Half-breed daughter of Thanatos, Layla is one the most powerful beings both on Earth and in Aetheria, the land of the gods. The problem is, that she can’t seem to control her powers, and enemies are lurking at every turn.
Navigating this new world where creatures of myth are commonplace, she discovers that family bonds are just as important as the threads of fate. Danger threatens her newfound home and she and her cousin, Damian, take on their enemies with a collection of strays they have taken in along the way.
But sometimes fate can’t overcome secrets. Can Layla and Caspian move past the distrust that brews between them as he continues to keep Layla in the dark?
Damian has spent his life attempting to thwart the attempts his father and uncle have been making to overthrow his grandmother, Nyx. He’s forced to show his cards when things go sideways and ends up the ruler of his father’s kingdom, a position that he never desired, but will take on to keep those he loves safe.
To make matters worse, his home is now overrun with Caspian’s rowdy brothers, the daughter of Thor, who is slightly terrifying, and the beautiful red-headed siren he can’t stop thinking about, Anika.
4.5 ⭐️ wow this book was fast paced, spicy, and full of twist and turns. I loved how we got new characters in this book and also dragons!!! Damian is still my favorite. I was so excited we got his POV. He seriously is so easy to love and so funny. Layla is such a badass but sometimes she grinds my gears. Cas gives me weird vibes. I don’t know I want to trust him but he’s so secretive. I wish we got his POV to know what he’s thinking. My jaw dropped reading the ending. I swear it was one twist after the other. Overall I enjoyed this book so much. I don’t know how i’m gonna wait until Feb for the next book after the cliffhanger. I have so many questions I need answers!!!!
WOW! This had me going nonstop for hours. I could NOT put it down. The characters get deeper and more involved. New relationships. New characters. Twists and turns. Shock factor! Lots of spice. And the end… holy moly! What a ride. I cannot wait for Magic & Mayhem!!!
The first book was an incredible introduction to Layla & Cas’ world; the author did a solid job of creating a vision and character within the playoffs. The sex seems were graphic but classy & made my mouth water.
But book 2 introduced way too many different story lines at once- could have been made into three different books/series. The steam was still hot, but, again- too many things happening to too many different people that I had to flip pages to figure out where we were in terms of timelines.
We nearly lost the Cas/Layla romance completely until the end of the book neared (was about to DNF but I held on to hope); the storylines all feel so incomplete at the end of book 2, and all of the effort the author took in developing each character beautifully in book 1 was lost in the chaos of this one. I think book 2 could be completely re-written with a continuation of the plot in book 1 & nothing would be missed from the current book 2.
…I had so much hope, but I think am going to stop here & not continue with the series and be disappointed again.
What I wouldn’t give for the next book. That ending was insane. This was a great sequel to the first book and I definitely felt like there was both plot and romantic development. I loved getting to see how Damian and Layla view situations and each other. It was so wholesome and I loved it. I loved Anika and Damian’s budding relationship and can’t wait to see what happens especially with that ending. Cas and Layla on the other hand… I don’t think I ever really liked their relationship but I certainly am not team Cas now. I would 100% be ok with them not ending up together. The found family dynamic was perfect and I need more of it. I loved the addition of Audra and Thor. They were perfect drama and friendship builders. I honestly am rooting for Layla so much and hope that the ending of this book and the preview of the next don’t end up bad for her. I 100% recommend this series to anyone and everyone!!! I read this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
It took me a few to settle into this book because it had been a while since I had read the first book. There's very little information in this one to remind you of the first one. Which is good, it picks right up where the first left off, and books that summarize the previous one for 50 pages can be annoying.
Spice? I'm going to go with 5/5. Maybe 4. We've got 2 couples this time, both in the honeymoon period, going at it adventurously. Often.
Family and Fate was mostly focused on the relationships, found family, and development of powers. Until the end when a huge bomb was dropped. What the?
Even better than the first, the second book in the Legacy of Legends series definitely checks all the boxes!
We enter Aetheria as the setting for most of the book, and Angie Collins does an excellent job of building the world for us. Letting us in on it's majesty as we continue where we left off in book one. Told from both Layla and Damien's POV, we are introduced to new lovable characters, and get to know our favorites even better, as the two navigate life, love and underworldly complications.
Family. Fate. Love. Hate. Spice. Magic. Dragons. Dire Wolves. Gods. Goddesses. Secrets and more. What doesn't this story have?!
Ahh! I thought this was a duology but it's not! Hurry up and write the next one, I'm dying to know what happens!! Such a good storyline combined with lots of spicy scenes. I could barely put it down. The only thing that irritates me is how insecure Layla continues to be with Cas. Everytime something "secretive" comes up, she's hurt and angry at him and picking fights about it. I know it's mostly in line with her character but it would be nice for her to see things a little more from another perspective once in a while. Read this, but make sure you have number 3 ready to go, cliffhanger central for both books!
I still liked book 1 better. Sequels usually are tough for me to enjoy. I loved the new in depth views of Damian and absolutely love his character. I still think him and Layla getting so close so fast was a little too easy. I also dont like that Brennen is almost like forgotten. Okay well hes safe so just go live and be merry. I really miss book 1 Cas. Hes still around but I needed more of him and hopefully book 3 will give me what I need. Don't read this without the warning of a cliff hanger that ripped my heart out. I cant wait for book 3!!!!
WHHHHHHAT WAS THAT ENDINGGGG?!? AHHHH angie why are you doing this to us? Man this book was great. Picks up where the first book ends. We get more into Anika and Damian as well as some other wonderful new characters. The betrayal, the SPIIIIICE. the action. It was all so freaking good. I was hoping for a little more action in the beginning the way that the first book end BUT ANGIE DIDNT MISS. Im so excited for the third and to see what happened after this cliffhanger. I NEED MORE LAYLA AND CASSSSS GAH
This series is still growing strong! I loved learning more about Layla and Damian’s relationship and seeing them each become more of themselves. I also enjoyed the growth between Layla and Caspian. Much was a great addition and I can’t wait to see what Layla decides about the decisions she has given to her. I love the strong FMC Layla is and how she doesn’t need a man. I can’t wait for book 3 and for the series to continue!
Lies and deception, thrills, romance, spice, fantasy, action, discovery, world and character building…this book has all of that! I think this book was so much better than the first!!! But the cliff hanger!! I hate cliff hangers. If you hate them as much as I do; wait for the full series to come out before reading. But if you can wait as the books come out so very much worth the read!!!!
This was a great continuation of the first. I really enjoyed the world building and there were dragons! The banter between characters, like the first one, was what made this book really enjoyable. Fast paced and action packed, I flipped through the pages like Lays potato chips, couldn't stop... and the ending. Wow! I can't wait for the third.
Like I said about book 1, I normally don't read this genre of books but these are absolutely amazing. I love the characters and how they travel between worlds. I can not not wait for the next book.
The book picked up right where the first part ended. Also no long-winded stories about looking back from the first book, which you often have in books. I definitely thought that was a big plus! I like the different POV. Definitely recommended
I'm obsessed with this series! The world's, the mythical creatures and Gods, the relationships, THE SPICE, the story itself is just *chef's kiss* The twists and turns of this book (and series) are just fabulous and exactly what you want from a book! I cannot wait for book 3!
I loved every bit of this book ate it all up! It was fast paced so much going on I can't wait to find out what happens in the last book! I loved the dragons, wolfs the friendships and family it was a very good book!
The characters get more involved and the world building it’s good this book gives you family, love, betrayal, action, spice, magic, more of the dire wolves and dragons plus gods and goddess.
loved it!!!! i cant get enough of the these characters!!! the banter, the love, the found family, the acceptance*chef’s kiss*. I devoured this book and immediately wished i had the next.
