When BAU Agent Sierra Parker's car dies in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, she breaks a critical rule by catching a ride with a kindly stranger. This decision leads her straight into the lair of serial killer, where she discovers she isn't the first victim. Dozens of barrels contain the remains of those who went before her, and none of them escaped. Can Sierra outwit the seasoned killer to save her life, or will she become the latest victim buried in a barrel? The last Agent Zeke London heard from Sierra was when she told him she needed to get away to figure things out between them. That was over a week ago and his calls have been met with radio silence. Can he do the impossible and locate Sierra in the middle of the mountains before it's too late? Find out in the next book in the Hallowed Halls Series!
USA Today Bestselling Author, Mary Alford, loves giving her readers the un-expected, whether it be in a rugged mountain setting or a peaceful Amish community. Her titles have appeared on the USA Today Bestselling List, Publisher’s Weekly Bestselling List, and have been finalists in the Daphne Du Maurier award of excellence, The Beverly, The Maggie, and The Selah Awards. Character development is at the heart of Mary Alford’s high-octane thrillers.
In the Hallowed Halls series, she has crafted relentless FBI agents, cunning and mysterious serial killers, and innocent bystanders, all of whom have a journey that’s compelling and stands up to the plot. Angel, The Embalmer, The Barrel Girls Killer and the Mysterious Mentor, T, have stayed with me long after I’ve finished each book. I believe that the perfect balance Alford creates between internal dialogue and actions adds to my enjoyment of her books. I appreciate the care she puts into her characters’ back story because it allows me to see where the character came from, understand motivations and empathize with the difficulty of the struggle.
In Seeking Evil, Alford takes two broken souls who’ve lived through nightmare days and shows us that with God’s love, they can still endure the arduous task of bringing a killer from long ago to justice. Sierra Parker has survived a kidnapping by a serial killer and is grieving the loss of her mother and Zeke has lived his own nightmare when his sister Hannah almost died ~ they’re no strangers to God’s grace. They find themselves relying on their faith and God’s intervention when things go awry in Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains.
“Sierra had come here to challenge herself. If she could climb Cirque of the Towers, then she could face the next evil to come her way. And possibly the end of her and Zeke’s story.”
I love the irony in the above quote! Sierra had come to challenge her endurance but she had no idea what was ahead of her on her road to climbing. It’s the emotional weakness of grief and relationship limbo rather than the physical/mental strength that Sierra needs to work through. Her training kicks in when her emotions fight to take over.
Alfred doesn’t hesitate to pull back the curtain on the darker side of personality, offering readers villains who we’d unabashedly assume are beyond God’s reach. In doing so, she reminds us that none of us are so unworthy that God can’t use us.
“The creature from his past reared its head again. It had pulled [him] back into the dark place he’d thought he’d escaped. Could he go back there? Was he ready to sink back into the world of the monster that had rested inside him?”
My brain must have been releasing copious amounts of adrenaline; it felt like every muscle in my body was stiffening with the tension, and my heart felt like it was galloping out of control. What a ride!
Mary Alford took me on a journey I’d never ever plan on taking and made sure I returned a changed person. I’ll never doubt the extent of God’s reach again.
My takeaway: Don’t let your guard down because evil is deceptive!
Evil is all around the mountains where Sierra Parker, BAU agent, goes to escape her private problems and ends up disappearing. When her team follows her there to try to find her and other missing climbers, they are desperate and determined, none more so than her almost-fiancé Zeke London. He is well aware that Sierra’s disappearance may be his fault since his indecision about their future together led her to this getaway to begin with. Following every clue, the team leaves no stone unturned, but there are so many possible suspects in the small town and time is running out to find Sierra alive. I really enjoyed the intensity of the suspense and the way the author skillfully misdirects with red herrings and false trails. This book is a brilliantly written page-turner, with a captivating plot and realistically flawed characters. The plot is tight and crackles with tension as the scenes shift from Sierra to her rescue team, both fighting to find the truth. The characters were believable and easy to cheer for in a remarkably fast-paced book that brought all of the many threads together seamlessly in a head-spinning, twisted conclusion. With a strong message of hope and faith and a satisfying look at investigation procedures, this book is one of the best and most compelling romantic suspense books that I have ever read. Disclaimer I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
Wow! This book takes you so many places-one of which is a serial killer’s mind. So many things going on in this story, and if you think you have it figured out, guess again. The story pulls you in from the beginning. I was given a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.
Seeking Evil was a story that kept me guessing. I mean, the prologue had my jaw-dropping!!
Zeke and Sierra's story was just as exciting, if not even more so, as the other 2 books in this series. The twists in this story were crazy. And every time I thought I had the serial killer figured out, I was totally off base. But the ending, that totally shocked me. I wasn't expecting it at all!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, and this is my honest review
Seeking Evil is an intriguing, captivating addition to the Hallowed Halls series. A deadly duo of serial killers is targeting young female mountain climbers in the Wind River Mountain Range near Pinedale, Wyoming. When FBI agent Sierra Parker goes missing, along with another climber, the BAU team pulls out all the stops to find them and stop the madness! I was immediately drawn in by the prologue which reveals one of the killers and offers insight into his troubled mind and dark past. The ingeniously plotted, highly suspenseful storyline kept me guessing and then finally gasping and shaking my head in disbelieve when the second killer was revealed. Skillfully crafted, memorable characters create strong emotional connections and enhance the story’s impact. The troubled romantic relationship between Sierra and Zeke adds a layer of interest to the story. I appreciate the incorporation of meaningful spiritual truths concerning grace and forgiveness. I totally enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. Note: Even though there are carryover characters from the first two books in the series (which are also well worth your reading time), this one can easily be read as a standalone. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh wow!! Seeking Evil is a exciting, intriguing, action packed tale of horror with unexpected twists and turns with the mystery of trying to guess who the killers are!! I loved the strong onwilled characters!! Sierra and Dawn didn't give up even when their situation seemed hopeless!! I've read a lot of this authors books and this one is one of my very favorite!! I couldn't put it down!! I wish I could give ten stars instead of five!! I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This book!!!!! I really like suspenseful books but don't want to read about the torture or awfulness that took place. This book has the suspense but thankfully keeps the really bad things out of it.
Sierra and Dawn were such amazingly strong and courageous women! I loved their tenacity and fighting spirit!
I was definitely guessing throughout the story as to who was behind all of the evil!
Thanks to the author for the arc. The opinions are my own!!
This is the third book in the Hallowed Halls series. Even though it could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the other books in the series as there are carryover characters.
If you like shows like Criminal Minds, you will like this book. You have the FBI's BAU team working to hunt down a serial killer. The book will keep you guessing to the end. I like how the author leads you to believe maybe it's this person or no maybe it's this other person. I would liked to have seen more behavioral analysis from the BAU team, but maybe I'm comparing it too much to Criminal Minds.
I received a free complimentary book and was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Seeking Evil By Mary Alford Release date March 25, 2025
Mystery and intrigue doesn’t even begin to describe this book. This was definitely a book that I could not put down. I’m a huge fan of Criminal Minds TV series. And that’s what this book reminded me of. So well written it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! This is part of the Hallowed Halls series. But can be read as a standalone. Sierra Parker takes off to do some mountain climbing and just some alone time to think. She’s having a hard time after the loss of her mother. And she wants to move forward in her relationship with Zeke Landon. He’s not quite there yet. Leave it to Sierra to go on vacation and run into a serial kidnapper/killer. When Sierra awakens strapped to a metal table, all she can think is I have to get back to Zeke. He hast to know that I love him ! It doesn’t take long for her to realize that she’s not alone. So her escape is gonna to be even harder because she has to take another woman with her. She just keeps praying that Zeke is looking for her. I seriously wish I could’ve read this book from start to finish in one sitting. But life gets in the way. I would love to give it more than five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am highly recommending this book.
Thank you, Mary for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Mary Alford does it once again in this jaw dropping suspenseful thriller that keeps you guessing to the very end. Girls are missing and FBI agent, Sierra is in the wrong place at the wrong time. This can have a fatal impact on her life. Will the rest of the FBI team be able to get to her on time and save her and the other kidnapped girls? As you turn the pages, your adrenaline is pumping and you are on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what is going to happen next. Mrs.Alford does it once again in her amazing writing style to keep us wanting more from her. She is that author that you just can’t get enough of her writing! This book is the third book in the Hallowed Halls series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. Hold on because you will not see this coming! I was given an ARC for this book, but these are all my opinions.
I LOVED Sierra and Zeke's story! One thing I love about these books is that I don't figure out who did it until the BAU team does! Sierra is running from Zeke. It's not that she doesn't love him, she just needs him to not be so cautious. She's ready to get married, and while she's told him she understands his cautious nature, she really doesn't. She just knows they aren't on the same page. So, she ignores his calls and texts because she's not sure what to say to him. When calls and texts from the other BAU team members also aren't answered, they know there's something wrong. When Zeke admits that though Sierra didn't tell him where she was going, he knows she went to Montana. When they find out that there's a serial killer in the same area, the team knows they need to go find Sierra. Now, will they find Sierra in time, or is too late for Zeke to tell her he's ready to marry and he's all in??
I receive a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
I received this book with no expectations of a positive review. WOW! This book blew me away. Sierra Parker who is with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit needs some time way from Zeke who she loves, but who is holding back in their relationship. She decides to come to Pinedale, Wyoming to mountain climb. She has no idea she is walking into the hands of a serial killer. Can Sierra live to tell her team all she knows? Join the BAU team as they attempt to find Sierra and bring an end to the mysteries of the missing women. This is a must read for all romantic suspense fans.
This is the third and final book in Mary Alford’s Hallowed Halls trilogy. My stomach hurt from the first chapter until the final page.
Why?
Because it is by far the most intense story of the three, and I had no idea who the serial killer could be! I didn’t trust anyone outside of law enforcement—and I had my eye of suspicion on a couple of them as well!
Zeke and Sierra’s relationship is and has been complicated, which led to Sierra taking off to clear her head. Problem? No one knew where she was!
Don’t ever, ever do that! From that point on I was in knots, praying she would be found and survive an incredible and dangerous ordeal.
And she’s not even real!
I received an advance copy of the book from the publisher. My review has not been solicited and I’m under no obligation. Highly recommended!
(Make sure you read the first two in the trilogy!)
Seeking Evil delves into Sierra’s story as she figures out a friendly stranger in her time of need was definitely not what she needed or expected. When she disappears off the grid without a trace it’s up to Zeke to put everything together before he loses Sierra for good.
This whole series has been off the charts. I’m hoping this isn’t the last book in the Hallowed Halls series. Mary Alford is one of the top notch Christian suspense authors out today.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
SEEKING EVIL by Mary Alford is the third book in the Hallowed Halls series. It’s the magnificently written, immensely intense suspenseful story of Agent Sierra Parker. She gets away to a mountain climbing excursion, while trying to figure out matters of her heart. It leads her to the fight of her life - to survive! It’s a battle she’s determined to win. She knows it’s the only way for her to get back to Agent Zeke London and the life she knows they could have.
The prologue introduces you to Henry Postman. If anything is true, his love for his wife Maggie was. He loved her with all his heart. She changed him into the man he wished he could be. With her death, that good part of a man within him seemed to have died too. While he was a deacon in the church and attended faithfully with his wife all these years, he knows it’s been all pretend because God could never love a man like himself or forget all the bad things he had done. With Maggie’s death, was it time to let the monster out of the basement?
Sierra and Zeke both work for the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) and are use to handling horrific crimes and are good at what they do. It’s the personal parts of their lives that they are having problems with. Sierra knows she loves Zeke and she feels he loves her too, but they seem to be on different tracks in their relationship. After the loss of her mother, that hit her extremely hard, it’s led Sierra to wanting to take their relationship to the next level. Zeke, however, due to his family history of a father abandoning his family causing him to have to mature before his years, wants to make sure things are perfect so no mistakes will be made. Neither is all right or all wrong. In frustration, Sierra takes off by herself to the Wind River Mountain Range without telling anyone where she was going. As a rock climber, she’s prepared having worked up to this climb. She figures the time alone will give her time to think about where Zeke and her are going or if she needs to accept that it’s not going anywhere.
After hearing about a young climber that had disappeared, she found out about several women that had disappeared some 25 years back. Considering her line of work, Sierra wondered if it might be possible that history was repeating itself. While acknowledging the need to be alert and with her training, she saw not reason to change her plans. A decision she will soon regret.
A car that malfunctioned left Sierra in an isolated part of the forest with no cell service. Knowing it would be a long walk to get help, she was relieved when an elderly, grandfatherly looking man in a tow truck came upon her. She soon finds out he’s not a kindly grandfather nor is he out to help her. Given an injection, she’s helpless to fight back and instantly realized the big mistake she’s made. When she finally comes too, it soon becomes apparent she’s been kidnapped, in some sort of serial killer’s lair, incapacitated by restraints and remembering in horror that no one knows where she is.
When Zeke can’t get in touch with Sierra, his concern soon turns to desperation when no one can reach her, texts aren’t being answered and they aren’t able to track her via her phone or computer. The only clue they have is that Zeke knows she had been preparing for a trip in which she would climb Cirque of the Towers in the Wind River Mountain Range. He knows is he must find her and tell her he was wrong to have put their relationship on hold. He can’t wait to hold her and tell her he loves her. He prays nothings happened to her because completely disconnecting from the people she loves is definitely not something his Sierra would do.
Can Zeke and the whole BAU team find Sierra? Can they piece together the pieces of the puzzle to figure out who has been kidnapping these women? Is there a connection between the missing woman for over two decades ago and the women missing now? If so, why or what caused the 25-year lapse? Will finding evidence help them or confuse the situation? If Sierra is able to get out of the drug induced stupor and her restraints, what will she find outside of this dungeon? Is it even possible to get out alive? Why hadn’t she been turned into one of the “dolls”? How many chances will she have to survive or is her time running out? Will the time apart and the stress of the life and death situation have both Sierra and Zeke realizing what’s important and how fragile life is? Will Maggie memory be stronger than her grave giving Henry second thoughts about his life, evil deeds and religion?
SEEKING EVIL will have you on the edge of your seat for most of this highly suspenseful story. It will have you fearing to turn the page one minute and not being able to turn the pages fast enough the next. Your heart goes out to both Sierra and Zeke for unresolved questions in their relationship that remind us not to put things off because you aren’t guaranteed “later”. You will feel Zeke’s fear of not finding Sierra in time just as you will feel Sierra’s fear of her situation, which she is all too knowledgeable due to her job, and her determination not to let evil to win. Finding another living “doll” allows the two of them to gain strength off each other helping the other with their weaknesses proving there is strength in numbers. Mary Alford gives us an extraordinary story that takes us on two paths – one entails Sierra’s survival and attempts to escape and the other of the BAU team as they work to find Sierra and possible find answers to a cold case in the process. The author gives us a breath-snatching story full of spine-tingling danger, exciting rescue teamwork, family – which often is of the making and not by blood, love, romance – which isn’t always easy or mapped out, and wraps it all in a wonderful thread of faith that reminds us that faith endures, God will never forsake you and that no one is beyond hope in coming to Him. SEEKING EVIL will keep you hoping for Sierra’s escape, the BAU mission to be successful and keep you guessing about who Henry’s partner, “T”, is. I was sure I knew – more than once – who the main serial killer was as the author expertly left red herring trails, only to be completely gobsmacked at the reveal making it the perfect mystery!
SEEKING EVIL is without a doubt FIVE STAR reading. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves highly suspenseful reading. Although part of a series, SEEKING EVIL can definitely be read as a standalone book. As a friendly reminder, this book deals with the subject of a serial killer.
I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own. #SeekingEvil #HallowedHalls #MaryAlford #Suspense
Seeking Evil is the 3rd book in Hallowed Halls FBI series. Man, this book took me on a wild ride of twists and turns. Just when I thought I knew who the killer was I was wrong. I love a good thriller that you can’t guess who the killers are until the very end when you find out. This Christian suspense thriller by Mary tells a story of a serial killer who has stopped killing for 25 years but then suddenly starts back up again with these missing women. I was kind of unsure at first if I wanted to read such a dark story but I’m glad I did. Mary showed the evil side of people that goes to show how the heart can become so destructive and caught up. But on the flip side, she showed the forgiveness of Jesus who can change even in the darkest of hearts.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I love suspense novels about serial killers… I don’t know what that says about me, but here we are. In Seeking Evil, Mary Alford has crafted a truly riveting story that explores what happens when a BAU agent is kidnapped by a serial killer who has managed to slip under everyone’s radar for decades. At first glance, it seems like the plot will mostly center on how Agent Sierra Parker will escape, will her team reach her in time so she and fellow agent Zeke London can get on the same page about their romance, etc. After all, we know who the serial killer is from nearly the beginning (with his creepy, secret basement, barrel gallery of his past victims). And yes, the plot does involve Sierra trying to escape his clutches and her team trying to figure out where she is… BUT … hold on to your hats because there’s so much more going on here! The stunning twists had me gasping out loud at one point, and there were several occasions where I could hardly breathe from the nail-biting suspenseful tension.
I loved the irony of the fact that Sierra came to Wyoming to challenge herself by climbing Cirque of the Towers, hoping it will help her work some emotional stuff she’s been dealing with lately. She’ll be challenged alright, but being trapped in a depraved killer’s clutches will push her to her limits much more than climbing that mountain would have. It will also help her rely on God in ways that she wouldn’t have otherwise, and I appreciated the depth that Alford gave to Sierra’s character and to her growth across this novel. While Sierra is cut off from the world, totally dependent on God and her training to get her out alive, her own BAU team is also doing everything they can to find her. Their investigation allows Alford to continue to bury the mastermind’s true identity among the other suspects through clever misdirections and a whole town full of possibilities.
Bottom Line: Mary Alford consistently writes stories that I can’t put down, and Seeking Evil is no exception with its combination of a remote mountain town full of enigmatic characters, a resilient BAU agent held captive by an evil serial killer, and her worried team (including the man she loves) in a race against time to find her. In my opinion, the setting for this story was perfect and in many ways became a supporting character in its own right, something which definitely added to the overall suspenseful tone that kept me holding my breath and glued to the pages. Remind yourself to breathe as you’re reading this one, because the harrowing danger and surprising twists will steal that normally-involuntary ability if you’re not careful. A sweet romance and meaningful faith thread round out the mix, and I look forward to my next Mary Alford read!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
Mary Alford’s Seeking Evil is a wonderful twisted tale that shows the Reader that even through the darkest moments in life, God’s Light and Truth can still be found. Seeking Evil is the third book in Ms. Alford’s Hallowed Halls series and tells the story of Sierra, an FBI Agent within the BAU, who travels secretly to Wyoming for some peace and to go climbing after a tough year or so that saw the death of Sierra’s Mother, the solving of the toughest case of her life, and hitting a rough patch with her Boyfriend Zeke. Zeke, a BAU Agent with the FBI himself, is concerned when he hasn’t heard from Sierra in a few days. Zeke is able to put the puzzle pieces together, making the pieces click when the BAU team gets a call to come to Wyoming after suspicions arise that they may have a serial killer in the area. When the BAU arrives, the Team learns the awful truths about the Serial Killer and learn that Sierra is most likely in the Killer’s crosshairs.
Mary Alford’s writing in Seeking Evil put me on one of the wildest rides ever in a Christian Suspense read, which is an excellent thing! I love how Seeking Evil packed the suspense from the get-go and was a gritty read all through out the book! The grittiness of Seeking Evil reminded me of what I would possibly see on Criminal Minds. I love that during the darkest moments of Seeking Evil Ms. Alford weaves God’s Truth and Grace, showing the Characters that even a glimmer of light can show the Way. I really love that Ms. Alford kept all of the Characters in the midst of trouble and chaos in the book, where Ms. Alford put the Characters in situations where they can only rely God to get through. I love meeting Sierra and Zeke! I love that they both–Sierra when she was in harm’s way and Zeke following clues–went with their gut and stuck with it, respectively, when what they were seeing in front of them was difficult to understand, especially when they both weren’t sure what direction to be taking. I also loved how Zeke and Sierra made a decision to make things right with each other when they got reunited and that not being reunited was not an option. I love that even though the case was closed, Zeke and Sierra’s BAU Team shared Jesus with the Criminals, showing that even though humanity has earthly consequences, God loves People no matter what and anyone can be saved through the Blood of Jesus Christ. (I really love that part of Seeking Evil!) Seeking Evil is the first book I have read of Ms. Alford’s Hallowed Halls series and it may have referenced the previous books in the series, but to me, it read as a standalone book. (And I can’t wait to get caught up on the rest of the Hallowed Halls series!) If you are looking for a roller coaster read of suspense, that let’s you see God’s Light through the darkness, then I highly recommend Seeking Evil by Mary Alford!
Have you read Seeking Evil? What did you think of the book? Have you read any of the other books in the Hallowed Halls series? What do you think of the series?
I would like to thank Mary Alford and Amanda Geaney for letting me be a part of the Mary Alford’s Influencer Team, and giving me a copy of Seeking Evil to review, and giving me the information I needed for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My review is also on Amazon and my blog Leslie's Library Escape.
After being held in check for 25 years, a serial killer re-emerges in the remote resort town of Pinedale, Wyoming. FBI agent Sierra Parker wants to disappear from her high stress job and a tiff with boyfriend Zeke to go climbing in the Wind River Mountains near Pinedale. But what she walks into is something out of a horror story. She shows courage and tries to outsmart a killer and save another kidnapped girl while her coworkers try to find her. This was a creepy story and a mental workout to keep up with the twisted mind of the killer, all the time watching Sierra escape twice and try to keep the killer at bay. Zeke and their team work against time to stop danger from overtaking Sierra and Dawn with finality. There was a solid faith thread that rounded out the characters and their search for justice. I read this book in record time. I wanted to see how all the tension would be resolved. Thanks to Ms. Alford for an interesting plot that kept me guessing. *A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the author and was won from Kav at BestRead. I was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
I finished this book this morning and have racked my brain all day as to how to best describe this book. It grabs you by the seat of your pants and doesn't let go until the last spine tingling page. This book is in a series, though I haven't read the first two, I have already purchased them and will be reading them asap. This book is about Sierra who is an FBI agent that goes to Wyoming for some rock climbing and personal time. While there she hears about another rock climber who has gone missing. Then finds out that years ago a lot of other female climbers disappeared, then Sierra goes missing. Her other teammates get called in for the newest missing climber and finds Sierra missing. Will the team find them before it's to late? Who is taking them and why? Grab a drink, get a comfortable spot to read and be ready to go on one thrilling, unpredictable journey. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sierra has gone one a rock climbing trip to think thru her relationship with Zeke. She's a gung ho type of woman and Zeke is thinking thru all the possible things that could go wrong type of man. What she doesn't know is she has stepped into Evil's lair. Sierra is told by the owner of the cabins where she's staying, Inez, that another woman climber is missing. Twenty five years ago some women climbers also went missing and were never found. Sadly their cases were never solved. Sierra has made some successful climbs and is enjoying her time in this place, she is still praying and trying to decide what she should do about her relationship with Zeke. She's decided to make one more climb after she gets some rest, however, her vehicle dies on the way back to cabins. A wrecker truck comes along at just the right time, or so she thinks. Sierra has a bad feeling and just as she's ready to reach for her gun, she's injected with something. She passes out and when she wakes up she's on a gurney and there are barrels in the room with names on them....
Seeking Evil, by author Mary Alford, is a "buckle up and hang on" kind of read. In the best way. FBI BAU agent Sierra Parker goes missing while on a lone climbing trip in the mountains of Wyoming. She's the second climber taken in a matter of days. The abduction horrors that hit this town decades earlier and thought to have stopped have started again. Now Sierra is trapped by a killer and has to keep all her wits about her during her ordeal. Fellow BAU agent Zeke London and the rest of the team are determined to turn over every rock in Wyoming to find Sierra. Zeke is especially frantic as he and Sierra are (were?) dating. When she left for Wyoming, their relationship was as much in question as her current location. This story is dark, twisted, and completely unpredictable. But there's also hope and a "light at the end of the tunnel" that comes straight from the Lord. I was hooked from the get-go, plus it has my favorite, an epilogue! I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
I always enjoy this author's romantic suspense novels, but this book takes it to another level! It is an intense story that kept me turning the pages to discover a serial killer's identity and determine the motives that spurred the actions. It didn't take long for me to think it was an older man named Henry until another possibility emerged. Who was "T"? Was more than one demented person involved?
I was drawn to the sweet but troubled romance between two FBI agents, but the psychological aspects were the real attention-grabbers. What causes someone to kill not once, but over and over again? Can they receive forgiveness and redemption? Do they deserve to be forgiven?
Seeking Evil is a page-turning, nail-biting, and often gut-wrenching story of danger, survival, and an overpowering will to live. I recommend it to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense.
I received a complimentary digital copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.
Seeking Evil is Book Three of the Hallowed Halls Series by Mary Alford. It is scheduled to be released March 25, 2025.
This time the BAU Agent, Sierra Parker, leaves town to think about her relationship with Agent Zeke London. She arrives in a small town in Wyoming that has a dark secret and it’s past. She is drawn into this suspenseful mystery and the reader gets a glimpse into a serial killer’s life.
When Sierra gets pulled into the killer’s den of Evil. The entire BAU team works to find her.
You will not figure out who was really involved in this whole killing spree and why.
This third book in the series is wonderfully written by a very talented author. It can be read as a standalone, but if you enjoy suspense, you will want to read the others in this series.
I was given an ARC of this series, but was not required to give a positive review.
Seeking Evil by Mary Alford is an intriguing story. The prologue drew me in, and my interest was held as I progressed through the book. The characters are developed and varied. The mystery was full of suspense and action. There were several suspects, but one stood out to me (I love solving whodunits). I was happy to see that my guess was correct during the reveal. Sierra is a courageous woman. She is smart and tenacious. Sierra used her training to her advantage. I imagine that it can be hard holding on to hope as time passes. I enjoyed the epilogue. Seeking Evil is the third book in the Hallowed Hall series. It can be read as a standalone for those who are new to the series like me (it will, though, have you wanting to go back and read the first two books in the series). Seeking Evil is a captivating tale with missing climbers, romance woes, a creepy killer, troubled team members, disturbing barrels, and a bothered boyfriend.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Mary Alford wasted NO time getting the action started in “Seeking Evil”, the third book in the “Hallowed Halls” series. Sierra Parker decides to go mountain by herself after having relationship issues with her boyfriend. She learns about missing girls in that area, but as a trained FBI agent she doesn’t expect to become the serial killer's next victim! This was a nail biting story and I devoured it in two sittings. Author Mary Alford has written a chilling romantic suspense in Seeking Evil. Sierra Parker and Zeke London are members of the BAU and are dating. She's taking a trip to Wyoming to climb, clear her head from the last case, and think about her relationship with Zeke. Sierra hasn't told anyone where she's going and shortly after arriving in the area, she learns that a young woman climber is missing. Sierra and Zeke are both well-developed and likable characters. The plot is fast-paced and kept my rapt attention throughout the entire book. There are twists that I never saw coming, but made sense in a spine-tingling way. The author's writing style is perfect for this genre. There's enough description to let the reader put himself right into the scene, but never slow the story down. The dialogue feels natural and unique to each character. The ending is very satisfying. I would definitely read more of the Hallowed Halls series and more of other works by this author. I highly recommend Seeking Evil to readers of clean and of Christian romantic suspense. Just read it with the lights on and the doors locked!
The need to get away from it all brings Sierra Parker to the Wind River Mountain Range in Pinedale, Wyoming. She is frustrated with her boyfriend dragging his feet in regards to their relationship, so some time alone is a good thing. The Wind River Cabins are a favorite of the climbers, but it carries with it an undercurrent of evil. Will that evil catch up with her?
I highly recommend this unthinkable story that will keep you guessing right up till the end, as you continue to hope that the abducted will be found alive! An early copy of Hallowed Halls Book 3 was received through BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
