Before starting my NFL career, I flew into the city closest to the town I’d call home. I booked a room, went out to grab a bite, and ended up talking football with the locals, who had no clue who I was. Oh yeah, and I had a few too many drinks.
As the night wore on, everything became a little bit blurry. Deciding to use the men’s room before grabbing a ride back to the hotel to catch some ZZZs, the door to the stall behind me swung open and a chick with an SU ball cap on, barely containing her wild, dark locks, stepped out, glanced down at my junk, and said, “That will work.”

Even after finding out she was related to the owners of the New York Knights, there wasn’t a problem. We agreed it was no big deal. I didn’t even take offense to what that could have meant south of the border, either.
The problem arose when I met her sister.
They look alike, but they couldn't be any different. And no, it’s not what you’re thinking. I don’t have a sisters fantasy or anything like that, and I’ve never been, and never will be, the guy who falls in love. My heart just doesn’t work that way.

I came really close to DNFing this one. I felt like there were so many gaps in the story that it was like entire chapters were missing. It skipped around a lot and I felt confused and just honestly couldn't get into it.
The romance was there, I guess, but it felt like there was no real chemistry between the characters. Just something missing for me to really feel attached and fall in love with them.
Probably the unpopular opinion here. I really wanted to love it. Just couldn't.

Hart Breaker is a romance that fills your heart with love, happiness and joy. Riley might have been engaged and Hudson might have loved her from the sidelines, never overstepping but it didn't mean he wouldn't protect her and stand up for her. The chemistry that ignites between the two of them is electric and the connection is undeniable. Hudson has always felt like family to Riley from the moment she laid eyes on him however after having her heart broken one too many times, she goes with what appears to be the safe option. However, this Hart will not stand to watch her make a mistake, so as secrets are discovered and choices are made, it might finally be the time for them to see things with their eyes wide open and risk having a Hart take care of your heart. A story that wraps itself around you and fills you with every happy emotion possible. Hudson and Riley are an epic and unstoppable couple and if you don't believe me let Hudson show you why they are.

This was the story I have been waiting for in this new series and it was everything I had hoped for and more. The NY Knights football series takes us back to OG Blue Valley with the Riley connection and my favorite man Hudson Hart is front and center and I loved every minute of it. The cameos keep coming left and right and I am here for them, the nostalgia in stories past is incredible and puts a smile on my face everytime we get to see how far they have all come.
Hudson Hart really is up there, I loved him from his very first scene and was so excited to see him fall as I knew it would be as he likes to say..epic and unstoppable! What a guy.

Blah, this was giving "The Keeper" by Bella Matthews vibes. Waaaaaaaay too many other characters in and out and all about. Things didn't happen on page, everything seemed to happen off page and then recounted later in a very confusing manner. I found myself going "Wait, what?" on more than one occasion. In fact when she found out she was pregnant, she didn't even say she was pregnant, she just started throwing up during his wedding proposal and she went from "I'm sorry I ruined your proposal" to him saying "did you take a test?" and she says "it's under the tree" and then they get excited and happy, cut scene. I don't necessarily need everything to be explained out in detail, but so much dragged with all the other characters and yet conversely the main characters stories were barely touched on. She was with one guy who we got maybe 2 whole scenes with and then we find out she's actually hung up over someone else who didn't even like her and died and somehow they're together, yet he's cheating on her with the same girl he cheated on her with in highschool and then next scene she's telling other dude she's not jumping into a relationship then a day later they're fucking and a week later they tell each other they love each other and then a few weeks later he proposes ...I think, I don't know and frankly I stopped caring. Also, every character in this book was the same character with different wigs. They all acted exactly the same, even the guys spoke and acted and thought like females think. I'm not saying that an heterosexual NFL football player *can't* stress bake and talk about eating his feelings, but it felt just so unrealistic. Idk, the whole book has me giving a shoulder shrug. Not for me

Hart Breaker is book 1 of the new NY Knights Players Club series and this is Hudson and Riley Mae’s book.
So we met Hudson Hart in the Taking The Shot Series, where he was a football player at Lincoln Uni, making it to the NFL playing for the NY Knights and who’s also a bit of a player after hours! But in his book you see there is more to him, he has his own insecurities and as we find out, is also a bit of a softie and fell instantly for Riley.
Riley Mae Brooks was brought up to be fierce and know her own mind, she is the full package and THE best part is this takes us back to the Blue Valley series, as she’s Jade’s daughter - OMG I love that series! But back to this book…
If you have read the BV series, then you’ll know that Riley is related to the owners of the New York Knights (The Links/Brooks/Lane owner co-op from BV), having been hurt in the past courtesy of a cheating ex, she’s decided to take the ‘safe’ choice, by getting engaged to Brett, but he is a bit of a pr!ck and certainly doesn’t deserve Riley. Cue Hudson deciding it’s his job to make Riley see that too.
It doesn’t surprise me that MJ has scored a winning touchdown with this book, it has everything I love about her writing - family, friendships and the drama that always brings. Seriously LOL moments and the banter will certainly keep you page turning!

Fun, spicy start to a new series!!
𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 is the first book in the NY Knights Players Club by MJ Fields, featuring a steamy, one night stand, sister’s ex, football romance for Riley and Hudson. Hudson had a one night stand with a woman in a bar, without knowing she was related to the owners of his football team. The problem happened when he met her sister, Riley, who inspired an instant, unexplainable connection in him. Unfortunately, though, she is engaged to a complete jerk and no one is stopping her from marrying him. How far will Hudson go to get what he wants?
This was a fantastic start to a new series with fantastic characters, funny banter, spicy chemistry, and a fun plot twist! I loved all the different friendships and family bonds that added to the entertainment. Hudson was extra swoon-worthy in his determination to protect Riley from a life of unhappiness. He was like a Golden Retriever Hero with a side of dirty talk and lots of Alpha swagger!😍 One of my favorite aspects of the book were the text threads! I love a funny text exchange!🤣 I enjoyed Riley as well, as she came to terms with reality and decided what she wanted out of life. Their connection was a bit of a slow burn on the page with all the outside drama with her fiancé, but once they hit their stride it was fire!!🔥 The ending was as sweet as sugar, and I cannot wait for Boone’s story!!

Sports Romance
I really loved Hudson and Riley as individual characters. Despite Riley being engaged at the start of this story, it’s a fairly low angst, light-hearted romance. The chemistry is there and really heats up as the story progresses. There was a fair amount of introductions of side characters which was great for a series starter and have me very interested for what’s to come for the rest of the team!

Funny and quirky story that is unputdownable. Hart and Ry are one of a kind. Great chemistry and great wit. Also filled with tons of side characters that I can’t wait to learn more about.

MJ Fields can write sports romance and Hart Breaker is a 5-star read.
The characters Riley and Hudson are wonderful together.
As part of the New York Knights Hudson has always noticed Riley but never acted on anything more until he feels that her life is not going in the right direction.
He steps in but then feelings come into play that have them both second-guessing!
A slow-burn romance was added with Hudson’s supportive family, not his father!
Riley's relationship with her family is also strong which makes this book an easy read with very little angst.

For some reason I felt like I started a book halfway through. It was as if I should have known the characters and relationships to each other already. That made it hard to follow for me. I always do enjoy a toddler, with cute comments that she wants to be a boss

Fields is a new spin-off NFL team in New York that is connected to the previously published Blue Valley series and the New Jersey Jag’s MLB team series. Hudson Hart is the brother of Roman Hart of the MLB Jersey Jags and his sister Jillian, who is engaged to Nour, a teammate of Roman Hart. The night Hudson was drafted to the New York Knights NFL team where, he was inebriated in the bathroom when a beautiful woman walked in and propositioned him. He gladly accepted her request. Unfortunately, he didn’t know her name and didn’t recognize Riley as the woman he encountered in the bathroom, the same woman who made his draft announcement to the Knights team. Apparently I have entered my sports romance era. My intro to this author and I will be immediately finding her back log. I was immediately invested in the story.
Hudson and Riley are absolutely adorable. I honestly went into this almost blind. I read the tropes and it sounded interested. Little did I know that I would end up finishing the book in the same sitting.
Riley is part of a family that owns the New York Knights. She also owns a local bar. She is engaged to her high school boyfriend and pretty much has her life planned out. Her fiance isn't the best human. There is a lot of history there, but is she making the right decision?
Hudson Hart is one of the players on the team. He's been secretly swooning over Riley from the day he joined the team, but he's never acted on it. Prior to coming, he had a one night stand in a bar. Little did he know that the girl would be Riley's sister. So he has kept it professional and while he thinks the world of her, he doesn't try to cross the line. But something about her getting married to a man that doesn't deserve her isn't sitting right with him. He's sworn off love, but Riley has him second guessing that. Is it time for him to own up to it before it's too late?
Another big element in this book is the family aspect. Hudson has a supportive family, with the exception of his father. He is extremely respectful to his mother and sister. The kind of things you want to see in real life, and not just in a book boyfriend. His teammates are his found family. Big Daddy Boone may as well be his roommate. Boone is also a single father so the moments with his daughter are too precious. Riley also a great relationship with her family. And collectively, they all want Riley and Hudson to open their eyes!
The burn is SLOW. Like you want to shake them and wake them up. But once it starts, it does remain steady. 3/5 for spice.
I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it!

Laugh out loud, hot story
Hart Breaker is my first read by MJ Fields, and I’m so glad I gave it a chance. This was a genuinely good story with a lot of heart and heat. The connection between Hudson and Riley is electric—both emotionally and physically - their chemistry is off the charts. They’re just so hot for each other, and it really comes through on the pages.
Hudson’s devotion to Riley really stood out. He waited so long for the right moment, and when she got engaged to someone else, he knew he couldn't stay silent any longer. His decision to finally fight for her added just the right amount of tension and urgency to the story.
These two also made me laugh out loud more than once. Their banter, quirks, and the way they just get each other made their relationship even more enjoyable to watch unfold. They’re truly made for each other.
I will admit that the number of characters introduced early on made it a little difficult to follow at first. It took me a bit to get my bearings, but I’m really glad I stuck with it. Once I was into the rhythm of the story, it was hard to put down.
My only real disappointment? We didn’t get to see their wedding! I love weddings in books—the vows, the emotion, the celebration—and I just know Hudson and Riley would’ve had vows that melted my heart and made me laugh out loud again. It felt like a missed opportunity, but that aside, the story still left me smiling.
If you’re into steamy romances with strong chemistry, emotional stakes, and laugh-out-loud moments, Hart Breaker is worth the read. I’ll definitely be checking out more from MJ Fields!

I Love the 1st book to a new series! All the new characters you meet, the groups that are created, the families that are involved & it all taking place around a love story. Gives me chills.
Hudson & Riley are characters that I was vested in. One being kind of new & the other has been in the background for years.
Hudson's story is one i couldn't wait to get my hands on!! He is funny, sexy, loyal & all about family & football. I knew he would be my new book boyfriend until Book 2.
Then we have Riley Brooks. Riley is apart of Mj's BV family. We know all about her family history going back a generation or two however, Riley is all grown up!! She's a kick ass woman with her own business. She is beautiful, strong, smart, loyal & is all about Family & her girls. You'd think this would be an easy love story but damn that's what makes it so much more & a must read!!! I can't give it all away!

I promise this is defiantly a book you didn't know you needed!!

This book starts a spin off from 2 series actually. Hudson is brother to one of the baseball players in the Rounding Bases series and he was in the Blue Valley series as well. I have read almost everything this author writes. BUT--I have only read one or two Blue Valley books. Full disclosure--I found the frst 1/4 of the book confusing. I didn't know the characters and I felt like I should have?? I kept going back to the family tree to see what was going on. Eventually, it didn't matter who everyone else was because the story became about Hudson and Riley.
These two have danced around each other for awhile and never taken the leap. When they find out true feelings about each other, they are all in. Snappy conversations. Steamy moments, Hearts are all in. Just a great love story.
I am looking forward to reading about the others guys ont he football team. Loved seeing a bit of football action in this sports romance as well.

Hudson Hart has had a crush on Riley since he has known her, but never acted on it. It is not a well-kept secret. He is such a nice guy and all about family, both blood and chosen. Riley is more closed off. Her fiancé Brett is a jerk. No one likes him. She is very low on his priority list except when it suits him or he gets territorial (due to the not well-kept secret stated above). Hudson tries to be there for her like everyone else, but then he starts going further to keep the wedding from taking place. Some of it is pretty funny. There is a ton of great banter and most of the families make appearances. I like that it doesn’t take long for Hudson to show Riley exactly how he feels. His rambling texts are awesome. Everyone except Brett wants Hudson and Riley together. Very happy ending. I am dying to see who ends up with who in the future

Hudson Heart who else has been waiting for his story? This man will make you hot under the you know what. Hudson has a beautiful heart and loves football and his team. His love for his family will be everything you ever wanted in a man. When he has a one-night stand well he chalks it up to just that. Riley is the beautiful woman behind the bar who is also the daughter of one of the team owners. She's the one woman that Hudson wants, but she's promised to someone else. Riley has a lot going on and trying to keep the peace and making sure everyone is happy is just the tip of the iceberg. When these two are in a room together you can feel the chemistry off the pages. Finished in a day!! Holy moly this book was so much fun to read. The banter was absolutely hilarious and I could not get enough! The family dynamics were spot on and I just love seeing how everyone interacted. Hudson was so so funny and I loved his take on life and how he cared for the people in his life. Riley was so fun to get to know - she was strong and so glad she was able to realize it’s okay for her to expect more of those around her. The relationship between these two was quick but you could tell it was always underlying over the years they knew each other. I loved how they were so ride or die for each other && claimed each other easily. The ending was perfection and I just loved their HEA so much!!

The first book in a new series. M J Fields does not disappoint. I couldn’t wait for Hart’s book. So worth the wait.
Hart has wanted Riley since she “welcomed” him into the family two years ago. He still wants her but now she is engaged to someone else. No one is thrilled with who she is engaged to but all Hart wants is for her to be happy. If he could he would put her on a shelf and protect her.
Riley has felt a pull toward Hart. But she has been hurt in the past by cheating ex’s. It is hard for her to trust anyone. There is also the issue of his age. He is only twenty three years old and she is nearing thirty.
The sparks between these two are explosive between the sheets as well as outside. Once you start you cannot put this book down. A 5-star read by a 5-star author.

Hudson Hart was everything I thought he would be. Be prepared to swoon when it comes to him. That man is all golden retriever except when it comes to the bedroom. That man is a beast! I so loved seeing all my favorites from the baseball and football worlds. It made me all giddy! Riley couldn't ask for anyone better to be in her corner than Hudson, but first she needs to come to terms and forgive herself for her past decisions. I really got into this one and it was hard to put down. The characters just pulled me right in. A great book with a cast of characters that are going to steal your heart. Don't even get me started with Hudson and his teammate's little girl. Oh my gosh heart melting. Little Lily is so adorable!!! This is a must read!

When I heard that am J Fields had a new series releasing I could t wait to jump in. This is Hudson and Riley Mae Brook’s story and it was an emotional story that moved me. They shouldn’t have crossed the line, but the heart wants who the heart wants.
From the moment they met the sharks flew but as Riley is already engaged she is off limits, until she isn’t.
There were a number of twists and turns in this story as Hudson does his best to show Riley that she deserves so much more. An entertaining, well written faced paced story that drew me in and I am looking forward to seeing what Ms. Fields has in store for the series.

Hudson, Hudson, Hudson! Omgosh I absolutely loved this book. I love that we are coming back to Blue Valley! This can definitely be read as a standalone, but for those that have read MJ’s Blue Valley Series, or any of the series she has written, you will meet the OG crew! I loved Hudson and Riley Mae. This was a quick read, or maybe because I couldn’t put it down, but I read it in one night. It was definitely one of those don’t bug me kind of nights. The book doesn’t really go how you expect or think it will, but I loved how it ended and can’t wait to catch up with all the others!! New York Knights!!

I had perfect timing in reading this beauty. It's the start of football season. I am a seasonal reader and the release fell just right.
Loved our couple!
He wanted her, she was taken.
He respected that but knew that wasn't the guy for her.
He also had a past with someone making everything difficult.

It was a big one
It was a fun one
And it changed EVERYTHING.
I loved watching them fall and work through all their issues.

I loved the story, and loved seeing Hudson get his HEA after seeing him through out the baseball series. I also love second generation stories. However, it can be difficult if you've never read the combination of series that intertwine these. It was kind of hard to keep up with the side characters to be really honest. I might go back and read the original series.
Overall, good story. Loved the the little twist of the "somewhat" ex's sister. I really loved Hudson and Riley together. I'm curious about the next one.

Hudson plays in the NFL for the New York Knights and when he meets Riley for the first time he is taken with her, but she's engaged.
Everyone knows that her fiance doesn't deserve her so Hudson does everything he can to get Riley to see that she deserves better.
The banter between them is so good and the chemistry is off the charts but will she stick with her fiance or realise just what he is.
A must read full of so much love but also plenty of friendship and fun. Loved the ending.

Oh if I could live in a romance novel and have Hudson Harts, heart! I would be a truly happy woman. But I am not a fictional character and can only love him in my imagination… Sigh. So as you can expect this book is simply AMAZING! I mean I don’t honk I can say anything more that could convey how much I loved this book and the characters in it. I will tell you this, I know that I can NOT wait for the next book in the series to come so that I can get another glimpse at Hudson and admire him from afar, lol.
