4.5 stars. Idk how this book doesn’t get more attention!!!! It’s the perfect mix of house wife drama, black magic & thriller. Loved it!!

Not a book I would ever have found or picked up, but after meeting V V James at a dinner party I knew it would be brilliant and was not disappointed. A true page-turner, I couldn't stop reading it! Sanctuary is a brilliant blend of Desperate Housewives and The Crucible backed clearly by deep research. The magical world and atmosphere created in Sanctuary has so many historical parallels with the 17th Century witch trials, making this as much a treat for history lovers as for crime fiction fanatics. And a fascinating reminder of how quickly a population can turn... looking foward to watching the Netflix adaptation next!

Pleasantly surprised by this book. Modern witches and spells create mass hysteria and panic. People running scared. Loved it
