The book had a strong start and I thought it would be a solid 4 stars but it went off course in the Zurich bank. Haeli's logic in dealing with Sokolov at the bank was irrational. No way would he just let her walk out without checking what was in the case. Also, for someone who is supposed to have a moral compass, Blake threw his beliefs aside in Zurich. For a short moment he sounded appalled at what Haeli had done and appeared to be rethinking his future relationship with her. Then not much later he sounds like a love sick puppy willing to take the fall for something he didn't do to save her from her own bad actions. Her actions (both with her team and with Blake) would not warrant him trusting her again regardless of her motive (which was not very believable).
I also agree with other reviewers who found the switching timeline awkward. The story would switch between 2 years ago, then present day, then back 1 week ago, then back 2 years ago then present day. It ended up smoothing out to a present day story but I'm not fan of erratic timeline changes.
Last, I found the ending to be somewhat weak, but it was obviously done to set up the next book. Overall, I'd say this was 3.5 stars. I rounded up because the first 3/4 of the book was fast paced and a page turner.
This fourth book in the series has less Blake than I’d like. It’s really Haeli’s story. We go back into Haeli’s past and via flashback chapters and present day chapters get to a point where Blake finally comes in towards the end.
There’s a lot here that seems out of character in terms of what we know and expect from Blake. We don’t know Haeli’s as well so I guess I can’t make the same judgement about her but it doesn’t jibe as well. We don’t get a firm resolution to this story and I always hate that, even if there is a continuing story arc.
The story was tense but as it wasn’t really a Blake story it didn’t have the elements I’m used to and enjoy in this series. The ending is a bit of a shock but it leads into the next book. I hope things won’t be as drawn out in that one as well.
I expected more from this book #4 of Blake Brier series but slightly disappointed to be honest. First of all story, narration and action sequences everything is perfect as you expect from Blake upon reading the previous books. But the way haeli behaved and operated before and after was not right. They are not judge jury and executioners and I know the story follows into next book and answers will be provided there but I don't like both Blake and haeli in this and more so Blake as to how he can accept what haeli did without an explanation even though he is in love with her. It stands against everything he believes in. Hoping for the answers and an exceptional book #5 or a perfectly good series would be wasted.

Well, I'm confused. I've really enjoyed this series and the Blake Brier character. This particular novel has more of his girlfriend Haeli than it does of Blake. I get that the author is setting the stage for future stories by giving us her history, and that's fine.
The story is true to the series in that it's explosive, full-tilt action based on great characters. But I'm confused about the direction these characters took. It's quite a twist, but it doesn't feel quite right. I'm hoping that certain characters will come to their senses in the next book since they seemed to have made uncharacteristic choices in this one. Enough said.
If you're a fan, this is a great book. If you're new to the series, please don't start with this one.
To say this is an explosive read is an understatement of nuclear proportions!! Blake Brier is an ex special ops operative and his girlfriend Haeli is of a similar background from Israel. A Russian mafia type individual extremely well connected in the underground world of crime is after Haeli and her former operative partners for millions of dollars worth of diamonds they are accused of taking. What unfolds is an action packed story from the first to last page!!!! An excellent read!!!!Enjoyed immensely!!! My highest recommendation!!
Tons of action, lots of surprises, plenty of drama, a must read. When Haeli gets herself into a a pickle she does it right. When Haeli finds an envelope in Blake's kitchen with 2 photos in it Haeli knows what she has to do. She has to warn her teammates, now, before it's too late. Russian mobster, diamonds, bombs, terrorist, it just keeps going from bad to worse. Great job. Thank you.
Interesting storyline with intriguing situations. Blake has fallen in love and is ready to propose but when he arrives home Hailie is missing only a note stating she had unfinished business. But she runs into trouble and calls Blake for help.
Ryan and Scott have teamed to bring some very good series.
L.T. Ryan and Gregory Scott deliver an intriguing, exciting story with explicit descriptions of the Russian mafia leader trying to get back diamonds that were stolen from him. It is very difficult to put down this book. You keep turning pages to see what will happen next. This book is full of surprises. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading! 😊
Tried putting this book down to go to sleep, but finished it at 4 am. Don’t start it too late in the evening. Haeli returns from the dead, surprising her friends and co-workers. She is a Mossad agent, and her team is sent to find out what a Russian mafia group is doing in an African mine. Lots of action throughout the story. No spoiler alerts here. ENJOY!
A lot of running around in this story. I was spellbound and exhausted. It is hard running six minute miles. Haeli is a strong, hard headed woman. She is a team player with her own agenda, making her irritating and fascinating. Block out your calendar and enjoy the time with Mick and Haeli.
Excellent and captivating reading. Another attention grabber by Mr Ryan. The constant action and situations were consuming. I highly recommend this series. It gets better with each action packed chapter. I can't wait to start the next in the series. How are they going to so!he getting his girl freed.
Love this book... At first if was a little confusing with the time jumping for the back story, but soon it made perfect sense...i enjoyed the chase and all the antics in between...I am looking forward to the next story to we just how they manage to save the damsel in distress!
Continuing the life of Blake Brier, Drawpoint traces his girlfriend, and her escapades with an Israeli high-tech espionage company. There is tense drama with the pursuit of stolen diamonds by a Russian mob figure.
It was a quick read started on the return plane ride from LAX to BOS. It was entertaining and gripping, but fairly formulaic.
It is always proven that woman will be trouble for men especially if u fall for one. There is no difference in this book and life. Blake is always bailing Haeli out and she is always making trouble. It could be just the way it is in L T Ryans life as well. Page turning reading is what his books are about. Must reads
You were right LT Ryan. If your not into tech lingo, start with book # 2. It's been smooth reading. So smooth that I just finished book # 4!! Going on to # 5. I'm sailing through these. I think I might be in love with Blake, but how do I tell Jack Noble? Oh, that would be interesting reading. 😋 Keep them coming LT!!!
Another great story in this series by a great storyteller. Haeli old life has caught up with her, her old team mates are murdered and she's been caught. Blake comes to the rescue. Haeli changes the plans they made and bombs Simplify and Nikitin, ending their terror but is caught and arrested for terrorism.
Another great chapter in Brief series. If only Haeli would follow Blake's plan. One problem is there both independent. But at least Haeli got rid of Solcov and assassin . She she diamonds to Blake so lets see if that gets Blake and friends to start own company then rescue Haeli. 10 stars plus!!!! Thanks, Carl Clause
Body guards, diamonds stolen, traitors, Russian killers, escape, murder, international chase, rescues, separations... The story moves along quickly with lots of action and back and forth safe/unsafe situations.
I chose this rating because I liked the story. It has drama, and all the things that keep you reading. It's typical. Blake Brier. Worth the time of your looking for a thriller
The transitional book of the series, this steps straight into the story which ended on the last page of book 3. Maintaining the action (without getting repetitive) and pace expected of LT Ryan’s books, well deserving of 5 stars.
Incredibly good reads... this one goes off the main direction a bit... but is still real good. Also, the ending of this book, sets up for the next book almost to the point of a cliffhanger at the end (which I normally don't like). Highly recommended!
The leapfrogging time lines in this book made it difficult for this 63 year old dyslexic to keep the story line straight. Despite that I still enjoyed the book. Hopefully the storyline can settle down a little now.
Enjoyed the story with all of its tricks and turns. At times it was hard to follow, but in the end the ending brought it all together. Looking forward to the next book.
I didn’t read book 3 so I was at a loss for 50% of the book. However, when I’ve read the Ben Porter series, False Assurances, Threat Bias, Subversive Addiction and Vital Deception, I don’t have that issue. Good read otherwise.
I'm enjoying each book individually and also how the series moves the primary characters forward. Like getting to binge-watch a TV or movie series. Easy reading for folks who like fun, fast reading.
Good tale with several surprises, mostly that the good guys weren't always ahead of the bad ones and even got killed when truly faced with insurmountable odds. Much confusion until the end when it all comes together. Look forward to the next installment.
Once again L. T. Ryan has created a riveting tail that holds you til the end. The reader is taken along for an exciting adventure that makes it hard to put the book down.
I loved this book. I started reading and couldn’t quit, so much so that I was up all night. I really enjoyed Blake and Hailie romance. I was rooting for her friends to survive and wondering if one did. And how is Blake going to get his woman???
