Vito's story, Book 2 in the Marchesi Loan Sharks series:

Who knew a hockey game could change your life?

The first time I saw Zeke on the ice, I knew he was mine.

My brother said I was stalking Zeke, but I like to think of it as showing my appreciation. I pretended it was just a game, something to keep me occupied since my family didn't really need me.

The way Zeke searched the stands for me when he thought I wasn’t watching let me know he wanted me too, even if he wasn’t ready to admit it. One day he'd give in. That was inevitable.

He comes to me, needing a loan. The year he spent in Vegas wasn't kind to him, and he's in deep debt. He doesn't like the terms I offer and tries to walk away.

I'll never let that happen. He's in danger, and no one is going to hurt him. Not on my watch.

I knew I could make him surrender to me, but the more time I spend with him, the more I find myself revealing things I've never told anyone. Money problems I can easily fix, and I make a damn good bodyguard, but is it possible we might heal each other? Is it possible for two wounded men to fall in love?

Blood On Ice is the 2nd book in the Marchesi Loan Sharks series. This series like its predecessor (Marchesi family) is based on an organised crime syndicate and contains morally grey heroes, consensual non consent, stalking type behaviour, violent deaths etc. So if you're easily triggered by these, this is not a series you will appreciate.
Zeke is a hockey player who pretty new to the NHL and has fallen in to a particular bad habit, gambling. When we meet him he is under the delusion he can 'play his way' out of the hole he's in. Vito meets Zeke as he's still on his way to rock bottom, but Zeke refuses his advances.
6 months later Zeke has accepted a transfer to Boston in an attempt to out run his problems, but it becomes apparent the only way to solve them is to ask for a loan from an organisation he knows he should stay clear of. Add in the strange interest he is getting from a guy who has danger written all over him, he's stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Vito has become obsessed with Zeke since their initial meeting, but now he's in Boston - he intends to do something about it. He really shouldn't, he wants to prove to his family that he is capable of working on his own, but there's something about Zeke he can't leave alone.
With Vito on the hunt, and Zeke being hunted from 2 sides, who will come out on top on this game of 2 psycho cats and one tasty mouse.

This book is full of the psychotic 'touch him and die' Marchesi signature wooing / stalking we have come to expect from these mobsters. Zeke is well aware he's fighting a losing battle that he doesn't even want to win. But when it becomes apparent that a true psychotic killer has set his sights on Zeke, will the Marchesi guys be able to keep him safe while Vito wins his heart?

Nice additional romance in the Marchesi's universe.
Vito was obsessed with Zeke (like usual with the family)
Quick closure, and easy ending😁
Just shot the bad guy, to save another bad guy🤣🤣🤣
Debt collectors are only fun to read in the book, not in real life.
Now what's going on with Dom?
We'll see.

A quick cute mafia romance.
Not gonna lie, I skimmed a lot. This is, dare I say, not dark enough for me 😁. But very enjoyable 🖤👍
Plus... Hockey 🏒😉🙃

We really do belong together.
Fuck yeah we do.

📒2.2 only cuz i love Vito. Else 0 stars. Read 10th July, 2025.

This was supposed to be my favourite cuz VITO. But i feel like Vito’s story got robbed of any spice. There was only 2 scenes and it was abysmal. 😭 And it has dl elements which i disliked a lot. i would’ve really DNF-ed had i read it and i feel deeply betrayed that Vito’s book turned out this bad. i wanna give it no stars but i can’t do that to him. Tropes at the end.

Zeke’s a hockey player who has a gambling addiction and has borrowed a lot of money from the Marchesies. When Vito is told to collect the debt, he finds he’s already been stalking Zeke since forever.

The good parts:
❥ Michael dean's narration. But this time it got a bit confusing since both Vito and zeke have heavy set voices. Zeke is deeper voice tho.

❥ i knew i’d love Vito ever since i met him in Val’s book. Clearly he’s my favourite nutjob! Like Lance!! 😃 And he’s pan (not explicitly specified but he had no preference before Zeke)!! OMG

❥ i love a good stalker story and Vito is one of those “enters his apartment” type! Absolutely love it! And the scene that follows. Naughty voyageur!! 😏

Soooo obsessive. This is what an obsessed stalker looks like. Damn Vito!

Insta lust!! Vito just knows Zeke is his! The entire series is like that! 😃

❥ This has “voice in my head” thingy. The mind says, “Call your brother.” And stuff like that! It was the same for both of them.

❥ And this is where they bonded. Over tragic family stories. Ubu 🥺

“You’re not alone. I’m here for you. And i’m sure your family is too.” -Zeke to Vito

❥ Glad that at least Zeke’s anxiety was that Vito might leave him once the bodyguard business was over and not anything dl related.

❥ THIS:

“Your game’s about to start, I just wanted you to know-”
“No. Where are you? I’m gonna meet you. I don’t care about the fucking game.”
“Zeke, you could lose your place on the team.”
“Vito’s more important.”

The worst parts:

♦ This has only 2 sex scenes and doesn’t happen till 62%. 1st one had good, responsive mcs. but 2nd one not a single sound from zeke. All tell and no show. And majority was all kinds of sex acts this time so i couldn’t read ‘em. 😕 So, this isn’t a spicy book at all imo. Just somewhat hot ig. The phone call head was hot though.
// i rate sex (intercourse) as separate from sex act. All my reviews reflect that and it's my personal preference. It may not be the same as yours.

This has slight dl elements. Couldn’t like Zeke at the beginning since he’s gay but dl kinda guy. i don’t like such people let alone characters. Took me a while to warm up to him since, halfway in and he still hides Vito so not even his team mates who know he’s gay, find out. He’s worried it might be a scandal. Ew. You can’t do that to my boy, no.

Tropes & tags: 📒tall mcs, 📒mafia x hockey player, 📒closeted gay x bi/pan, 📒stalking by mc, 📒obsessive mc, 📒make him food, 📒bonding over shared trauma, 📒found family, 📒protector x protected.

CW: kidnapping, murder on page, gun violence, injured mc.

3.75/4 stars – "Because I was made for you."

Blood on Ice, Book 2 of Silvia Violet's Marchesi Loan Sharks Series, was engaging. This second installment introduces us to Vito Marchesi, Val Marchesi's brother and a skilled debt collector, and Zeke Balogh, a talented NHL player battling his inner demons. The story touches on the complexities of obsession, family dynamics, and personal redemption.

As a new sports league rookie, Zeke accumulates debt after debt at the Vegas casinos and engages in a series of one-night stands, which his reputation suffers from as an out and proud player. His gambling spirals out of control, leading to injuries inflicted by debt collectors. Recently traded to Boston, Zeke hopes that joining a new team, a lack of gambling temptations, and a self-imposed celibacy will help steer him toward a successful NHL career.

Meanwhile, Vito is grappling with feelings of isolation and insecurity, largely due to the growing closeness between his brother, Val, and his partner, Liam. Vito, whose relationship with his father, Dominick, is strained, finds himself questioning his place in his family and the world. When he encounters Zeke in Las Vegas, an obsessive attraction begins to take hold. Vito's possessiveness grows as he silently stakes his claim on Zeke, even as he struggles with his inner turmoil.

The story alternates between Zeke's struggle to resist his attraction to Vito and Vito's relentless pursuit of Zeke. The tension between their desires creates a compelling push-and-pull dynamic that keeps the reader hooked. However, I would have appreciated more depth on Zeke's backstory, particularly his gambling addiction, the Vegas loan sharks, and the threats surrounding him. While we get brief glimpses into Zeke's family life—his mother and grandparents—their role in his story feels underdeveloped compared to the detailed look at Vito's family.

Blood on Ice is a story of two men seeking love in unconventional ways: Vito, driven by possessiveness, and Zeke, yearning for redemption. We also receive a teaser for the next installment in Book 3. Still, Vito and Zeke's story is a compelling placeholder that explores family dynamics and sets the stage for further adventures involving these complex Marchesi characters.

If you're a fan of mafia-themed romance filled with intense emotions and possessive love, Blood on Ice is a must-read. Also, the Bonus Scene is HOT HOT HOT, swing and all!!!!

I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy. This is my unbiased, independent review after reading it.
I will admit I like this genre and the author. The book was well written with no grammatical mistakes or typo's that I noticed- a pet peeve of mine.
I am a fast reader and completed this in two days, but it’s a good length, well written and the characters are believable, with detailed back stories and personalities. The story line and characters are outlined in the blurb when you look at the book, so there is no point repeating any of that, and I will not give any spoilers except that it’s an HEA that kept me on the edge of my seat in parts, and at some points I really didn't have a clue which way the story line would turn. Like the other books in the series, it’s not vanilla!
I would highly recommend this book, but suggest readers start with book one in the loan shark series, if not the whole Marchesi family books from the beginning. This was the first author I read when exploring the mafia genre of MM romances, and none of her storylines appear to repeat- in my opinion the sign of a good wordsmith with this many titles under her belt.
I have already pre-ordered the next one in the series. I started reading these in KU but have since bought all copies as eBooks and as many that are audio books to date. They are definitely in the "i can’t put this down yet" category and re-readable.

Silvia Violet is not a new to me author and there's a reason I keep coming back for more!  Silvia has done it again but with Val's younger brother Vito, and Hockey player Zeke.  I couldn't wait for Vito's HEA, he was my fav in book one and he was just as sweet if not sinful, funny, sexy and dangerous in Blood On Ice, book two of the Marchesi Loan Sharks series.

He's everything I love in a MC: loyal, obsessed, trust-worthy and full of passion.  Qualities that poor Zeke doesn't reciprocate (yet lol).  He's a young, impressionable hockey player, who like most, blew his money in Vegas.  In order to get out of one loan shark is to get under another, right?  It's all fun and games until bones start breaking and Zeke must take drastic measures, acquire a huge loan from the Marchaesis.  What he doesn't expect is seeing Vito behind the desk.   Zeke is not happy but that's okay because our Vito loves a challenge!

Book two is fun, I enjoyed every page!  Vito is still my favorite and I'm so glad he gets his HEA with Zeke, who gives as much as he gets.  I think he enjoyed playing hard to get!  I can't wait for book three, Dom is coming and I have a feeling, his story is gonna hurt in the best way possible!  Five stars for Blood On Ice.  Happy reading all!

Two TSTL naughty boys become simps for each other. Shenanigans happen. The end.

Really, this was a lot of fun! Marchesi family loan shark Vito (yep. Can't get more mafia than that!) goes to Vegas for the weekend, takes one look at in-debt to casino loan sharks and in danger NHL pro hockey player Zeke and thinks, Mine.

Proceeds to proposition him and get turned down, and lo, Zeke is traded to the Marchesi seat of Boston, where Vito proceeds to become stalker...uh, fan...number 1 and get his man.

Eventually.

There's danger from the baddies Zeke's in debt to, and more danger from the man he soon can't say no to, and a lot of mafia found family and family around.

I had a great time! There are a few TSTL decisions but hey, it's fun seeing Zeke also step up for his man, and these two wind up being a good match.

Don't think so hard!

HEA, mafia loan shark meets pro hockey player, some stalking, romantic suspense. NO others or OM drama romantically, just bad guys gunning for our heroes. I don't remember how much info there is on OM in the past--some for Zeke, who had a rep as a playboy but grew out of it, and not much if anything for Vito. Safe for me! Recommended, especially if you followed the original Marchesi series.

When family loyalty conflicts with a sudden attraction how does one do the right thing?
This is the 2nd book in this series and a great 2nd story. I've already read and loved Blood Money and Blood on Ice follows in the same vein. The power dynamics of the Marchesi family comes into play with Vito and Zeke. Lots of anxiety on Zeke's part because of his overboard gambling habits in Vegas and borrowing from the local loan sharks that puts him in way over his head. Vito was in Vegas, saw Zeke and his Wildcats tea in action and insta-action on Vito's part was the start of his pursuit. Zeke's trade the Boston Badgers hockey team where Vito sees him on the ice and reaffirms Vito's attraction, infatuation, and lust for Zeke. The Marchesi's loan business plays into Vito's hands to get Zeke out of his debt to Vegas and the chance for Vito to lure Zeke into his arms. This is an intense plot that shows Ms. Violet's writing talent and leaves this reader ready for whatever is next on the horizon for this series.

This is book 2 in the Marchesi Loan Sharks series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone read. This is the story of Zeke and Vito. Zeke is a professional hockey player and hasn't been handling the move to the NHL as well as he could. He gets in over his head with gambling while playing in Las Vegas. With his new trade to Boston, he plans a fresh start to ensure his NHL career is a good one. No hooks ups, relationships or gambling. Vito is Val Marchesi's brother and a skilled debt collector. Ever since he saw Zeke in Las Vegas, his obsession with him has grown. While his brother is calling it stalking, Vito thinks it is just showing his possessiveness. Because make no mistake about it, Zeke is his. Too bad he didn't ask Zeke. This is their story. The book is well written and easy to read. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. While not a conventional couple, Vito and Zeke make an unstoppable team. I enjoyed this book.

I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was another intriguing book in the world of the Marchesi family.

Vito Marchesi has an obsession with NHL phenom Zeke Balogh. When Vito is in Las Vegas on business, for his family, he catches a hockey game so he checks out Zeke in person. He tries to meet him at a bar after the game, but Zeke rebuffs him. Six months later Vito is presently surprised to find Zeke has been traded to Boston, and is in need of the Marchesi's help to settle a gambling debt. Needless to say, Zeke is shocked to find out who Vito really is.

Vito discovers that the people after Zeke to pay back his debt and the Marchesi family have something in common.

Can Vito and his family keep Zeke safe and take care of their own problem at the same time? Characters from other books are also in this book: Lucien, Angelo, Devil, Val and Dom. There is plenty of torture and mayhem to go around.

Looking forward to all the books that follow.

I love this series! It’s Vito’s turn to find love and his tale is quite the adventure! He’s got his eye on NHL player Zeke after spotting him in Vegas. Now in Boston, Zeke is with a new team and trying to overcome the mistakes of his past. He’s trying to get out from under the debt he accumulated and he ends up seeking out the Marchesi’s to help. That’s when he learns just who Vito is. Their relationship is a bit rocky at first but in the end, they will find that they truly are what the other needs. There is danger, of course, as the people Zeke owes money to are after revenge against the Marchesi family. Vito once again goes in alone and the whole Marchesi family will show up to save him. I love the chemistry between Vito and Zeke and the closeness of the Marchesi family and it all adds up to make this book an absolute must read!

When i applied for this arc i went back to beginning with the Marchesi series in the hope i got it! So glad i did as it reminded me what a brilliant cast of characters in this series. Loved this addition as we follow Vito and Zeke’s story. A different aspect with the sport element with Zeke. I loved how intense and determined Vito was wjen he saw Zeke. However things dont go smoothly as Zeke makes it clear he is not interested, though this is because he doesnt want to admit it! When Zeke has to resort to a loan from the Marchesi due to gambling debts he finds out who Vito is. An intense, hot, compelling relationship development as Vito is determined to protect Zeke and make him his.
I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review

Zeke is a hockey player who is playing in Vegas when he sees Vito for the first time. Fast forward 6 months and Zeke is now playing in Boston. He left Vegas as he had a serious debt owed for gambling. He sees Vito again in the stands and while he thought he was hot, didn’t want to pull him into his mess. Vito was captivated by Zeke the first time he saw him and knew that Zeke was meant to be his. This is the start of the story of how they worked together to get the baddies off Zeke to falling in love. Great world building, action, high heat and chemistry between these two. I cannot wait to read the next book as it is going to be a doozy.

I loved this story with the psychopathic obsession that Vito had with Zeke who grew in become just as into Vito. There was a lot of emotions and feelings in this story as we learnt more about both men. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

I love the Marchesi family! They are mafia but when it comes to family don’t mess with them. When Vito discovers Zeke it was chance but after their eyes connected he had to have him. Unfortunately, Zeke lived in another state. However chance brings them to the same city again. Vito starts to stalk him and Zeke is not happy. However when a chance meeting could potentially go really bad. Zeke realized he does need Vito.
Could this be love? Sylvia Violet has done it again and weaved a web where we want more.

In this book you dive back into the Marchesi family with Vito and Zeke’s story. Vito is introduced to the wonderful world of hockey by his cousins and sees Zeke play and decides he wants him. Vito stalks him for awhile and backs off when Zeke makes it clear he wants none of it. Zeke ends up in some financial trouble and goes to the Marchesi family for a loan and finds out who Vito is. Vito is determined to help Zeke and keep him safe. If you love intense relationships with high stakes this is the book for you.

The new story in the Marchesi Universe was gripping from the first page to the last, the sports and mafia storylines were well balanced and I enjoyed both. Vito and Zeke had an interesting relationship from the start. I really liked how it changed and developed throughout the book. I was very happy that we got to see more of the characters from the previous books and see how they interact with each other and with our MCs.
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

I received this book as an ARC. This is my personal opinion.

This was another thrilling installment in the Marchesi world. I loved Vito’s instant attraction to Zeke. The ‘He’s MINE’ trope that I love displayed quickly. As much as Zeke tried to fight the pull, these two are just inevitable. Of course, there is danger, which only added to the ‘touch him and die’ trope. Vito’s protectiveness was sweet and electrifying at the same time. Seeing other Marchesi favorites another big plus.

Another great edition of world building in what is a favorite ‘verse of mine. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I *love* me a good stalker story, so this one was a fun read from page one. We have mafia, hockey, stalker, MM—-SIGN. ME. UP. Vito and Zeke’s story is a little filthy and just enough depraved that you don’t have to worry about seeing a psychiatrist to figure out why you love this book. While the book has an HEA, the epilogue has me rabid for the next installment. Meanwhile, I’m off to read the bonus story because I can’t get enough of Vito’s over the top obsession with Zeke and Zeke’s responsiveness to Vito’s attentions.

Blood On Ice is the second book in the Marchesi Loan Sharks series. This is Zeke and Vito’s story. Zeke is a hockey player spiraling out of control. To escape his problems, he transfers to another team in Boston. But the problem just follows him. Not knowing what else to do, he seeks help from loan sharks, which reconnects him with Vito. A Marchesi, who has a deep attraction for the hockey player. It’s going to take all of the Marchesi family to help Vito and Zeke to escape their predicament. Loved it.

This started off ok, but I never really warmed up to this couple in any serious way. The sex scenes were meh (the control/aggression never really settled right). The rescue was unbelievable and anti-climactic and then the rest of it was fluff - skim skim. The best part of the book, to me, was the beginning when Vito was stalking Zeke. The sexual tension and anticipation were great, though Vito did strike me as a bit of an overgrown, impulsive child. I can do whatever I want....ok, Sir.

Having said all that, I am looking forward to Dom's book.

Zeke is a hockey player who partied and gambled too much and now owes some bad men in Vegas money. Vito is a part of the Marchesi Family who is obsessed with Zeke, watches him, follows him and wants him to be his. Then the possessiveness kicks in. This is the dirty, violent, spicy type of Mafia book the Marchesi's are known for and Vito is all Marchesi. Zeke can't resist the bad boy and neither can I. Silvia wrote another winner. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

NHL Hockey player Zeke finds himself with some pretty serious money problems due to some reckless gambling decisions.

Vito quickly develops a crush/obsession, watching/stalking Zeke.

Zeke needs help and Vito is right there to help, with his connections, money and protection.

Plenty of action and excitement with all the feels. Loved seeing more of the Marchesis family and seeing how nothing has changed for them.

Look forward to more from this great series.

I love me a mobster who stalks his man like the prey he is! Vito's obsession with Zeke warmed my heart. I am just that kind of girl. Zeke has dug himself a hole making bad decisions and now he has to get help from a dangerous family. Turns out he kind of gets lucky since Vito is not going to let anyone touch Zeke in any kind of way. Perfect amount of realistic danger and plenty of chemistry between these two men! All of the you are MINE vibes I could have hoped for.

'Blood on the Ice' is the second novel in the Marchesi Loan Sharks series. It doesn't sag like some second novels do. Silvia Violet kept the action and the steam going with Vito and Zeke. Vito is stalking Zeke and ends up helping him with his money and mobster problems. I think this is the first novel of Silvia's that I've read that has stalking, and she wrote it really well! Overall, it is a fast-paced and steamy read.

Story: 2.5/5.0
Narration: 4.0/5.0

I didn’t feel much of a connection to either MC or between the two of them. It’s a weird insta love between a submissiveish hockey player and a mobster. Both of the MCs are kind of fuck ups which also just isn’t hot. Vito monologues way too much about what a tough badass he is. Show me, don’t tell me. It gets boring, repetitive and isn’t believable.

I really didn’t love this one.

Another fantastic read in the Marchesi family series, I loved their explosive need for each other from the start and how drawn to each other they were. The danger Zeke could see in Vito's eyes and the absolute obsession Vito had from first sight. I wish there was a few longer steamy scenes of both the men showing dominance and submission to each other but the book was fantastic.
