So...I read the first book a few years ago. And I hated it.

- Deja is a typical Mary Sue character: no real flaws, getting everything without working for it, everyone loves her instantly, not proactive despite it being HER series and tragic backstory.

- All the characters are carbon copies of each other with no real personality.

- The "villains" of the series have personalities but are so cartoonish that it is laughable.

- The big reveals are...interesting.

- We are supposed to view Deja and Xavier relationship as loving and perfect. In reality, Xavier comes off as a stalker and Deja comes off as little better than Bella Swan and a gold digger. Well, Jade comes off as a gold digger too since I still don't get a sense she and Jay LOVE each other.

- The less about Kai, the better.

- The series focus on designer clothes instead of building characters, scenery, tensions, plots, chemistry...nothing.

Despite the series being bad, I like it.

It's a pretty damn good series.

Look, this book is not a masterpiece, but it is a quick, escapism read that will make you laugh unintentionally. The series will take you away from the bullshit for a few hours. It is not meant to be realistic. It is not meant to be politically correct. It is meant to help you escape and relax. To place you in a world that is bizarre and a "glamorous" verison of the "life" without being about the "life."

It is a guilty pleasure.

Plus, I love the villains. I feel the villians make the book better. Latasha is such an evil, fucked up character and she knows it. She lives in her badness.

I love how she wants to make Deja's and Xavier's life a living hell. She was the one character I was rooting to win because I can't stand the main characters. Would I hate Latasha in real life, hell no. But since the book is an escapist fantasy, yes, hell yes.

I love the book. It is a campy, bad, hot as mess that keeps me entertain. I will give Sutton credit for knowing her audience and abilities. She is a creative person who keeps her audience entertain. And that is a good thing. While most authors (e.g. Anne Rice) piss off their audience, Sutton keeps them thrilled!

I recommend the series. It is a fun read that will take you out of life and make you laugh unintentionally.

Exciting Read

Wow! This is the best series I've ever read. Don't judge this series by it's cover. I gotta say, I thought it was just gonna be a love story. But how wrong was I? This series is about love, family, friendship, enemies, lies and deceit. It is full of drama and murder. Just when you think you know something, you find that you don't really know. Parts one and two were good but It was just setting the stage for all the shxx to come. You will be already sucked in. Part 4 Is where things start popping off. It could have ended there but oh no there's more to come. Part five had me on the edge. I was excited. The characters are typical yet original you'll love some and hate some but Will feel like you know them. I am so glad I found this. I had a hard time putting it down but it took me only about five days to finish. I highly recommend this box set and will be looking for more by this author. I'm also excited to know there's more to come. You must read this, there are no boring moments here.

I loved all five books the series was so exciting it kept me on my toes. I love the charters stories I hope to read more . I might be interested in reading more about Kai even though I didn't like the way ended things on a personal note. I most definitely would love to see more of Jade and Jay because they actually are my favorite couple . Also I would love to see what Izzy found for Kai . Great read good job Tajanna Sutton

This series was amazing. Deja went through too much growing up. Xavier was just the right guy for her. Along with them are Deja's best friend Jade and Xavier's cousin/best friend. These two couples deal with a lot of good and bad things along the way in their relationships. Deja's cousin Kai comes along in the story in a crazy way.I don't won't say how. You have a lot of craziness in the book. You have people that are supposed to be dead. Sorry can't say no more.
