In Osage County, the land may last forever. But love does not.
Life on the Double H Ranch was perfect until tragedy struck. Broken by her momma’s death and her daddy’s withdrawal, teenage Hannah Harris flees all she loves—her roots, her hometown, her conscience, and her cowboy.
Eight years later, she returns to attend her father’s funeral, gather her things, and get out of town. But there’s a snag—the high school sweetheart she abandoned appears too comfortable with her best friend. And Hannah now owns the ranch.
Since graduation night, Aaron Dean has waited for the girl who left her brand on his heart and his ring in his pocket. The ring’s the same, his heart’s the same, but is the woman who returns his same Hannah? What will it take to make her lost soul touch the earth again?
The longer Hannah stays at the Double H Ranch, the more memories root her to the earth, to generations past, and to dreams forsaken. And the more she believes love can last… forever.
Nestled in the heart of Osage County, Oklahoma, the Double H Ranch is a paradise of rolling hills and tall grass prairies. If you enjoy clean, first-love romance and stories that celebrate the cowboy way of life, then this small-town, second-chance romance is for you.
To Touch the Earth by Kristy Werner Hearts of Osage County Book One Hannah Harris left the family ranch eight years ago. She went without saying goodbye—not to her dad, boyfriend, best friend, cousins, or anybody else. She left God behind, too. Now, she is returning for her dad’s funeral. Still angry and bitter, she has no plans to stay. She has a new life in Oklahoma City. Aaron Dean has never stopped loving Hannah. She’d hurt him badly, but seeing her again just opened up all the feelings he’d buried for her. He has to find a way to convince her to stay this time. Forever. A lot has happened in eight years. As in the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, with Hannah gone, you can see how she impacted people. Situations where others had to step up because she wasn’t there. I loved this story and look forward to more in this story. If you cry easily, you may want tissues nearby. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heartfelt, Haunting, and Beautifully Rooted in Place
To Touch the Earth is the kind of novel that quietly wraps itself around your heart and doesn’t let go. Kristy Werner writes with such emotional clarity and grace that you feel every heartbeat of Osage County the land, the people, the pain, and the healing.
Hannah’s journey is tender, raw, and achingly relatable. Her grief, guilt, and the pull of home are written with such depth that you feel like you’re living it alongside her. The ranch life, the weight of family legacy, and the complicated love she left behind all come alive on the page.
Werner's prose is rich without ever being overdone grounded in the earth, just like her characters. And the romance? Slow-burning, beautifully tangled, and absolutely earned.
This isn’t just a love story. It’s a story about belonging to land, to family, to one’s own heart. Highly recommend to anyone who loves emotional depth with a strong sense of place.
For most of the novel, I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not, and that about sums up how the main character Hannah was like the whole time. Whilst I appreciated her character's journey of forgiving and learning to trust, her continual back and forth of 'can I trust him? should I not?' frustrated me to no end. Even by the end of the novel, I couldn't really say I loved her as a character.
Aaron on the other hand, definitely had my heart. The way he patiently waited for Hannah was beautiful to read about, and I was really rooting for him to find happiness again. The ending was definitely sweet and a satisfying conclusion, however, the majority of the novel felt frustratingly slow, with barely anything happening other than Hannah's indecision.
What a roller coaster of emotions. A story of hurt and fear of rejection, afraid to trust, can a good thing really last forever. Although Hannah frustrated me in her back and forth she gets there in the end. It’s amazing the number of people who forget the one who loves them most in these difficult times. Without God we have no true home, but once she allowed Him back in she could see the way to go. Could others have helped her on her journey earlier? No one can live a life of ‘what ifs’. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series. This is the first one by this author I’ve read, but it won’t be my last.
This book was absolutely phenomenal. The writing was so beautiful and it had me feeling all of the emotions. The FMC would have me so frustrated then I saw a glimmer of hope and then she frustrated me again! But for the writing to be able to make me feel all of these feelings is amazing. The ending gave me happy tears and it was just a beautiful completion of the book. Being from Oklahoma, I loved the story line being in Osage county. It was a special touch!

Hannah and Aaron’s story drew me in within the first chapter I felt as if I was there in Osage county watching this beautiful story unfold. I felt the emotions the character’s in this story were feeling. If you enjoy reading books that make you feel as if you are living in the story this is a book for you! This is a good wholesome book and is a great read for young and old a like. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and was not required to leave a review.
Does love last? This is the question explored in To Touch the Earth and author Kristy Werner does an excellent job weaving a tale of love, hope and coming-back-home to the tall grass prairie of Osage County. If you’re looking for sweet love story with all the feels of a cowboy romance & second chances, I promise this story will not disappoint! ...the survival of the tough times of lives brought together, yet torn apart by circumstances. You'll be drawn in by the struggles and the grit few could survive in any other legacy. The characters are real and steeped in emotion as family and friendships are put to the test. Kristy Werner writes what she knows from her own life in this great state. Highly recommended reading. I'm anxious for Book 2 to bring more of the same.
I wanted to read this book because I used to live in Osage County. The descriptions of the tall grass prairie and the black Angus were familiar. Hannah, the main character, was the most insecure person I can imagine. She wrestled with her insecurities, misperceptions and I abilities to see anyone else's perspective, but was it slow, hard fought battle, with too many setbacks. I was thankful she finally made it, as was the rest of the town.
Wow!!! What s great read to start a wonderful series.
Kristy's, you did a wonderful job in creating this heartfelt story of Aaron and Hannah's journey to their happy ever after. It had some ups and downs along wit twists and turns to get to it. The storyline is fantastic and heartfelt along with amazing and interesting characters. It is page turner read too.
I enjoyed this book and the slow transformation of Hannah. It took too long in my mind for her to realize what was right. The on again off again got OLD. Love me, love me not, how many times does it take?
What did I love about this book? The characters were interesting and the story intriguing. Of course there’s romance. Hannah has her Cowboy but can’t believe in forever because of hurts in the past. There is pain, wit, and suspense. What’s not to love?
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to leave a review. This is a heartfelt romance where the characters cling to hope and faith to find their happily ever after amid real-world problems. I loved, loved this book!
Easily one of my favorite books this year! Hannah and Aaron were so easy to like and their flaws made them incredibly memorable and relatable. I was on pins and needles praying everything would work out for them! Now I just have to wait semi-patiently for the next book in the series and make my guesses as to which character(s) will get their time in the spotlight (or sunset)!
