Rate this book
When Beth Lundeen’s husband dies two weeks after their surprise wedding, she understands his family’s shock, but their animosity overwhelms her as she struggles with her own grief. And when pregnancy compounds the situation, she feels trapped, surrounded by those who don’t want her. But a secret plan evolves, ensuring her escape.

When Kevin Bonner arrives at the homestead, Beth feels certain the Union Pacific track layer was sent by God to assist in her scheme. Although she’d anticipated a little family drama as preparations unfold for her flight from Denver, she never imagined the turmoil her heart encounters with the faithful handyman. Does Jesus have a different adventure for her than the one Beth expected?

I liked this one. It pulled me in and kept me turning the pages. This one deals with a lot of trauma and loss to deal with and overall did a good job. About a girl who loses her family on the way west and marries a guy for survival. Although he treated her well, there was no love on her side and when he was killed in an accident, she continued to live alone as she did not want a man because she didn't believe in love. Her in laws treated her badly esp after the passing of their son as they thought she was a gold digger and how the mother in laws heart changes is amazing and heart touching. It gives hope that maybe anyone's heart can be turned around. The brother and sister in law's change of heart was never explained, which is why it made this a 4 star book.

Kevin is the ultimate hero❤️ alone and orphaned, he has won battles in the streets, his mind and in the War. How he turns and heals from all that trauma and not let it define him is a perfect example for all us❤️ he didn't hide it or push it away. He dealt with it, learned from it, and shared his lessons with others. I strive to be that person!
I will definitely be interested in reading more by this author. This is my first by him.
