Giving this one 3.5 stars. The mystery is good and the story well-written but keys to solving the mystery were withheld from the reader on several occasions. Since trying to solve along with the MC is part of the fun, it feels like the author's not playing fair when the reader is kept in the dark. This is the first book in the series but there are a couple of references to a case the MC solved before. Makes me think this is the first published but not the first written. Perhaps a novella prequel? I like the characters, especially Kelly and Michael, and the setting. I will read the other two books in this new-to-me series.
I found this book in my stash and decided to read. It was a good read for someone stuck in the house. Kelly is a radio host on a Caribbean island when people start being killed. I guessed who did it but it why.
(from Tor) OK... well written. But unlike her idol Agatha, this author does NOT drop any clues. Instead, you get the heroine whispering, "I think it may be that person," and the other guy says, "I'll check it out." NOTHING appears til the last page that tells you who, what, or why. Too pat, by half.
I spent most of this book wondering if I was reading the series out of order. It reads like a second book because it refers to a previous incident in which Kelly solved a problem but no further details are given. It's an okay book but I prefer her writing as Kate Borden better.
