Former childhood enemies Julian and Juniper are forced to work together, but a simple exchange could change everything—he needs help with his case and she needs a fake boyfriend.

**

JULIAN BRIGGS has just landed his first job as an associate attorney. Everything feels perfect, until he learns he’s sharing his office with the last person he wants to see from nine-to-five every day: Juniper, his sister’s best friend and the one woman who knows how to drive him up a wall.

Working with Juniper in the confines of their tiny office is a nightmare. She’s stubborn, challenges everything he says, and is way too good at her job. In fact, she’s so good that Julian is forced to ask her for help on a tough case. And while Juniper agrees, there’s one catch.

JUNIPER ST. JAMES has never met her half-sister before, yet she finds herself with an invitation to her lavish New York wedding. With only a handful of stressful weeks to go until the big event, Juniper wants a fake boyfriend, and she wants Julian’s help getting his college roommate and hot NFL star, Noah, to play the role.

Julian reluctantly goes along with the trade, but spending long, late nights working on his case with Juniper makes him realize how surprisingly well he can tolerate her company. Or more than tolerate. And when Noah bails on being Juniper’s fake wedding date, Julian is ready to step in. But he promises himself he’ll never let her know how happy he is to stand by her side—even if just for one night.

I DEVOURED the first 50 percent of this book!! It’s so good!! We have a shit ton of tropes and I was eating it up. However once they get together it got kind of boring. This book reminded me of when you eat too much candy and then afterwards you start getting sick/sleepy.

I refuse to think too much into it🤣 I definitely enjoyed myself💜

Y'all I'm sobbing because this book was so beautiful!!! Juliper are everything to me and they own my heart atp🥹 The whole "I hate that I love you but I can't seem to stay away from you" trope? SWOON. Julian was so daddy ngl and I found myself falling for him right from the first page. His nicknames for Juni? I'M A PUDDLE OF MUSH Y'ALL AJSMSKSLKS. I had the wonderful opportunity to beta read this beauty as well and I thank my lucky stars that I slid into Amelie's DMs asking her if I could beta read for her that one day. For a debut novel, Alive At Night is absolutely brilliant. Like, I loved it THAT much you guys. Juliper are goals and I don't think I'm ever gonna shut up about them😩🫶🏾 Also, Noah's mine and I'm claiming him as my husband...so you girlies better back off PURRRRR🥰

My fav quotes from AAN🥺🫠:

“From now on, if you want someone to take you on a date, it’s going to be me,” he muttered, his fingers dragging along my jawline to my chin, holding on to it so I wouldn’t look away. “And if you want someone to fuck you, that’ll be me, too.” He rocked his hips against mine, letting me feel how ready he was for it. “Not anyone else. Me, Juni. Understood?”

"Fucking exquisite, all of it. Her taste. Christ, her taste."

"Juni didn’t deserve that. She deserved the world. I wanted to give her the world."

“What did you have?” he whispered, his tone growing soft. “For dinner?” I whispered back. “Pasta.” “And did you eat all of it?” His eyes wandered my face, ready to detect any signs of a lie. “Most of it.” Julian’s lips curved slightly. “That’s my girl.” My girl.
(a guy that cares if you've eaten or not and constantly checks up on you *sob sob*🥹)

*Thank you to Amelie Rhys for providing me with an ARC!

Beta read this baby for Amelie and can I just say how fucking perfect Julian is???? LIKE HELLO HE HAD NO RIGHT TO BE THIS DREAMY🥹 Juliper are couple goals and I'm so grateful that I got to beta read their story! AAN is coming this fall so don't forget to get your own copies mwah🥰

P.S. I'm claiming Noah as my husband so y'all bitches better back off OKURRRR💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻

Virgin heroine
Experienced hero

Mind you she is 27, has had boyfriends but never did anything besided kissing because she was insecure they would leave after havinf sex and they never waited until she felt safe. However within two weeks together she is already fucking the hero.
The magical guy and his penis are the cure for this insecure she has for more than a decade.

Of course he fucked before, he had one girlfriend and a fling on law school and has been celibate since the flings. But there were mention of other women not being quite

“Sounds like you’ve done this before. I’m not the first girl you’ve snuck out in the morning, huh?”
Not the first, but it definitely wasn’t a common occurrence. I tried to keep girls very far away from this house, and for good reason; my family could be overbearing, and the walls were guaranteed to be thin—a problem when the women I brought home weren’t quiet.
🤢

I hate virgins heroines when they are not teens paired with experienced heroes especially if her explanation to keep it that way makes no sense because she fucked him very fast. At the end who knows if he would be different from her other boyfriends if he didnt need to wait not even a month to sleep with her.
Also they are know each other since childhood. So not my cuppa

Ohh the best part? He is in love with her has been a decade. Yet she was the one with her pants closed
Of course there is also the macho pride of being the only man who has ever touched her. Ew

Julian Briggs 🥵🥵

This is the office romances of office romances.

HOLY. SHIT.

When I want some particular from an office romance, THIS IS IT. Once I got really into this book, I could NOT put it down. The dual POV, the longing and pining, the MMC being OBSESSED. Literally checked all my boxes for a great romance.

And the SPICE, holy lord. Did not go into this expecting that spice like that 😳🥵😅 It had me melting and blushing and it was so damn good.

Seriously read this. This book deserves all the praise

This book was SOOO CUTE (😭😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥰🥰🥰). I loved it. Their banter, their family dynamic and the found family trope were so wholesome. I am so excited to read the next book in this series. I do not WHY NOBODY IS ADDRESSING THIS FACT - BUT THE COVER IS SO ADORABLE (🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺). You cannot fight me on this. I feel it was a pretty long for a romance book but I didn’t mind (🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️). And the ACTS OF SERVICE TROPE WAS HITTING SO FUCKING HARD.

જ⁀➴ fav quotes
- The only thing that mattered was making sure I never had to hear Noah call Juniper sweetheart ever again. ( WE LOVE A JEALOUS MALE PROTAGONIST)
- I could really get used to seeing Juniper St. James smile at me. It was a radiant fucking smile.
- Letting go of Juniper now would crumble the last remaining unbroken piece of my heart.
- And I came to one conclusion. She was fucking mine.

SWOONING!!!😍😍 OMG I don’t think I stopped smiling once throughout this entire book. I’m obsessed with Julian & Juniper! Add Julian to your list of book boyfriends because 😮‍💨 and Juni I wanna be best friends with. She’s a book and plant girly! Um yes we’re made for each other!👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏽Juni in general was just easy to relate to! And I loved Juni and Julian’s dynamic! The “I hate you but secretly love you” tension will have you begging for more. But man once that spice hits.. It hits🥵 and it doesn’t stop! This book officially gets released on KU on 11/1 and I’m so excited for you all to get your hands on it!!!

Amelie Rhys's Alive At Night is a hate-to-love romance that centers on associate attorneys Juniper St. James and Julian Briggs.

Jules and Juni's chemistry, tension, banter, and mutual pinning were all hot and to die for. The hatred in their relationship stemmed from the fact that both Jules and Juni despised the fact that they wanted each other so bad.

The way Juni was the focus of Jules's obsession, and the various flower nicknames he gave her based just on her name was swoon-worthy. Jules was wholesome and hot without even trying, and it was all the better because he was demanding.

Can we talk about how attractive and demanding Juni was? She was a dedicated worker, and I loved how confidently she always walked in heels! Which also goes to the fact that it was one of the sexiest things ever to watch her place her heeled foot on Jules's chest.

All in all, this was a fun and enjoyable book that had the perfect amount of banter and hatred!

Thanks for the ARC!
This was an interesting book for a lot of reasons and really felt like a rollercoaster for me. I really enjoyed the first half and thought it had a lot going for it. It’s got a little bit of everything - some fake dating with one bed, workplace romance, nicknames, spice, and lots of history between the characters.

The second half just felt like a different book though - it’s an enemies to lovers and the difference between those two sections was just too abrupt. The characters saying “I loved you the whole time and was just trying to hide it” 17 times just didn’t solve that for me. There were some great characters in the first half that mostly disappeared in the second half, and the main characters’ jobs took too much of a backseat for my taste in a workplace romance.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Oh my goodness, I loved this so much! Juniper and Julian's banter had me hooked from the very beginning. After years of repressed feelings, seeing them finally give in was so good. loved that once they got together, everything Julian said/did during the years when he "hated" her could actually be backed up as proof that it really was always her. She was always in the back of his mind. And the caretaking, AHH the caretaking! Julian was so attentive to Juniper. I like that she recognized how supportive he was for everyone else and tried to be there for him as well.

-“Sometimes it feels good to prolong moments where you can really live before being crashed back into a reality where you just exist.”-

I don't think anything I say can describe the beauty of this book, at least the first half of it, the second half was mediocre honestly, but I read the first 300 pages in one sitting, it was THAT GOOD.

Julian and Juniper, I wouldn't say they're enemies to lovers sort of couple, I'd say being young makes you a moron more times than not, hormones and the fact that you can't really express yourself well at that age which leads to misunderstandings and missed opportunities is how this couple starts out. However ending up working for the same company and in the same office is enough to break those walls down.

I loved J&J honestly, the banter, the comebacks, the flow of conversation and every layer in between made me unable to stop reading this. The pacing was perfect in the first half or so, it was intriguing, it was slow burn but oh ma god I felt the BURN!

And then they got together and... I don't know something felt off. It became this lust fest filled with banging and nothing else. I thought they had a case to work on! But suddenly they're acting like crazed teens who can't keep their hands off of each other long enough to do their actual job, I Know I'm not supposed to be mad the two MC's are all over each other but it felt like after they got together, the story took a back seat (and I mean all-the-way-in-the-back seat), beside the smut scenes there was literally nothing else happening. But then conveniently the case is dropped so our main MC's don't feel guilty! 🤷‍♀️ mmmkay.
Also her ex popping up after all those years doesnt make any sense, Julian breaks his fingers and probably ruins his future yet Kennedy (the ex) still shows up to Julian's parents halloween party? It doesn't make sense except he had to be there so he can run into Juniper again! They have this party every year, how come he only saw her now? All the memories of her breakup are from 10 years ago, and he just so happens to show up now! 💁‍♀️ Sure sure!

Honestly, no excuse whatsoever for whatever the hell was happening in the second half.

3.5/5 ✴️✴️✴️〽️
Smoking hot, great banter, amazing pacing, blame the second half for all the missing stars!

I love a good best friend's brother/enemies-to-lovers story, and I simply adore Juliper!

Julian Briggs is an ex-college quarterback turned recent law graduate who finds himself working in close quarters with one, Juniper St. James - his sister's best friend and perpetual thorn in his side. The banter between these two was so much fun, and I adored the little nicknames Julian gave Juniper, even though they drove her crazy.

On top of the tensions in the workplace, they both end up needing favors and striking a deal, which leads to some fun fake dating and an only one bed moment. Rhys packed in so many tropes I love, yet none of them felt forced. Even the length of the book didn't bother me as I was sucked into the wonderful friend group surrounding them.

I just love Juliper, the tension between the two, the spice, and of course the moments when they open up to each other. Julian is serious book boyfriend material! Thank you so much to Amelie Rhys for an ARC of this book. It was a wonderful debut novel, and I can't wait to read more from this author!

Having landed an associate attorney position at a firm in Boston, things are looking great for Julian. That is until he learns the other new hire, and the person he has to share a very small office with, is none other than his little sister’s best friend, Juniper aka the bane of his existence.

When a case comes along that Julian needs help with, he’s loathe to ask for her assistance, but despite the long running animosity between them, Juniper readily agrees. There’s just one catch though—she needs a date for her half-sister’s upcoming wedding and wants it to be his old college roommate, Noah.

Julian agrees to hook her up with his best friend, but jealousy unexpectedly rears its ugly little head making Julian realize that somewhere along the way he’s stopped hating Juniper’s existence and actually enjoys being around her. & when plans later fall through with Noah, Julian jumps at the opportunity to be her date.

I was honestly surprised at how much I ended up loving this. It was a bit of a slow start for me and I didn’t connect right away with Julian/Juniper, but once the banter and chemistry picked up between them, I was hooked.

AND THEN I REALIZED THAT JULIAN HAS BEEN IN LOVE WITH HER ALL THIS TIME!!!! I turned into a giggling, squealing mess 🤣

✨ALC REVIEW✨

I have been wanting to read this book for hot minute and when I saw the opportunity to listen to it, I RAN.

I'm so glad I did because I absolutely loved this.

The chemistry between Juniper and Julian was beautifully written. The plot was fun. The spice was HOT. I just had a really fun time listening to this book. I laughed a lot, too, which is always a plus.

Also. I need to take a moment to acknowledge the male narrator, Gabriel Spires. That man went to WORK and absolutely nailed this! He was literally acting and really did an amazing job bringing Julian to life.

I really loved Juniper's character. I loved her personality. She was smart and dedicated and so secretly in love with her best friend's brother that I just wanted to reach into the book and shake her to wake her up! I loved how she always gave it back to Julian whenever he would rile her up. I love that she didn't take any shit from him. She's just super cute and I love how much she just wants to be a part of the Brigg's family.

Julian was perfection. Utter perfection. Julian is hot. Case closed. I love that he riled Juniper up. I LOVE the nicknames he gives her. It was truly adorable and I was eating it up every time. I love how much he's in love with his sister's best friend. I love how much he's denying it to himself. I LOVE THAT HE IS A FILTY FILTY MAN. I did NOT see that coming. He did jealousy well and I just thought it was so cute whenever he caught himself catching those feelings sneak out.

Now, these two had amazing chemistry. And I loved every jealous moment and every serious moment. I loved the digs and insults. The banter was gold. I loved the sweet and tender moments. I just really LOVED these two together. But THOSE SPICY SCENES WERE SPICY AND I AM NOT MAD ABOUT IT.

I know to never be fooled by a cute cover but this one fooled me, 1000%. But it was written so good; so hot.

The side characters were an added bonus as well. Grayson is an amazing best friend to Julian and I loved their friendship. Julian's family really seemed like such a wholesome group and I need more! Gemma is also the real MVP and I love how she reacted in the end.

I am so glad we get a little sneak peak of book two in the bonus epilogue. I really enjoyed Noah's appearance in this book and I can't wait for it!

My ONLY quirks about this book was that I wish we had gotten more moments or small convos with Juniper and her half sister. Maybe them forming more of a relationship seeing as they hit it off well at the wedding. I totally get why this hadn't happened but she kind of just disappeared. And second, this was a little longer than I think was needed. But I loved it and looked past it for sure.

I am SO glad I listened to this book and I just love the overall aesthetic of this book. It was fun, playful, sweet, intense, and HOT. So excited to continue this series!!

❝𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞. ❞

I don't think I can articulate the proper words to describe how much I loved 𝓙𝓾𝓵𝓲𝓪𝓷 and 𝓙𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓹𝓮𝓻.

❝ 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.❞

I swooned, I giggled kicking and screaming ( no exaggeration)
The tension was sizzling and palpable, the banter, the witty comebacks and especially the chemistry, Every single encounter was TENSING! but oddly/typically they both lacked self awareness when it comes to each others 🤭. In the best way ever! Because their verbal sparring and literal tongue lashes were the star of the show.

But once they collided ,they collided HARD 🥵🥵 Which warrant to say , don't let the cover fool you. This book is spicy 🔥 AF.
𝓙𝓾𝓵𝓲𝓪𝓷 has a filthy mouth on him and 𝓙𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓹𝓮𝓻 matches his energy ( virg!nity be damned 😉).
" toys" and 🍑play and all the 🥵. ( You have been warned).

❝ “𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮$$𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰...“𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥,”“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥.❞👀

To say I enjoyed it and loved the characters with a passion of a million flower 😉 is an understatement.

𝓙𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓹𝓮𝓻's emotional baggage and insecurities were valid ,and I loved how 𝓙𝓾𝓵𝓲𝓪𝓷 took his time to explore knowing her every nook and hidden emotion and make sure she felt loved , appreciated and belonged, in every aspect of his life.
Ughhhh this part shook me and put me together in the best way.

What is Amelie Rhys putting in these men, omg.

“'But…I realized you were more than just a single flower, a single name. You were a whole goddamn bouquet, baby.”’

“She’d always been perfect. But I’d realized recently the only thing I ever wanted to change about her was her last name.”

“I’m not afraid of getting dirty, Lily.” When he was repairing her car in a dress shirt.

I’m swooning. Hard.
