see her go. Lennox is still set against starting things with Aiden again- but circumstances make force them together. Aiden is ready to play the long game- even if there's the chance he may get his heart broken all over again.
I really loved Lennox Kennedy- she is bright, vibrant and so loving to those that have made their way into her circle. On the other hand she still struggles in wanting and receiving acceptance and support from her parents without falling into their manipulation and being used as a pawn in their business dealings. The more I got to "see" inside of her mind the more perfect she was for Aiden.
Aiden... oh my goodness, I didn't think I could love him any more than I already did when he was just this goofy good time guy that still followed his big brothers around like a puppy but I absolutely adore him. He still is absolutely this fun and outgoing driving force for his family and teammates but getting to peek behind that facade to the struggles he kept everyone shielded from- just goes to show you can never truly know what a person is dealing with even if they have the brightest smile in the room.
I really can appreciate the care and respect Brittanee used when bringing depression into the storyline. She gave voice to a struggle so many have and did it in a way that didn't make light of the disorder but hope that sharing the struggles or seeking help isn't shameful or a failure in any way.
I'm so excited to see how this series continues with some of the other main guys on the Boston Bolts team!
Hockey Boy was my first book by Brittanee and won’t be my last. I love a good sports romance and this was everything I needed and more.
The Langfield Brother banter, support they have for each other and all the poking of each other provided so much entertainment. And let’s not forget the wives of the brothers and girl gang they’ve formed. Such a close knit loving group rooting for each other and all their successes!
Te blend of emotion, angst, spice and endless banter created a fun filled atmosphere from start to finish.
Aiden, the MC “Hockey Boy” really brought us so many layers with mental health, the lovable people pleaser to my favorite, the entertainer. Trust me, you’ll want to read this one for his version of single ladies!!

If you’ve read Brittanee before, you’ll know what to expect but this may be her best one yet. It feels like I’ve been waiting for Aiden forever so I was very excited to dive face first into this one and it exceeded my expectations. I did not expect to get so FEEL as much as I did while reading this, but alas tears were shed, along with some unladylike snorts escaping and a whole lot of feet kicking giddiness.
Aiden + Lennox’s story is a heartfelt, emotional, witty second chance romance with some serious steam. I was completely invested in these characters, their reunion and the journey to their happily ever after right from the beginning.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: second chance romance, pro hockey, wedding planner, curvy fmc, boy obsessed, fake relationship, langfield text banter.
Aiden has been my fave side character throughout previous books and he’s firmly my favourite Langfield. He’s the happy brother who’s always singing, joking and making everyone laugh but it’s a mask. Beneath the surface he’s been struggling and I could relate so much to his struggles. His mental health journey was beautifully done, it was realistic and relatable and I loved how it shed a light on mental health within sport.
Lennox is the girl you want as your bestie, she’s strong, sassy and obsessed with everything pink. I loved seeing her friendships with the gals in this series and her journey of finding herself, her purpose and ultimately her home.
They were high school sweethearts but it’s been a decade since and there’s still unanswered questions and some hurt there. However the moment Aiden see’s Lennox again he knows she’s always been the one and made it his mission to show her they belonged together even if it was under the pretence of it all being fake. He was sweet and patient, never rushing her while always showing up and reminding her why they’re so good together. I enjoyed how their shared past was revealed with them facing it together to overcome it and move forward.
We get the incredibly witty Langfield sibling banter we’ve come to expect from Brittanee which had me in fits of giggles while these men also had me swooning over how down bad they were for their girls.
I’m looking forward to what’s next, with Brittanee leaving us plenty of breadcrumbs…
The Length or books are always 5 stars for me. They have the right balance of great story, spice, comedy and heart warming loveliness that just hit right. Gotta love a Langfield and their devotion to their women. Lennox is an awesome pink princess and Widen didn't disappoint in his story either!
