L.C. Pye is a debut YA fantasy author, who just published her first novel, The Calling, this year. Which was ranked as a #1 bestseller on Amazon.
L.C. has spent her adult years searching for her calling in this life, always jumping from one new adventure to the next, never sure if it was what she was supposed to be doing. That was until one night, when she was given a dream that she knew had to be written down and shared with the world. Now that dream has become a physical book and has started her along this journey of being a published author.
Currently, she lives in South Carolina with her husband, little boy, and fur baby named Ollie. She is also working hard on finishing book 2 by the end of the year, and she can't wait to share it with her anxious readers!
“Life is too short to go around thinking nothing is ever going to work out and that everything will fall apart.”
The Calling is such a quick and clean series to dive into. The Choosing was another good installment. I remember reading the first two and wanting to read this one immediately. They are simple and don’t go very deep, but fun to read without much thought. I will say that the slow burn is excruciatingly slowwww… but I’m here for it. Also, I gotta admit that Talia got on my nerves a little, she just does not listen. And for goodness sakes, I need Raph to learn how to communicate better. Other than those things, this read was enjoyable and I look forward to the next in the series to see if all the loose ends get wrapped up. Would recommend, if looking for a light, clean and quick read.
All I can say is WOW!! I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for The Choosing, and after reading books one & two, I didn’t know how the story could get better! But let me tell you, it DOES!!
The Choosing is filled with so many great POVS!! I loved hearing from Jules & Kasper, the villain POV was so so fun to read, and how the story flowed so so well. The plot twists, the tension between Talia and Raph has me begging for more every time. The book is written so perfectly, the pacing of events is absolutely incredible and it felt like I was in Aydencia in my mind with the level of describing. I was so happy to have Hafsa & Nadav back, I missed them in book 2!! I did not expect the ending, it’s an absolute cliff hanger!!!!! I cannot wait for the finding, thank you so much LC PYE!

So thankful to L.C. Pye to allow me to be an ARC reader. We started right where the second book ended and kept going until the very last sentence. The second half of the book is so fast paced and really held my interest. My only complaint is that I wish the book was slightly longer and spent more time in a few new areas we discovered in this book. I love the dual romance action happening and multiple pov’s and can’t wait for the fourth book!
So thankful for my ARC copy! I devoured this book. I loved this one even more than the first two...they just keep getting even better and better! I am so thankful for a good, clean fantasy-type read. The romance was so well done...I could even use a little more. But the tension is definitely there. LC still does a great job of giving you romance and tension that makes you keep your feet and want more without being explicit. The pace of the book was perfect. I didn't feel like it lagged at all and was fast-paced. The POVs were just enough to give you glimpses into other storylines and parts of the story without being confusing. Gil & Raph are two great book boyfriends I am now adding to my list. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Alon. Do you trust him or no?
I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series so far! The characters easy to love, and love-to-hate in the villains' case. The relationships, friendships and politics are enough to keep you wanting more. I appreciate that this is a clean fantasy that in no way diminishes any part of the story. The pacing and slow-burn romances are very well done.
Something else I am very happy with as a reader is that there are so many different roles for the characters. Talia has a different strength than the regular 'stab as many enemies as you can' female main characters that are seen far too often in fantasy. That extends to the other characters. It's so nice that they have real human limits and can't take down 50+ people alone. They rely on each other. Very well done, cannot wait for the next installment!
Absolutely stunning addition to The Calling series! I loved the multiple POVs, dystopia setting, and character growth. In addition the multiple romances made for an intriguing plot. Talia's struggles with the Northern Rebels over priorities made for an interesting story. I was hooked from the beginning to the end and cannot wait until the next book. From Gasmere to the Northern Rebels Camp the settings were diverse and unique. Each character developed in their depth, and you as the reader feel as if you right there with the characters. If you are looking for a fun, fast-paced, dystopian clean romance than this is the series for you. If you have not already make sure you read Book 1 The Calling and Book 2 The Finding first. I highly recommend this fantastic novel to all adventure seekers, dystopian fans and romance seekers!

I read this book in less than 12 hours! I read the first two back to back about a year ago, and since then I have been waiting very hard for this one to come out! And it did not disappoint!
I adore this author and I just love everything about this series! Each book so far has left my dying inside to read the next one!
Since I read this on my kindle, I didn’t realize it was the last page until I turned and saw that it was, and I literally screaming inside! I literally cannot wait for The Rising!
I 100% recommend this series to everyone!
It’s low fantasy (no magic) with adventure and a bit of romance and is completely clean! (no smut or profane language)
Number one complaint with this book: it’s too short. I need more!!
Really though there’s so much to love about this series and The Choosing specifically. The author has definitely continued to grow and improve in her writing. Great characters that are believable and distinct. Multiple POV can some times mesh into one voice where they all feel the same. Not so here. Each character has a unique voice.
I read The Choosing in one day. I couldn't put it down and already can't wait for the next book. I loved it and only wished it was longer so I didn't finish it so fast. I felt like it had the perfect amount of twists and turns to keep you engaged and questioning how it was going to end. The romance side of the story evolved enough to keep readers from getting bored but still leaves you wanting more and excited to see how things will progress in book 4, all while remaining tasteful. The opening to book 4 was the perfect cliff hanger to get readers excited and counting down for the next release date. Overall, it was a great book and series.
Book 3 in the calling series did not disappoint! There’s adventure, growth, humor, & devastation.
Using 4 POVS (Talia, Raph, Jules, & kasper) we dig deeper into new territories, feelings and destinations alike.
Character development continues to be amazing in this series! Talia is growing into herself and finding her voice/strength to over come the twists and turns that are being thrown at her.
Speaking of twists and turns, I actually have no idea who I trust anymore 😂 Gonna be anxiously waiting for book 4 to answer that!
Oh, LC! The wait was so worth it! I ate this book up. It's super fast-paced and left me not wanting to put it down. I was hooked, to say the least. The story was so good, and I fell in love with Raph and Talia even more than I already was. Gil, is that character that everyone loves, and he's so sweet, and I love him so much. That ending, though, book 4, needs to come super fast! I'm forever a fan of yours and super excited to see where the next book goes. ♥️ and can we just stop and admire the cover for a while
great book!! prince kasper brought me deep despair and anguish every time i had to endure a scene with him, and i thoroughly hope he and his father are put in their place soon.
raph, please learn to communicate better. this miscommunication is painful. you also need deep therapy.
talia, please think things through and use context clues 🫡
gil… love yah pooks!!! 🥰😘
alon… get out of here.
no but seriously this series has been great and i cannot wait for the next book

When so many series peak and then plummet, this series is continuing to get better and better. The plot is good, the characters and their development is excellent. There’s no silly, super avoidable situations that leave plot holes. The romance is perfectly done and CLEAN which is so hard to find on YA.
Uhh once again I NEED the next book. The writing, the speed, the characters all have me hooked in the best way. I adore Talia and really want to see the development for every other beloved character. Her desire to protect her family through this book is so fierce and the way she finally grows into her role at the end has me on the edge of my seat. The SLOW burn romance has me swooning. The growth of Gil and his eyes for sweet, strong Jules makes me adore their plot line even more. I knew there was something deeper to these rebels and loved finally getting a taste of the depth in this book. The academy is such a cool concept I love and love seeing in a clean book where I don’t have to worry about spice.

So I just finished about an hour ago. I had to marinate on it for a bit lol. It was AMAZING!!! The character growth is phenomenal. The growth the author is showing with her story telling is so refreshing to see. Sometimes you get a sequel or a trilogy and they get boring by the middle of the second book but this is the third and I'm screaming for number 4 already! Talia is no longer my favorite character though I'm loving Jules and Gil. I'm hoping they're headed in the direction I'm thinking and there's more of them in the next book. Maybe even a spin off??? I'm here for it all.

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book and I enjoyed it so much! The book carries on right where book 2 ended which I love and I love the journey this book took us on. I loved the new areas we got to explore (the world building and descriptions were incred) and I loved the multiple romance plots and povs! It was super interesting hearing from Kaspers pov in this book which is something new from book 2 and I’m excited to see where things go with his character, and I really enjoyed Jules’ pov and her character development in this book! I just wish the book was a little longer and we got to spend a little more time in this new area we’ve been introduced to but I’m sure we’ll get more in book 4! The cliff hanger has me geared up for the end of this series, I’m so intrigued as to where this story will go!
This book was so incredibly fun to read!!! I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy and oh my gosh was I excited. Though this does not effect my review I’d like to thank LC Pye. The amounts of questions upon questions that this book makes you ask is crazy! You can’t trust anyone and the slow burn makes you crazy!! Definitely try out this series
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOWOW. I have not been able to just sit and read a book lately, but every time I enter the world of Landore I eat it up. I read this on kindle as I wait for my physical copy to come in and I didn't even realize I was on the last page until I swiped, my mouth dropped to the floor at the thought of having to wait for the final book to come out to get closure. The book and this series in general is very refreshing and such an easy and entertaining storyline. The only thing holding me back from rating any of these books a 5 star yet is that I wish they were a little longer, they dug a little deeper into certain aspects of characters or plot points. The multi point of views in this one was great, Raph by far is my favorite as he's such a dense but deep character that we know very little of, being able to be in his head, I love. I understand why he reacted that way in THE scene with Talia because it logically makes sense, but emotionally it is so angering. I love that Talia put her parents safety above all else, but at times her stubbornness got on my nerves just A LITTLE. She would not do anything or listen to anyone and put people in danger because of it. Like on Ch 29 when she wouldn't listen to Raph or the one before where she would not stop asking questions, other than that love it. I get the fact that she likes to know and understand, but sometimes you just need to take action. OMG also the Alon plot was so crazy. When we first met him he felt like this wise fatherly type figure and to discover what he did was a little off putting. I cannot wait for the last and final book to come out !
ALSO after reading the first chapter of the next book I NEEEEEED NEED Talia and Ralph to figure out their relationship, I can’t stand how it left off. my heart cannot take it.
Let me begin by thanking you L.C for this journey through each book. The Choosing is my favorite out of all of them so far. The growth from each character in comparison starting in book one to now book three; they each are relatable on faults and insecurities in so many ways. I loved how you can connect to each character on some level. I especially enjoyed seeing Talia mature as she started understanding the bigger impact her choices had.
The romances and camaraderie between love interests and friends truly make you feel a part of their internal and external POVs.
It seems your not able to trust everyone and begin doubting the true intentions of ones you thought were in it for the "Greater Good". You start to wonder over time if Talia is being so stuck in her feelings and emotions towards what she thought she knew and to people she met not to long ago. The battle for what is right and true is a constant battle for her and it is starting to show to the ones she pushes away the most.
Lastly, I enjoyed the dynamic of the POVs. It seemed in the beginning of the book everyone was together and as the plot goes on and action unfolds, they separate on their own missions and struggles. Then at the end as everyone gets closer to each other. I loved the built up anticipation as the POVs changed in the end and bounced off each character as they all come together for the main mission. L.C, you are a master of this style of writing and look forward to the last book in the saga. Thank you for this amazing series.

The Choosing is the third installment in L.C. Pye’s The Calling series and my personal favorite so far. This story has been a wild ride that keeps me eager for more. Each character has their own unique voice and their storylines add so much.
The romantic tension between Raph and Talia was so perfect! “Heat ignited throughout my whole body and all I wanted to do was lean into her touch. For her to lift the weight that had been tied around my heart for years.”
The mysteries just keep getting more mysterious. Who can Talia trust? Warning: the ending is a cliffhanger that will leave you seriously upset with the author and desperate for the final book.
Ooh, and we hear from Kasper’s POV. I always love dark and brooding characters, but where does he stand? I almost wish he was a main character!
Content: Violence: mild to moderate, no gore Language: none Romance: clean, one kiss
I highly recommend this series to YA readers and also adults who enjoy a clean, fast-paced story.
**I received a copy of this book from the author for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
4.5⭐️ This was the third installment in L.C. Pye’s fantasy/distopian series, The Calling. And might I say, it was *chef’s kiss*!! I’ve been dying to read this book ever since the second one ended on a massive cliff hanger! The year-long wait was beyond worth it. Talia’s story keeps getting more and more interesting as we go along! And I love that we got to switch between four different viewpoints throughout the entire book. It was a great way to keep the story moving, keep you interested, and cover a lot of ground all at the same time!! We got to see more of Jules this go-around, which I really enjoyed. Her character growth has been great! And Raph and Talia’s relationship never gets old!!✨ Overall, a fantastic third book in the series and I’m pumped for the final installment! Can’t wait to read it!

Book 3 picks up right where book 2 ends and doesn't slow down. The story is fast paced and while we get answers to some questions, there is still so much to learn. Excited to see how this will play out in Book 4!!
“Are you really going to use my own dagger against me?” he asked, a flicker of amusement danced in his eyes.
“If I have to,” I said in a lowered voice. He leaned forward. The tip of the dagger pressed against his chest, but his focus stayed fixed on me. My whole body was on fire and for a moment I forgot why I was so upset.
“It’s your move, Princess.”

Such an AMAZING addition to this series!! This is book 3 of 4 in The Calling Series. This book picks up right where book 2 ended and it was so fun getting a new setting! This was such an amazing read and I loved getting to see Talia, Raph, Jules, Gil and all the other characters again!! The pacing was perfect and all the POVs kept you informed with everything going on!
I can’t wait to hopefully see more romance with Talia and Raph and possibly another couple! 🥰
The ending had me holding my breath and on the edge of my seat! So many secrets still left to uncover and I can’t wait to read the next one!!

Ahhhhhh!!!! I absolutely loved this book. I cannot wait for the fourth one 🩷. My favorite thing was reading through everyone’s points of view and giving Talia and Raph more of the love story they deserved. Raph definitely gave off Four vibes in this book and I love it. The story was fast paced the entire time and I didn’t want it to end. Dystopian and fantasy are two of my favorite genres and this book definitely met the standards for both genres. I wish it would’ve been a little more action packed but I believe the suspension throughout the book makes up for some of it. The character growth for Talia was done nicely she became more and more confident and assertive, it made her character more well rounded and helped carry the story. Can’t wait to see where the story leads next!
Reading The Choosing was an adventure in itself. I felt like I was a part of each group through the various POVs written. It felt darker or more serious than the two previous books but that makes sense as L.C. Pye is gearing up for the big showdown that must be happening next in book 4, The Rising. I honestly feel kind of wound up and ready to spring (if that makes sense) and really can’t wait to see what happens next. This series has been one of the best I have read in a long time and everyone should give it a read, especially if you like adventures. There is some romance developing but I love how the focus is still on the future of Talia, Jules and the rest of the Kingdom and the path to rescuing everyone.
Hmm, I was hoping for more from book 3. I think my initial thought when I finished was it felt like very little actually happened. I kept thinking we'd get more of Kasten's inner dialog and was hoping to see some softening in him. Unfortunately, he is still a complete mystery. Also, I'm just not buying Talia and Raph's supposed feelings for each other. They're so back and forth that it feels shallow even 3 books in. It's apparent book 4 will be a showdown with Madden both to overthrow and rescue those who were taken. I know how I hope it goes but we shall see. It has a lot of loose ends to tie up.
Note: I received this book for free as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Oh my gosh I love this series!!! I read it in 2 days! (Not 2 in a row, hence the large date gap) There are many hunger games/divergent references in this series. (I watched the movies to understand those references because I love the series so much!)
It is nearly impossible to talk about what I enjoyed in this book without spoiling anything but I am going to try. This book has a (VERY) slow burn romance, a mystery that continues to have new twists and turns in it, rescue missions, and adventures!
There is only one book left and I am ecstatic to continue the series and find out how everything plays out!
